I don’t know about you all, but I am ready for some cooler temperatures and no more afternoon thunderstorms. As we work our way out of the heat of summer and into the fall, I want to remind everyone that our course aerification will be the Tuesday – Friday the week of Labor Day. Those dates are September 8th through the 11th which is a bit later this year due to Labor Day falling so late. This process is never fun for any golf course but has to be done in order to keep healthy green complexes and course conditions. The healing process usually takes about two to three weeks so I would remind you that as we work our way through this process, it is probably not the best time to entertain guests here at the club but is a great opportunity to maybe plan a trip or two to our other McConnell Golf Properties and see what all they have to offer. Should you have guests already scheduled to come, we will only charge the family guest rate all month while course conditions are not at a premium. While the course is closed for aerification, the Golf Shop hours will be as follows: Tuesday & Wednesday: Closed, Practice Facility Closed Thursday & Friday: Open from 9am to 3pm, Practice Facility Open from 12pm to 6pm Hopefully by the time you are reading this, we are inching our way back to some normalcy amidst this COVID-19 pandemic. Here are a few things to remember with regards to your golf experience here at the club. Proper dress code for both the course & practice facility is required Check in prior to your round with the Golf Shop, especially if you have guests Continue to repair your ball marks & replace your divots While we prefer a 4 hour & 15 minute pace of play, if you can go faster, do so Please observe any & all cart restrictions which are posted daily on the tee sheet & pinsheet Personal coolers are prohibited The course & practice facility is CLOSED on Mondays, walking the course is prohibited. Back in July, we hosted the Carolinas Girls Junior Championship. The event was won by Joon Jang of Hilton Head Island, SC. She shot a 3 day total of eleven under par. Both Jang and Alexia Siehl shot our ladies competitive course record of 66 (from 6000 yards). We would also like to recognize our 2020 Ladies Club Champion Janna Moran and our Net Club Champion Doris Pace on their fine play during the Ladies Club Championship in August. We also contested our Couples Club Championship on August 9th and would like to recognize Wayne & Ingrid DiCastri as our Net Champions and Garrett & Darragh Greene as our Gross Champions. Our men’s club championships will be contested later in August and early September and we will recognize them in our next newsletter.
