Miranda Beaudry - #89 Maple Ridge
I had an excellent customer service experience at the Maple Ridge Lordco location yesterday and thought you should be aware of it. I called Lordco yesterday in a rush as my son had broken down in his car. I described to Miranda (I think that was the woman's name) roughly (very roughly) the replacement part I needed. After a few polite and incisive questions she knew exactly the part I needed. She located the part quickly and put it aside for me. I zoomed to Lordco and, while waiting in the queue, Miranda noticed I was eyeing the part (which was on her desk). Without breaking effective contact with the customer she was serving she motioned for me to come forward and get the part. I was on my way in minutes. Miranda provided excellent customer service yesterday. She was personable, good humoured, and effective. She's a star!

Theodore Botwright - #74 Courtenay
I'm from Website Auto, and am writing to you about Theo Botwright. Ted usually is working on the weekends, and usually every weekend he helps me with parts, and more importantly, comes up with options and solutions for me, Ted is always happy, helpful, and punctual with his follow through with parts and information.
-Jerry Patterson
Florin Neamtu - #62 Enderby
My name is Brandon Husereau and I was helped by Florin Neamtu in the Enderby location. He went out of his way to help me source a part for my car and also help change it for me. His service was amazing and I thought it would be the right thing to do to let upper management know about this event.
-Brandon Husereau
Will Uhrich - #58 Summerland
Just wanted to send a shout out to Will who went above and beyond when I pulled up in front of the store with a blowout on a trailer tire. He was immensely helpful and a credit to your brand. You’re lucky to have him.
-Rob Rausch
Raymond Callender - #41 Prince George
Just a quick note of praise for Raymond Callender. I came to Lordco on Friday to purchase parts. I was completely out of my element as I had never done this before. I just wanted to say I really appreciated the time Ray committed to teaching me about brake parts, pricing and brands. It was pleasant to have a knowledgeable person treat me with respect despite my ignorance. I’ll be back, regards,
-Dean Chandler
Laura-Lee and Zachary - #42 Lake Country
Hopefully this is the right way to reach out and say thank you! Just wanted to send a HUGE thank you to Laura-Lee and Zac in your Winfield location. Laura-Lee went above and beyond to help us find a correct caliper and then one was defective she made sure that we were taken care of, and quickly! New one arriving the next morning! And a second shout out to Zac who was also helpful in the situation and always greets customers with a smiling face. Great job guys! Keep it up :)

Hypertension Awareness Month
Hypertension, which is a medical term for high blood pressure, affects more than 7.2 million Canadians. Good news though! Hypertension is often preventable with a few lifestyle changes. This month, we will be looking at ways to decrease your risk!
What is Hypertension?
Hypertension evolves from prolonged high blood pressure. Blood pressure usually rises and falls throughout the day, depending on your activity level. For instance, blood pressure increases during exercise and decreases during sleep. However, these cycles can be interrupted by unhealthy choices and stress, which is why it is important to stay active, eat healthy, and reduce stress when possible.
Blood pressure is measured using the force of blood against your arteries and is measured with two numbers. The first number, called systolic blood pressure, measures the pressure in your arteries when your heart beats. The second number, called diastolic blood pressure, measures the pressure in your arteries when your heart is resting between beats. A healthy blood pressure measures 120 systolic and 80 diastolic, or 120 over 80.
How Do You Know if You Have High Blood Pressure?
High blood pressure has no signs or symptoms, so it is important to measure your blood pressure often. Many pharmacies have blood pressure testing stations so that you can test yourself. Additionally, many people find it helpful to keep a log to track their blood pressure. High blood pressure is considered to be any measurement higher than 130 over 80, so if you notice your blood pressure increasing throughout your logs, be sure to contact your doctor.
What Can You Do to Prevent High Blood Pressure?
To keep your blood pressure in a healthy range, try to get at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week, eat a healthy balanced diet, limit sodium and alcohol, and manage stress. Exercise can be one of the most important factors in maintaining blood pressure. When your heart is conditioned to natural stressors such as exercise, it is more resilient to everyday stressors. Physical activity also helps to maintain a healthy weight, lowering your risk of high blood pressure.
What Can You Do to Manage High Blood Pressure?
To keep high blood pressure under control, work closely with your healthcare team. They will inform you of steps to lower your blood pressure such as diet and exercise changes, or medication if needed.
This month, make sure to put your health first! Log on to Lordco Connect or email HR@Lordco.com to view your health benefits and take charge of your health and wellbeing!

OHS is shining the light on well…. Safety.
This May, members of OHS and HR attended the Western Conference on Safety. We were among a sell out crowd of over 850 participants. For 2 days, we interacted with other Safety/ HR professionals and JHSC members from all provinces, representing a wide variety of industries. We attended their Tradeshow, spoke with safety vendors and had front row seats to learning seminars from experts in the field of Ergonomics, Mental Health, Risk, Incident Investigations and Leadership, all of whom were bringing new ideas and insight into safety and incident prevention.
We appreciate Lordco for recognizing the value in these opportunities to continue our own learning so that we can bring you the best OHS program.
Learning from our past.
You’ve heard the phrase "hindsight is 20/20"…... well, that is often the case in the world of safety. After someone has been hurt, we think of all the steps we should have done differently; the PPE we should have worn, a missed opportunity for refresher training, a process that isn’t working but still used. Most of the time, it is a series of actions that contribute to an incident.
Below is a story from an actual Lordco employee. Our hope is that their story will help you and your coworkers learn from their experience so that a similar incident can be prevented at your Lordco site.
A slip, a fall, a trip to the hospital…
While on my way into my store, I slipped on snow-covered ice, causing a severe sprain to my ankle. It had just recently snowed, but the eaves on our roof had been leaking for some time, creating a black ice section. I didn't think anything about it as we had just salted the lot two days before, but with the new snowfall, the ice hardened, and I didn't notice. I couldn't stand, and no one was around.
Luckily a driver came out of the building and rushed to help me. They called for the manager, who came out. After evaluating me, they took me to the hospital so I could receive treatment. I was able to return to work in a limited capacity until I was fully healed.
Since January, we’ve had 19 slip, trip and fall injuries. While most happen during inclement weather, they occur anytime there are slippery surfaces, items left on the floor, bulk stacks with missing product along the edges to name a few. Be sure to check our monthly inspection to see if your JHSC or Safety Rep identified these in your location.
