What our clients are saying.

Delivering Your Lifestyle Dreams Over the past 30 years my wife and I have used the services of numerous real estate agents as we bought and sold homes across the country as my work required us to move often. Without a doubt, Paula has been the absolute best. She has been totally involved and committed to helping us sell our home at every step of the process. Her knowledge of the local market was invaluable in helping right price the home and her negotiation skills helped us sign a contract at a price we could accept. Additionally, her guidance and assistance in preparing the house was instrumental in obtaining the best possible price. We couldn't be happier with Paula and wholeheartedly recommend her.

MUTT MARCH 2020, JACKSONVILLE’S LARGEST DOG WALK AND FESTIVAL

IN 1920, THE JACKSONVILLE HUMANE SOCIETY (JHS) MOVED TO ITS OFFICIAL LOCATION ON BEACH BOULEVARD IN THE SOUTH SIDE OF JACKSONVILLE. Now, 100 years later on the exact same land, sits the Society’s home - a 50,000 square foot, state-of-the-art adoption, education and pet help center. The center features an adoption village for homeless pets complete with dog suites, a dedicated puppy room and catios! It also includes a low-cost veterinary clinic and education campus for children. In addition to pet adoption, JHS offers community resources to keep pets in their loving homes including a pet food bank, low-cost or free veterinary care, behavior support, and even emergency boarding. JHS believes that families in crisis should never have to give up their beloved pet. Keeping pets in their loving home also means that kennel space is available for pets without families, who are stray, lost, abandoned or neglected. JHS proudly partners with Animal Care and Protective Services to keep Jacksonville a no kill city, meaning that a minimum of 90% of the animals who enter either shelter leave alive. Jacksonville became a no kill city in 2014 and both organizations work to sustain this goal every day. JHS is a 501c3 non-profit, local and independent organization. To learn more about JHS and its lifesaving programs, including how to donate and volunteer, visit jaxhumane.org.

SPRING CLEANING RITUALS UNEXPECTED TIPS TO CLEAR THE CLUTTER AND ORGANIZE YOUR HOME

16

Saint Augustine Lifestyle | March 2020

DON’ T ADD MORE Don’t buy storage containers before your start cleaning. As fun as it is to buy bins and baskets, hold off. Until you declutter, you won’t fully understand your storage container needs. Use the right tools and start with what you have. Get essential decluttering tools ready, such as trash bags and boxes labeled Move, Recycle, and Trash. A professional doesn’t start a project without all the tools necessary to be successful – neither should you!

FOCUS ON THE GOAL Focus on one area at a time. Set a time limit that’s manageable and focus on a closet or drawer, evenjust a corner of a room. Determine a goal for the space. Visualize the space and determine the goal or function or the space – also the limitations. If you’re going to keep the space organized, you need to have a goal for the space and

NEX T STEPS

adhere to it. Begin to reassemble your space by putting like items together. Find the right containers like boxes, totebags, hutches, baskets, and bins. Repurpose what you already have. Make neat, easy to read labels foryour containers. Remember – take small simple steps. Organizing is a journey. And when you’re done, celebrate the win and enjoy your clutter free space!

FIRM AND FAITHFUL, THE TWO LIONS AT THE BASE OF THE BRIDGE OF LIONS WELCOME RESIDENTS AND VISITORS TO SAINT AUGUSTINE. Commissioned in 1927 by former mayor and medical doctor Andrew Anderson, Italian sculptor F. Romenlli created the two statues based on a pair of statues at the Loggia de Lanzi in Florence. In the mid-2000s, the city hired local sculptors Enzo Torcoletti and Joseph Segal to restore and clean the lions

while they were in storage during construction on the Bridge of Lions. Unveiled again in May 2011, the newly renovated bridge and restored lions inspired new Saint Augustine residents Gail and Jeff Kraker. Gail did extensive research on

the origins of the lions and spent a full year searching for replicas with no success. “One of the first things I wanted for our home was a set of tiny replicas of the lions,” Gail explains. “I wanted the lions to be made of the same Carrara marble the lions on the bridge are made of. I found a few shops that make Carrara marble

statuettes, but wasn't happy with the craftsmanship. After months of searching, I nearly gave up. To my surprise, I soon found what I believe to be the best statuette makers on earth—Old World artisans in Staffordshire, England.” The Italian Carrara marble used by the artisans is the brightest white, usually reserved for government buildings. The statuettes are hand-casted and hand-sculpted and Gail approves each set before she offers the lions to people who love Saint Augustine. Five years since that first search, Gail has a thriving business providing heirloom quality statuettes of Firm and Faithful. “They are like the lions on the bridge in every way, down to being made of Carrara marble and having the same inscription on their bases.” You can purchase a set for your home or to give as a gift

Jeff Sedlitz, LUTCF, President/CEO

YOUR TAX RETURN IS A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR LIFE. Think of the things that get accounted for when you file and what they really represent. Such as gaining a dependent (often the birth of a child), mortgage deduction (maybe you purchased a new home or continued growing in your current one), filing status (perhaps you changed your marital status). Whatever the case, the reality is that your tax return tells a story. However, that story is being told on a year-to-year basis, and it only looks backward. Tax-time is a great opportunity to consider the larger picture of your life, that is, the grander story that you are trying live as you move forward. What goals do you have for the next, five, ten, or fifteen years? How will you achieve these goals? How do the previous years help or hinder you in moving toward these goals? These are some of the questions perhaps posed by your yearly tax-return, though not easily answered by it. They can require a financial professional that can listen to and understand your specific situation to provide custom recommendations. This is exactly what we do at Family Tree Financial Group. We help you discover the arc of your story and work for and with you to develop the strategies to actualize your path and to realize your desired results. + Have you experienced any major life events, such as a marriage, divorce, buy or sell a home or business, or birth of a child? + Are you a retiree, pre-retiree, or hitting your career stride? + Do you seek tax-advantaged protections and solutions to safely grow your money? If so, contact us at (904) 657-0896 or visit familytreefinancialgroup.com to see how we can help!
