As we wrap up 2024, it’s hard to believe we’ve reached the end of another incredible year. This issue of Beauty Biz Magazine is a special one—not just because it’s our last for the year, but because it marks the end of an era. From 2025, we will be rebranded as Mocha Beauty, a new chapter that reflects the evolution of the Mocha Group and our continued dedication to the beauty industry.

This rebrand is more than a new name—it’s a fresh opportunity to bring even greater focus, energy, and value to you, our readers. Through Mocha Beauty, we’ll continue to showcase the incredible talent, innovations, and stories that make our industry so dynamic and inspiring.

Looking back, 2024 has been a year filled with milestones and achievements. The ABIA 2024 Beauty Squad winners were announced, and in January, they will gather for the Beauty Squad House, an extraordinary opportunity for these rising stars to connect, learn, and grow alongside industry mentors. It’s initiatives like these that remind us why we love what we do: celebrating the passion and drive that define our community.

This issue also highlights some of the incredible people and businesses that are shaping the future of the beauty industry. From innovative products and cutting-edge treatments to inspiring stories of resilience and success, we’ve packed this edition with everything you need to wrap up the year feeling informed, inspired, and empowered. Each story is a testament to the talent and determination that drives this industry forward.

As we embrace the festive period, I encourage you to take a moment to pause and reflect. This is a time for recharging your batteries and reconnecting with the people and moments that matter most.

Whether you’re planning some much-needed downtime, prioritising self-care, or dreaming big for 2025, take the time to truly enjoy what’s most meaningful to you.

Remember, as we head into a new year, that what you’re not changing, you are choosing. It’s the perfect opportunity to reassess what’s working, what isn’t, and what you truly want to carry with you into 2025. Be intentional, map out your goals, and focus on building the life and business you desire.

When January arrives, let’s step into it with purpose. A new year brings new opportunities, and as the saying goes, where focus goes, energy flows. Make time for what matters most—your health, your loved ones, and your growth.

On behalf of the entire team, thank you for being part of our Beauty Biz journey. It has been an honour to share your stories and celebrate your achievements. We are thrilled to continue this exciting journey with you as Mocha Beauty in 2025.

Here’s to closing the year with gratitude and taking the time to rest, reset, and recharge for all that’s ahead.

With love and hugs,

Building on a Legacy of Excellence

After more than 20 years of empowering salon and spa owners to build successful, thriving businesses, Faye Murray is retiring from coaching. Yet her legacy will not only live on but evolve in the hands of someone extraordinary: Elle Huempel.

With nearly two decades of experience leading teams, driving innovation, and delivering award-winning results, Elle is ready to take the reins and bring her fresh perspective, expertise, and passion to the coaching world.

Faye, who has guided countless businesses and professionals to achieve their goals, speaks with heartfelt confidence about this transition:

“I believe someone was looking after me to connect me with Elle. Some months ago, I had been considering retiring later in the year, but my main concern was finding someone who would continue coaching my special clients. Then, I received a call from Leanne Morris, who, along with her partner Tracey Ivanovski, had owned Harbour Day Spa in Brisbane. She shared that their exceptional manager, Elle, was considering stepping into business coaching and asked if I could connect with her.

After spending time with Elle, I knew she was the perfect fit. Her knowledge of business and team management is outstanding, her financial and marketing acumen is remarkable, and, most importantly, she cares deeply about people. She is approachable, forward-thinking, and has a natural gift for empowering others. I am confident she will continue my work and bring incredible value to every client she supports.”

Elle’s career is a testament to her ability to lead and inspire. As the former manager of Harbour Day Spa—named “Best Spa Team in the World” in 2022—Elle has created high-performing teams and fostered cultures of collaboration and growth. Her expertise spans team development, financial management, marketing strategy, and delivering exceptional client experiences.

But it’s her dedication to people that truly sets her apart. Elle has a personalised approach to coaching, tailoring her strategies to the unique needs of each business.

Below, she shares her vision, philosophy, and plans for the future, with Beauty Biz Editor Louise May

Leading a team that won “Best Spa Team in the World” is an incredible achievement. What was the key to building such a successful and cohesive team

There’s definitely no “I” in team. By consistently striving to deliver the highest of quality service and delivery in every area including team culture, the environment, communication and daily positive energy, I was able to support and celebrate all of the wins both big and small, so it wasn’t just about our skill but our ability to work together as a “work family” and in doing this was able to deliver an exceptional client experience every time.

Taking over from Faye Murray is no small task. What inspired you to step into the world of coaching, and how does it feel for her to hand over the reins to you?

You’re right, no it’s not a small task, Faye leaves big shoes to fill, and I look forward to meeting absolutely everyone from her journey, continuing her journey in the industry. Honoured still doesn’t feel like it gives it enough credit of how I feel, but truly I am so honoured and proud, to be able to continue her legacy. What inspired me? Harbour Day Spa & Salon, where I spent a lot of my career. Although it was never my own business, it provided me with the invaluable firsthand mentorship, leadership and management, and the power of growth driven by hard work structure and effective systems. This inspired me to become a coach, driven by passion to support as many business owners as possible to receive the same amount of success.

You have a customised approach to coaching. What does that look like in practice, and how do you adapt your strategies to different businesses?

I understand no two business are the same, no two goals are identical, and no two strengths or challenges are alike, so by being the coach I am that can listen, adapt and accommodate for the needs of each and every business owner. With every business having its own “DNA” I am invested in helping achieve profitable success and overcome challenges tailored to what aligns with your business’s vision and goals. Not only do I offer the option to coach and train via Zoom and phone but face to face from time to time in clinic or on site from as an alternate option as well.

Having worked in both operational and leadership roles, what do you think are the biggest challenges facing the hair and beauty industry today?

Work life balance employment opportunities; the perfect balance that suits the employee and the employer, trying to find multi skilled staff to provide more opportunities for business owners and the fear of financial pressures and rising costs.

You’ve revitalised and transitioned businesses successfully. What’s one financial strategy you believe every salon or spa owner should focus on?

Know your budget! Be firm and fair with it. Delegate roles and responsibilities to your key staff to be able to complete the project successfully. Remembering communication is key throughout the entire project.

As someone who has juggled family, business, and leadership roles, how do you coach others to find balance in their personal and professional lives?

Time Management, know when to wear what hat at what time, it is hard, but when you learn, it works!

Faye Murray has built an incredible legacy. What do you hope to build upon, and what’s your ultimate vision for the businesses you work with, moving forward?

Hasn’t she ever! I am convinced she knows everyone in the country!! Faye has had the most incredible career. A true passion of mine is customer service, the growth of someone becoming the best version of themselves, Coaching in the Spa Industry, and education and exposure to the younger emerging community.

What is it about the hair and beauty industry that continues to inspire you after all these years?

The possibilities are endless, availability of new treatments, services and machinery, creativity of so many individuals in the industry, clients, and their expectations, I love people, so in this industry the client’s and the professionals inspire me!

A New Era Begins

As Faye reflects on this significant transition, she shares what makes Elle truly exceptional: “Elle understands and has managed large teams of 20-plus across hair, beauty, and spa for 17 years. She is approachable, with a care factor that is essential for a coach. She understands the financial side of business, is forward-thinking with marketing, and has brilliant ideas for growth. She’s strong in team training and development, and, most importantly, she’s a genuinely lovely person.”

“The last few weeks have been an emotional ride for me. I’ve shared so much with my clients over the years—many of whom I’ve worked with for over 15–20 years. We’ve laughed, celebrated, and navigated tough decisions together. It has been an absolute privilege to be part of their journeys. Now, I look forward to seeing them continue to thrive with Elle’s guidance, and I will remain involved in the industry I love, catching up with everyone at events in 2025.”

With Elle at the helm, a new chapter begins—one filled with opportunity, growth, and the same care and excellence that have defined Faye’s career. For businesses looking to achieve their full potential, this is just the beginning.

Getting Your Salon Ready for Christmas: The Ultimate Guide to a Festive & Profitable Season

Preparing your salon for Christmas requires planning and creativity to create a festive and welcoming atmosphere that attracts both regular clients and new visitors. It is so important that you actively apply a meticulously structured approach to help you get ready for the holiday season.

As we approach the holiday season, many salon owners are feeling the pressures of a challenging economy. With inflation and rising overheads, spending habits have changed, and client bookings may have slowed. That’s why being wellprepared for the festive rush isn’t just being organised, it’s essential to ensure the most successful outcomes with bookings and increased revenue.

When you take the time to plan out your Christmas season in detail, you’re setting up your business to reduce stress and increase profitability. Knowing exactly what your goals are, what promotions you’ll run, and how much revenue you’re aiming to generate can give you a clear roadmap for success and a cushion to carry you through slower periods in the new year.

Maximising Revenue with a festive sales strategy

Executing a successful holiday sales strategy requires not only careful planning but also, a team that’s fully on board. The Christmas season brings in vital revenue to cover the increased expenses that come with end of year wage bills, additional stock orders, and other business costs. This extra cash flow not only helps cover holiday expenses but can also set you up with a nest egg to support the salon in quieter months. For some owners, this might even mean creating a budget to invest in staff training, new equipment, or a fresh look for the clinic in the new year.

Empowering Your Team for Success

Communication with your team is essential to drive Christmas sales. Make sure your staff are aware of what’s on offer and how to present these seasonal promotions to clients in a way that feels genuine and engaging. A well-trained team is your biggest asset in the holiday season, and by providing clear instructions and training around these offers, you’ll equip them to confidently close sales and deliver an exceptional experience.

Leveraging Holiday Marketing

The Christmas season is one of the most profitable times of the year for salons, so having a well-defined sales strategy is crucial. From festive promotions to special Christmas packages and gift card sales, a clear plan will help maximise your revenue potential and attract new clients while exciting your loyal ones. Leverage every marketing channel available. Create themed social media posts, send out festive email newsletters, and add in-salon signage to keep clients informed and excited about your offers.

Whether it’s bundling popular treatments, offering limited-edition holiday products, or creating incentives for gift card purchases, now is the time to build a strategy that aligns with your salon’s brand and meets the needs of your clients during this special time. With the right approach, you’ll create a festive season that’s joyful, profitable, and sets you up for a bright new year.

Planning Your Christmas Marketing Strategy Early

It’s never too early to start thinking about your Christmas sales and offerings. So, do you have your festive season strategy locked in? If you haven’t yet finalised it, don’t worry, there’s still time, but it’s crucial to act now. Planning holiday promotions early will ensure you’re prepared, stocked up, and ready to maximise every opportunity the season brings.

Timing is

Everything!!

Starting your Christmas marketing as early as September can make a world of difference. Early reminders encourage clients to book ahead, easing scheduling stress for both you and your clients. Begin by gently nudging clients with “Have you secured your Christmas appointment?” messages, and as you move into October and November, transition into promoting specific festive offers and services. To make sure the Christmas rush goes smoothly, take stock of your supplies. Place orders for everything you’ll need now, as many suppliers close through mid to late January. Having enough product on hand ensures you won’t miss out on sales simply because of inventory shortages, especially when clients are primed to buy.

Carly Knowles and Jodie Cartwright, Bella Pelle Body Clinic

Map out key dates like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, 12 Days of Xmas Sale and Boxing Day, as well as your own special promotions, to keep your marketing efforts organised and timely. A Holiday Marketing Calendar lets you visualise your entire campaign and keep track of what’s coming up. Once dates are set, add specific tasks, such as creating content or planning out social media posts. For instance, if you’re running a laser sale on December 2nd, schedule time to film a reel or story about the promotion. This keeps each event fresh and engaging without becoming overwhelming.

Choosing the Right Promotions

When selecting promotions, leverage Market Research and Audience Segmentation. Look back at past Christmas seasons, what worked well last year or the year before? Understanding your customers buying behaviours, preferences, and seasonal trends can ensure you create offers that truly resonate. By analysing this data, you can rework successful campaigns to keep them fresh and relevant. Audience segmentation is important because it involves identifying subgroups within your client base, allowing you to tailor messaging and promotions for stronger connections. For example, a younger audience may respond better to social media exclusive deals based around things like laser hair removal or tanning, while loyal clients might appreciate a VIP skin treatment package.

Deck the Halls…. Creating a Festive Atmosphere in Your Salon for Christmas

Setting the festive scene in your salon does more than add visual charm, it elevates the client experience and encourages people to indulge in holiday pampering. By creating a warm, festive ambiance, you’re not only delighting your clients but also boosting their emotional connection to your business, which can lead to loyalty and repeat visits.

Festive Décor

Transforming your salon for the Christmas period can start with subtle touches that reflect your brand’s style. Add seasonal decor like Christmas wreaths, twinkling lights, and perhaps a tasteful Christmas tree in the waiting area. These accents make clients feel like Christmas has arrived and enhances the overall client experience and excites people to buy. A well decorated shop front doesn’t just look great, it reflects attention to detail and professionalism, creating a memorable client experience that can set you apart from competitors. Plus, Christmas themed decor provides a perfect backdrop for social media posts and festive promotions.

Scented Ambiance

Engage the senses with diffusers or candles featuring warm, festive scents like cinnamon, pine, or vanilla. A cozy, seasonal fragrance helps create a comforting environment that clients will associate with your business long after they leave.

Music

Soft holiday background music can add to the mood. Choose calming, nonintrusive Christmas tunes that won’t overwhelm the relaxing environment of your space and can enhance the overall ambiance. Setting the right Christmas scene not only puts clients in a festive mood but also creates opportunities for engagement, sales, and long-term loyalty.

Xmas specials and Promotions

Crafting appealing holiday specials and promotions is key to turning the season into a prime revenue opportunity. Bundle popular services into festive packages…think “Glow for the Holidays” facials paired with a manicure or pedicure. Add value with a gift-with-purchase option or a small discount to make these packages attractive for both gift-giving and personal pampering.

Gift Cards and Vouchers

Promote gift cards as the perfect present for anyone. To boost sales, consider offering a small bonus (e.g. Bonus $20 extra with a $100 gift card purchase) or including a small, festive gift like a cookie or Christmas themed gift wrap.

Limited Edition Products

If you have retail items, introduce limited-edition or holiday-themed products, or collaborate with a local artisan to create custom beauty products for the season. Unique, festive products add a personal touch and make fantastic stocking stuffers.

Online Sales Opportunities

Create digital engagement with online sales during your holiday promotion period, like a “12 Days of Christmas” sale. Promote each day’s special deal via email, SMS, and social media. Each morning, jump onto social media with a quick video introducing the sale of the day. Whether it’s 50% off laser packages or a discount on blow-wave bundles. This daily engagement with your audience builds excitement and urgency while showcasing the convenience of purchasing through your website or by phone.

