leyton Francis is an outside linebacker at Rayne High School in Rayne, LA and is in the class of 2022. Although Bleyton is an outside linebacker by position, he also plays safety and quarterback. Bleyton is fast and explosive, resulting in him being a big playmaker for the Wolves. He always knows where the ball is and finds a way to make the tackle. On top of his defensive knowledge, Bleyton also played quarterback and can make plays on both sides of the ball using his impressive speed and agility, making him very difficult to tackle. As most quarterbacks are, Bleyton is also a leader with great instincts and it shows, as he was awarded 4-4A all-district athlete for the 2020-2021 season. What did football teach you about yourself of life once you began playing? I started playing football when I was 14 and it’s taught me a lot, mostly how to control yourself in certain situations Who or what has been your biggest motivation or role model in the sport? My mom has been my biggest role model What is your favorite memory while playing the sport? It was a district game to be district champions and I threw the game winning touchdown Are you involved with any other sports or activities at school besides football and if so, how do you think those experiences have helped you on the football field? I started wrestling my freshman year and it helped me get stronger and I also played basketball that helped with my stamina. As a quarterback, what is it like being in a leadership position and what do you think are the most rewarding and challenging aspects? The most challenging thing is that you definitely cannot do everything by yourself. I’ve always naturally been a leader so it comes pretty easy to me and I would say the most rewarding part is leading your team to a victory What current player, college or NFL, do you think reflects your play stile the most? On the defensive side of the ball I would say Jamal Adams and on the offensive side I would say someone like Patrick Mahomes because I’m mobile and good with my arm too The 2021 season is still a little far out, but is there anything that you are already looking forward to for next season? Of course our main goal is to go undefeated and as far as my personal goals go I want to throw at least 8 touchdowns. Last season I only scored five and I really want to top that. What’s some advice you would give to younger players that want to play high school football one day? Stay focused, stay motivated, have a good team on your side and even if you feel like you can’t do something, still strive to do it and push yourself as far as your body will let you. This past season was obviously very different with all of the Covid restrictions. What adjustments did your team have to make and how were you all able to overcome that? None of our games were cancelled last season, but there were a few teams taken off of our schedule. I don’t think the Corona really had a lot of effects on our team Finally, what do you believe is the most rewarding part about playing the sport and being part of a team? The most rewarding part of last season for me was winning the All-District athlete award. I didn’t win the MVP but I still thought it was pretty cool.
