Brave world by Aldous Huxley
Reading a dystopian novel is not an easy task so I decided to start with one that really caught my attention from the very beginning, it is “ Brave World “ written by Aldous Huxley. Aldous Huxley is an English novelist who is very well know for his disruptive diagnosis which was set in a futuristic world state of genetically modified citizens and an intelligence – based on social hierarchy. The anticipation of huge scientific developments in reproductive technology , sleep – learning or psychological manipulation may be aspects that are still generating considerable controversy . When it comes to ethical issues the notion of an utopian society challenged only by a single outsider should be deeply reprobated. I dare say that Huxley is a fantastic representative of transhumanism , a cultural and intellectual movement whose main goal is to transform the human condition . “ Brave World “ is such a brillian critique where the reader will be tempted to analyse the positive and negative aspects of this future alienation of humanity . From the point of view of science psychological manipulation is still in the spotlight because it is considered to be abusive as well as explotative although scientis do not take for granted that scientific developments such as the manipulation of genetic code will suppose a desired solution for many genetic diseases. The novel requires a thorough reading , the plot is complex because is full of social satirist but the reader will be amazed by this frightening vision of the future , a future that does not seem to be very far away. Does the human being want to be inmortal ? Is the human being prepared to decide to modify the gentic code of a new born baby in order to cure a genetic disease ? Should the national health service pay for this kind of medical practice ? by doing so , will be people happier ? Will they be living in a healthier world or the humam being wiil just end up being a mere robot ? To sum up , this novel put into question a ascetic lifestyle in order to purify the human being of civilization.