Providing multiple ways to buy, like local delivery, postage, and phone orders that can be added directly to clients files, removes barriers to purchase and adds a level of personal service that clients will appreciate.

The Power of Content Creation

Keeping your salon top of mind during the festive season is key to standing out in a competitive marketplace. Constantly creating content keeps you connected to clients between appointments without a heavy sales push. It also humanises your brand, creating brand awareness and building deeper client relationships. By sharing engaging Christmas content, you’re able to make your salon a memorable part of your customers festive experiences.

Remember, your holiday marketing efforts don’t just fill your books for Christmas— they establish strong foundations for client loyalty and engagement into the new year.

Christmas Content: Plan, Film, Edit, and Schedule

Get your Christmas-themed social media content ready to go now! This holiday content, showcasing festive offers, behind-the-scenes salon decor, and pre-Christmas treatments, should be planned, filmed, edited, and scheduled well in advance. Aim to create engaging, eye-catching visuals with hashtags like #ChristmasGlow or #HolidayPampering to draw clients in. By handling this content early, you’ll ensure a steady stream of posts that keeps your salon top of mind and frees you up to focus on client service as December approaches. This season is an ideal time to connect directly with your client list via email or text message campaigns. Consider designing a digital flyer or catalogue that highlights your seasonal offerings, product packs with clear sale prices, gift vouchers, treatment packages, and any discounts. By showing the original price alongside the discounted offer, you’re helping clients see the value and savings they’re getting.

To streamline the shopping process, take it a step further by designing a landing page that links directly to your online store, allowing clients to view your festive catalogue, select offers, and complete their purchase in just a few clicks.

Christmas

Countdown and the 12 Days of Christmas

Promotion

One of the most effective holiday marketing strategies is a “12 Days of Christmas” promotion, offering daily specials in a countdown to Christmas. This approach has been a game-changer for many businesses that we coach, driving significant sales and creating a festive buzz that keeps clients coming back. By saving your biggest discounts for this promotion, you avoid discounting throughout the year and instead concentrate your efforts on the season’s biggest sales opportunity.

This promotion isn’t just about deals, it’s a chance to create excitement and engage your staff. Make sure your team is well-prepared and motivated, speaking the same sales language to consistently reinforce the promotion. With everyone on board, you’ll maximise the impact and create a memorable, profitable experience for clients.

This structured approach to seasonal marketing can make a lasting impression on your clients, positioning your salon as the go-to destination for Christmas pampering and gift-giving.

Delivering Service Excellence

AMAZING Customer service is paramount, especially when clients are ready to invest in their Pre-Christmas self-care. Even as you and your team power through the busy season, remember to go the extra mile in positivity, kindness, and service. Small gestures create memorable experiences that keep clients coming back.

Create a festive event or VIP night, offering clients mini-treatments, product demos, or gift-wrapping services for gift card purchases. This exclusive touch not only drives sales but also strengthens client relationships. Offer seasonal refreshments such as spiced tea, hot chocolate, or festive themed water infusions. Christmas-themed treats, like water bottles with holiday stickers, bowls of Christmas chocolates, and scented candles can add to the festive experience, making each visit feel special.

Show appreciation with small thank you cards or gifts. A simple, thoughtful gesture, like a cookie or discount card for a January service, goes a long way in building loyalty. These tokens remind clients of your gratitude and invite them back in the new year.

Setting Clear Expectations and Building Motivation for team preparation

A successful holiday season hinges on a well prepared, motivated team. Set up clear communication with your team regarding work hours, break times, and any extra shifts needed for the December rush. Outline their sales targets and rewards, and strategize together on how to achieve them. When everyone knows what to expect, they’re more likely to stay focused and energised.

• Encourage staff to add a festive touch to their attire with accessories or themed t-shirts. This boosts team spirit and creates a fun, festive atmosphere that looks great in social media posts.

• Keep your team engaged with fun December games like holiday bingo or a balloon-popping incentive game, where small rewards or bonuses keep spirits high. Friendly competition and rewards for hitting sales targets add a playful element that helps the team maintain momentum.

• With increased holiday traffic, it’s essential to plan appointments and promotions in a way that keeps things manageable. Avoid burnout by scheduling adequate break times and ensuring everyone’s hours are clear. Extend salon hours only as needed around your busiest days to maximise bookings without overwhelming the team.

Preparing for Last-Minute Appointments

As demand rises, maintain a waitlist system to capture those last-minute clients eager for Christmas treatments. This ensures you can fill every available slot efficiently.

Declutter and deep clean the salon to keep the space tidy, organised, and ready for increased foot traffic. Place orders early for retail products, gift cards, and seasonal items, and stock up on essential supplies so you can focus on making sales without supply concerns.

Setting ambitious but achievable targets, ideally aiming for at least a 10% increase over last year, helps everyone stay goal oriented. Create a fun, visual target tracker in the staff room, such as a Target tracker thermometer, to keep progress engaging and top of mind for the whole team.

Go into 2025 already booked out

Turn these seasonal shoppers into repeat customers. Talk to them, engage and encourage these clients to book in the New Year. You may even like to reward your customers with a separate promotion for when they book their first 1 or 2 New Year appointments they get a free gift or incentive.

The holiday season is an exciting time, and I wish you and your teams the very best in capturing every sales opportunity. Embrace the festive spirit, keep stress at bay, and enjoy the journey. With careful planning, you’ll be ready to head into 2025 strong, with a solid foundation to keep your business thriving in the New Year.

Here’s to a successful, joyful season and a prosperous year ahead!

In the competitive beauty industry, achieving excellence requires innovation, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Danielle Renee, the visionary founder of Bobbie Charles, exemplifies these qualities. With an impressive five awards under their belt at this year’s 2024 ABIA’s, Bobbie Charles has cemented its reputation as a leader in client care, education, and team culture.

From cultivating a thriving team culture to setting exciting goals for 2025, Danielle’s passion for growth and education shines through.

Beauty Biz Editor Louise May chats with Danielle Renee, who shares insights into the philosophies behind Bobbie Charles’ success, her team’s approach to challenges, and what the future holds for this dynamic brand.

Winning five ABIA awards in one year is an extraordinary achievement! What does this recognition mean to you and your team?

Winning five ABIA awards is a testament to our team’s dedication and passion. This recognition validates our commitment to excellence and motivates us to continue raising the bar in the beauty industry. It’s a celebration of our collective efforts and reinforces our belief in the power of exceptional client care and innovative practices.

Bobbie Charles is renowned for its exceptional customer care. Can you share some of the unique strategies or philosophies behind this success?

The best advice I can give to others in the industry is to invest in the growth of your team, doing regular mentoring sessions, creating training pathways, feedback rounds and quality assurance measures. We can help implement that with you at Bobbie Charles Academy. Bobbie Charles’s client care philosophy centres on creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel valued and heard. We prioritise empathy, transparency, authenticity and personalised attention. Our team is trained to deliver consistent, exceptional consultations that focus on building lasting relationships, not just transactions.

Your team seems to embody a growth mindset. How do you foster this culture in the workplace? How do you navigate so many different personalities at the same time?

From a leadership perspective, it’s all about asking myself every single morning, ‘Who and what do I need to be today, and what does my team need from me in this moment?’. Everyone in the brand is treated uniquely. Fostering a growth mindset is integral to our clinic culture. We encourage continuous learning and open communication and embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Navigating diverse personalities involves recognising individual strengths, promoting collaboration, and creating an environment where everyone feels empowered to contribute their unique perspectives.

Training and education are priorities for you. Can you tell us about your approach to developing your team’s skills?

Our approach to team development is multifaceted. We invest in regular training sessions, encourage attendance at industry conferences, and provide opportunities for cross-functional learning. We also emphasize the importance of personal growth alongside professional development, supporting our team members in their journeys. The thing that gives us the biggest advantage is allowing each employee to choose their career growth path themselves, so their vision aligns with ours.

You’ve also launched the Bobbie Charles Training Academy. What inspired you to take this step, and what’s your vision for the academy?

The Bobbie Charles Training Academy was born from a desire to share our expertise and empower others in the industry. Our vision is to create a platform that not only enhances technical skills but also nurtures leadership qualities and business acumen, preparing the next generation of beauty professionals for success. We are moving more into the space of HR and Leadership as a company really does only operate as well as the happiness within the brand – So watch out for our leadership programs which are launching in 2025.

Your clinics are described as places where clients feel safe, authentic, and connected. How do you ensure this atmosphere is maintained as your business grows?

Maintaining our signature atmosphere of safety, authenticity, and connection as we grow involves consistent training, clear communication of our values, and regular feedback from both clients and team members. We strive to create a culture where these qualities are ingrained in every interaction. It all starts from the top, our Leadership team is an integral part of the success of the brand.

You’ve experienced significant growth in your business. How do you approach challenges, and what has been required from you personally to enable you to reach these amazing new heights in your business? what have these moments taught you?

Growth often comes with challenges, but we view them as opportunities for innovation and improvement. Personally, reaching these new heights has required resilience, strategic thinking, and a willingness to step out of my comfort zone. These moments have taught me the importance of adaptability, the power of a strong team, and the value of staying true to our core.

With such incredible momentum, what’s next for Bobbie Charles? Are there any exciting plans or goals for 2025?

Looking ahead to 2025, we’re excited about expanding our Training Academy offerings, particularly in the areas of business leadership and HR. We’re also exploring innovative treatments and technologies to enhance our client experience further. Our goal is to continue setting new standards in the beauty industry while empowering more professionals through our educational programs.

Overcoming Fear and Building Resilience in Business as a new Cosmetic Tattoo Artist

Starting a career as a new cosmetic tattoo artist can be an exciting and rewarding venture, however, the decision to go out on your own and start your own business comes with its fair share of challenges.

Fear and uncertainty are common emotions that may arise and in this article we will explore some effective strategies that can help you to overcome these, build resilience and thrive as a new cosmetic tattoo artist – I have even thrown in a few nuggets for those of you who have been in business a while and just need that nudge to reset and potentially recalibrate.

Understanding Fear: Fear is a natural response that arises when we perceive a threat or potential failure and as a new cosmetic tattoo artist, not only have you just learnt this brand-new skill, but you are also out there creating a new business and identity –there is a lot going on all at the same time. After the excitement wears off after opening your doors, this is when you may begin to fear not being good enough, making mistakes, having low client and or retention rates, feeling financial pressure or the feeling of having to do long hours and having very little return in the beginning. Recognising and acknowledging these fears (which are all SO VALID) is the first step towards overcoming them.

Research and Education:

Knowledge is power. As much as they say ignorance is bliss –the reality is you it will catch up sooner rather than later, so the key upfront is invest time in comprehensive research to ensure you have a strong foundation. This means your educational and practical skillsets for your tattoo techniques, colour theory, hygiene protocols, but also in business management. If you are going to do something don’t take short cuts, enrol in certified courses and attend workshops to enhance your skills and build confidence – and trust me when I say, it’s never one and done. Continuous learning is the only way to improve your technical abilities but also alleviate fears associated with inadequate knowledge, because the more you know, the more you can do!

Mentorship and Networking:

Seek out experienced cosmetic tattoo artists who are willing to mentor and guide you in your journey because the reality is, cosmetic tattooing as a career is pretty lonely and the information flow and sharing of knowledge especially in the early stages won’t be overly forth coming and if you’re just on Facebook forums or in groups asking uneducated questions or making rookie mistakes, you will find you will be redirected right back to your basic trainers and shut down – which is a real kicker especially if you are genuinely wanting to learn. So, from the outset, my advice is make the effort to connect with industry professionals on various levels, people who see you are

enthusiastic and willing will recognise this and will be happy to provide invaluable insights, advice, and support. Attend conferences, workshops and join professional associations to expand your network and learn from others’ experiences.

Embrace Feedback:

Constructive feedback is crucial for growth and improvement. Encourage your clients to share their thoughts and experiences and be open to suggestions. Analyse all feedback objectively as this will help identify areas for improvement and implement changes accordingly. Constructive criticism will help you gain confidence and refine your skills over time. Another really great opportunity for feedback is open case studies, deconstructing each case and breaking it down, helps anchor the key points for consider and as you work through more and more of these you will begin to identify patterns and will assist with the predictability of your future work and how you deal with the more complex cases. This will also change the way you deal with clients as you will become more confident in your own skills and abilities, and you will change what you are willing to take on and tackle – or turn away. Not everything is fixable or worth the sleepless nights, so be sure to choose carefully.

Building Resilience: Resilience is a key attribute for success in any business, including the cosmetic tattoo industry. It’s about bouncing back from setbacks, responding to pivotal change and adapting to challenges and staying motivated even when you’re exhausted and feel like you are constantly griding. Here are some actionable insights to build resilience:

Develop a Growth Mindset:

Embrace a growth mindset and practice this – focus on viewing challenges as opportunities for learning and growth. Instead of being discouraged by setbacks, approach them with a positive mindset and seek solutions. If something didn’t go right, what can you learn from it and how can you tweak or change it for next time? It’s easy to get deflated and overwhelmed especially when finances are felt, or you have a run of clients with less than satisfactory outcomes (trust me, I’ve had my fair share too and have asked myself many times is it time to give up the tools…) but cultivating resilience requires mental agility and the ability to reframe challenges as stepping stones to success – Rome was not built in a day, remember that.

Establish Clear Goals and Plans:

Set specific goals for your business and develop a detailed plan to achieve them. Break big goals into smaller, manageable tasks to avoid

feeling overwhelmed. Be kind to yourself – I know it’s so easy to feel like you need to know and do it all now, but celebrate small victories along the way to stay motivated and focused. Having a clear roadmap helps you stay resilient in the face of obstacles. Often, I think one of the hardest things to do is prioritise your priorities – but once you are crystal clear breaking them down gets easier.

Build a Support System:

Surround yourself with a supportive network of friends, family, and fellow industry professionals. Share your challenges and frustrations with individuals who understand your journey, but pick these individuals carefully – you need to find that balance of trust and professionalism. Having a support system provides emotional encouragement, advice and a sense of belonging during difficult times, I personally have different people for different situations and depending on what is happening, I go to the ones I will gain the most unbiased, informative, diverse or helpful information from – even if it’s just bouncing ideas off or talking about a business concern or tattooing outcome, once you have a trusted support system it can be the make or break of your business.

Practice Self-Care:

Running a business can be demanding in so many ways, not just the physical and emotional and neglecting self-care can lead to burnout and diminished resilience. You need to stay kind to yourself, prioritise self-care activities such as sleep, time management, eating properly, exercise, relaxation, spending time with loved ones and pursuing hobbies. Taking care of your physical and mental well-being is essential for maintaining resilience and creativity. I personally find that I work so much that it’s not until I really start feeling exhausted and overwhelmed by the small things, that I recognise my batteries are running too low.

