INSPIRED BY

a fateful trip to Morocco

l viaggio dei Rolling Stones in Morocco è il tema a cui si ispira Messagerie per la collezione uomo primavera estate 2017. La ricerca dei canoni dell’ eleganza degli anni ’50 si contrappongono ai cambiamenti culturali degli anni ’70. Come la sonorità dei Rolling Stones è opposta alla musica araba-andalusa, anche Messagerie esalta gli opposti miscelando tradizione sartoriale e trasgressione: colori delle spezie/ colori naturali, tessuti tecnici e volumi slim/over. I tessuti sono naturali in lino-cotone-lana, tramati ad effetto tridimensionale, stampe geometriche effetto timbro, ispirate ai disegni delle piastrelle marocchine, shantung e lane super120 per tuxedo dal taglio impeccabile, sviluppo di armature jaquard per le giacche, camicia rigorosamente lavata, filati stampati, fiammati e mouliné in lino-cotone per la maglieria dai pesi contrapposti, o in finezza 3 fatta a mano o in finezza 21 effetto t-shirt. Ricerca estrema del denim, sia elasticizzato ma anche 14oz lavorato su vecchi telai “opened”. Denim in doppio ritorto in cotone e filato tecnico stampato all’interno, per confezionare capispalla e pantaloni sartoriali. Rielaborazione del tessuto cerato che da sempre è il “tessuto Messagerie” con una palette di colori innovativa.

FATEFUL TRIP TO MOROCCO: mix and match di stili, fantasia, colori, eleganza disordinato/ordinato, contraddizioni eccessive, un viaggio ispirato alla bellezza e alla libertà. HONEST SIMPLICITY: voglia di riflessione, ritrovarsi con la natura, un grande lusso che si trasmette con una palette di colori del biano al naturale, lineee morbide, giacca camicia, pantaloni over. A NEW AFFAIR – TRUE LOVE: tuxedo e accessori per la cerimonia, tagli sartoriali e tessuti resinati su abiti con dettagli ricercati pensati anche per la sera sostituendo il pantalone smoking con un pantalone ispirazione jogging in fresco lana. SARTORIAL DENIM Giacche, pantaloni, camicie, maglie, tutto in filato indaco pensato e sviluppato per confezionare sartorialmente i capi, un passepartout per tutte le occasioni anche le più formali. UTILITY ARTISAN La storia di Messagerie, capi tradizionali di ricerca del worker/ militare, trasformati e confezionati in modo artigianali, trattati e lavati a “mano sale” per avere un aspetto vissuto ma moderno, sahariane, fatigue, chinos in tela – maglie a trame larghe sono i capisaldi di questo tema.

Messagerie sviluppa la collezione su 3 famiglie di colori Naturali: bianco, avorio, sabbia, greige, biscotto, off white Desaturati: colori pastello, azzurro, rosa antico, giallo. Colori tenui come se fossero scoloriti dal sole Blue indaco protagonista insieme alle sfumature safari Nero e blu scuro nelle diverse gradazioni e luminosità.

Messagerie Concept

he Rolling Stones’ trip to Morocco is the theme that inspires Messagerie Spring Summer 2017 men's collection. The search for elegance standards of the 50's contrasts with the cultural changes of the '70s. As the sounds of the Rolling Stones contrast with Arab-Andalusian music, even Messagerie enhances the opposites mixing tailoring tradition and transgression: colour of spices and natural colours, technical fabrics and slim / over volumes. The fabrics are natural, linen-cotton-wool, textured with three-dimensional effect, geometric prints with stamp effect, which recall the design of Moroccan tiles; shantung and super120 wool for impeccably-cut tuxedoes, jacquard textures for jackets, rigorously washed shirts; linen-cotton printed, slub and mouliné yarns for the knitwear with different weights, or 3-gg handmade knits or 21-gg knits t-shirt effect. Extreme search for denim, both stretch and 14oz worked on the old "opened" frames. Double twisted cotton denim and technical printed inside yarn, in order to manufacture jackets and tailored trousers. Reworking of waxed fabric that has always been “Messagerie fabric” with a palette of new colours. Messagerie collection develops on three colour ranges: Natural: white, ivory, sand, greige, biscuit, off white Desaturated: pastel colours, light blue, antique pink, yellow Soft colours as discolored by the sun. Indigo blue is protagonist along with safari shades Black and dark blue in different shades and brightness

FATEFUL TRIP TO MOROCCO: mix and match styles, patterns, colours, messy / orderly elegance, excessive contradictions, inspired by the beauty and freedom. HONEST SIMPLICITY: desire for reflection, find ourselves with nature, a great luxury that is conveyed by a palette from white to natural colour, soft lines, shirt-jacket, over pants. A NEW AFFAIR - TRUE LOVE: tuxedo and accessories for the ceremony, tailored cuts and coated fabrics on suits with refined details designed also for the evening to replace tuxedo trousers with light wool jogging-inspired pants. SARTORIAL DENIM Jackets, pants, shirts, knitwear, all made of indigo yarns designed and developed to tailor-make garments, a passe-partout for every occasion even the most formal one. UTILITY ARTISAN The history of Messagerie, traditional garments inspired by worker / military, changed and handmade, treated and “salt hand” washed to get a worn but modern look, safari jackets, fatigues, canvas chinos, large mesh knits are the cornerstones of this theme.

By themselves, the images captured by Cecil Beaton in the course of his remarkable career recount fifty years of history of glamor, revealing the secret face of queens and princesses, divas show business, fashion and art legends. No one more than he, could make his subjects feel at ease, encouraging them to set the target without fear, to snatch the most intimate charm. But if those same photos are accompanied comments often poisonous that the famous British photographer collected in his diaries after each meeting, then each shot takes on an even more original size, revealing an unexpected behind the scenes, made of flaws, rumors and why no, even gossip.

ROLLING STONES FALLING IN LOVE WITH MARRAKECH DURING THE TRIP IN THE END OF SIXTIES.

Certain cities are for ever twinned with great pop stars, usually as the scenes of their childhoods or their first musical inspiration. One cannot mention Liverpool without picturing The Beatles, or Memphis without lamenting the tragedy of Elvis Presley. But it’s for somewhat different reasons that the spirit of The Rolling Stones haunts Marrakech. The Stones discovered Morocco in the mid-Sixties, lured by the ‘anything goes’ atmosphere that had fascinated the British since Casablanca lit up our cinema screens during the Second World War. Marrakech became the band’s favourite bolthole from the outrage they had unleashed in Europe with their disgracefully long hair (as it seemed then) and raw, sexy music. There they could escape their persecutors and fans alike, strutting around in hooded djellabas and Berber jewellery, plundering the souk for carpets and ornaments to fill their mansions, and, above all, gobbling down the drugs that were openly available on every street corner
