ayshawn Pleasant is definitely a player to watch for next season, as he is one of the best players at his position. After missing the entire 2020 season due to injury, the talented athlete is ready to make an impact in his final year. He showed he was able to do it all in his sophomore year. He is a great one on one cover man, able to make open field tackles and also able to return kicks if needed. Pleasant is 6’0”, 180 pounds and currently attends West Monroe High School located in West Monroe, Louisiana. The athlete currently maintains a 3.0 gpa and runs a 4.6 40-yard dash. Louisiana Gridiron Football is exited to see how this young man continues to improve. His passion is his greatest asset and I am willing to bet that it will take him and his team a long way. Tell us about yourself, who is Rayshawn Pleasant? (background) A guy that just loves the game of football, who wants to get better every day. Every day I strive to get better in my craft. I’m from Louisiana, moved to Texas my sixth-grade year, and then moved back my seventh-grade year. I grew up playing running back but when I went to my high school West Monroe, I was switched to cornerback. I actually prefer being a cornerback.

From what I see on film, you are very passionate about the sport of football. Where does this passion come from? I have been playing the game since I was young, since like the first or second grade. Ever since then the love has grown overtime. I also want to make it to the NFL one day and that passion is required. If you were to make it to the NFL one day, what would you do with your first paycheck Buy my mama a car or a house, whichever one she needs most at the time. What would you say are your strengths and weaknesses as a player? My strengths are speed, and I am able to get in and out my breaks quickly, weaknesses are hands. My hands can be better. I honestly cannot evaluate all my strengths and weaknesses because I have been out a year due to injury. So, I have not been in much action. I am not trying to be cocky or anything, I just honestly do not know at the moment. Who is your favorite NFL or College Player? What parts of them do you like the most? Jalen Ramsey, he is really one of the reasons I have such passion for the game because I see his passion just by watching him play. By him being my role model, I try to emulate him as much as possible How do you manage your time being a top athlete and a student? Do you have a schedule that you follow every day? Try to be the best version of myself whenever I do anything. Every day I stay on top of my schoolwork, working out, and just being on top of everything so when it is time to showcase my talents I will be ready. What is your all time favorite moment playing football? Scoring my first touchdown in my sophomore year. It was a 99-yard kick return touchdown, and it was in our end zone near the student section. It was a big play and close game, and the atmosphere was unforgettable How has the pandemic affected the way you train daily? It hasn’t really changed much, I still try to work out every day. I work with my trainer on Tuesdays and Thursday. We do speed, agility, and defensive back techniques. Other days like to do core work, run stadiums, and run in general. What are some goals you have for the rest of the offseason and regular season? I want to get bigger; my goal is to get a weight around 185/190. I want to run a 4.5 40, During the season, we only have one goal as a team and that is to win a state championship. A recent goal I want to strive for is to get an Alabama offer. Those are my biggest goals at the moment. What would a college team be getting out of you? What are you looking for in a program? They will get a player that is Passionate about the game. I deeply love the game of football, I will do anything possible to get better at my craft, You will also get a player that works, you will never have to worry about me not working hard. When looking into colleges I do not care about the size or name of the college. It is all about the love for me, wherever the love and loyalty is, is where I want to go.