Sometimes everything makes me cry, or the world seems really lonely, or I just feel like I can’t complete anything I need to get done, I’m not good enough, I’ve got imposter syndrome, the list goes on… all of these are signs I need to practice self-care, take a step back (likely have a good sleep) and stop pushing too hard – these are just examples, but they are real, they are raw, and they don’t discriminate, so it’s essential to stay aware and take care of yourself because you are no good to anyone if you are broken.

In closing:

While fear and challenges may arise when you’re new in the game (and existing) It’s also good to know, that while they may feel overwhelming and often quite challenging- in the moment, you are a new cosmetic tattoo artist and it’s important to know and understand you’re embarking on a practical skill, working on unpredictable canvases, and it’s a continual learning curb and time is the only way of learning to foresee curveballs, overcoming them and building resilience. However, it is possible with the right mindset, knowledge, and support and ensuring you do your research and invest energy upfront in the right education, mentorship, and networking opportunities, you can strengthen your circle, refine your skillsets and build confidence.

Additionally, by combining the above with a growth mindset you will find you can set clear goals, build a solid support system and practice self-care which will help you navigate the ups and downs, this also applies to business ownership as well as many facets of life. Another great tip is look outside your own industry and see what works for others – what are they doing that captures your essence and attention, is there anything you could tweak or create in your own space – it always pays think outside of the box.

Just remember, we all start from the beginning and resilience is not built overnight; it’s a continuous journey of learning, adapting, and evolving and you will watch your cosmetic tattoo business grow & thrive. Above all else, embrace the challenges, stay determined and if you fall over, it’s perfectly ok - just fall forward, you’ve got this!

The Vision, Leadership and Nationally Acclaimed Success of Luminary Melbourne

From humble beginnings as a solo operator in 2020 to becoming a nationally acclaimed clinic, Luminary Melbourne’s rise is nothing short of extraordinary. Under the vision and leadership of Nicolette Kocsi Goldberg, the clinic has achieved remarkable milestones, including winning Sole Operator of the Year in 2021 and 2022, VIC/TAS/SA Clinic of the Year in 2023 and 2024, and now being crowned Australian Spa/Salon/Clinic of The Year for 4 Treatment Rooms or Less.

This journey speaks to more than just accolades—it’s a testament to Nicolette and her team’s dedication to redefining the client experience. By combining luxury, clinical precision, and the power of human touch, Luminary Melbourne has become a sanctuary for those seeking both relaxation and transformative skin results.

Editor Louise May chats with Nicolette about her journey, the values driving Luminary Melbourne, and her vision for redefining skin care.

Can you tell us about your journey, and how the consistent growth and success has influenced your vision for Luminary Melbourne?

When you write out all our achievements over the past 4 years it does feel like an unbelievable dream. When I opened as a sole operator I opened a clinic with 2 treatment room capacity, we invested in equipment, facilities, and education from the start. While I started as a sole operator in the middle of Covid my vision was always to have 3 treatment rooms, a growing team, delivering luxury services combining both the clinical and spa aspects of skin, delivering high end clinical results. I really felt like (especially in Melbourne) we lost touch in the treatment room, and I wanted to change this by instead of treating clients like a number treating them like people. I really wanted to change the culture in skin clinics and slow things down not only as a therapist but also for clients, we actively work only in skin, listening to their concerns and creating treatment plans is the core foundation of our success, our entire vision is to create long term success with our clients through skin. Our growth is because of our clients, by creating that connection while delivering results.

How do you instil Luminary’s values and vision in your team?

Finding our team has been no easy task, as our values and vision is on such a high level it’s a lot for any therapist to take on. We put a huge focus on training, which we do weekly, and our teams personal growth and development is our highest priority. We are constantly growing and evolving our processes, following direct client feedback and therapist feedback to ensure seamless operations, our team are amazing and passionate which is an intoxicating culture to be around. We all want the best for our clients as well as each other, we have truly become a family who cares completely about each other. Our team is something we are incredibly proud of, as we operate all on the same frequency, we all have complete trust in each other’s ability to deliver client care every single time.

How do you ensure every team member delivers consistent results and client satisfaction?

The dynamic is different in our business because I am both hands on and a leader in the team As a leader I truly feel like I have a great personal and professional relationship with my team, our communication individually and as a team has really grown through mentoring, our proudest achievement is our Junior Program; Sara and Shay came into our business with no experience and are now treating at a senior therapist level over the past 12 months. Watching the confidence grow also with our Senior leaders in the team, I’m so proud that everyone is constantly learning and growing not only from myself as their mentor but from each other, consistent results and client satisfaction has become second nature to us all.

Luminary Melbourne combines holistic methods with advanced clinical treatments. What inspired you to create this unique blend, and how has it been received by clients?

I really disliked the rushed aspect of clinical treatments and the lack of touch from previous workplaces. I felt like I never had enough time with clients to deliver the education and care that they deserved. I felt there was always a huge gap in the knowledge from what we are taught at university and product houses. I travelled to New York to complete a 5-day intensive course on the Dr. Vodder method of lymphatic drainage. This course changed my whole view on knowledge and the power of our hands. Which opened up a whole change in myself and the business.

I quickly learnt the Gua Sha Fusion Facial, Buccal facial sculpting treatments and Qi 24K Micro Magnet Facials. These treatments have changed our business. We not only understand the lymphatic system and the effects it has on the entire body but how to improve our clients skin. We are able to give clients more options especially to those that are not ready or not interested in injectable treatments. It’s also given us so many more treatment options allowing us to treat inflammation in the skin, which we know is the root cause of so many skin conditions. These treatments deliver high impact results while delivering amazing calming, relaxation benefits. It truly is a joy to deliver the best of both worlds allowing our clients complete Zen when they leave our clinic.

Your emphasis on the power of ‘touch’ in treatments sets you apart. Why is this so important to you, and how does it elevate the client experience?

It’s not just about touch in our clinic it’s about complete customisation of every treatment. We customise every cleanse, exfoliation, infusion, led light and mask. While we have our protocols in place we also have that deep understanding that skin is a journey, and It does go through changes along the way. We offer clients options and solutions to treat the root cause, delivering that long term result.

Introducing Circadia Skin has driven both treatment and retail growth for your clinic. What made you choose to partner with Circadia, and how does it fit your philosophy?

I wanted something different for our clients. I wanted a brand you couldn’t purchase online, and I wanted something not everyone had. I love that we prescribe it directly to clients. Circadia is based on the circadian rhythm of the body, adding nutrients and protection from the sun during the day and allowing the skin to repair and regenerate in the evening. Its strong focus on delivering long term results – skin is a lifelong journey with lots of changes along the way. Circadia allows that customisation for clients.

How has Circadia’s support, including training and product innovation, impacted your team and client outcomes?

We love how Circadia Aus & USA operate. They have been so welcoming and truly want the best for us. They offer a family approach which has allowed our team to feel very special and included. Spending a weekend in Sydney with Michael Pugliese and the USA team allowed our team to create personalised connections which are now international. Learning directly from the creators of the products allows such deep knowledge to be shared, which is taken back into our clinic and shared to our clients. Reformulation and new products is something very important to us, allowing us to constantly deliver the best to our clients, we don’t feel Circadia could ever be stagnant as education and product innovation truly is the core of their business. We really appreciate what Circadia CEO Aus Rachael Stevens is trying to achieve in the industry, allowing these points of difference to speak for themselves. We are very grateful for this very successful partnership. Winning Circadia New Clinic Of The Year 2024 is something the team and I are so proud of.

What are your top 3 favourite Circadia Products, and why?

Circadia Oxygen RX - works by introducing a controlled amount of oxygen directly into the skin at an optimal level to provide maximum health benefits which help replace the ruddy-look associated with acne and rosacea to instantly brighten the skin. No bacteria can live in this extreme oxygenated environment. The germicidal action of the oxygen makes it highly beneficial for acne. The end result is clear and luminous skin with a feeling of firmness. The lightning and vasoconstricting capabilities of our Circadia oxygen Rx treatment gives instant results for rosacea and acne clients. This treatment has been revolutionary in providing us the ability to give results to clients with rosacea and acne clients.

Post Peel Balm – a product we can’t keep in stock! Contains a skin identical lipid complex that increases water-holding capacity and provides a semi-occlusive and protective barrier. It’s an amazing solution post treatment which minimizes down time but also as an everyday moisturiser. Think luxury hydration mask as a moisturiser every day.

Serum 71 - Serum 71 is an immune-boosting, nutrient-rich formulation with a powerful trio of tranexamic, mandelic, and azelaic acids. Also included is a second-generation Beta Glucan and Neodermyl, the next-generation copper peptide that helps build back collagen and elastin. It’s amazing for everyone. Immune boosting, brightening.

What do you think sets Luminary apart from other clinics?

Our constant drive to be different, allowing us to customise and get clients results. Building personal connections with clients, allowing them a safe place to relax. Working with just skin doing facials is such a privilege. Prioritising our clients’ needs will always set us apart. It’s all In the little details. We will always provide a luxury service at a fair price getting our clients results.

What’s next for Luminary Melbourne?

Our goal is to keep growing and developing our team. Adding a fourth treatment room and of course we have a few surprises up our sleeve with some new treatments on the way.

My ADHD Journey as an Award-Winning Clinic Owner

When I was diagnosed with ADHD, it was like someone had finally handed me the user manual to my manic brain! So many of the quirks and things that made me unique that I’d struggled with suddenly made sense. And I have to say, it was HUGE relief.

But what surprised me most was realising that my neurodivergence isn’t a weakness; in fact, it is my superpower and the reason I have been able to drive Peachy Skin Clinic to bigger heights than I ever imagined. This year alone I was so proud to win ABIA WA/NT Clinic of the Year 2024 and ABIA Dermal Therapist of the Year 2024 as well as exceed even my most ambitious 7 figure Total Sales goal.

When I won these awards, I had no words. I felt as though I looked ridiculous in front of all my peers because I was absolutely floored. This is such a common experience for those of us with ADHD and other mental health challenges like Imposter Syndrome. Overwhelming situations will make us completely over the top and we can appear more the class clown than the industry leaders that we truly are!

It was just another reminder for me to embrace my differences and unique strengths so that I can thrive, both personally and professionally. For those of you navigating your ADHD journey, I wanted to show you how these traits can be such powerful tools for your success, and also provide tips on managing a team that includes neuro-spicy individuals like me!

1. Endless Energy and Passion

One thing about ADHD is that when I’m excited about something, my energy is boundless. This works wonders in the clinic where every day is filled with new clients and when we are looking at trialling new equipment and techniques. I never run out of steam when it comes to learning, connecting with clients, or setting new goals and it gives me the enthusiasm to keep going when everyone else might feel drained.

When working with your ADHD employees, harness this energy by allowing them as much flexibility in their schedules and roles as possible. Provide them with lots of variety in their tasks to keep things fresh and engaging. If you help them stay focused and energised, you will get the best out of them.

2. Creativity and Outside-the-Box Thinking

Peachy is a creative hub, and ADHD is a huge creativity booster. My brain constantly jumps from one idea to another, giving me fresh inspiration for product offerings, salon decor, customer service and marketing. I’m always thinking about new ways to make the salon experience better for clients, and I don’t shy away from experimenting with very bold ideas- see @ theswearytherapist for a perfect example!

Encourage creativity in your ADHD team members by letting them contribute to design or branding concepts for your clinic. They will have unique ideas. Giving them ownership of smaller creative projects can make them feel more connected to your success in an authentic way.

3. Hyperfocus in the Flow

Look, I know I get easily distracted, but I can also “hyperfocus” like nobody’s business. When I’m deeply interested in a task, I can zero in and work on it for hours, completely losing track of time. This has been a game-changer for me in troubleshooting salon challenges and managing business logistics. When hyperfocus kicks in, I feel unstoppable, and I swear I could run the country quite easily.

For employees, try to help them identify the tasks they’re most passionate about and work them into their KPIs, as they’re likely to hyperfocus on these and you will get SO much more out of them. Providing quiet or focused work times where possible can also allow them to dive deep without interruptions.

4. Risk-Taking and Adaptability

Clinic ownership, like ADHD, means constantly adapting to new situations and risks. I’m never afraid to try something new or tackle a big or scary issue head-on, which has allowed me to grow my business beyond what I ever thought possible. My business coach has described us as a ‘unicorn’ because of the unbelievable numbers that we are achieving. My ADHD helps me pivot quickly when things don’t go as planned, whether it’s dealing with ex-employee issues, securing new staff or changing marketing strategies.

Employees with ADHD often love fast-paced or high-energy environments so encourage this for them. Allow them to take on roles that involve quick thinking or troubleshooting, as we tend to excel in high-stakes situations that make others crumble!

5. Empathy and Connection with Clients

So many of us are highly empathetic, picking up on clients’ emotions and making them feel more understood and valued than anyone else. At Peachy our key focus for 2024 was our energy and frequency as there is nothing more important than how you make people truly feel. Operating at an optimum frequency translates into some incredibly deep connections with my clients, who often feel more like friends or family than clients. This is so important to me as I created Peachy to feel like a warm hug and we are always focused on treating our clients like we would our beautiful grandmas. This intense connection though can also be quite draining so I make sure to have me time and focus on energy cleansing to ensure it doesn’t get too overwhelming.

Kristin Rose

Your ADHD employees will probably also have this natural talent for client interactions too, so encourage them to use their interpersonal skills in your client-facing roles where they can build trust and clients will love them. But be sure to always protect their energy and monitor their emotional output as well.

Tips for Managing ADHD:

I’ve learned some great strategies for creating a supportive environment for both myself and my employees. Here are a few approaches that I love:

• Provide clear goals and structure: Set expectations and deadlines, as our minds work better with clear, achievable goals. As part of this, delegate, delegate and delegate! Get the experts to help you if it doesn’t light you up, or it will never get done.

• Encourage open communication: Check in regularly and keep communication channels open for feedback. My team all know about my ADHD, and I am so open with them about how it affects me and how they can help me deal with the trickier aspects.

• Keep things fun: Monotony can be draining for anyone, but especially the neurodiverse, so be sure to give the team a mix of tasks to maintain engagement. At Peachy, we do lots of team bonding, get access to all the best and most exciting training and add in mental health focuses including breathwork and energy cleansing regularly.

• Find true motivation: Your staff might tell you that their motivation is doing a great job for their clients but let’s be honest, often that isn’t the number one driver and that’s OK. Find their true motivation whether it is more money, a designer handbag, a day off, regular yoga classes and leverage it to get the results you need.

