MUTT MARCH 2020, JACKSONVILLE’S LARGEST DOG WALK AND FESTIVAL

IN 1920, THE JACKSONVILLE HUMANE SOCIETY (JHS) MOVED TO ITS OFFICIAL LOCATION ON BEACH BOULEVARD IN THE SOUTH SIDE OF JACKSONVILLE. Now, 100 years later on the exact same land, sits the Society’s home - a 50,000 square foot, state-of-the-art adoption, education and pet help center. The center features an adoption village for homeless pets complete with dog suites, a dedicated puppy room and catios! It also includes a low-cost veterinary clinic and education campus for children. In addition to pet adoption, JHS offers community resources to keep pets in their loving homes including a pet food bank, low-cost or free veterinary care, behavior support, and even emergency boarding. JHS believes that families in crisis should never have to give up their beloved pet. Keeping pets in their loving home also means that kennel space is available for pets without families, who are stray, lost, abandoned or neglected. JHS proudly partners with Animal Care and Protective Services to keep Jacksonville a no kill city, meaning that a minimum of 90% of the animals who enter either shelter leave alive. Jacksonville became a no kill city in 2014 and both organizations work to sustain this goal every day. JHS is a 501c3 non-profit, local and independent organization.
