Ibiza, a new destination for contemporary art? Exhibitions, galleries, cultural encounters, Ibiza seems to be diversifying its activities to the point of no longer being only the kingdom of electronic music but also the new cradle of contemporary art. By matthieu jacquet
Imagine yourself in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, a few dozen kilometres from Spanish soil, under a blazing sun soothed by the sea breeze: Ibiza, the Balearic treasure, offers a setting that many holidaymakers dream of. Now known throughout the world, this island has enjoyed remarkable growth for decades and has become an essential tourist destination in all seasons. Although it is still frequently associated with its steamy nightlife, it is nevertheless full of many treasures that surpass its reputation as the party capital. Recently, the island 28
has asserted itself in the development of sectors associated with contemporary art, providing it with an increasingly diversified cultural offer. However, its relationship with the art world actually has a much older history, with roots dating back to the early 20th century. At that time, Ibiza became an attractive place for many prominent figures, from artists themselves to intellectuals and art theorists. In the 1930s, the German historian and philosopher Walter Benjamin stayed there for a few years - he mentioned the island in several of his texts - while the Dadaist writer and artist Raoul Haussmann went into exile there, forced to leave Germany under the impetus of the Nazi regime. At the same time, the German architect Erwin Broner also visited Ibiza and later settled there permanently, after having lived in the United States: he was particularly active in the cultural life of the island, he left his mark there with his own workshop/ house built by the sea, the “Casa Broner”, now a museum open to the public. Even before becoming an Eldorado of the hippie movement in the 1960s, the island owes its attractiveness to both political and geographical reasons: far from the conflicts in Western Europe during the Second World War, Ibiza provided artists and intellectuals with a haven of peace where they could practice their activity freely, under ideal climatic and environmental conditions that could only

nourish their inspiration. However, how can we explain this more recent development of contemporary art? MACE, the island’s major cultural pilot, is the Museum of Contemporary Art in Ibiza, which seems to play a major role in its establishment. Inaugurated in 1970 and now one of the oldest public museums of contemporary art in Spain, its initial ambition was twofold: to transmit the cultural heritage provided by the island of Ibiza and its resident artists, while promoting contemporary creation. A vocation and identity readjusted in
2012 after the museum’s expansion work: as Elena Ruiz, its 30-year-old director, explains, MACE then adopted a “new, well defined and more ambitious impetus”. To mark this turning point when it reopened, the museum welcomed two major figures of contemporary art: the Catalan visual artist Miquel Barcelò, originally from Mallorca and known for his monumental paintings and frescoes, and the British sculptor Barry Flanagan, who spent the last part of his life in Ibiza. Since then, MACE has honoured many internationally renowned artists such as Cy Twombly, Douglas Gordon and Edmund de Waal. A success for the institution which, in addition to its role very much rooted in the island’s history, benefits from a particularly popular site in the heart of the historic district of the city of Ibiza. Opened in 2013 in the heart of the island, the Parra & Romero gallery has chosen a more remote site, away from the capital’s beaches. Representing contemporary artists who are in line with minimalist and conceptual art, this gallery offers a look at art history by comparing practices separated by several decades. The place it occupies, a former warehouse, was chosen precisely in order to develop large-scale projects, making the gallery a “meeting point” for lovers of contemporary art as is the intention of its director Guillermo Romero. According to him, the island of Ibiza has a “very pleasant context for socializing,
with a slower pace and more personal encounters between artists, curators, collectors, researchers, etc.”. A much quieter setting than that of the major cities, where biennials and art fairs abound, sometimes overwhelming their participants. In six years of activity since the inauguration of his gallery, Guillermo Romero has already seen an evolution with the appearance of new galleries and places dedicated to art, allowing the various institutions to build a real artistic network. Last year, MACE and Parra & Romero joined forces to produce a project by Uruguayan artist Luis Camnitzer, one of the leading representatives of conceptual art in Latin America. A pleasing development for the island, possibly heralding the expansion of a real cultural soft power.

