Meet Sunny, a Bear-y Special Parkinson’s Ambassador

Sunny is Restoring Hope Parkinson’s Therapy Ambassabear…yes, you read that right.

What is an Ambassabear you ask? My role is to raise awareness and promote knowledge about Parkinson’s Disease.

economic cost of Parkinson’s was over $9.9 billion for the year 2014. This represents an increase of $3.2 billion since 2005, or 46%. And we suspect, when more up to date figures are available, it will have increased even more!

It’s all too much for me to bear!

Here is my first fact for you – did you know that over 18,500 Queenslanders live with Parkinson’s? How about that approximately! 18% of those diagnosed are of “working age” (under 65). And did you know that the total

Last year I was “adopted” by a couple of Sunshine Coast residents who are living with Parkinson’s. Pauline was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2018. Her husband, Kevin, is her caregiver. Both are members of Parkinson’s Queensland Nambour and District Support Group, and Pauline has speech and swallowing therapy through Louise Williams at Restoring Hope Parkinson’s Therapy, a Registered Charity at Nambour. Maleny Wood Expo 2023

“Maleny Show-grounds to once again host the Maleny Wood Expo”

The Maleny Wood Expo for 2023 will be held in the Maleny Show-grounds between April 29th to April 1st.

The Maleny Wood Expo was first held in 1996 and organised by Maleny Barung Landcare. The Expo covers everything wood, but at the same time making use of sustainable wood and recycled woods.

There's something so satisfying about making something with your own hands that is practical.

There's hands-on woodwork for the whole family with Woodworking workshops, Woodwork for Women and the Junior Landcare Paddock where kids can get their hands in the sawdust and take home their own masterpiece.

The Expo is now recognised as one of the best wood shows in Australia and it is estimated that the Expo attracts over 10,000 people to the Sunshine Coast region annually.

The main feature exhibition of the Expo is the Sunshine Coast Wootha Prize. This year, entrants are invited to explore the theme ‘Dovetails’. Entries close at midnight on March 17th, 2023.

The Wootha Prize, the feature exhibition at the Maleny Wood Expo has a first prize of $10,000. Wood artisans from throughout Australia are invited to submit wooden pieces in categories such as furniture, sculpture and tiny treasures.

Tickets are now on sale.

Back in the 1940’s and 1950’s radio was king. People would sit around their radios to listen to their favourite radio serials, just like we sit around our televisions today.

One favourite serial that lasted the test of time was Gwen Meredith’s “Blue Hills”.

Meet Sunny, a Bear-y Special Parkinson’s Ambassador

Louise’s mother Lorraine makes handmade bespoke character bears for Louise to sell to raise funds for the Charity and Kevin asked her to make one for him to take on a fundraising hike he was doing - the Sunshine Coast 2022 Great Walk. As a result, I was “born” and soon became part of a group of 11 walkers who raised over $10,000 for Parkinson’s Queensland and Restoring Hope Parkinson’s Therapy by walking over 30 kilometres in two days. We even camped out overnight.

I kept them safe, but a couple in the group were hard to keep in line … especially the Member for Glass House!

I was so good at the job that, in September last year, I took Kevin down to Tasmania

Shake It Up Australia and this time we raised over ve day walk. My little legs were so

All of this is to say that I’ve been promoted and am now the HEAD bear for the Sunshine Coast Great Walk in April this year! Never mind the fact that I’m the only bear…

Our fundraising goal is $50,000 this time, which is why I’m here grizzling you to get on board and put your support behind our weary walking boots and paws.

I’ve done some bear-y quick maths and I believe that if every person on the Sunshine Coast donated just $0.15 we’d easily reach our target. Imagine if they gave $2.00 (which is tax deductible)! Imagine if they were joined by our friends in Noosa, Moreton Bay…all of

Mary Cairncross ecological park

Sunshine Coast Council is proposing to establish an ecological park in the hinterland on 65 hectares of land adjoining Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve. The project provides an opportunity to expand our accessible green spaces by creating a unique destination for the whole community, inspired by the beautiful natural environment of the Sunshine Coast.

An ecological park is a type of park that will support nature-based recreation, education, and research, whilst protecting, celebrating, and restoring the sites inherent environmental, natural, and cultural heritage values.

The ecological park is a long term project aiming to restore natural ecosystems over many years and decades, allowing the community to be part of the restorative process.

