PHL campaign spending outrageous, needs controls: Drilon MANILA, Feb 2 (Mabuhay) – As campaign period kicks off next week, Senate President Franklin M. Drilon on Tuesday called for stronger campaign regulation in the country to prevent what he called an “outrageous, ridiculous and out of control” election spending. “I am calling on the Commission of Election to exercise a stronger regulation of expenses of politicians before and during the actual campaign period,” Drilon said. “The campaign spending in the country is outrageous. Any way you look at it, the election in the country is one of the most expensive in the world,” he added. As the World Health Organization (WHO) declares the current spread of the Zika virus a Public Health Emergency of International Concern, the Philippine Government, through the Department of Health, has advised its citizens to remember and use ‘4S’ against Zika virus and other mosquito-borne diseases.