Massimo Dutti goes to Ibiza Massimo Dutti has opened its doors for the very first time in Ibiza: an exceptional space in the heart of the historic centre, an oasis within the Balearic Islands while still remaining faithful to the brand’s DNA. By céline van heel
On June 20th, the Spanish brand began a new chapter in its history in Ibiza. Once again, Massimo Dutti has shown not only his knowhow, but also his excellence in terms of purchasing experience and innovation throughout the world. With the support of fashion insiders, influencers and other cat-walk models, the opening evening also featured a sublime capsule collection called Sea Side. The boutique has a unique interior design: furniture as part of the white walls like the island’s houses style where shelves are an integral part of the structure. The chosen palette of neutral and natural colours, typical of more noble raw materials, creates a very warm environment. Large Africaninspired carpets (a nod to the neighbouring country), lay on polished white floors. The lighting is intentionally subtle and seeks to echo the effect of Ibiza’s natural and
ephemeral light. The ceiling spot lights, hanging at 12 noon are complemented by a selection of elegant lamps, creating a harmonious ensemble which perfectly highlights the collections. The new Massimo Dutti boutique offers new shopping experiences such as mobile payment, scan & shop (scan products in store and then you can have products delivered at home)
or click & collect (you can book items through the brand application and collect them in the store you prefer). In addition, the store includes the most advanced eco-efficient system, with a reduction in its electricity consumption. Organized in a fullydecorated setting chosen especially for the occasion, the launch evening showcased the brand’s excellence
and the island’s atmosphere, punctuated by a magical culinary experience. Influencers such as Camille Charrière, Emily Marant, Inès Mélia and Guido Milani or fashion insiders such as Vanessa Breuer and Mark Vanderloo, as well as international models including Bram Valbracht, Tom Halls, Oriol Elcacho and Davinia Pelegrí, supported the brand during this exclusive event. 31

Willy Van Rooy, the muse of Ibiza Star model of the Seventies, Helmut Newton’s muse and shoe designer for Yves Saint Laurent, the artist Willy Van Rooy is certainly one of the women who has most marked Ibiza with her beauty and style. By laure ambroise

Before Ibiza became the temple of electronic music, this Balearic Island was the cradle of all kinds of tribes. On the one hand, there were the eccentric stars who were drawn to either Paula’s Ibiza, Dalt Vila, the world-famous arty hub where Donna Summer and Freddie Mercury met, or to the Pikes Hotel where Grace Jones and George Michael danced every night. There were also painters, muses, photographers with an equally glamorous but much more authentic lifestyle and often at the forefront of all this: the Dutch suapermodel Willy Van Rooy whose pictures from the Seventies, taken in Ibiza with her husband, the painter Salvador Maron and her son Alejandro, were seen worldwide. This 1.73 m tall beauty, born in The Hague began modeling at the age of 28. She had a unique career as she became Helmut Newton’s muse shooting photos with him almost every day. And when he didn’t book her, she worked with Norman Parkinson, William Klein or David Bailey. She performed for Yves Saint Laurent, Karl Lagerfeld, Thierry Mugler or Jean-Paul Gaultier. When she put aside her modeling career, she moved to Spain where she designed accessories for Saint Laurent but also for her own shoe line. Madonna and Cher have also been her clients. Today, Willy is a fulfilled multi-faceted artist who designs jewelry, paints, sews, enjoys photography transforming everything she touches. We can follow the trail of her life through the plethora of images we can find of her, and what a life it has been!

is friend, Boy George had found a nickname that stuck for a long time: the “Hugh Hefner of Ibiza”. With his three thousand acknowledged conquests, his steamy, moustached Burt Reynolds look and his thick cockney accent, Tony Pike had the look and reputation for the job. Yet. While Hefner did business for half a century with his blond bunnies, Pike enjoyed life for over a decade in the dream hotel he renovated with his own hands, in the hills near San Antonio, Ibiza. The most obvious way to qualify him? A Hedonist. But he was not just that. Tony Pike was above all an adventurer, a free man who loved exotic journeys, risk, faraway expeditions like a disco-era Bob Morane, a friendly privateer with a heart of gold. Born in 1932 in the Northern suburbs of London, with six siblings, he first faced the death of his father and then the brutality of his brothers and experienced the war head-on, as one of the many children evacuated to the countryside to escape the devastating Blitz in London. At the age of 13, unable to cope with the gloom of the post-war era, he cast off and joined the merchant navy and then the Royal Navy as an apprentice. There, Tony lived the hard life, learned to deal with men’s violence once again, but above all he travelled, first to South Africa and then to Australia, where he anchored at the age of 19. He became a hat maker, got married for the first time, then tested his sales skills successfully and made a small fortune. MODERN PRIVATEER Whilst settling down, a doctor diagnosed him with a heart condition, a double aorta. He prepared himself to fight once again. Tony Pike’s picaresque instinct took over and he decided to burn the candle at both ends from then on, which included purchasing an art gallery, a copper mine on a small island in Papua New Guinea (quickly sold), then a schooner took him around the world once again, with which he sank in the middle of the Bermuda triangle, close to Haiti. Tony almost left his life, but then took the opportunity to remarry briefly and settled on the Côte d’Azur in a marina where he met a crowd of international playboys whose jet-set lifestyle he envied slightly. In 1978, he took a friend’s advice and docked up on the “white island” with two objectives: to find a girlfriend (her name would be Lynn) and a place to live. He stumbled across an ad, a five hundred year old finca (traditional farm) for sale, in an isolated hamlet. This pretty ruin was nicknamed “Can Pep Toniet” (Little Tony’s house): and with that he fell in love and bought it. The dilapidated finca had no running water or electricity; but within two years the former sailor had redone everything, from the plumbing to the cushions, and started to organize banquet 35

