GOVERNORS’ YEAR IN REVIEW
A transformative year of innovation, inclusion, and growth has set new standards in preparatory education at Balmoral Hall School. Governors, administrators, directors, faculty, and staff have been integrating technology, fostering inclusivity, and sparking curiosity to provide unparalleled learning experiences that extend beyond traditional classrooms. As we reflect on the past 12 months, a shared commitment to continuous improvement is evident.
In an era where technology plays a crucial role in education, Balmoral Hall School continues to ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed in a rapidly evolving world. 2023–2024 brought additional microcredentials to our Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (TIE) certificate, including mechatronics, esports, and more. As students develop essential skills for the future, not only for post-secondary study, but for a lifetime of success in a tech-driven world, we are excited about our focus on innovation in preparatory education.
Inclusivity remains the keystone of Balmoral Hall School’s vision as we have taken further steps to build a welcoming, supportive community surrounding all students. In creating a safe and inclusive environment, we help them feel empowered to reach their full potential. This includes sustaining a variety of future-focused programs that meet the diverse pursuits of our children.
Through project-based learning, interdisciplinary study, and community service, we encourage critical thinking and creativity with a strong emphasis on personalized learning. As they pursue their individual interests, strengths, and goals, students benefit from our modern approach to girls’ education. Faculty at Balmoral Hall School not only cultivate students’ growth but also help them design a well-balanced foundation for their academic and professional endeavours.
Graduates of Balmoral Hall School, including my daughter, Anneliese Gasmen ’24, go on to attend highly regarded post-secondary institutions worldwide. Wherever their paths lead, to London, Ontario or to London, England, futures take flight thanks to the investment you have made in their education. Thank you for entrusting us with their potential.
KELLY GASMEN, P ’24
Sincere gratitude, also, to André Kriening, P ’24, whose term as a governor ended in 2024. I wish to welcome Simon Marchand, P ’31, ’33, and ’39, Sarah Murdoch ’04, and Pam Williams ’99 to our Board of Governors. We recognize that the world is changing at an unprecedented pace, and it is our responsibility to ensure that Balmoral Hall School evolves accordingly.
“ A wise woman once said to me that there are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these she said is roots, the other, wings. ”

HEAD OF SCHOOL’S STRATEGIC BRIEF
I
n 2024, the landscape of girls’ education has undergone significant transformation globally, propelled by innovative practices, technological advancements, and the steadfast support of an educational community such as ours. This transformation is characterized by a shift towards more inclusive and equitable learning environments, where girls are empowered to reach their full potential. Since Fall 2023, we have been collaborating to refresh our current strategic vision for 2025–2030. Your insights will guide Balmoral Hall School’s growth. Together, let’s continue to recognize girls’ intelligence, to encourage their voices, and to further their ambitions.
WE’RE BECOMING A GLOBALLY RECOGNIZED AND TRUSTED BRAND.
Inclusive learning environments are essential for the success of girls throughout their early, primary, and secondary education. Teachers are at the heart of educational transformation, serving as the driving force behind meaningful change in the classroom and beyond. We continuously strive to create spaces at Balmoral Hall School where every student feels valued, respected, and motivated.
WE’RE BUILDING AN UNLIMITED LEARNING COMMUNITY.
Proficiency in technology is increasingly becoming a prerequisite. Equipping girls with digital literacy and coding skills at Balmoral Hall School empowers them through technology. We inspire girls to pursue their interests in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, fields that are crucial for innovation and progress in our society.
WE’RE CREATING A CULTURE OF PHILANTHROPY AND FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY.
Engaging the wider community, including local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and civic groups, allows us to offer internships, workshops, and real-world learning experiences that enrich students’ educational journeys. Through these interactions, girls gain valuable insights, learn to navigate challenges, and feel empowered to take on leadership roles within their community. Furthermore, as parents, alumni, and friends of Balmoral Hall School come together to support our strategic vision, your involvement in school events, fundraising initiatives, and community partnerships contributes to a sense of belonging and shared purpose.

FOUNDATION UPDATE
I
n 1992, a small group of visionaries led by William Watchorn, P ’97 created Balmoral Hall School Foundation for endowment. Since then, we have grown from a $20,000 gift in 2001 to an endowment of $4.7M today. More than $1M has been disbursed from endowment in the past 10 years.
In Spring 2024, our flagship fundraiser, an online auction, raised a record $112,000, exceeding last year’s total by $37,000.
The Class of 2024 endowed $51,051 for student bursaries. This tradition, which started with Balmoral Hall School’s Class of 2018, has continued every year in succession. Through her estate, as a member of our Meliora Petens Legacy Society, an alumna contributed $50,000 to a new Campus Endowment Fund.
This success comes from the dedication of individuals, families, alumni, and faculty. With a strong Foundation team, engaged volunteers, and the guidance of financial advisor Val Wowryk at Richardson Wealth, we continue to raise the profile of our endowment. I would like to thank everyone who has invested their time and money in BH Foundation throughout 2023–2024.
Our mission has evolved from disbursing financial aid to supporting innovative programming, campus enhancements, and more, with a goal of creating an exceptional experiemce for all students. We have nearly reached our goal of $5M endowed by 2025, enabling us to welcome more Girls of Promise and continue supporting Balmoral Hall School’s growth.