• Recognise the need for downtime: When I’m in the flow I am unstoppable but when I crash, I crash hard. We need time to recharge and recalibrate and the more support you can give your team to do this, the more you can reap the benefits.

ADHD comes with challenges, but it’s also one of the greatest assets a business owner can have, and it is absolutely my superpower. It fuels my passion, creativity, and resilience—qualities that make running Peachy so fulfilling. Embracing it, rather than fighting it, has helped me become not only a successful business owner but also a mentor to others who are also dealing with it. So, if you have ADHD or work with someone who does, remember it might just be the secret ingredient for your success.

ELEMIS TRIUMPHS WITH THREE WINS AT THE 2024 SPA & WELLNESS AWARDS

In a remarkable display of achievement, ELEMIS has emerged as a triple award-winner at the prestigious 2024 Spa & Wellness Awards, securing accolades for Best Skincare Distributor (Katie Lowndes Wellness), Most Sustainable Skincare Brand, and the People’s Choice Award for Best Skincare for Men. The wins mark a significant turning point for the brand in Australia, brought to life by the dedication of Katie Lowndes, who has reignited the brand’s presence in under a year.

The awards were celebrated during The Wellness Summit, a two-day industry event at the beautiful Crystalbrook Resort in Byron Bay. ELEMIS was a highlight of the summit, captivating attendees with its treetop experiential activation that offered signature treatments amidst nature’s tranquillity.

“We have had an absolute blast at The Spa & Wellness Summit in Byron Bay,” said Katie Lowndes, ELEMIS Spa Distributor ANZ. “Our ELEMIS Experience in the treetops has been such a special immersion for all - skins left glowing and shoulders sitting lower than before through the power of good skincare and self-care.”

Winning the Most Sustainable Skincare Brand award reflects ELEMIS’ steadfast commitment to sustainability and innovation. The brand recently achieved B Corp status, an accolade awarded to businesses meeting the highest social and environmental performance standards. ELEMIS has made significant strides in reducing its ecological footprint, including removing 4.6 million internal leaflets and spatulas and saving 1.7 tonnes of plastic from landfill. Introducing 100% recyclable cartons and sourcing sustainable ingredients are core to the brand’s ongoing efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and harvest without harm.

“ELEMIS are skin wellness experts committed to healthy skin and body while reducing our impact on the planet,” explains Lowndes. “We are focused on protecting and restoring biodiversity, making a more positive impact on climate, and empowering our people and communities for a better future.”

Katie’s relationship with ELEMIS runs deep, beginning two decades ago when she first encountered the brand aboard Royal Caribbean cruise lines. That initial spark grew into a lifelong passion as she went on to train therapists worldwide, manage flagship spas in London, and eventually bring her wealth of knowledge and love for the brand to Australia. Now, as the distributor, she has made it her mission to ensure that Australian spas experience the same level of care, support, and innovation she has always associated with ELEMIS.

“Bringing ELEMIS back to Australia has been a dream come true,” Katie expressed. “It’s been a challenging road, but seeing the brand recognised this way is incredibly fulfilling. I’m honoured to be a part of this story and to share ELEMIS’ magic with others.”

REFECTOCIL GLOBAL CONFERENCE , VIENNA 2024

In September RefectoCil HQ invited all RefectoCil Global partners to attend the annual RefectoCil Convention in Vienna, Austria.

This year RefectoCil Australia’s National Educator, Hayley, jumped on an early morning flight from Sydney to Vienna to represent Australia and New Zealand for three wonderful, jam-packed days of education and training. She also had the opportunity to be part of a guided tour of the company’s state of the art manufacturing facility, complete with robotic processes as well as highly specialised personnel overseeing the quality and safety of this highly sophisticated manufacturing facility.

Day 1 consisted of a walkthrough of one of RefectoCil’s 2 training academies in downtown Vienna with national educators from over 60 countries to meet with RefectoCil’s Global trainers. Together, experiences were shared, and industry trends were discussed - from popular styling techniques during brow lamination treatments to each nation’s favourite products. Gaining insights from international industry leaders has been so valuable and a truly wonderful experience.

Day 2 included a full day of further learning as well as an official peek at the new and exciting products planned for 2025.

Held at the prestigious Heidi Horton Collection Art Gallery, partners and trainers were greeted by GW Cosmetics CEO, Mr Rainer Deisenhammer and his inspiring team. They then learned of universal concepts relating to industry exhibitions, training facilities and workshops as well as best practice for product launches and social media.

To say the best was saved for last would be an understatement. Day 3 was held at the state of the art RefectoCil Head Office in Leopoldsdorf, about a 30 min taxi ride from Vienna. The first half of the day was spent at the RefectoCil Training Academy where they were fortunate to work and train with the exciting new and re-vamped products that are set to launch in 2025! From there and after a quick lunch break, they set off to tour the RefectoCil Lab where all their favourite products are created, tested and trialled by a group of leading scientists. Each and every tint batch is meticulously tested here before being released to ensure the highest quality control standards are upheld. Then it was on to a production tour of the Company’s manufacturing facility. Seeing the technology (and robots!) driving the RefectoCil products being produced, packed and shipped across the world was truly a highlight of the trip. Hayley returned to RefectoCil Australia’s to share everything learnt with her team, inspired and ready share knowledge and inspiration to our local market. www.refectocil.com.au

The Scientifically-Backed Collagen Supplement Solution Formulated for Dermal Treatment Recovery and Skin Rejuvenation

ProDermaCol® is redefining post-treatment recovery with its clean, natural collagen- supplement, boosted with scientifically backed, skin enriching vitamin & mineral supportive ingredients. With no artificial additives, this ingestible collagen solution offers a groundbreaking approach to skin rejuvenation, both in-clinic and at home.

Scientifically Formulated

ProDermaCol ® is a powerful combination of Hydrolysed Collagen Peptides, Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Biotin, Hyaluronic Acid, Coenzyme Q10, and Zinc. These scientifically backed ingredients work synergistically to enhance recovery from dermal treatments such as laser therapy, microneedling, cosmetic surgery and skin resurfacing. The formula also deeply nourishes and hydrates the skin, promoting visible skin rejuvenation.

Formulated with the highest grade of collagen available from Germany, ProDermaCol ®’s proprietary, OptiCol35 ® is a Bovine Collagen that has been hydrolysed and provides optimum dermal support for posttreatment skin.

Bovine Collagen primarily contains Type I and Type III collagen. Together these collagen types enhance skin and tissue health, making bovine collagen supplements highly beneficial for overall well-being.

Hydrolysed Collagen Peptides offer vastly improved absorption and bioavailability due to its smaller peptide size compared to standard collagen. This makes it easier for the body to digest and absorb, maximising skin benefits.

Convenient to Consume

Available in two flavours, Neutral and Natural Lemon, ProDermaCol® can be added to drinks and given to clients as a pre-treatment shot. Predominantly tasteless when diluted, it blends seamlessly into smoothies, coffee, tea, or can be consumed as a stand-alone drink. This makes it ideal for clients seeking convenience without compromising on effectiveness.

100% Quality Control

Manufactured in Australia under the Australian New Zealand Food Standards Code (FSANZ), ProDermaCol ®’s in-house manufacturing operation ensures they oversee every step of the process providing 100% quality control.

Supplement and Skincare Synergy

ProDermaCol® works synergistically with any skincare system offering a holistic approach. Optimising the benefits of topical skincare and ingestible collagen ensures a comprehensive skin solution with accelerated dermal recovery and overall skin rejuvenation.

Exclusive to Aesthetic Professionals

ProDermaCol® is committed to supporting aesthetic professionals by ensuring the product is available exclusively via Dermal Therapists, Medi Spas, Aesthetic Medical Practitioners, Plastic Surgeons, Beauty Clinics and Skin & Laser Clinics. It is not available in supermarkets, health stores, pharmacies or bulk online discount websites, thus maintaining a premium position in the market.

Clinic partners stock ProDermaCol® for in-clinic sales, pre-treatment collagen shots and their online stores.

ProDermaCol® also offers an affiliate program for clinic partners, enabling them to sell the product online with ease. Clinics earn a commission while ProDermaCol® handles the dispatch of online orders, providing an additional revenue stream with minimal effort.

Endorsed by Aesthetic Professionals

Tonya Vinci, founder of The Skinn Clinic, explains why she is a ProDermaCol® stockist:

“ProDermaCol is specifically formulated for our aesthetic dermal industry making it ideal for my clinic and clients. It is a premium collagen supplemented with the ingredients, we in the industry know are essential for optimum dermal recovery without the artificial flavours and unwanted nasty additives so many collagens have. Having a clean, boosted collagen supplement that I can recommend to my clients, so they benefit from both the topical and ingestible dermal systems is perfect for my business.

ProDermaCol® stands out as the only logical choice for our dermal treatment industry. Manufactured with the HACCP certification under the Australian New Zealand Food Standards Code means that the ingredients and all their respective quantities are safe and regulated.

I also love that ProDermaCol® is not available in chemists, supermarkets or beauty websites that undercut our clinic margins. I don’t want to waste my time building my market, to then have my clients buy it elsewhere.

I’m quite tech savvy so we’ll be using the ProDermaCol ® affiliate program in addition to in-clinic sales so we can sell online ourselves while ProDermaCol® handle the orders and delivery for me. They pay me a commission on the sales I make from my social posts and website. This provides another revenue stream in addition to selling in-clinic after the treatment.”

The ProDermaCol® Advantage

ProDermaCol ® represents the next generation of dermal recovery solutions. With its advanced formulation, scientifically proven ingredients, exclusive distribution model and commitment to quality, ProDermaCol® is the ultimate addition to any aesthetic clinic.

Meet

the 2024 Shikya Clark

With a passion for enhancing both skin health and self-assurance, Shikya Clark has swiftly emerged as a luminary in the Australian beauty industry. Inspired by her mother, a beauty therapist, and her own experiences with skin challenges during high school, Shikya pursued a Diploma of Beauty Therapy at TAFE in Brisbane.

After graduation, she joined Bobbie Charles salon, where her dedication and talent led to rapid promotions, including roles as assistant manager and manager. Collaborating closely with industry leader Danielle Renee, Shikya gained invaluable insights into business ownership and entrepreneurship. Recognising the importance of personal well-being, she made a deliberate choice to focus on selfcare and explore new opportunities within the beauty sector.

Now, as a distinguished member of the ABIA 2024 Beauty Squad, Shikya is eager to connect with fellow professionals and elevate her expertise. Her commitment to continuous learning and her genuine desire to uplift others underscore her philosophy that self-care is a powerful avenue to boost confidence. In this feature, Shikya shares her inspiring journey, aspirations, and the experiences that have shaped her into the compassionate beauty therapist she is today.

In this chat with Beauty Biz Editor Louise May, Shikya shares her journey, aspirations, and the lessons that have shaped her into the inspiring beauty professional she is today.

What made you want to be a Beauty Therapist?

My Mother has been a beauty therapist for over 30 years. Growing up I would watch her make people feel beautiful by doing their brows, lashes and so on, which definitely inspired me to want to do the same. I used to tweeze my sister and cousins brows at sleepovers to be just like Mum. I grew a huge interest in skin when I started struggling with my own skin during high school. After learning more I became hooked! I would help my friends by giving them tips and recommendations for their skin, and always the go to friend for doing their makeup before parties. Making people feel confident is what made me want to be a beauty therapist!

I have always been obsessed with eyebrows, mostly because I was blessed with non-existent ones- thanks Mum! Filling them in everyday with makeup and forcing mum to regularly tint them made me feel so much more confident, so being able to do that for others was awesome.

Shikya Clark

What kind of treatment is your favourite and why?

I love everything for different reasons, for myself I can’t look past a good facial focusing on resurfacing for my breakout prone skin, my new go to being the iS Clinical Prodigy Peels. But I also can’t look past skin needling!

But to perform I really enjoy brows and lashes, as well as result driven facials. I love the art of creating beautiful brows and lashes, and totally transforming someone’s face! While performing facials allows me to be in my body, and slow down.

How do you manage life and work balance?

This is something I have been working on this year, as I found my stress levels were starting to impact my personal life.

The way I manage it is trying to create a barrier between the two. When I’m at work, I try and only focus on work, and when I’m outside of work I try and limit work responsibilities. Giving myself discipline here is what helps me live fully in both these areas of my life. On the weekends I always spend time in nature, time with family and friends, but also time alone as we meet so many new people each day at work. Doing this makes me to show up 100% at work, allowing me to switch off outside of work.

Who inspires you in the beauty industry and why?

Honestly every person I talk to in the beauty industry inspires me, each and every person has their reasons for starting and have their own unique ‘sparkle’. Although If I had to choose one it would be Danielle Renee. Knowing her story of where she was to where she is now is nothing but inspiring! She’s managed to build an empire while staying true to herself. And isn’t scared of sharing her knowledge and successes.

If you could spend a day with anyone from a business or lifestyle mentorship perspective, who would it be and why?

I’d love to spend a day with Maria from Inskin to ask her all about how she’s created her businesses and gain tips on creating cosmeceuticals.

How important is training and education for you?

Absolutely huge! Things in our industry are ever evolving so staying up with new innovations and education is imperative. I always try to have a learning cap on wherever I go, and any spare time I have, I love re reading product and skin knowledge to refresh myself!

Giving our clients our all, by giving them the best knowledge we can, will assist in achieving their dream result, so education is key in our role.

Can you tell us a little about what you are most looking forward to being a member of the Beauty Squad team?

I’m looking forward to making lasting connections with likeminded individuals in our industry. Our industry is so big and luckily so supportive, so I’m excited to make new friends to be their cheerleader. I love me some personal growth, so I am so excited to learn and upskill from all the pro’s and soak up all the knowledge I can to help carve my future, as well as pass on to anyone else who will benefit!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?

If I were to dream big, I would own my own skincare label, and live in the countryside, getting ready for my next overseas adventure. Hopefully living fully and abundantly!

Introducing EXO-GROW™ by Dp Dermaceuticals™ The Ultimate Solution for Scalp and Hair Health.

The professional hair and beauty industry is welcoming an exciting new player that goes beyond the traditional approach to hair care. Dp Dermaceuticals has introduced the EXO-GROW™ Collection, a range specifically designed to target hair thinning, loss, and scalp health at its roots.

For Clinic and Salon professionals, this collection provides a sophisticated yet easy-to-apply solution that supports hair and scalp health, transforming the way clients experience hair care and empowering salons to deliver noticeable results.