The Sunshine Coast ecological park project has three community engagement stages throughout the planning phase. Thank you to everyone in the community who has previously contributed feedback which has helped shape the Draft Master Plan. If you haven't yet seen the previous findings, you can access them at the web site:

It was on March 8th, 1973 at about 2a.m. that 15 people died of carbon monoxide poisoning as a result of an act of arson at a third rate, but busy nightclub situated in St Paul’s Terrace, Fortitude Valley in Brisbane. At the time it was Australia's worst mass murder case. The fire occurred after containers of flammable liquid was set on fire in the stairwell of the second story nightclub.

It was a busier night than usual because the headline band that night was the popular band The Delltones. They had just finished their “gig” and had left the venue.

Subsequently, two criminals, James Richard Finch and John Andrew Stuart were arrested and convicted as the offenders in this crime. Stuart was found dead in his cell at Boggo Road Jail in 1979. Finch was released from jail in 1988 and he was then deported back to his birth country, England. No other people have ever been charged with anything relating to this mass murder incident.

This month, being 50 years on the people of Queensland and more so the relatives and family of victims are no closer to finding out the real truth of this crime. At a very early stage as police investigations got going New South Wales detective Roger Rogerson joined the investigation team. At the time this was

unusual to happen so early in the investigation. Rogerson would later tell an inquest that he was only there as "an observer”. It begs the question “Who was he an observer for?”

Prior to this fire there had been a number of suspicious criminal incidents around Fortitude Valley attempting to extort protection money from nightclubs and similar type businesses. That included the 23rd February 1973 firebombing of Torino’s Nightclub, also in Fortitude Valley.

It is strongly believed that at no time did Stuart and Finch mean to kill these people -they were just trying to extort money from the nightclubs. It is strongly believe that they were merely ”the soldiers” and others had instigated this dastardly crime.

Following the arrest and charging of Stuart and Finch another tragedy occurred when on the 16t January 1974, Barbara McCulkin (34) and her two daughters, Vicki (13) and Leanne (11) disappeared from their home in Highgate Hill. Mrs McCulkin’s estranged husband, Billy, had connections with O’Dempsey and Dubois, so she may have been able to implicate them through what he may have told her.

Barbara McCulkin told friends that she knew enough about the nightclub bombings. There were a number of criminally active people who wanted to silence her.

On 28 November 2016, Garry Dubois (then aged 69) was found guilty of the murders. Following that on the 26th May 2017, Vincent O'Dempsey (then aged 78) was also found guilty of murder.

In January 2022 a second inquest was opened into the Whiskey Au Go Go. Unfortunately, in 1972 investigation techniques such as CCTV evidence, body worn camera vision, videotaped interviews, DNA exhibits that are taken for granted today were not even thought of in that era.

The former ACT attorney general, Bernard Collaery, who was an investigator at the immigration department in the 1970s, gave evidence at the inquest into the deaths of 15 people in the nightclub attack that Brisbane’s Whiskey Au Go Go nightclub would be burned down before the fatal firebombing happened in 1973. Collaery was also told the now disgraced detective Roger Rogerson and another

New South Wales police officer, believed to be Detective Freddy Krahe were “jealous” of a heroin operation that operated at the Fortitude Valley venue.

Queensland Coroner Mr Terry Ryan compelled Rogerson to give evidence "in the public's interest”. Rogerson didn't give away much, complaining that he had bouts of a bad memory.

For decades this crime has been deemed a “closed case” when perhaps it is actually a “cold case”.

Unfortunately, 50 years since this mass murder almost all witness with any direct information about the cause of this fire have long since died. Those few that do remain have a strong reason not to remember any of those details.

At this time the inquest has been adjourned so that solicitors who wish to make submissions to the inquiry on behalf of their many clients have time to prepare those submissions.

Irrespective of the results of the present Coroners Inquest it is highly unlikely that any real extra information will be elicited such that other possible offenders can be charged in this instance.

Do you have a mould problem

Why you should have an Air Dehumidifier

If you want your home to remain as comfortable as possible during the summer months, you should consider using a dehumidifier to reduce the amount of excessive moisture in the air. With the present indications are that the atmosphere will remain humid throughout the next 4 to 6 months mould and mildew will continue to grow.

Using a dehumidifier during the summer also improves the air quality inside your home and can eliminate potential allergens like mould and mildew. A dehumidifier also reduces the chance of dust mites which thrive in high humidity areas and also eliminates odours.

Juvenile Crime - Continuing on from last edition. There is no simple answer, but parents have a big part to play.

