It was a tight finish for third and fourth in the Priors Farm Vets 138cm Open for Isobel Clifton on Dinky By Design (Badsworth Hunt) and Holly Ann Rose on Pennway Tap Dance (Tickham Hunt).

Pony Racing at Lingfield Park Racecourse Tuesday 28th October 2014

T

hirty six Pony Clubs from as far away as Yorkshire, Lancashire and Llangeinor in Wales travelled to Lingfield Racecourse in Surrey to take part in the Pony Club Race Day. Organised by the Eridge Branch of the Pony Club during half term the day was blessed with the most amazing sunny weather, perfect for a day at the races. There were nine races in total catering for ponies up to 128cm, 138cm and 148cm in height and within the height categories the races were split for those who have never won a race before and Open races for the more experienced combinations. There was a wonderful mixture of ponies from the traditional Pony Club all-rounder to under height thoroughbreds, whose long strides ate up the all-weather track at Lingfield. Competition was fierce as the jockeys came in sight of the grandstand and battled it out to be the first to pass the post. One race was so tight the stewards requested a photograph.

The winners in the Chelwood Equestrian Stakes, pictured with Julia Smith and Laura Bigwood from Champion Hats, who presented each of the winners with a voucher for a new hat. The Open 128cm section was won by Freddie de la Sayette on Ruby Tuesday, Bradley Kent was second and Emma D’Angibau, third. The Novice section was won by Harry Cunningham, with Duncan Morgan in second and Ben Pearson, third.

Members from Kent Border Branch: Amy Etherton, Rayna Donovan, Abby Hills, Sam Hills, Tegan Wallis, Izzy Wyatt and Isobel Edwards, who all raced together finishing 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th & 10th

Rosie Moore and Jennifer had a busy week. Pictured at Lingfield on Tuesday, they were competing in the Strictly Come Dressage competition the following Sunday. Although their dressage to music display did have a racing theme. This versatile combination also participated in the Shetland Grand National races around the country during the summer.