START WITH THE SCALP

The foundation of healthy, vibrant hair lies in the scalp, a key insight that the EXO-GROW™ Collection takes to heart. Many products focus on the hair strands, aiming to smooth, style, and hydrate. While these can make hair look good temporarily, they often don’t address the core issues that lead to thinning and loss. EXO-GROW™ works from the inside out, creating an environment where hair can thrive.

Each formula in this cruelty-free, dermatologically approved line contains Dp Dermaceuticals’ proprietary EXO-GROW COMPLEXA™, a blend of proteins, peptides, and ceramides. The result? A deeply nourishing and rejuvenating effect on the scalp that extends to the strands, supporting hair that’s thicker, stronger, and healthier over time.

WHO IS THE IDEAL CLIENT FOR EXO-GROW™?

The EXO-GROW™ Collection is designed for clients who are experiencing hair thinning, hair loss, or who struggle with scalp issues like dryness, irritation, or oil buildup. These clients may be noticing early signs of thinning or perhaps have long-standing concerns about weak or fragile hair. The collection is also an excellent choice for those looking to support overall hair health with products that work at the scalp level to encourage fuller, denser hair growth

• Concerned with Hair Thinning or Loss: Clients noticing reduced hair density, patchiness, or more frequent hair shedding will benefit from the strengthening and rejuvenating properties of EXO-GROW™.

• Experiencing Scalp Sensitivity or Irritation: Those with sensitive scalps that react to traditional products can find relief in EXO-GROW™ calming, anti-inflammatory ingredients, which are designed to soothe and balance the scalp.

• Seeking Natural, Long-Term Solutions: EXO-GROW™

appeals to clients who want a sustainable approach to hair care, free from harsh chemicals, parabens, and sulfates, and are invested in using products that align with their health and wellness goals.

• Looking to Revive Aging Hair: Clients who are concerned about aging-related hair issues, such as greying or loss of volume, will appreciate the anti-aging benefits of the Colour Recharge Shampoo Bar and the scalp-nourishing properties throughout the EXO-GROW™ range.

THE HEART OF EXO-GROW™

So, what’s the secret to EXO-GROW™ effectiveness? At its core is exosome technology, a next-level approach to nourishing the scalp and hair follicles. Exosomes, in simple terms, are like tiny couriers packed with proteins and nutrients that deliver vital ingredients directly to hair follicles. Through EXOGROW™ unique process, these Exosomes penetrate the scalp deeply, ensuring the nutrients reach where they’re needed most. This makes the formulas incredibly effective in supporting the growth of denser, healthier hair that keeps getting better with use.

WHAT MAKES EXO-GROW™ UNIQUE

The EXO-GROW™ Collection doesn’t stop with just one or two active ingredients. It brings together a powerful combination of natural extracts, amino acids, and peptides, all designed to work together for real, visible results:

1. PDRN Polynucleotides: Extracted from salmon, this ingredient enhances circulation to the scalp, improving overall blood flow to the hair follicles and encouraging growth. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, which soothe the scalp and reduce irritation—a big plus for anyone with a sensitive or problematic scalp.

2. Sophora Japonica (Japanese Pagoda Tree): This extract is a true powerhouse against hair thinning. Known for its ability to inhibit certain hormones that contribute to hair loss, Sophora Japonica keeps hair in its growth phase longer, promoting a thicker, fuller appearance.

3. Centella Asiatica (CICA) Extract: Widely loved in skincare, CICA is equally effective on the scalp. It calms, hydrates, and supports skin health, making it ideal for creating a balanced environment where hair can flourish.

4. Polygonum Multiflorum Root Water: Rather than using plain water as a filler, EXO-GROW™ incorporates this root extract, known for its hair-boosting properties. It supports the hair’s growth cycle and helps improve thickness over time, making hair appear denser and fuller with each use.

A FULL ROUTINE FOR COMPREHENSIVE CARE

“We are so excited to share our love for Dermapenworld with the professional Beauty & Hair community. They have been a long-time supporter of mocha group and revolutionised the beauty industry a decade ago by inventing the first ever automated microneedling Dermapen— the original and trusted Dermapen™. Since then, they have continued to set and reset the bar, delivering a gold standard in skin rejuvenation. Now, after many years of research and development they bring to you EXO-GROW™, targeting hair thinning, loss, and scalp health, that is literally quite remarkable in its results. A game changer in this field and well worth looking into to compliment your existing beauty services”

Dp Dermaceuticals™ has thoughtfully designed the EXO-GROW™ Collection to cater to every aspect of hair and scalp care. Each product plays a unique role in the regimen, providing both immediate benefits and cumulative results that build over time.

• MG-EXO-GROW™: Ideal for in-clinic/salon treatments, this is the ultimate professional-grade product to rejuvenate hair follicles and enhance the hair’s natural cycle. This formula includes the proprietary HLA-G Complex™ to help reduce hair fall, stimulate follicles, and improve scalp condition. It’s packed with amino acids, peptides, and other nutrients that hydrate and strengthen, supporting fuller-looking hair with regular use.

• EXO-GROW™ Hair Tonic: Lightweight yet potent, this tonic is designed for daily use, helping to boost hair health in between salon visits. The Hair Tonic invigorates the scalp, promoting balance and encouraging a healthy hair cycle. Clients can apply it at home to continue reinforcing the results they see in the salon.

• EXO-GROW™ Scalp Mask: Often overlooked, the scalp is a critical area in any hair care routine. This detoxifying mask cleanses, removing buildup from oils, products, and environmental debris. With nourishing amino acids and ceramides, the Scalp Mask refreshes and resets the scalp, creating a healthy base for hair growth and supporting a comfortable, irritation-free feel.

• EXO-GROW™ Shampoo and Conditioner: This dynamic duo is designed to keep scalp and hair in peak condition. The shampoo, made with Hasuo (Polygonum Root Extract), gently cleanses while infusing the scalp with hydration and nutrients. The conditioner is equally powerful, with ingredients that add shine, improve elasticity, and smooth the hair cuticle, giving clients hair that looks as healthy as it feels.

AN IDEAL FIT FOR TODAY’S CLINICS AND SALONS

The EXO-GROW™ Collection not only provides visible results but also integrates well with advanced clinic / salon treatments like microneedling, enhancing its impact. This gives Clinic & Salon professionals the chance to offer clients a holistic approach to hair care that addresses issues from the root up. The range is also crueltyfree, free from harsh chemicals, and ethically produced, making it a premium choice that appeals to today’s mindful clients.

ANTI-AGING BENEFITS FOR HAIR

The EXO-GROW™ Collection even includes a Colour Recharge Shampoo Bar, a unique addition that uses natural plant pigments to revive greying hair without chemicals. This anti-aging effect allows clients to embrace a youthful look as they age naturally. The bar also doubles as a beard and shaving foam, providing a versatile tool for both hair and personal grooming.

GET READY TO TRANSFORM HAIR HEALTH WITH EXOGROW™

The EXO-GROW™ Collection by Dp Dermaceuticals™ is more than just a product line; it’s a complete approach to overcoming the challenges of hair thinning and loss. Designed to work in synergy, these products help to rejuvenate the scalp, support healthy follicles, and promote stronger, fuller hair. Discover the Latest Advancement in Exosomes Skincare – No Plateau

In the ever-evolving world of skincare, staying ahead means embracing the latest advancements that promise unparalleled results. One such breakthrough is the use of Exosomes in skincare procedures.

While more and more clinics are adopting this technology, it’s important to note that not all Exosomes are created equal. Understanding the nuances of this technology is crucial for clinics dedicated to providing the long-lasting, sciencebacked rejuvenation for their patients.

Why Exosomes Are a Must-Have Ingredient

Exosomes are tiny, double-lipid-coated structures packed with proteins, nucleic acids, peptides, growth factors, and enzymes. They act as messengers from stem cells to other cells, playing a vital role in intercellular communication, tissue healing, regeneration and repair.

Let’s unpack some of the game-changing benefits on offer.

Superior Results

Exosomes enhance the skin’s natural repair and renewal processes, leading to significant improvements in the visible signs of ageing, pigmentation, rosacea, and even alopecia.

Easily Absorbed

Their small size allows Exosomes to penetrate the skin barrier effortlessly, ensuring they reach the deeper layers where they can be most effective.

Microneedling Synergy

When used in conjunction with microneedling, Exosomes accelerate the skin’s regenerative processes, enhancing the overall results of the procedure.

Targeted Benefits

Exosomes can be engineered to target specific cell types, ensuring they deliver their regenerative benefits precisely where needed.

NEW! Patented Immune-tolerant “HLA-G COMPLEXA™” Exosomes

Dp Dermaceuticals has set the gold standard in Exosome technology with their EXO-SKIN™ Collection. Dp Dermaceuticals uses a patented proprietary filtration process to ensure only the most beneficial Exosomes are included in their formulations. Each Exosome contains over 3,300 signalling proteins, maximising their regenerative potential, but that’s not the only benefit.

Immune Tolerance

One challenge with Exosome therapy is the potential for the body to build immunity, which can plateau results. The patented HLA-G ComplexA in Dp Dermaceuticals’ IT-HLA-GEXO™ Exosomes prevents immune reactions, offering continuous, long-term results.

Biocompatibility

Many Exosomes are derived from animals or plants, which can lead to compatibility issues and adverse reactions. Dp Dermaceuticals’ ITHLA-G-EXO Exosomes are designed to mimic human Exosomes, reducing the risk of adverse reactions and enhancing compatibility with human skin cells.

Scalability & Consistency

The production of IT-HLA-G-EXO Exosomes can be easily scaled, ensuring a consistent and reliable supply for cosmetic applications. This means clinics can confidently offer these procedures without worrying about supply shortages.

The Dp Dermaceuticals EXO-SKIN Collection

Dp Dermaceuticals EXO-SKIN collection offers both clinical-grade and at-home formulations, designed to work in synergy with Dermapen Treatments™ for ultimate results.

Dp Dermaceuticals MG-EXO-SKIN™: The Gold-Standard Meso-Glide™

Dp Dermaceuticals MG-EXO-SKIN is an exclusive, professionals-only formula that enhances collagen synthesis, angiogenesis, cellular proliferation, and supports wound recovery. This potent formulation is designed to complement in-clinic procedures and mesotherapy, harnessing the regenerative powers of Exosomes to accelerate microneedling results and improve various skin conditions, including sun damage, ageing, rosacea, and pigmentation.

Using MG-EXO-SKIN as a Meso-Glide during a Dermapen Treatment is incredibly efficient. Imagine this: about 7,000 Exosomes can fit onto the tip of a single 33-gauge needle. At top speed, the Dermapen 4™ can deliver a staggering 13.4 million Exosomes per second, and potentially 806.4 million Exosomes per minute!

Dp Dermaceuticals EXO-SKIN SERUM™ and MOISTURISER™: Supporting Results at Home

For optimal results, it’s essential to support inclinic procedures with effective at-home care. The Dp Dermaceuticals EXO-SKIN SERUM and MOISTURISER combination is designed to maximise skin regeneration and maintain the benefits achieved through professional procedures.

EXO-SKIN SERUM and MOISTURISER harness the power of Exosomes and clinically proven active ingredients to improve a wide range of skin concerns, including signs of ageing. For best results, prescribe a twice-daily application.

And remember, results are cumulative with ongoing use. They will not plateau!

NAILING IT! The Good Nail Co.

A lifetime of allergies to face and eye makeup, and the daily grind, wear and tear on her hands of running a business, instilled in MODELROCK CEO and Founder, Raelene Mara, a desire to be able to indulge in her own version of glam and self-expression!

Coupled with a passion to deliver a solution that offers both creativity and style, with a touch of sophistication, to others suffering allergies like herself, the evolution of THE GOOD NAIL CO was realised!

THE GOOD NAIL CO delivers premium press-on nails, that are reusable, allowing you to effortlessly create your own salonworthy manicure in just 10 minutes! Raelene has ‘nailed’ the brief of curating a collection of affordable, salon-quality press-on nails that empower those who wear them!

What makes THE GOOD NAIL CO press-on nails particularly suited for salons looking to offer an addon express service with high-quality looks?

At MODELROCK, our mission has always been to listen to what our customers want and to redefine beauty; THE GOOD NAIL CO is a continuation of that vision. Post-Sydney Beauty Expo, I received valuable feedback from salon owners and makeup artists saying how much they love the inclusive nail designs and the branding. This confirmed to me the brand’s potential to be able to flourish in the salon beauty market. We understand that our industry is ever evolving, and we take great pride in inspiring both our clients and the makeup community. I am so passionate about creating and developing innovative products that meet everyone’s needs.

How easy is the application process?

One of the biggest advantages of press-on nails is their ease of application! With THE GOOD NAIL CO, simply peel off the backing or apply a small amount of nail glue and press the nail onto your natural nail bed for an instant manicure. The beautifully manicured nails that ‘you’ create will stay flawless for over 2 weeks when applied with THE GOOD NAIL CO’s exclusive Ultimate Bond nail glue. Alternatively, for a quick weekend getaway or a night out, the sticky nail tabs for a temporary wear-time of 1-3 days. Whichever your desired application, our nail accessories provided the care you need to extend the life of your nails and ensure they stay flawless for longer.

What design and style options are available for salons to offer variety while meeting client demands for on-trend looks?

Currently we offer 45 different styles & designs – catering to all tastes and preferences. A key goal with TGNC is to celebrate inclusivity and diversity, recognising that providing different nail lengths, shapes and designs is so important for every person’s personal & professional lifestyle.

Customers can choose from the elegant Short Almond or chic Short Square, the sophisticated mood of Medium Oval, or more length without sacrificing practicality with Medium Almond. Our glamorous Ballerina

What feedback have you received from salon owners who’ve added press-on nails as an add-on express service?

Increased Revenue: Salon owners have reported a boost in revenue due to the additional service. Clients appreciate the quick and cost-effective option of press-on nails; knowing that they don’t have to sit around for 1 - 2 hours is a dream and of course the $$ savings, which encourages more bookings.

Client Satisfaction: Salon owners have mentioned how happy their clients have been now that they can opt. for this quick and affordable add-on service which in turn has enhanced client satisfaction. Customers enjoy the convenience and variety of our available shapes and designs making them a popular choice for quick nail enhancements.

Time Efficiency: Press-on nails allow for a faster service compared to traditional nail enhancements. Owners appreciate the ability to serve more clients in a shorter time frame without compromising quality.

Flexible Options: Salon owners like the flexibility that press-on nails offer, allowing them to cater to clients who may not have the time for a full manicure or those looking for a temporary solution for special occasions. Overall, the feedback has been extremely positive, emphasising the benefits of an additional revenue stream, client satisfaction, and service flexibility.

How can press-on nails complement a salon’s existing services, and what type of clients are they most popular with?