From the age of 10 until 18, any offence is dealt with under the Youth Justice Act, which technically defines that person as a "child offender". Children under this age cannot be held criminally responsible for their actions. Much has been reported in the media about the level of juvenile crime, but there is no one answer to the problem.

Simply incarcerating juveniles or just spraying money at the problem are not the answer. More crimes are being committed by a constant group of young offenders thus distorting the real situation.

Juvenile crime is a serious problem in Queensland and across Australia. It is a major source of crime, with young people accounting for a disproportionate share of the total number of offences. In recent years, the level of juvenile crime has been increasing, with a number of complex social and economic factors contributing to the problem.

The causes of juvenile crime are varied and complex, but they can be broadly categorised into three main areas: social, economic and environmental. Social causes include family breakdown, peer pressure and a lack of positive role models. Economic causes include poverty, unemployment and a lack of access to suitable education and employment opportunities. Environmental causes include poor housing, a lack of safe recreational spaces and inadequate access to health and social services.

In Queensland, the legal implications of juvenile crime are governed by the Youth Justice Act 1992. This Act sets out the range of penalties that may be imposed on young offenders, and outlines the rights of young people in the criminal justice system.

Contained herein are some of the challenges parents face when it comes to juvenile crime, as well as the assistance available to help them in

dealing with the problem. We also provide some advice and strategies for prevention and intervention, and highlight the legal implications of juvenile crime.

It is hoped that parents will have a better understanding of the nature of juvenile crime in Queensland, the challenges they face and the assistance available to help them.

They will also have an understanding of the legal implications of juvenile crime and strategies for prevention and intervention.

Juvenile crime in Queensland is defined as any illegal act committed by a person aged under 18. It covers a wide range of offences, from minor misdemeanours to serious or violent crimes.

In Queensland, juvenile crime is divided into two categories: criminal offences and summary offences. Criminal offences, such as assault and robbery, are seen as more serious offences and are handled in the Children's Court. Summary offences, such as graffiti and drinking alcohol in public, are seen as less serious offences and are handled in the Magistrates Court.

Juvenile crime can be seen as a complex issue, with a range of causes and contributing factors.

Continued next Page Continued from Previous Issue on 3rd March, 2023

These include family issues, such as family dynamics and parenting styles, as well as environmental factors, such as poverty and substance abuse.

It is important to note that juvenile crime is not necessarily a reflection of the child’s character or values. Many children who commit criminal offences have been exposed to difficult experiences or environments, and may have struggled to cope with the pressures and challenges of life. There are various strategies that can be employed to reduce juvenile crime. These include early intervention programmes, such as mentoring and counselling services, as well as youth justice programmes, such as diversionary programs.

It is important to remember that juvenile crime is a serious issue, and that the consequences for young people can be significant. It is therefore important for parents and guardians to discuss the issue of juvenile crime with their children, and to ensure that they are aware of the potential consequences of their actions.

Statistics on Juvenile Crime in Queensland

As parents, understanding juvenile crime in Queensland is essential to keeping your children safe. To help you understand the scope of the problem and the measures being taken to address it, here is an overview of juvenile crime statistics in Queensland.

In 2020, the juvenile offender population in Queensland was estimated to be around 7,000. Over the past five years, the rate of juvenile crime has decreased by 12.6%. However, the severity of juvenile crime has increased, with more serious offences such as assaults, robberies and sexual offences being committed. In 2019, juveniles accounted for 11.5% of all criminal offences in Queensland.

Youths aged 10-17 years were the primary offenders, accounting for 82.4% of all juvenile

offences in 2019. The most commonly committed offences by juveniles were acts intended to cause injury, property damage and theft, unlawful use of motor vehicles and serious driving offences, often resulting in death or serious injury to innocent parties. These are followed by public order offences and drug-related offences.

The majority of juvenile offenders in Queensland in 2019 were male. Around 74.4% of all juvenile offenders in Queensland were male, and 25.6% were female. Indigenous juveniles accounted for 27.4% of all juvenile offenders in 2019, although they make up only 4.3% of the overall population in Queensland.

The Queensland Government has taken some measures to address juvenile crime in the state, but these have mainly proved to ineffective. In conclusion, juvenile crime in Queensland is a pressing issue that requires action. By understanding the statistics on juvenile crime in Queensland, parents can be better informed and take measures to keep their children safe.

