from the president COVID-19 continues to dominate our lives and impact our way of life. With no spectator sports, no shows, no concerts, no events, our social and recreational options in life are currently limited. As humans, we cannot remain entirely detached. Fortunately, our Club provides a refuge for us to safely eat, drink, stay fit, enjoy the pool and engage in small group activities. Like you, I am tired of hearing that these are “challenging times,” but they are – and the MAC affords us the opportunity to retain a sense of normalcy and continue to build memories and forge relationships at a time when we need them most. In short, our Club experience is as important and relevant as ever. Our Members and employees express feelings of safety at the Club. Outdoor dining at the MAC’s West Clubhouse is just one example of the safe, social access the Club provides. Consistent application of cleaning protocols and the current reservation practice ensures social distancing and a safe environment. By following the guidelines, wearing our masks and following hygiene procedures, we each do our part to protect each other. At this writing, most of our facilities are (or will soon be) operating at 100 percent capacity, and many of the abundance of amenities our Members relish have returned. Members are particularly enjoying the newly completed Phase Two fitness areas. We held two weddings at the Downtown Clubhouse in June and helped make the dreams of

two young couples a reality. Our friendly, experienced and service-oriented staff is ready to help you plan an appropriate occasion for your family or business and exceed your expectations. While our membership remained resilient since the start of the pandemic, some of our Members could not sustain their membership owing to the disruption of COVID on their lives. We hope to welcome all of those Members back to the Club when certainty returns for them. In the meantime, we recognize that membership is the lifeblood of our Club, so we must seek new Members. A thriving and engaged membership sustains our Club. We are all part of the MAC membership team. Who better to convey the unrivaled value of an MAC membership than a current Member who recognizes the impact of the Club on their life and the lives of their family members; Members who have made lifetime business and personal relationships at a Platinum Club of America? Our colleagues, acquaintances, customers, vendors and service providers represent opportunities to expand our Club. Our membership staff stands ready to help cultivate potential Members and introduce them to the Club. As you promote the Club, you can send your member prospects to Rodney Stoyer, Director of Membership at rstoyer@macstl.org. Rodney or another colleague from the membership staff will engage with your prospect and highlight aspects of the Club that may appeal to them, whether

it is athletics and fitness, dining, social, business, networking, Clubs Within the Club or reciprocal club opportunities. August is Foundations’ Month. We are grateful for how our Members and the public support our foundations. The current signature endeavor is the Trulaske Project. The Robert J. Trulaske Family Foundation that supports historic buildings made a lead donation to the MAC Preservation Foundation for the restoration of the exterior of our Downtown Clubhouse. That project is nearly halfway complete. We expect the project to finish in September, and the newly installed lighting at the top of the Clubhouse will illuminate the building for all to appreciate. Foundations’ Month ends with the golf tournament at Glen Echo on Aug. 31. While golf spots are sold out, there are plenty of opportunities to support the outing, including attending the dinner and donating auction items. Please contact Katie Maurer, Director of Special Events at kmaurer@mac-stl.org. Our Club is open. In the unusual times in which we find ourselves, the MAC is our second home and provides a welcome departure from our home offices and the limited opportunities currently available outside our homes. I hope to see you at the Club soon!
