NEWS IN BRIEF Lloyd Werft hands over MY Solaris Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven, which is part of the MV Werften Group, handed over the 140m long Solaris on 27 May 2021. The handover marked the successful completion of this extra-ordinary project, which has been realised over several years of planning and building. The final phase of the project began with the floating out of the yacht at the shipyard at the end of February. This was followed by sea-trials in the North Sea and interior fitting out work, all of which has now been concluded. “We are very proud that we have mastered this challenge”, says Lloyd Werft Projects and Sales Director Friedrich Norden. “In many respects Solaris is a masterpiece. A number of very individual demands, some of them never experienced before in yacht building, have been incorporated into this project.”

Innovative new support ship PHI Phantom launched by Alia Yachts PHI Phantom, part of the Phi Project, features striking in-house design, exterior styling by Cor D. Rover, and naval architecture by Van Oossanen. This support ship is built to cross oceans carrying the tenders and toys for which the mothership has no garage to stow. PHI Phantom is now undergoing final sea-trials and will be delivered to the owner in June. A sleek and muscular new predator has been taken to the seas with the launch of a 36m custom support vessel by Alia Yachts. Earlier this month, the Turkish yard painstakingly drove the fully aluminium yacht out of the building halls and lifted it into the water in Antalya using a 200t travel lift. PHI Phantom, part of the PHI Project, is a fine example of the yard’s metalworking skills, and features a striking in-house interior design. Destined to support the custom superyacht PHI by Royal Huisman, PHI Phantom reflects many elements of the larger yacht’s design.

Benetti launches 65m Zazou Benetti is proud to announce the launch of M/Y Zazou, a 65m full custom yacht with sleek and sinuous lines. The steel hull was painted at the request of the owner, a frequent Benetti customer, in an elegant Carinthia blue colour; and the superstructure is made with aluminium. The external lines are by Giorgio M. Cassetta and the interiors, as well as some of the external spaces, are by Dutch studio Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. The yacht, which accommodates twelve people in six double cabins, has one of the largest sun decks in its category with a gym, a 5m long swimming pool, and an outdoor cinema on top of another cinema area on the main deck. Two Caterpillar 3512C engines allow the yacht to navigate autonomously for 8,000km at a cruising speed of 15 knots.
