ClcJr kies and the crisp October air added to the Jtmosphere of Homccommg tght 1968, a night which proved to be a complete success for Spartan partisans. Though the victory eemcd certain and ttme seemed to crawl, each fan wrapped another blanket around himself and lustily cheered until the clock ran out. After the partan vtctory, many students went home to thaw out and cllJnge clothes, then returned for a succes ful Homecoming dJnce with Jerry Kaye, WI G disc-jockey.

HOMECOMING TRADIT 0 The clas of '69, notonous for the breaking of Waynesville illgh School tradit1ons, continued their iconoclastic ways at Homecoming. Instead of the usual king, queen, and one pau of attendants from each class, the cho1ce of king and queen was kept a surpnse until half time; and then the royal couple was chosen from a group of four sen10r couples.

SILKY SATIN SPARTANS VICTORIOUS
Faces framed by fading sunlight, coach Eric Florence and senior Connie Bradley watch their team pull through a tense moment. 50
With grim determination Becky Conner, senior, totes the pigskin over the goal line, gaining two points for her team.

The mud and biting cold remained unchanged, but one distinguishing factor made the 1968 powder puff football game different from last ye:u's. The I reshman- "enior" ilky a tin p:utans" were victorious over the ophomore-Junior "Petticoat Pouncers" 16-0. \\inning touchdowns were. '
made by Jackie Morgan and B:ub:ua Bradley. Barb:ua and Becky Conner mal-.ing the extra point~. But, in spite of freezing temperatures, both girls and coache\, Jerry Caudill, Eric I· Iorence, Bill Diamond, and Jim Heffner had a grand time prcp:uing for the showdown. 51
SENIORS HAZE FRESHMEN
Pam Click and Pam Helterbridle get pushed and dragged into the "upper class" way of life at W.H.S. 52
One of the many traditions broken by the class of '69 was that of freshman initiation. Instead of being held at night, the "fun" took ()lace all day at school. Girls clad in daddy's dainty overalls, their lovely locks dressed with flowery ribbons, raced through the hall . Boys came prepared for both warm and cold weather in a combination of
long underwear and shorts, topped off by backwards teeshirts. Every freshman's speech was slightly impaired by the pink or blue pacifier which filled hi mouth, though this was more pleasant than the mouthful of Iimburger cheese each reCel\:ed. 53

SING-OUT
" p, up with people ..."This has become the theme for Waynesville's ing-Out, a branch of the national organization for moral rearmament and the building of future leaders in America. nder the direction of Mr. Lucian l latfield, l G-OUT WAY E VILLE has grown from thirty to one hundred fifty members. It is he who is responsible for the powerful impact the group has made in the Warren County area. Why do so many students want to belong to Smg-Out?