I envision salons incorporating THE GOOD NAIL CO as an ‘add-on’ service, offering their clients “express mani services.” With an application time of just 10 to 15 minutes, salons can cater to clients who are time-poor or seeking quick results for special occasions. This allows clients to enjoy a salon-quality finish while supporting convenience. Our goal is to help salons provide an ‘Express’ option for today’s busy lifestyles.

“At MODELROCK, our mission has always been to listen to what our customers want and to redefine beauty; THE GOOD NAIL CO is a continuation of that vision”.

Could you share any tips or techniques for salons to enhance the press-on nail experience for clients looking for a professional finish?

Personalised Design Selection: Create a display of available styles and colours that clients can browse through. Consider offering a digital lookbook or an example tray where clients can see how different designs look on the hand.

Professional Application Service: Train staff to apply press-on nails with a focus on precision. This includes ensuring that the nails are properly aligned, securely attached, and any excess adhesive is neatly removed for a clean look.

Nail Care Packages: Offer aftercare packages that include items like nail glue, a buffer, and cuticle oil, so clients can maintain their press-ons at home. This encourages clients to keep their nails looking fabulous for longer. The Good Nail Co also offers our Revitalising Cuticle Oil in a pen form so it’s super quick and easy and fuss free to apply in seconds.

Seasonal Promotions: Run seasonal or themed promotions that feature exclusive press-on nail designs for the season. This keeps the offerings fresh and encourages clients to return for new looks.

Quick Removal Service: Provide a quick removal service for clients who want to switch out their press-ons frequently. Educate them on safe removal techniques to prevent damage to their natural nails.

Client Education Workshops: Host workshops where clients can learn about the benefits of press-on nails, how to apply them, and tips for care. This creates a community feel and builds client loyalty.

Customisable Options: Allow clients to choose from our designs or colours that match their outfits or special events, making the experience more tailored to individual needs.

Enhanced Comfort: Ensure that the press-ons are not only visually appealing but also comfortable. The Good Nail Co’s high-quality materials allow for flexibility and a natural feel.

Is there a minimum order amount?

No - salon customers are welcome to purchase as needed.

Take the worry out of over-processing lashes with Elleeplex Profusion .

At the heart of Elleeplex Profusion success lies its powerful formula, which combines a potent mix of nourishing vitamins and minerals with advanced conditioning agents that work together to deliver outstanding and consistent results.

Elleeplex features ReGen, the world’s most innovative Step 3 that amplifies lash hydration and strength for optimal results and overall lash health. With a lifecycle of up to 6 to 8 weeks and minimal irregular growth, Elleeplex Profusion also comes in convenient single-use sachets.

LASH LAMINATION STEP-BY-STEP

Cleanse the eye area using Elleebana makeup remover.

Protect the lower lashes by taping down the bottom lashes using protective under eye pads.

Attaching your silicone Place the rod or shield on the very edge of the lid as close as possible to the root of the lashes and continue with the same closeness the entire length of the lash line.

Adhering lashes into place on the silicone rods will require you to apply a thin line of lash lifting adhesive along the front of the rod.

Using your Elleebana Precision Lifter Tool scoop a small quantity of lashes in the hooked section of the lifter tool and slowly lift and slowly roll and wrap the lashes firmly from the base up and around the silicone rod.

Laminate - Open sachet marked step 1 in the Elleeplex lash lamination system and dispense into a tray, bowl, dish, glue ring or 2 in 1 mixing dish. Both the lamination and setting lotions required during the lash lamination treatment are a thick and creamy consistency to minimize the possibility of either of these products running into the eyes. Use an application brush to paint the step 1 lotion from the base of the lashes to ¾ of the way up the lash or for a more dramatic lift, extend the lotion further to coat the majority of the lash.

Remove - After the lamination lotion has processed for the required amount of time – dry wipe off the lamination lotion using a cotton Q-Tip or micro brush.

SET + Re-GEN NEXT GEN FORMULATION – combine well Elleeplex step 2 setting lotion with Elleeplex Re-GEN 2.0 Cream formula in a ratio of 8 parts setting lotion to 1 part Re-GEN in a mixing bowl or 2 in 1 dish. Apply the setting lotion to the lashes with a clean application brush from the base of the lash to the entire lash allowing the ReGEN Next Gen to provide amazing nourishing and hydrating properties to the lash, locking in the valuable ingredients.

REMOVE – after cleaning away any trash and rinsing your dish and brushes, prepare one half filled kidney dish with warm water. Gently tilt the head and rest the kidney dish with warm water beside the eye that you wish to rinse off. Dip a 4x4 esthetic wipe or cotton round in the warm water; press gently on the rod to soak the eye with the warm water and stroke the rod away from the eyelid in a downward motion. Comb the lashes with a mascara wand to separate the lashes and assess the lift.

Cryolipolysis vs. Electroacupuncture Alternatives

The beauty industry is experiencing a surge in non-invasive technologies that offer safer, less invasive alternatives with minimal recovery time. Cryolipolysis, a cutting-edge body sculpting technology, has become a mainstay in clinics for eliminating unwanted localized fat. Once dominated by liposuction, the field now embraces advancements that shift invasive procedures into accessible treatment-room solutions.

The Science Behind Cryolipolysis

The origins of cryolipolysis trace back to observations of “popsicle panniculitis,” first reported in 1970 by Epstein and Oren, describing cold-induced fat necrosis in children. Further exploration in 2008 by Manstein and Anderson uncovered that targeted exposure to temperatures around −5°C could crystallize fat cells, triggering an immune response to eliminate them while sparing surrounding tissues.

Fat cells are metabolized over 10-12 weeks through macrophage activity in the lymphatic system, resulting in a gradual 20-30% fat reduction in treated areas. However, this process involves remodeling of adipose tissue, sometimes leading to fibrosis in localized areas.

How Cryolipolysis Works

Modern devices like CoolSculpting employ advanced applicators designed to target a variety of body areas. Treatments involve heating tissue to 40°C for 10 minutes, followed by cooling to −5°C for 60 minutes, and finishing with reheating. This contrast cryolipolysis enhances fat cell crystallization, producing more significant results than cold alone.

Side effects are typically mild, including transient erythema, numbness, and edema. These effects resolve within days, making cryolipolysis a safe and appealing option for fat reduction.

Selective vs. Contrast Cryolipolysis

Studies comparing selective cryolipolysis to contrast methods reveal that the latter achieves higher fat reduction percentages due to the added impact of heat. A 2020 study by Hwang et al. demonstrated that alternating temperatures increased the efficacy of fat cell destruction while maintaining safety profiles.

Interestingly, research also suggests that cryolipolysis may lead to minor regeneration of adipose stem cells in rare cases, highlighting the importance of patient selection to optimize outcomes.

Patient Selection

Cryolipolysis is most effective for healthy individuals with small, localized fat deposits. Candidates with obesity or poor lifestyle habits often experience suboptimal, short-lived results. Conditions such as Raynaud’s syndrome, cryoglobulinemia, and cold urticaria contraindicate treatment, as do severe cardiovascular or hepatic conditions.

For suitable candidates, careful evaluation of body composition, lifestyle, and skin characteristics ensures safer, more predictable outcomes.

The Role of the Inflammatory Process

The inflammatory response is integral to cryolipolysis success. While macrophages aid in breaking down fat cells, there is potential for adverse effects, including scar tissue formation. Emerging evidence suggests lymphatic drainage massage may expedite recovery and enhance results, yet this is rarely discussed in clinical studies.

Electroacupuncture Alternatives

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) continues to evolve, with electroacupuncture emerging as a viable alternative to cryolipolysis for fat reduction. By delivering small electrical currents through acupuncture needles, electroacupuncture stimulates fat metabolism, enhances mitochondrial function in skeletal muscles, and promotes fatty acid oxidation.

While results are not as immediate as cryolipolysis, electroacupuncture can complement physical activity and serve clients with sedentary lifestyles or contraindications for cold-based treatments.

Conclusion

Non-invasive cosmetic treatments like cryolipolysis are transforming the beauty industry, offering safer alternatives to traditional procedures. By leveraging targeted cold exposure and the body’s inflammatory processes, cryolipolysis delivers sustainable fat reduction with minimal downtime. Electroacupuncture, while slower, provides a holistic option for clients seeking natural fat reduction solutions.

As the field continues to advance, integrating lymphatic drainage into cryolipolysis protocols and exploring complementary therapies like electroacupuncture could further enhance treatment outcomes. For practitioners, understanding the nuances of each modality ensures clients receive tailored solutions for their unique needs.

Consultation Deliberation: To Charge Or Not To Charge?

This conversation has been around since I started in the industry (a long time ago) and it’s still a point on contention. To charge or not to charge? Profitability, worthiness and backing yourself need to come into the equation. Your offerings also need to match your mission and values if they don’t align you will end up beating your head up against a brick wall wondering why everything is so hard!

Let’s begin with profitability, you know that time in our industry is precious and investing it wisely is always a good idea. There are two ways to think about this the first being that giving of your time will result in a reciprocation of the gesture in the client then deciding to invest in you. The second being that time is a valuable resource along with knowledge and much alike other specialists charging for your time and energy is vital.

What are the pros and cons of not charging for your time? To begin not charging for your time is possibly more on the risky side, you are not guaranteed a return on your time. This can leave you feeling burnt out and falling out of love with what you do. Being rejected repeatedly from a free consult is soul crushing over time. It doesn’t mean that this will be the case always, but in my experience often these are clients who want the information and will jump online when they get home and find something similar. This system is not something that I personally do but I know that for some business models it can work well if they have a solid client attraction program and are super specific on who they serve.

Let’s dive into the pros and cons of charging for your time. The only downside is that it may feel a little icky for you to begin with (side note this is a sign that you need to work on receiving from others) but once you get past this and see the amazingness that comes from charging for your time you will be kicking yourself that you didn’t do it sooner! The greatest advantage that comes from charging for you time is that you get clients who are serious about their skin and want your knowledge and help. Yes, you read that right you will be able to help them, have conversations about their skin health and wellness and take them on a skin journey.

Here is what I do and the way I have implemented this strategy effectively and why it works so well! When a client books their first appointment with me, I have a service that they book called a “Skin Wellness Facial” this includes a 40-minute skin health check-up and consultation. I then prescribe an hour facial treatment based on their skin needs on the day. Creating the space to have conversations and taking back control of the treatment room is incredibly empowering! You the clinician who has trained and is an expert in their field creates the treatment; not the client choosing from a pricelist based on what they think they need.

Now I know this is different to the usual book xyz facial come in have the treatment and voila! If you want to get serious about skin then you need to get serious about your time, and what you offer for prospective clients to book in for. This in my experience has led to very happy engaged clients and allows me to fulfill my mission of changing skin and changing lives.

With love, Alanna

The Skincare Revolution You’ll Love: Rejuran and DNA Science

The future of skincare may very well lie in the DNA of wild salmon. This concept was at the heart of the recent PharmaResearch Global Symposium, a high-profile event held at the scenic Lakai Sandpine Resort. Over two days, over 600 global dermatology and aesthetics experts gathered to explore how PharmaResearch’s DOT DNA Optimising Technology (DOT) is redefining skincare. Let’s dive into this revolutionary event and see how DNA-based treatments are reshaping the beauty industry.

The ‘Power of Renewal’: Nature’s Role in Regenerative Beauty

The symposium opened with a unique Salmon Harvest Experience along the Namdaecheon River in Korea, where participants witnessed the journey of wild salmon and learned how salmon DNA is the foundational element of Rejuran’s regenerative power. By harnessing this natural ingredient, Rejuran is redefining skin repair by offering a treatment that activates cell renewal and collagen synthesis, using a process inspired by nature.

A Glimpse Behind the Scenes: The DOT Bioengineering Tour Attendees also toured PharmaResearch’s state-of-the-art bioengineering facilities, where the DOT DNA Optimising Technology is developed. DOT technology refines wild salmon DNA to enhance its natural regenerative properties, providing deep support for skin texture, elasticity, and radiance. This hands-on tour left guests inspired by the scientific possibilities of DNA-optimised skincare, expanding the scope of regenerative health.

Insightful Panels with Dermatology Experts

The symposium’s intellectual core was a series of talks and panels with our own Dr. Steven Liew of Shape Clinic. Dr. Liew served as both host and moderator, bringing depth to discussions around DNA-optimised treatments. He also presented his own research on Rejuran, emphasizing how its science-backed formula stands apart from other products, particularly in its support of collagen repair and natural skin renewal. And Dr. John Sullivan of Kingsway Dermatology & Aesthetics also spoke of his experience on a panel.

Dr. Liew and Dr. Sullivan examined how regenerative medicine is evolving to meet the needs of modern skincare, shedding light on DNA-based treatments like Rejuran that enhance the skin’s resilience and address age-related concerns without invasive procedures.

The Unique Edge of Rejuran: Accessibility Meets Efficacy

For Australian women, Rejuran’s status as a Class III medical device offers a unique advantage. Unlike many cosmeceuticals with advertising restrictions, Rejuran can be freely advertised, allowing women greater access to information on its benefits. Rejuran’s DNA-based formula provides a science-backed choice that stands out in a market often crowded with less regulated products, giving it an accessible edge in anti-aging solutions.

The Social Side of Science: Gala, FESTA, and a Vibrant Exchange of Ideas

The symposium blended scientific rigor with social energy. Guests gathered at the PharmaResearch Gala to connect in an elegant setting, while the PGS FESTA brought excitement with photo zones, brand showcases, and a lively main stage where attendees shared their passion for advancing skincare.

A New Era for Skin Health

As the event wrapped up, attendees left with a deeper understanding of how Rejuran and DOT DNA Optimising Technology could pave the way for a new era in skin health. Combining the best of biotechnology with the purity of nature, Rejuran offers women an effective, natural-looking solution that’s free from the invasiveness of many aesthetic treatments. For women balancing personal and professional goals, Rejuran’s DNAdriven technology presents a smart, science-backed choice—one that celebrates both wellness and the beauty of simplicity.

What’s Your Signature?

Recently I was asked to speak to two groups of Fresh Clinics nurses in Melbourne and Sydney on behalf of Advanced Skin Technology (AST). When AST first reached out, they asked me to talk about the topic of creating a signature stye. The first question I asked both myself and Rochelle Akhavan from AST was ‘what’s a signature style?’ and then ‘do I even have one?’. Rochelle’s reply was emphatic when expressing that we absolutely have a signature style and she was quite surprised that I wasn’t aware of it.

So, I agreed to the presentation for two reasons. The first, because I love an audience (have you met me?) and the second because I wanted to explore what our signature was and where it came from.