evenings for friends, which were so popular that he ended up charging admission. In July 1980, he opened up the gates to the Pikes Hotel with two guest rooms, which grew over the years to become a small Technicolor paradise, with a swimming pool a bright blue sky, golden yellow walls, bright green carved trees, and a red tennis court. Just as colourful as the place itself, Tony Pike officiated as Mr. Loyal over his little circus in the sun with charisma, a love and desire for celebration both larger than life. CASANOVA OF THE 80S Because when we say adventure, we also mean, of the romantic kind. Tony Pike, a seducer at heart, certainly lined them up. He found the right equation for his hotel where you could find alcohol, drugs, pretty girls and still a glamorous ambiance. The glitter and stars arrived at the Pikes in 1983 when the group Wham! came to shoot their video “Club Tropicana”; it must be said that the lyrics written by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley fit the place perfectly: “Club Tropicana, drinks are free, Fun and sunshine, there’s enough for everyone.” In this solar and ultra kitsch video clip, George and Andrew flirt with two beautiful girls (their backing singers Dee C. Lee and Shirlie Holliman) around the pool where Tony serves cocktails. George Michael appears in a white mini swimsuit, groomed and tanned with perfect dark sunglasses. In his autobiography “Mr Pikes”, Tony admitted to having had a brief affair with the singer during the shooting, followed by a lifelong friendship. The video was played on a loop and celebrities flocked
to the hotel: Mike Oldfield, Joan Baez, Frank Zappa, Tony Curtis or Brigitte Nielsen, among others. Tony Pike, who married five times and had four children, had many conquests, among the thousands listed, we find Grace Jones, whom he had met during a candlelit orgy in New York with whom he stayed for more than a year and of whom he kept a memory filled with wonder, or the bombshell singer Sade. Kylie Minogue is not on the list to Tony’s great regret but remained a dear friend. A self-proclaimed sex-addict, sometimes bisexual, Tony did not push hedonism too far and consumed few drugs, unlike his customers who followed his “BYOD” (bring your own drug) instructions. The problem with the local police was solved thanks to his friend Julio Iglesias, a regular at Pike’s and famous for his antidrug activism, and who was able to mend bridges with the Commissioner (and his wife!) over a good meal. FRIENDS TILL DEATH DO US PART But his greatest friend, perhaps the one who moved him the most, remained Freddie Mercury. The singer of the all famous band Queen, stayed at the Pikes in 1986, greeted by Tony with his hands covered in cement and unimpressed by this star he had never heard of. Soon Freddie nicknamed the place his “home away from home” and sang his first version of “Barcelona” on its patio. In 1987, when he had just tested HIV-positive, Freddie asked Tony to organize the biggest party of all time. In his book, Tony wrote: “When I asked him about the budget, he laughed and told me there was none. The pool could be frozen into an ice rink with

