BACKGROUND Alex from Intern Magazine set us a brief to come up with a new magazine. In groups we had to consider content, cost, audience and come up with something new and innovative.
Intern Magazine
CONCEPT Bi-monthly independent magazine based on film directors. Each issue will focus on a different film director providing a background and showcasing his work. The magazine will issue a description of the films. Not a review but a brief description on genre, cast, plot etc. Then it is up to the reader whether they want to watch the film or not.
Level 06
If readers are a fan of the films by the director, the issue will also introduce the reader to other similar less known directors and films they may also enjoy. For example, the Wes Anderson issue, the reader will also be introduce to similar director as well as new and upcoming directors who have a similar process and style to Wes Anderson. Thus the magazine will not only suggest films, but introduce them to new films and directors.

DEVELOPMENT - COVER DESIGN As a group we came up with different names for the magazine. After agreeing on the name ‘Seed’ because it was a magazine about film Directors. The development mainly focused on the best layout for the cover of the publication.

FINAL OUTCOME The final cover features a large image of the featured film Director for the particular issue. The first issue focuses on Ridley Scott and his collection of films. The catchphrase of the magazine reads ‘The Director’s Cut’. The magazine cost is £10 per issue. The neutral coloured tones ensure a sophisticated magazine, with little distraction from the feature image of the film Director.
