Fishing for pure freedom
266 km of coastline means an abundance of opportunities for coastal fishing. Add to that the many lakes and streams and The Coastal Land reveals itself as a pure fishing paradise.
The coast around the Juelsminde peninsula is varied and, therefore, contains plenty of good fishing spots for every level of experience. You can fish using spinner or fly and you can fish from either the shore or from a boat. Trout, in particular, are fond of the waters here and it is also possible to hook garfish, flatfish and cod.
The area is known for its excellent trout fishing which peaks in periods April - June and September - October. Vejle Fjord and Horsens Fjord are beautiful places to fish. The area near the pier at the tip of
Alrø is particularly popular with local fishermen who wade to the fairway. This also applies to the tip of Borre Knob just across the fjord. Be aware, however, that, in both areas, the water suddenly becomes very deep. There is free fishing along the Danish coasts - that is, you do not need to buy a separate fishing permit to fish here.
You find particularly peaceful fishing in the many local lakes and streams but check the rules before you cast your line.

A great place to try your hand at fishing for the first time is the local fishing parks called "put & takes" - and you will find two of the country's best right here in The Coastal Land. Both at Fyelmose- and Hedensted Put & Take there are excellent facilities - and the fishing opportunities are top notch! Among other things, there are children's lakes in both places, where the youngest have extra good odds of getting something on the hook. If you do not have your own equipment, it is easy to rent it in Fyelmose's shop, Fyel-Shop. At put & takes, there is room for everyone - both the experienced and beginners.