elephants if desired. He just wanted it to be crazy.” The Pikes was therefore filled for three days with thousands of giant black and gold balloons, hundreds of bottles of Moët & Chandon champagne with seven hundred guests, including Kylie Minogue, Jon Bon Jovi, Boy George, Julio Iglesias, Grace Jones, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Robert Plant and Naomi Campbell. The birthday cake was carved into the shape of the Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s cathedral in Barcelona, and legend has it that the fireworks were admired all the way to Mallorca. True moments of madness, even in the eyes of those who succeeded him in Ibiza. LEGEND AGAINST HIS WILL A little Dionysus, a little visionary, Tony Pike thus created, almost unintentionally, the concept of the “boutique hotel” long before Ian Schrager (co-founder of Studio 54), and he made his joy of living into his business. But one day the Commander’s statue had to call this unrepentant Dom Juan to order. The first hard blow came in 1995 when he saw the first signs of the disease that was wreaking havoc through his network of friends. The doctor gave him five years to live but, luckily, the first treatments worked well for him. A second tragedy hit him hard in 1998 when his eldest son, Dale, was murdered in Miami by a crook during a deal to sell the Pikes that Tony wanted to part with. From that pain, Tony never recovered. In 2010, he sold the hotel to the Ibiza Rocks Group, i.e. to Dawn Hindle and Andy McKay, a couple of entrepreneurs specialized in Ibiza clubs
with their pop-rock network. Primal Scream held an afterparty with an acoustic concert in the garden in front of Kate Moss while Idris Elba mixed on the turntables and Jade Jagger, Lily Allen, Mark Ronson and Fatboy Slim were soon among the new regulars. For Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim), Tony Pike was “larger than life and twice as entertaining”. Even if he sold his hotel, Tony stated in a contract that he was going to keep a room at the Pikes for life (a small room, number 25), with free food and drinks. You could then meet him at the bar where he welcomed guests with kindness, near the famous swimming pool and treated them to a few crazy anecdotes or relaxed with his two cats in the garden. For Tony, as the calligraphy on the whitewashed wall of the hotel parking lot clearly states: “You can check in but you can never check out.” Inside and flashing is another neonshaped, very “pikian” motto: “Why the fuck can’t I have fun all the time.” And near the DJ’s cabin, we can read this quote from another dreamer, C.S. Lewis, from The Last Battle in Narnia’s World Series: “I belong here... Though I never knew it till now... Come further up. Come further in.” After creating his own Olympus, Tony left our world last February at the age of 85 in his sleep, gently, a paradoxically peaceful end for this adventurer with a destiny worthy of a Hollywood film or a Netflix series, who had so often defied death, illness and especially boredom. In a video from Vice, Tony offers a last word to meditate on, that of a man who had extensive knowledge on the topic: “The key to happiness is total freedom.” 37

Holidays, time to forget everything To illustrate its third summer collaboration with Paula’s Ibiza boutique, Loewe called upon the talent of photographer Gray Sorrenti. Sunglasses recommended!
Since Jonathan Anderson chose Ibiza’s Contemporary Art Museum as Loewe’s summer quarters for his first collaboration with artist John Allen, the Balearic island has become fused with the DNA of the Spanish fashion house. Paula’s boutique, with its fully f lowered and extravagant decor, has been at the island’s epicenter of glamour and culture for more than 20 years. Located in the heart of the old town; a place where hippies, intellectuals and artists have crossed paths, from Valentino to Freddie 38
Mercury. As a child, Jonathan Anderson stopped here with his parents and it left it’s mark. Like Proust’s famous madeleine, the Loewe x Paula’s Ibiza capsule collection came to be, with chapter three coming out this summer. Composed of chic bohemian beachwear, decorated with emblematic patterns, the collection recalls the cathartic carelessness of a trip to the islands. Loewe expresses his love of true savoir-faire with a casual wardrobe that honours natural fibres, from pure linen to woven
sisal, sponge and cotton crochet, all in a sunbleached colour palate. Many articles are decorated with Paula’s cult logo or exclusive prints that recall an eccentric assortment of children’s wallpaper patterns; a real seaside bric-a-brac, where sea snakes, grape bunches, traces of f loral footsteps, Balearic masks and burning suns are mixed together. Turtle-doves marry with Spanish mantilla combs and f lamenco fans, while the angels frolic against powder-pink wallpaper. Jonathan Anderson asked
Gray, the talented daughter of photographer Mario Sorrenti, to capture this collaboration. Known for her precise and contrasting work, Gray draws less on technique than on intuition. They chose the Dominican Republic to bring to life this project, from which the young photographer returned with a multitude of reportagestyle images that can now be discovered like a photo album, designed by M/M (Paris) and printed in a limited edition of 1,200 hand-numbered copies.