When it came to titling my talk, I toyed around with a few titles – from breakdowns to breakdowns (the highs and the lows), from blackheads to blackouts (too many boozy nights) and from melodies to microneedling (a nod to my musical background). But as I created my presentation, I realised that our signature style had been created over 25 years of personal and professional experiences – some even before I gave my first facial – that had led us to where we are today, almost completely by accident.

So, I titled the presentation ‘an accidental journey’.

Next year, we celebrate 15 years in business and the values, the systems and our signature style that our clients, our colleagues and even myself can hopefully see is engrained in the James Vivian spirit, if I look back to when we first began, these have grown and developed since the first day we first opened our doors (and in my case it was my car door as I was a mobile business AKA The Travelling Peelsman).

Just like with our clients, where the journey is about constantly improving our clients complexions and experiences generally, the process of building your own personal signature so too is a journey.

For us, it’s been a journey of commitment to our clients to create the best experience we can offer, paired with finding our niche when it comes to a treatment offering, a bucketload of hard work and also lots of trial and error.

When it comes to creating one’s signature style, I think the emphasis really is in the word ‘one’s’. To me, it denotes a uniqueness that doesn’t exist in any other clinic or belong to any other offering. It’s yours and yours alone. And whilst other people may try to emulate your own signature, let me tell you why it often doesn’t work.

There should be a clear intention as to why every process, every value, every signature flare that exists in your business exists. They should be choices that are made to suit the style of clients you have, the calibre and skill set sets of your therapists, the reasons you went into business in the first place and why you stay in business. They should be directly related to your own personal wins and losses, trials and errors and personal and collective experiences that are unique to you and because of this, no one can replicate this.

And if you do find that people are trying to emulate your personal signature, whilst this might feel a little frustrating, just remember that no one does it like the original. You know why these signature moments exists, you tailored them to you to suit your business, as opposed to someone trying to retrofit your signature into their business.

So, what’s your signature? What differentiates you from the clinic down the road?

For us, our Signature style is steeped in us considering that we are a customer

service business first and foremost. Yes, we are a dermal therapies clinic but we are people performing treatments on other people. We understand that everyone does skincare differently. We love creating a space that is warm, welcoming, colourful and interesting. We have built a team of professional, talented and quirky therapists that not only reflect our signature style but help to build upon it. We don’t claim to do everything and we know what we do well, and for everything else refer to other people. We invest in great therapists, great equipment and place the same high standards on ourselves that our clients expect from us. We make mistakes but it’s about how we fix them that matter.

We also use social media to further our reach, be it educational or creative, to help people find us and help people who cannot make it our clinic with their skin. We love bringing joy to people not just in the treatment room but also digitally. Our social media presence, again an accident that occurred over COVID, is now a big part of the James Vivian signature and we continue to nurture our community and stay connected.

A signature stye is an evolution. Just like our industry. Constantly changing, improving, shifting. When it comes to running a business, there are often different stages of passion and intensity that I think we can all feel from time to time. For me, I oscillate between wanting to grow; wanting to stay exactly where I am and, on a bad day; burning the whole thing to the ground. Whilst we have some signature moves that will never change, just like with our clients skins, there is always room for improvement, and I am always looking for opportunities to refine our processes and signature style.

So, a big thanks to AST for asking me to consider our signature style. I encourage you all to look back through your journey and what events have occurred to make you make changes to your business that have helped separate you from the heard and help build your unique signature style.

Don’t Stay in the Dark: Illuminating the Power of Light and Circadian Biology for Skin

Health and Treatment Results

In the world of beauty and skin care, it is easy to stay at symptomatic surface-level solutions—moisturisers, serums, advanced facials, and the latest in rejuvenating technologies can absolutely support skin yet imagine if you could easily tap into a resource that connects the entire mind/body system for even better skin healing, repair and restoration.

You can...

It is time to recognise that one of the most powerful influences on skin health lies not in a bottle, device, or cream, but in something truly elemental.

It is light itself!

One of the most under-appreciated factors in wellbeing is light and darkness cues, and the circadian biology in our skin and body that they govern. Circadian rhythms are a systemic control mechanism that affects not only your skin’s appearance but also its ability to heal and regenerate.

By understanding the profound relationship between light, circadian rhythms, and our skin, we can unlock new potential for clients and therapists, and our industry as a whole.

The Skin and the Body’s Master Clock

Our bodies, including our skin, operate according to an ancient internal timing mechanism —known as circadian biology, and regulated by the suprachiasmatic nucleus or ‘master clock’ in our brain —that orchestrates countless biological functions. Just as we wake, move, eat, and sleep on a 24-hour rhythm, our cells are deeply attuned to the natural cycles of day and night on earth.

The skin, being the body’s largest organ, has its own circadian rhythms that influence everything from cell regeneration to immune function, hydration, and the production of collagen.

However, these rhythms are not self-contained. They are strongly influenced by the light signals our bodies receive, mainly via eyes but also through other receptors and chromophores. Sunlight is the most powerful entrainer of our circadian system, and exposure to the right types of light at the right time of day can dramatically enhance skin health and healing.

Conversely, misaligned light exposure—such as the artificial light we are bathed in for much of our modern lives—can throw these rhythms off course, leading to skin issues, premature ageing, pigmentation, acne, and even deeper systemic health problems.

Sunlight vs. Human-Made Light: Why It Matters

Not all light is created equal. The light that our skin and bodies have evolved under for millennia—natural sunlight—contains a full spectrum of wavelengths, from ultraviolet (UV) and visible light to infrared (IR). Each wavelength serves a unique role in regulating and supporting our optimal biology, and their daily input is vital for our health.

For example:

Blue light (natural) Blue light naturally rises in the morning and peaks at midday to enhance wakefulness, cognitive function and elevate mood. It gradually decreases in the afternoon and evening, being virtually absent at night in natural lighting conditions. At its midday peak we would also be receiving other signals in our system created by even higher energy UV light, such as warmth and redness, as a signal to decrease our exposure. Blue light in nature is always balanced by red and infrared light, which aids in healing and recovery.

Infrared light Known for its regenerative properties, infrared light penetrates deep into tissues and bones, promoting healing, reducing inflammation, and supports collagen and bio cellular water production.

Unfortunately, ‘we live in an artificially lit world with an overexposure to a narrow bandwidth of light. The light emitted from our modern devices—phones, laptops, TVs, household and commercial indoor and outdoor lighting, and other man-made sources—is vastly different from sunlight.

These devices primarily emit concentrated blue light, similar to what we would experience only at solar noon in natural light, but without any of the balancing effects of red or infrared wavelengths or the warning triggers of UV, creating an incredibly unnatural environment for our bodies and skin.

Studies have shown that prolonged exposure to artificial blue light, particularly at night, disrupts the circadian rhythm, leading to poor skin regeneration, skin water imbalances, increased inflammation, hyperpigmentation and accelerated ageing.

This is not just a cosmetic issue; the body’s misalignment with natural light cycles can also have far-reaching effects on overall health, impacting everything from appetite to weight to immune function to hormonal balance to metabolic function.

The Hidden Impact of EMF Fields

Adding another layer to this issue is the fact that man-made light devices don’t just emit light; they also generate electromagnetic fields (EMFs). While the scientific community is still uncovering the full extent of EMF exposure, early research suggests it may affect mitochondrial function, cellular communication and DNA integrity, particularly through its interactions with water molecules in the body. Given that our bodies—and our skin—are made up of ~60% water, the potential impact on skin health is something worth deeply considering.

While more studies are needed to fully understand the relationship between EMF exposure and skin, the combination of artificial light and EMF fields poses an increasingly relevant concern, particularly for those working in environments with constant screen exposure.

How Screen Exposure and ALAN (Artificial Light at Night) Are Sabotaging Skin Health

The prevalence of, and overexposure to, artificial light at night (ALAN) in our homes, workplaces, and urban environments disrupts our circadian biology and thus our skin’s ability to repair itself. For anyone concerned with skin health—whether clients seeking a youthful glow or therapists delivering treatment results—this is a critical point.

The effects of screen exposure and ALAN on skin include:

1. Disrupted melatonin production: Melatonin plays a crucial role in skin repair and rejuvenation. Artificial light, especially blue light, blocks melatonin production, interfering with nighttime skin repair processes.

2. Increased inflammation Blue light exposure has been linked to oxidative stress, which triggers inflammation. This aggravates conditions like acne, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, rosacea and hyperpigmentation.

3. Premature ageing: Over time, prolonged exposure to artificial light changes so many different cell dynamics, leading to a break down of collagen and elastin, leading to wrinkles, sagging, and other signs of ageing.

Strategies to Combat Artificial Light Exposure

Fortunately, there are actionable strategies both clients and clinic owners can adopt to mitigate the impact of artificial light on the skin:

For clients:

- Expose yourself to natural light. Getting at least 20 minutes of morning sunlight every day can help reset your circadian rhythm, boost mood, and support healthy skin function.

- Limit screen time, especially after sunset. Wherever possible, and ESPECIALLY after a treatment at your clinic, reduce exposure to screens.

- Use blue light-blocking glasses or screen filters. These tools can help minimise the impact of blue light on your circadian rhythm and skin.

- Consider red and IR light therapy. Incorporating these wavelengths consistently into your skincare routine can help counteract the damaging effects of blue light, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.

For clinic owners:

- Consider timing of treatments e.g. if using blue LED can you book client at midday so that light exposure would be more closely matching that of natural solar noon?

- Consider ways to reduce unnecessary light exposure from devices e.g. taping or covering, or using non-scented candles in your treatment rooms

- Installing warmer, full-spectrum or even incandescent lights in treatment rooms, staff spaces, and waiting areas. This can support the body’s natural rhythms and reduce the impact of artificial blue light.

- Consider using lighting systems that adjust throughout the day to mimic natural sunlight patterns, enhancing both client experience and staff well-being.

- Educate staff on circadian health. Helping your team understand the importance of light exposure can empower them to make better choices for their own health and the quality of care they provide.

A Holistic Approach to Skin Health

Ultimately, the future of skin health and treatment results lies in a holistic understanding of the body’s interconnected systems—and light is at the core of that understanding. By honouring circadian biology and making conscious choices about light exposure, both therapists and clients can enhance skin healing, improve treatment outcomes, and contribute to overall well-being.

By integrating these strategies into your skincare routine and clinic environment, you’re not just addressing surface-level concerns—you’re tapping into the deeper rhythms that drive true, lasting beauty from within.

The Highs and Lows of Running A Business with Multiple Staff .

Running a business with multiple staff can be a rewarding yet challenging experience. As an entrepreneur, and salon owner the decision to expand your team opens up new opportunities and avenues for growth, but it also brings its own set of obstacles. Allow me to share my experiences and explore the highs and lows of managing a team, offering insight into what it truly means to lead a business with multiple employees.

THE HIGHS

Increased Productivity: One of the most significant advantages of having multiple staff members is the ability to delegate tasks effectively. With more hands-on deck, businesses can accomplish more in less time. This can lead to improved efficiency and productivity, allowing the salon to take on maximum appointments to serve more clients.

Diverse Skill Sets: A diverse team brings a variety of skills and perspectives. Each staff member contributes unique strengths, whether in technical abilities, creativity, or interpersonal skills. This diversity can foster innovation, as team members collaborate and share ideas, leading to better problem solving and creative solutions.

Enhanced Employee Morale: Having a supportive team environment can significantly boost employee morale. When staff members feel they are part of a cohesive unit, they are more likely to be engaged and motivated. A positive workplace culture can lead to higher job satisfaction, lower staff turnover rates, and a stronger commitment to the salons goals.

Greater Capacity for Growth: With a larger team, a business can scale up its operations more effectively. This increased capacity allows for expansion and exploration of different product lines. Additionally, a well-rounded team can provide the groundwork for future growth and sustainability.

Shared Responsibility: Running a business can be overwhelming, but having a team means sharing the load. This shared responsibility helps to alleviate stress, as tasks can be divided according to each member’s strengths. Leaders can focus on strategic planning and growth while their team manages day to day operations.

THE LOWS

Communication Challenges: As the team grows, so do the potential for miscommunication and misunderstandings. Effective communication becomes crucial, and it can be challenging to ensure that everyone is on the same page. Regular meetings and clear channels of communication can alleviate these issues, but they require time and effort to establish. Often delayed or cancelled team meetings can be detrimental to a large team.

Conflict Management: With diverse personalities and work styles, conflicts can arise among staff members. Navigating disputes can be time consuming and stressful for a leader. It’s essential to foster a culture of respect and open dialogue to resolve conflicts amicably and maintain a positive work environment.

Increased Administrative Tasks: Managing a larger team often means more paperwork and administrative responsibilities. From payroll to performance reviews, the logistical side of running a salon can become difficult. Leaders must balance these tasks while ensuring they remain focused on the core goals of the business.

Training and Development: Onboarding new staff members requires time and resources. Investing in training is essential for ensuring that employees are well equipped to perform their roles effectively. However, this process can strain existing staff and may temporarily slow down productivity, compromising the salon culture and client expectations.

Financial Implications: Hiring multiple employees comes with financial responsibilities, from wages to bonuses. While a larger team can drive growth, it also requires careful financial planning to ensure that the business remains profitable. Sudden changes in revenue can create pressure on a business’s finances, making it crucial for leaders to budget wisely.

I’m sure now you would agree that running a salon with multiple staff members is a journey filled with both highs and lows. While the potential for increased productivity, diverse skill sets, and shared responsibilities offers significant rewards, challenges such as communication barriers, conflict management, and financial implications cannot be overlooked. Successful leaders must navigate these dynamics with empathy, clear communication, and strategic planning to foster a thriving work environment that drives the business forward. By embracing the complexities, salon owners can build strong, resilient businesses ready for success.

The Secret To Your Success.

Attracting clients to your salon is a rewarding challenge; keeping them returning is an art. While many salons boast beautiful designs and modern equipment, the essence of a memorable experience lies in the therapist’s passion and skill rather than the salon’s aesthetics.

When my business partner and I opened our first clinic, we started with second-hand equipment and DIY renovations. Our initial customers were drawn in by a half-price offer in a local gay newspaper, but their genuine connection with us made them return.

In a competitive landscape with other salons, the focus should always be on the customer experience. Make clients feel valued and share your enthusiasm for your craft—your skill will always shine brighter than the latest equipment. One of our original clients once shared, “You made me laugh, you were professional, and you loved what you did.” People are naturally attracted to those who enjoy their work, and about 60% of our current clients trace their roots back to those early days when our focus was on creating unforgettable experiences.

