A Gridiron Football Top 300

hmad Garner is a One-Cut Running Back prospect from Metairie, Louisiana that attends Archbishop Rummel High School. A Class of 2023 High School Sophomore, Ahmad Garner is listed at 5’9, 172 lbs. and has a very encouraging highlight tape. He is a hard-nosed, physical running back that is not afraid of contact. His Hudl film showed his ability to run downhill effectively against a defense, no matter who is in front of him. Garner has a jump cut that is satiable and it demands attention by opposing defenders as well. Ahmad’s capability of finding the hole with ease while having an astute nose for the endzone is promising. Only a sophomore in High School, the running back has two more phenomenal seasons at Archbishop Rummel to encourage spectators to rave about him. He’s already shown that he possesses the spark to compete at the next level. I look forward to seeing the offers roll in expeditiously as his High School career progresses. At what age did you begin playing football and what motivated you to play? I began playing football at five years old. I was motivated by seeing the football games play on TV every weekend as a kid. I thought it would be fun to give it try and I just haven’t stopped playing since.

What has football taught you about life and yourself in general once you started playing? Football has taught me that in life, you only get one chance. Not many players get a second chance at playing football. As far as myself, I learned that football is a more of a mental game. A player’s mentality can separate him from thousands of others that play. Are you a leader on your team? And if so, have you been able to bring any of those leadership skills from the field to your everyday life? Unfortunately, with me being a sophomore and still learning the game, I haven’t been much of a leader as of yet. As I head into my junior year, I will definitely play more of a leadership role on the team especially with so many incoming freshman and younger teammates looking up to me. As a junior, can you tell me some advice that you would give to your underclassmen teammates who would look up to you as a leader on the team? I would tell them to don’t overthink things on the field and always look for ways to improve yourself as a player/ person. Who is a role model in the NFL (at your position) that you feel reflects your game? My role model in the NFL at Running Back would be Alvin Kamara. I say him because of the ways he can break tackles and fight for every yard that he can. Also, I like his versatility and how he is able to catch passes out of the backfield and create big plays for his team. What was your biggest highlight/play so far in your High School career? The biggest highlight so far in my high school career was Week 1 vs Hammond High School. My second carry of the game, I took for 31 yards and a Touchdown. It felt unreal when it happened with me only being a Sophomore and it being so early in the season. What do you look forward to next year when you play in your Junior season? What’s your main goal? I do look forward to my Junior season. My main goal is to win a State Championship with my teammates and finish the season as one of the best Running Backs in the state. What kind of player would they (coaches) be getting out of you if they choose to recruit you to their school? Coaches can expect to get a coachable, dedicated, and hardworking player out of me. by: Cameron Rorie