AGORIA IS LAUNCHING A MUSICAL REVOLUTION The electronic music producer Agoria, aka Sébastien Devaud, will never cease to amaze us. With the drop of “Drift”, his first album in 8 years, the French artist keeps shaping a unique and singular musical panorama. This time Agoria works with bold sounds, pushing his music over the limits. By pauline borgogno Photo céline van heel

L’Officiel :We have been waiting for 8 years.. You took a lot of time to finish your fifth album. Why? Agoria: «Time always passes so fast. I have to say that the album itself, as a means, wasn’t the centre of my vision. Of course, I kept creating songs or soundtracks this whole time. Then 3 or 4 years ago, I understood that I wanted to tell new story, and so “Drift” born. And I insist on this idea of “the story”, because in these days we tend to nibble different songs. “Drifts”’s aim is to be listened from the first track to the last one. This is not a versatile and multifaceted album, I really wanted to create a thread since all the sounds are connected.» LO : Why did you chose the name “Drift”? Is there any special meaning behind it? A : «In this moment people are looking for a niche market and they are taking care of their own musical universe. In a certain way I was looking
for a fresh new air; to exit that universe. At the moment I am mostly known for my club songs, but I believe that you always need to take risks and I needed to move away from my own guidelines. This for me is the real way of touching the truth. And this is why I chose Drift as the name of the album. It needs to be perceived as an access, an accident or a header! It’s mostly a change of direction towards the discovery of an emotional and exciting balance.» LO: Your album is radically different from the others: a zig zag in between styles, pop, rock, electro and hip-hop. Which is your intention with this daring project? A : «My motto is “don’t decline any experimentation”. I invited my dear friends and artists, to organize creative encounters. From Nicolas Becker, who works with the biggest filmakers, to young artists who have never got into a studio, as Sacha Rudy or artist friends of S.T.S. To me, it is a project about 45

encounters; almost a collective! With each artist, music was easy, simple.. Each recording was special. Each collab started as a twist of fate. The final feeling was almost mystical for all of us.» LO: This year you had the opportunity to take part for the first time in the prestigious Coachella Festival. Can you talk about this experience? A: «Coachella has been a mix of love and hate for me. The festival offers a simply extraordinary program, very precise. It goes through eclectic scenes, that go from indie rock to hip pop and to electronic music. Musically I got a slap. Unfortunately, I hated many superficial aspects. In particular with this new craze about people taking selfies on the fields, which is unique for our time. All the guys coming to the festival bring their photographers to coddle their image. I think that this obsession is a pain in the neck for Coachella.» LO: 2019 has been a very busy year for you, since you are a resident at the Blue Marin Club in Ibiza for 18 weeks. What motivated you to share this experience? A : «This is the first time for me, since I have never had such an experience, and I have to admit that it is absolutely amazing. We meet each other every Friday night from 8 pm
to midnight in front of the sea, at the beach in Ibiza.. so close to the audience, I can have almost intimate contact with them. We see each other eye-to-eye: that is priceless. This adventure at the Blue Marlin is very “Drift” in the idea because the club is free, compared to most of the other locations in the city.» LO: Can you talk about the music and sound programme? A: «Again, there is a question of diversity. I had fun playing with different genres. The programme is made up from artists who are quite well known, to big names such as Jack Black, but then also David Guetta or Dj Harvey, who I consider one of the best. Everyone has their own music, their secret and all their collaborations. All these visions collide, yet leave room for a magical confrontation.» LO: You have a close relationship with Ibiza... Can you tell us which are your favorite places in the island? A: «I like to stay at the Atzarò de Santa Eulària Hotel, in the North of Ibiza. For the shopping, there is nothing like reVOLVER shop, that offers the best sunglasses in the island. And, obviously, a obliged deviation to Es Vedrà rock, for its legend and for a boat tour at sunset!»

