The hidden power behind your words Do you know the true power of your words? Most people aren’t aware of the impact of what they say, especially in relation to their inner dialogue, the seeds of every success and failure. Here is why it is a good idea to know how powerful they are. In a study, a group of people were placed in a room. Each person was given a card with several words on it. They all had to create sentences using these words. Unknown to the people in the group, the words related to the topic of ageing and included words like ‘walking stick’, ‘senior citizen’, and ‘pension’. At the completion of the experiment, the people walked out slower than they walked in; as if they had literally absorbed the words, becoming older! If this can happen in a simple experiment, imagine how your words could impact your goals, health, business or relationships? A classic example of the impact of inspiring words is Martin Luther King’s ‘I had a dream’ speech. His words fuelled his vision and were the seeds that inspired thousands of people and created massive change. Your words have power, so be careful what you say. Start with observing your inner dialogue and replace all negative and self-defeating words and statements with positive, empowering words and statements.