Types of Juvenile Crime in Queensland

Juvenile crime is a serious issue in Queensland, as it is in many other parts of Australia. Parents need to be aware of the types of juvenile crime that may be occurring in their area so that they can take steps to protect their children. This chapter of Facing

Juvenile Crime in Queensland: A Parent's Guide will provide an overview of the different types of juvenile crime that occur in Queensland, so that parents are better informed about the risks their children may face.

The most common type of crime committed by juveniles in Queensland is theft and property damage. This can include theft of items such as bicycles, motor vehicles, and other property, as well as acts of vandalism such as graffiti and destruction

Continued from previous Page
Continued next Page

of property. It is important for parents to be aware of how to protect their property and to be vigilant in reporting any suspicious activity to the police.

Another common type of juvenile crime in Queensland is drug-related offences. This can include the manufacture and sale of drugs, possession of drugs, or the use of drugs. Parents should be aware of the dangers of drugs, and should talk to their children about the potential consequences of drug use. They should also be sure to monitor the activities of their children and report any suspicious activity to the police.

Assault is another type of crime committed by juveniles in Queensland. Assault can include physical assaults such as punching, kicking, or hitting someone, or it can include verbal assaults such as threatening someone. Parents should be aware of the consequences of assault, and should discuss the issue with their children and emphasise the importance of respecting others.

Finally, there are a number of other types of juvenile crime that occur in Queensland, such as sexual assault, burglary, fraud, and robbery. Parents should be aware of the risks associated with these activities and should discuss them with their children. They should also monitor the activities of their children and report any suspicious activity to the police.

In conclusion, it is important for parents to be aware of the different types of juvenile crime that occur in Queensland. By being informed and proactive, parents can help to protect their children from becoming involved in criminal activities.

Factors Contributing to Juvenile Crime

There is no single cause of juvenile crime, as there are many factors that contribute to it. In Queensland, there are several key factors that are known to be linked to juvenile crime. These include a lack of family support and supervision, poverty and social isolation, mental health problems, drug and alcohol

abuse, and trauma. In this section, we will look at each of these factors in more detail to help parents better understand the roots of juvenile crime in Queensland.

Family support and supervision is a key factor in preventing juvenile crime. When children lack a supportive family environment, they can be more likely to become involved in criminal activity. Parents can help provide support by being present and attentive to their children, and setting clear expectations and boundaries. This will help to ensure that children feel secure and understood, and will help to prevent them from engaging in criminal activity.

Poverty and social isolation are also linked to juvenile crime in Queensland. When children grow up in low-income households, they may feel disconnected from their peers, leading to feelings of isolation and depression. This can lead to juvenile crime, as these children may seek out ways to feel connected to others. Parents can support their children by providing the resources they need, such as food, clothing, and educational materials, to ensure that they feel included and connected to their peers.

Mental health problems can also be a factor in juvenile crime in Queensland. When children are struggling with mental health issues, such as depression or anxiety, they may turn to criminal activities to cope. Parents should be sure to recognise the signs of mental health issues in their children, and seek help and support from mental health professionals if needed.

Drug and alcohol misuse can also lead to juvenile crime. When children are exposed to drugs and alcohol, they may be more likely to be involved with criminal activities. Parents can help to prevent this by monitoring their children’s activities, and ensure that they do not have access to drugs and alcohol.

Continued from previous Page Continued next Page

Finally, trauma can also be a factor in juvenile crime. When children experience traumatic events, such as abuse or neglect, they may be more likely to turn to criminal activities in order to cope. Parents should be sure to recognise the signs of trauma in their children, and seek help and support from professionals if needed.

In conclusion, there are many factors that can contribute to juvenile crime in Queensland. By understanding these factors, and taking steps to address them, parents can help to prevent their children from becoming involved in criminal activities.

Prevention and Early Intervention Programs

When addressing juvenile delinquency, prevention and early intervention are key. Queensland has numerous programs and resources in place to help parents and families prevent and address juvenile crime.

The Queensland Government’s Department of Youth Justice has a variety of prevention and early intervention programs. These programs target young people at risk of delinquency. The department provides mentoring and support services to young people, as well as education and training programs to help them make better decisions.

The Queensland Government also provides some youth support services, which focus on helping young people and their families at risk of offending. These services are tailored to meet the needs of young people and their families. They typically

include counselling, case management and individualised advice.

Queensland also has a range of community organisations that focus on prevention and early intervention. These organisations offer a variety of activities, such as support groups, skills training, and education programs. They also provide mentoring and advocacy services to young people and their families.

