THE BRIEF
BACKGROUND
CONCEPT
rethink the brands of today to make them better. You have been given a specific theme – you need to create a brand for it. Ask how it can be better. How do you feel about your theme? Here’s your opportunity to do something about it.
Research found a photo of a three-dimentional, free-standing, typographic structure. The sculture inspired this concept to think about large-scale recycling to raise public awareness.
Create an engaging method to encourage people to get envolved with recyclying. Keep it exciting, to avoid the stereotypical nagging tone often surrounding recycling projects.
The given theme for this project was recycling.

THE BRIEF This project took the title of ‘Form’. .The idea was that large typographic sculptures would be placed into different urban environments. Similarly to Southbound Festival, the sculptures would begin as a hollow framework, which would then evolve into a work of art with engagement and interaction from members of the public. People would see these sculptures and be encouraged to place their waste into the units.
Over time the sculptures would devlop into a new form of art. Different materials would be used each time. For example the fist sculpture may be plastic bottles, and the next, chewing gum. The type would either form a message or simply the ‘F’ logo of the brand depending on the location.
Once completed, the scultures would be removed and relpaced with a new stucture in a different location for people to discover. Additional information would be handed out or made available for people who wanted to know more.

FINAL OUTCOME The ‘Form’ process ties in the idea of ‘form follows function’. It encourages people to recycle without pressuring them to learn about the benefits of recycling if they are not too interested. The sculptures fucntion as an alternative to rubbish bins or recycle units.