Almost unlit at night except for the bar and not sign-posted, people come to taste the traditionally prepared fresh fish (sole, sardines, seabream, cuttlefish or shrimp) cooked on the grill and served with a mixed salad. cash payment only located at the end of talamanca beach,

Family affair
EXPERIMENTAL BEACH If you are a fan of sunsets, then this address offers the most beautiful on the island with an outstanding 180° view. Located a stone’s throw away from Las Salinas beach, this beach/ restaurant is the ideal place to dine or sip one of their famous cocktails (this is the French group that turned cocktails into a thriving business), especially on Mondays at 19:00 when the road is totally blocked by the massive arrival of cars for the Circoloco party at the DC10. playa des codolar salinas, s/n, 07817 ibiza.
LA PALOMA Located in the village of Sant Llorenç, this family-run address offers Mediterranean cuisine designed by chef Prasuna. You can taste delicacies such as the falafel salad or the risotto of the day and the famous Solomillo with balsamic vinegar sprinkled with thyme. Here, no extended menu. Everything is homemade. Only Italian products are imported such as Pantelleria capers, Tuscan salami or Parmesan cheese. We love the dishes as much as the environment, with its aqua blue furniture and candle-lit garden.

See and be seen MACAO CAFE The name can be misleading as this restaurant is far from being a café. Considered as one of the island’s classic restaurants, this Italian address remains a safe bet. Located in the village of Santa Gertrudis, not far from Bar Costa and an institution on the white island where one can enjoy delicious ham whilst perched on a bar-stool, a meeting point for dinner with friends to eat delicious fresh pasta and vitello tonnato. People from the fashion and music world love to dine here. réservation obligatoire. carrer de la vénda des poble, 8, 07814 santa gertrudis de fruitera, ibiza. ne demander qu’une table à l’extérieur. +34 971 19 78 35

SES BOQUES Located on the South coast of the island near Es Cubells (billionaire’s coast), the restaurant of Joan Ribas and his wife Lourdes (the queen of the super light “lime tarta”) offers in addition to its famous Rice Ses Boques and delicious paella, more than a dozen fish dishes à la carte. Personal favourite and their specialty: the roasted fish in a salt crust. playa de ses boques, 07839 sant josep de sa talaia, ibiza. +34 606 08 15 70

Outside the city, these five addresses between Ibiza and Formentera are a call to disconnect. Whether you are looking for a luxury version or a rural outpost, you will inevitably find the address for you. By laure ambroise

Word of mouth
LOS ENAMORADOS In the little fishing village of Portinax in the wildest, northernmost reaches of the island you’ll find the hotel Les Enamorados (‘the lovers’ in Spanish), owned by Rozemarij de Witte and Pierre Traversier. On this part of the island you’ll find no throbbing nightclubs or clubbers looking for an after party, but only locals, yogis and slow-life vacationers. This former boarding house, revamped by the couple in a metticulous reclaimation style, has 9 rooms each with its own unique touch, wherein many individual treasures can also be purchased.
CAN XUXU Owned by former designer Alexandre Narakas, this confidential 12-room villa boutique with private pools offers an experience halfway between a luxury boutique hotel and a private villa. A former private house, Can Xuxu was not initially designed as a hotel, which explains the originality of the specifications. Located not far from San Jose on the west coast, we love the main pool, the personalized service, the rooftop in the Parma suite and of course the owner for his advice and wise recommendations.

LA GRANJA In the middle of ten hectares of agricultural land, there is a haven of peace called La Granja. Composed of a farmhouse and five rooms (that are more rural than minimal: outfitted in wood, rusty steel, brass, stone and slate) and a guest house, this hotel is unique in Ibiza. More than just simplicity, we are talking about precision luxury. Entry to this hotel is exclusive to paying guests or members of the Friends of a Farmer organisation, which will cost you an annual membership fee. +: slow food cuisine 100% locavore, cooked by the super chef José Catrimàn carretera forada in sant mateu km 1.5, ibiza. reservations@lagranjaibiza.com +34 615 406 588 42

PURE HOUSE IBIZA interspersed with olive, mango, apricot and lemon trees, this hotel has four rooms (adults only) and a sublime 23-metre saltwater pool. Here, only organic or local food is served. All the rooms are immaculate in white and ivory. A haven of calm and intimacy, the ideal place to relax in the environment of a luxury hotel. Located 3 km from the city, you can go out for dinner or a drink without crossing the entire island.
ETOSOTO This beautiful house between land and sea is well worth an escapade to Formentera for its relaxing ambiance and above all its timelessness. This residence has nine rooms or suites and two small houses on the beach. It offers a variety of cultural and agricultural workshop experiences while preserving its traditional ‘finca’ soul with a refined and minimalist design. This hotel aims to preserve the natural beauty of the landscape through new permaculture techniques and the work of organic farmers. This is an invitation to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A wide range of workshops are available ranging from introduction to permaculture to learning a musical