Parents do have a major role to play in preventing juvenile delinquency. Research has found that parental involvement is one of the most effective ways of preventing juvenile delinquency. Parents can help their children by setting clear rules and expectations, providing support and guidance, and building a positive relationship with their children. Finally, it is important for parents to be aware of the signs of juvenile delinquency. This includes changes in behaviour, such as increased aggression, truancy, and involvement in criminal activities. If parents notice any of these signs, they should seek professional help as soon as possible.

By taking advantage of the prevention and early intervention programs available in Queensland, parents can help to prevent and address juvenile crime.

These programs provide support, guidance and education to young people and their families, and can help to create a safer and healthier community.

It is important that children and young people who are repeat offenders get responses, punishments and support that works to successfully stops reoffending.

Is an Australian autumn the best time of year?

In Australian autumn takes place from March to May, and it is characterised by warm days and cooler nights. In the southern states, such as Victoria, Tasmania, and New South Wales, the trees change colour to shades of yellow, orange, and red, which creates beautiful scenery for tourists and locals alike. Tourists still come in droves to the Maleny area in autumn.

The best part is that the weather during autumn is generally mild, with temperatures ranging between 20-25 degrees Celsius during the day and dropping to around 10-15 degrees Celsius at night.

It is still a great time for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and visiting national parks for those who are so inclined.

Australian autumn is a beautiful and pleasant time of year that offers plenty of opportunities for people to still enjoy the outdoors while appreciating the stunning natural scenery.

Take time to enjoy the weather before the onset of the colder winter months.

Being a part of a community can make us feel as though we are a part of something greater than ourselves.

An Old Codger’s Thoughts & Opinions

A rich father who wanted his son to know what it was like to be poor brought him to live with a farming family for a few days.

The child stayed there for 3 days and 3 nights. Back in the car on their way to the town, his father asked him:

"And your experience?"

"Fine," replied the boy.

"Did you learn anything?"

The boy then explained:

"1 We have a dog and they have four of them.

2 We have a pool with treated water. They have a river with crystal clear water, fish and other good things

3 We have electric lights in our garden, but they have the stars and the moon to light them up.

4 Our garden extends to the fence. Theirs up to the horizon.

5 We buy our food; they cultivate, harvest and cook it.

6 We listen to CDs ... they hear a sustained symphony of birds, crickets and other animals ... ... all this, sometimes accompanied by the singing of a neighbour who works on the farm.

7 We use the microwave. What they cook tastes much better cooked on a slow fire.

8 We are surrounded by alarm fences to protect ourselves ... They live with open doors, protected by the friendship of their neighbours.

9 We are connected to the telephone, computer and television. They are in communion with life, sky, sun, water, fields, animals, friends and families. "

The father was impressed with his son's feelings. Then finally the son comes to the conclusion:

"Thanks for showing me how poor we are! Every day we get poorer because we no longer look at nature !!! “

Oh! how things in our lives have changed in the term of just one or two generations!

Truthful tells us that his neighbour is Murphy.

Murphy’s old lady had been pregnant for some time, and the time had come.

He brought her to the doctor, and the doctor began to deliver the baby.

She had a little boy, and the doctor looked over at Murphy and said.

‘Hey, Murph! You just had you a son! ‘Ain’t dat grand, !!’ Murphy got excited by this, but just then, the doctor spoke up and said, ‘Hold on! We ain’t finished yet, !’

The doctor then delivered a little girl.

He said, ‘Hey, Murph! You got you a daughter!!!! She is a pretty Lil ting, too….’

Murphy got puzzled by this, and then the doctor said, ‘Hold on, we aint got done yet, !’

The doctor then delivered another boy and said, ‘Murph, you just had yourself another boy!’

Murphy said to the doctor, ‘Doc, what caused all of dem babies?’

The doctor said, ‘You never know Murph; it was probably something that happened during conception.’

Murphy said, ‘Ah yeah, during conception.’

When Murph. and his wife went home with their three children, he sat down with his wife and said, ‘Mama, you remember that night that we ran out of lube, and we had to use that dere 3-in-1 Oil.’

She said, ‘Yeah, I remember that night…’

Murph said, ‘I’ll tell you, …..it’s a freaking’ good thing we didn’t use WD-40.

Morale: There is always an explanation for things that happen in our lives!

Directors you need ID!

With Trove Easton of Easton Lawyers, Maleny

What is a director ID?

