A large colourfully painted branch was the centerpiece for the sticks decorative which were display ed in bright vases. Also surrounding the raised garden beds were many assorted clay and plasticine creations.

Families had an opportunity to have a light refreshment and converse with other families. We kept a large grassy section open for the children to run their energy off. Soccer balls, frisbees and a climber were popular. The girls also showed their family and friends their secret hiding spot through the bushes. I can remember hearing laughter and conversation and most of all seeing the bright smiling faces of everyone there. Upon reflection, I think I was most impressed that when I looked around, I was very hard pressed to find anyone on their mobile devices. Everyone was living in the moment! In true Reggio Emilia form, the next day we reflected with the children what their thoughts were about the art gallery. Below are some comments:
Recycled birdhouses made from plastic bottles hung in the trees. The girls spent time discussing what they knew of birds before they began creating. They chose colourful acrylic paint and decorated plastic bottles in a manner they thought would attract birds.
