CLUB UPDATE A NOTE FROM YOUR TRIAD REGIONAL DIRECTOR I cannot think of a better opening than a heartfelt congratulations to our very own Eric Ferguson on his recent, well-deserved promotion to the Director of Golf at Sedgefield Country Club. From leading a seamless Member-Guest early in the interim period to effectively running day-today operations and everything in between, he made a noticeable positive impact. Another win for the golf operation was Eric's immediate promotion of Josh Webb to Head Professional. I am excited for the golf programming enhancements these two gentlemen and the entire golf operations team have in store for our members in the 2022 golf season and beyond. And a warm congratulations also to Josh Webb for being named the CPGA Assistant of the Year. The holiday season is now in the rearview mirror, but your good deeds will be long-lasting with over $100,000 of charitable giving in 2021 by Sedgefield members, community, and staff. The right side of this page as well as the following one includes pictures and comments for three of our most significant charitable programs. A huge thanks goes to everyone who contributed their time, money, and efforts to pay it forward in the Triad.
GIVING BACK TO THE HEALTH CARE HEROES AT CONE HEALTH CANCER CENTER
Thanks to the great team pictured above: Maya Panayotova, Joaquin Campos, Jay Wess, Gaby Palacio, Sedgefield members Ron and Kari Gaffé, Chef Ron Gordils, Will Powers, and Travis Huddleston
We reference our Sedgefield Family and Cardinal Family often and I'd like to share the sincerity of those references for me personally. Towards the end of 2021, I was honored to be named the Carolinas CMAA Club Manager of the Year. As much as receiving this award meant to me, I was more honored to receive so many phone calls, emails, text messages, and cards from our members. Your heartfelt words of congratulations more than solidified that we are indeed like family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your congratulations and for your support.
The new year is underway and your staff is ready to embrace all the new challenges and new opportunities that lie ahead. Please join me in thanking them for their optimism and persistence every day. I am so proud and thankful for my work family. Cheers, Beverly Marler
HAPPY 90TH BIRTHDAY MR. BOB KENNERLY
The tradition continues as Sedgefield Members and community came together once again to raise funds to feed Thanksgiving lunch to the staff at Cone Health Cancer Center. The Food and Beverage team at Sedgefield prepared and delivered 220 Thanksgiving meals on Thursday, November 18 to a very grateful group of folks. Mr. Bob Kennerly turned 90 years young on December 6 and celebrated the milestone at a special dinner with friends. Mr. Kennerly is a long-time member of The Cardinal whose contributions over the years are appreciated and abundant. Happy Birthday Mr. Kennerly!!
SEDGEFIELD TIMES
Special thanks to Sedgefield members Ron and Kari Gaffé for spearheading this effort and to the Sedgefield Staff for their collaboration! This tradition has become a very rewarding kick-off to the holiday season.