A director identification number (director ID) is a unique 15-digit number given to a director (or someone who will become a director), who has verified their identity with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).

It’s free to apply and while directors need to apply for their own director ID, they'll keep it forever even if they: change companies; or stop being a director; or change their name; or move interstate or overseas.

Timing

The Corporations Law requires if you were appointed as a director on or before 31 October 2021 you must apply for a director ID

As of the 5th April 2022 you MUST have a director ID before you are appointed as a Director.

Timing under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act) is different.

If you were appointed as a director under the CATSI Act on or before 31 October 2022 you must apply for a director ID by 30 November 2023.

From 1 November 2022 you MUST apply for a director ID before you are appointed.

Who needs a director ID?

You need a director ID if you're a director of a: company

aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporation

registered Australian body, for example, an incorporated association that is registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and trades outside the state or territory in which it is incorporated foreign company registered with ASIC and carrying on business in Australia (regardless of where you live).

If your organisation has an Australian business number (ABN) find out if it is registered with ASIC. company, which will have an Australian company number (ACN) registered Australian body, which will have an Australian Registered Body Number (ARBN)

registered foreign company, which will have an ARBN

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations have an Indigenous Corporation Number (ICN) and may also have an ABN.

Conclusion

ASIC is responsible for administration of the director ID, under the Corporations Act and it is a criminal offence not to apply on time.

If you need help and support, you can contact your solicitor, or tax agent, to help decide if you need to apply for the director ID.

At Easton Lawyers our Senior Associate, Michelle Kleinig would be happy to assist you, understand your obligations under the Corporations Act, please don’t hesitate to contact us on (07)5494 3511

Take care everyone!

While lithium-ion solar batteries have superior longevity, like any product their performance will gradually decline over time. As the battery charges and discharges during normal use, its capacity will naturally reduce after many years.

But if your usage is in line with optimum cycling specifications and your battery is well maintained, it can last for up to 15 years.

Your solar battery will perform at its best when installed in a cool, dry place with adequate ventilation.

The Hinterlandgrapevine Online News Travelling Jackaroo “Getting to the Top”

on

road” ….. continuing on with my mission!

Bit of an announcement, as most of you know, two weeks ago I had a pretty major breakdown north of Cataby in WA. What happened was I heard a pop followed by a puff of smoke followed by my oil pressure gauge hitting 0, I pulled the stopper and shut him down as quick as I could but I wasn’t fast enough and unfortunately he seized solid.

From there Lloyd from Geraldton towing sent someone 4hrs south in a truck to pick me up and take me back to Geraldton where BIG4 Sunset Beach Holiday Park Geraldton agreed to accomodate me.

After chatting with Lloyd he decided to donate something special out of a Bedford truck…. A 110hp 4 cylinder Perkins Phaser motor that we’d mentioned previously last year, when believe it or not we were actually thinking about doing an engine swap before I’ve managed to seize the old 4.270 that was in Slim until recently.

Now as far as the benefits of this new motor go there are many including

- better fuel economy

- better hill climbing abilities with extra power

- the ability to fit an exhaust brake to significantly improve my braking capabilities for long descents

- a slight potential increase in speed to around 40-45kph from my current average speed of 37kph I cannot thank Lloyd and the team from Geraldton Towing Services enough for this. Not only have they decided to help get me back on the road again but have also given me a motor that will not only make the trip more economical for me as I’ll be spending less on fuel but will also be making it safer with the exhaust brake and improved hill climbing capabilities.

I’ll be in Geraldton for the next week or so as we finish installing the tractors new heart whilst also replacing steering components as well as various other components before tackling the Nullarbor in the coming weeks

Once again I cannot thank Lloyd and everyone in Geraldton who have volunteered time and parts to get me back on the road and to make this trip happen Thank-you everyone!!!

I have also received a new Royal Flying Doctor’s badge which I have put on my Akubra hat to help hide some of my home made repairs which I have made with fencing wire up front to hold the band on.

Hinterland Auto Electrics

Ronnie Wilson operated out of Shed 2, 14 Lawyer Street, Maleny as Hinterland Auto Electrics. He was a well known Maleny resident.

Ron was well known as a problem solver, especially on pre-computerised vehicles. He was a keen supported of “muscle cars”.

Maleny has changed significantly over the past 40 years, but many of the town’s characters continued to be remembered by generations of those still living in Maleny. Times might change - but memories might fade, but are never forgotten!