However, competency in an ever-changing industry remains paramount. Essential factors for success outside your passion include offering exciting treatments and equipment to stay competitive. Think beyond the familiar; just as diners appreciate restaurant specials, let your salon offerings feel fresh and exciting. Seasonal specials like “After Sun Treatments” in summer or “Warming Body Treatments” in winter can spark interest. Ensure you and your staff thoroughly experience these treatments—clients are likelier to try something new when it’s passionately recommended.

Investing in new equipment is essential but presents challenges due to associated costs. It is crucial to resist the urge to pursue every emerging trend and remain focused on your clinic’s objectives. Whether your establishment is a spa specialising in relaxation, a skin therapy clinic concentrating on anti-aging, or a hair removal

clinic requiring the latest technological advancements, it is imperative to identify which equipment aligns with your strategic vision. Remember that returning equipment is often not feasible after entering into a lease agreement or making a purchase.

Incorporating updated technology is vital for maintaining your clinic’s relevance and vibrancy; thus, it is advisable to introduce new machinery deliberately—consider implementing one piece at a time or conducting surveys to gauge client preferences. The results may reveal unexpected insights regarding their choices.

I want to share valuable advice from someone who has learned through experience: when selecting equipment, it’s essential to do your research. We made the mistake of purchasing one of those “oxygen” machines that Madonna supposedly used on her private plane. The consumables turned out to be quite expensive, and the trend faded quickly, forcing us to sell the machine at a fraction of the original cost on Gumtree. On the other hand, we still have the very first microdermabrasion machine we ever bought, which is used daily.

Fortunately, I have a colleague and best friend who is an expert in skin therapy machinery and serves as my business coach. Daniela Boerma from Total Coaching Academy consistently provides me with the best advice on what will work well for our salon. I wholeheartedly recommend her expertise. What may feel like an expense when hiring a business coach can save you a fortune in wrong decisions.

The moral of this story is that a successful business has many moving parts. When they all come together, true success follows.

Good luck, Will x Will

Crave Serious Success?

Hey beautiful souls! It’s Elle Wilson here, your go-to guru for all things brows, business, and beauty education. As someone who’s been around the block a few times (and picked up a thing or two from my four decades in the industry), I’ve got to get real with you about something that’s been on my mind lately.

Our industry is facing a major shake-up, and it’s not just about the latest TikTok trend or Insta-worthy look. It’s about the very foundation of our craft: education. And let me tell you, the cracks are starting to show.

Picture this: you’re scrolling through your feed, and BAM! Another ad for a “become a pro in a few days” course pops up. Sounds tempting, right?

Who wouldn’t want to fast-track their way to success? But here’s the tea, sis: those quick-fix certifications? They’re not all they’re cracked up to be.

I know you’re hungry for knowledge and eager to make your mark in the beauty world. But trust me when I say that true expertise isn’t something you can snag in a weekend workshop or an online crash course. It’s something you build, day by day, client by client, through hands-on experience and a commitment to never stop learning.

Think about it this way: would you trust a doctor who got their degree from a weekend bootcamp? Or a lawyer who learned everything they know from a few YouTube tutorials? I didn’t think so.

So why should it be any different in the beauty industry?

The truth is, when we settle for subpar education, we’re not just selling ourselves short – we’re selling our clients short, too. They come to us with their dreams, their insecurities, and their trust, and it’s our job to deliver results that make them feel like the best version of themselves. But how can we do that if we don’t have the skills and knowledge to back it up?

So, what’s a beauty visionary like you to do?

First up, expect more. Don’t settle for anything less than an education that dives deep, pushes you to grow, and equips you with the skills to excel in the real world. Seek out the industry OGs, the ones who’ve been in the game long enough to know what’s what. I’m talking about legends like Gay Wardle, one of my favorites and the up-and-coming Amelia Goff - the ones who live and breathe this industry and are fighting tooth and nail to uphold its value.

Next, demand better. Don’t let a flashy certificate be the only thing standing between you and your dreams. Do your research, ask the tough questions, and make sure any course or program you invest in is the real deal. Your future clients (and your reputation) are counting on you to show up with the skills to pay the bills.

And finally, never stop learning. Your education doesn’t end when you get your next certification or your diploma. It’s a lifelong journey, one that requires you to stay curious, stay hungry, and stay ready to adapt to whatever this wild and exciting industry throws your way.

I know it isn’t always easy. I’ve had moments in my earlier years where I doubted myself, wondering if I was good enough, smart enough, or talented enough to make it in this industry. But I’ve been through those struggles, and I’m here now. I pushed through. I kept learning, kept growing, and kept showing up for myself and my clients. And that’s what I want for you, too.

You see, when you invest in yourself, when you demand the best and never settle for less, amazing things happen. You become the kind of beauty professional who doesn’t just follow trends but sets them. The kind of beauty professional who doesn’t just make a living but makes a difference. And that, my love, is what truly matters.

So, consider this your official invitation to join the revolution. Let’s raise the bar, shake things up, and show the world what true beauty education looks like. Because when we demand more and expect better, there’s no limit to what we can achieve – for ourselves, for our clients, and for this incredible industry we call home.

Stay fabulous, stay fierce, and never stop learning.

Unlocking the Secrets of Circadian Rhythms

Did you know your skin has a natural rhythm, a 24-hour cycle working in harmony with your body to keep you looking your best? This fascinating process, circadian rhythms, is about more than your sleep schedule. It’s an ancient system embedded in our biology that profoundly affects everything from your skin’s ability to protect itself to the effectiveness of your favourite beauty products.

What Are Circadian Rhythms?

The term “circadian” comes from the Latin words circa diem, meaning “around the day.” It describes the natural cycles in our physiology and behaviour that repeat roughly every 24 hours. These rhythms were shaped by millions of years of evolution, adapting to the light and dark changes brought on by the Earth’s rotation.

Within our brains, a central “clock” located in the hypothalamus orchestrates these cycles. But here’s the twist—this isn’t the only clock running the show. Every cell in your body, including your skin cells, has its circadian clock, operating in sync with this master timekeeper. This internal system helps your body not just react to changes in light and dark but anticipate them, preparing your skin to meet the unique challenges of day and night.

Why Does Timing Matter for Your Skin?

The skin’s circadian clock is critical to renewing and protecting itself. During the day, your skin gears up its defences, creating barriers to protect you from harmful UV rays, pollution, and bacteria. But at night, a whole different story unfolds.

As you sleep, your skin switches to repair mode. Stem cells work overtime to replace damaged tissues, and cell division, or proliferation happens at its fastest pace—30 times more rapidly than during the day. However, this natural rhythm isn’t just about repair; it also impacts your skin’s moisture levels, blood flow, and even how well it absorbs your beloved serums and creams. At night, transepidermal water loss and blood flow increase by 30%, creating the perfect environment for active ingredients to penetrate deeply and work their magic.

Lifestyle effects have a profound impact on our skin and its response. For example, shift workers who sleep daily use their daytime products at night.

The Science Behind Glowing Skin

The idea of circadian rhythms isn’t new—it dates to the 1700s, when a French scientist, Jean-Jacques d’Ortous de Mairan, noticed that plants moved their leaves rhythmically even when kept in the dark. He theorised that this phenomenon was driven by an internal mechanism rather than external light. Centuries later, research shows that our skin operates much the same way.

Disrupting these rhythms, however, can wreak havoc. Studies have shown that when the skin’s natural cycle is thrown off—like jet lag, late nights, or stress—it becomes more susceptible to premature ageing and even an increased risk of skin cancer. When skin cells divide at the “wrong” time, their DNA is more vulnerable to damage, leaving your skin less capable of fending off environmental aggressors.

How to Work with Your Skin’s Clock

Understanding your skin’s natural rhythms is like unlocking a cheat code for beauty. For instance, knowing that nighttime is when cell renewal is at its peak can help you plan your skincare routine more effectively. This is the time to apply products packed with ingredients like retinol, peptides, or hyaluronic acid, which thrive in the skin’s overnight repair environment.

During the day, focus on protection. Antioxidants and SPF are your skin’s best friends, shielding it from UV rays and free radicals while in its “defence” phase.

Timing matters for professional treatments, too. When scheduling a facial or another skin therapy, consider how your skin’s circadian rhythms might affect the outcome. Early morning assessments might miss some hydration and blood flow changes later in the evening, potentially leading to less accurate diagnoses or suboptimal results.

The Future of Skincare: Chronobiology

This growing understanding of the body’s internal clocks has given rise to an exciting field called chronobiology, the science of how time impacts the body. Brands and researchers are now diving into how these rhythms affect everything from product absorption to ageing, offering a more personalised approach to skincare that’s as innovative as it is effective.

By aligning your skincare routine with your body’s natural rhythms, you’re not just taking care of your skin—you’re working in harmony with nature itself. After all, beauty isn’t just about what you put on your skin; it’s about when you do it.

At Circadia, our mission is to provide skincare professionals with innovative, science-backed solutions inspired by the principles of circadian rhythms. Circadia Skincare, founded by Dr. Peter Pugliese, is rooted in the science of chronobiology, which studies the body’s natural circadian rhythms. Our products are formulated with cuttingedge ingredients and backed by rigorous scientific research to ensure effectiveness and safety for all skin types.

The Modern Salon Owner’s Guide to Thriving in an Economic Downturn .

As a beauty business owner of Temple Skincare & Spa in the Sydney Hills District for 23 years, Rene Herald understands firsthand the unique pressures salon and clinic owners face daily. Whether it’s dealing with staff shortages, managing cash flow, or simply keeping clients happy. The beauty industry is no walk in the park! However, with the right tools and mindset, these challenges can be turned into opportunities despite what Forbes calls the economy as, “especially fraught,” but that “growth is still positive.”

Alongside running a multi-awarded spa for many years, Rene has a mentoring business for fellow salon and spa owners, Business Beyond Beauty. Being in the beauty industry for over 30 years and running the spa for 23 years has taught her valuable lessons that she is also privileged to share with younger salon entrepreneurs and startups. Here, Rene shares practical strategies that have helped her and can help fellow salon owners not just survive but thrive, particularly in our dynamic and sometimes volatile market.

Editor of Beauty Biz – Louise May chats with Rene Herald about her growth strategies.

How do you tackle recruiting with the issue of staff shortages in the industry?

If you’re anything like me, you’ve likely struggled to find and keep quality staff in recent years. This isn’t just a Sydney problem; it’s happening across the globe. One of the best strategies I’ve found to manage this is thinking outside the box when recruiting. Start looking beyond traditional hiring channels. Reach out to talented beauty professionals on social media like Instagram and showcase your salon’s unique culture to attract them. People want to work somewhere they feel inspired and valued.

Don’t overlook the potential of apprentices. I’ve taken on matureaged apprentices who may require more training initially but are often more loyal and reliable in the long run. And if you’re really stretched, consider sponsoring international talent when we land the skills list again. Investing in your people is an investment in your business, so fostering a positive work environment and offering continuous training to develop and motivate your team can reduce turnover.

Hiring new staff can be a costly experience, so I suggest you have systems in place to streamline the process and at the same time, foster a great starting foundation for the new team members. Such systems I suggest as imperative would be a strong interview and induction process. Be patient and hire the ‘Right’ person not just ‘A’ person. Make sure your ad copy appeals to the person you need to hire. Explain the benefits and perks of working within your team and what’s in it for them, and also explain clearly your expectations in return to ensure alignment from the beginning. Industry recruiters such as National Salon & Spa Recruiters can make this process easier if you are time poor. Please Please Please check references! As salon and spa owners we only want what’s best for each other, so to avoid finding out the hard way, I suggest you check references on all applicants.

Then when you have found your gem, start the induction process strong to inspire and excite them about their decision to join your team. Have the induction process mapped out and scheduled as we all know how busy things get in spa, and sometimes this can be pushed aside however its vital to the longevity of your team members. I have an induction checklist that begins with onboarding the essentials such as contracts and system setting up, to induction into the business philosophy and of course treatment protocols.

Set the foundation strong to increase your chances of retaining team members. Things you can do are: Send them a Welcome gift to make them feel warm and welcome to their new team. Book them for a few free treatments for them to experience your unique way. Before their first day, send them a personal affirmation message to let them know you are excited for them to start. It may have been a number of weeks between hiring the new team member and their start date, so break the ice and keep them excited about their choice to join you. Schedule an induction session with either yourself, or your manager to engrain the culture and values of the business, alongside the mutual expectations you have. Buddy them up with another team member to create a supportive environment. Explain the training process so they do not feel overwhelmed, and then schedule all their practical training sessions.

A little tip, any training that you repeat for any future new team members can be recorded and loaded in your online Policy & Procedure training portal for them to watch to save time and costs in the hiring and training process.

At Temple Skincare & Spa, we have various staff incentives for reaching their monthly and quarterly KPIs. Not only does this encourage friendly competition, but also, by making the goals fun to achieve, the girls really get into it. It’s a win-win situation as the clients are getting the real results they deserve and a wholistic prescription to their needs, the salon business is growing, and the girls are reaping the rewards and feeling valued. KPIs, we track are retail, rebooking, frequency of visit, upgrades, Program sales, utilisation, client reviews and we even reward them for remaining healthy and not taking sick days.

We also put a huge emphasis on training, not only in skills, but in team building so that each staff member feels supported and understands deeply that the business is much bigger than us. We focus on the impacts of what we do to each client’s life. Very often we talk about how a frazzled

client comes in from a hectic day and that we have the privilege to bring a positive change to them as they emerge relaxed, healthier and rested from a session with us. Also, we discuss that we have a role to play in our community via our Temple Hearts charity program, where we help local youth sports clubs, breast cancer support organisations and even domestic violence shelters.

From the very start during staff orientations, we clearly discuss these aspects of the business and make their roles more purposeful and meaningful.

What are your strategies around managing finances?

Managing finances can be a daunting task, especially for smaller salons or startups. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by cash flow issues, fluctuating client numbers, and rising costs. That’s where financial management software comes in. Tools like Fresha or GlossGenius, have been game changers for small business. These platforms not only track appointments and sales but also help with budgeting and inventory control. There are many other helpful apps however, for more robust features and consolidated CRM + Marketing functionalities, we use Phorest at Temple Skincare & Spa as we find it integrates well with our other Lead Generation systems and accounting software’s.

Additionally, consider diversifying your revenue streams by offering retail products, subscriptions or exclusive service packages. Loyalty programs are another simple way to encourage repeat clients. Even small changes—like offering a product with every high-end service—can make a big difference in your bottom line.

In a salon team, not all therapists might be great at prescribing retail and that dirty word “selling”. However, this is where we as business owners can intervene through providing staff sales skills training, and customer service training, not just training in massage or dermal treatment techniques. ‘Selling’... I hate that word but let’s be real, it’s part of our job… selling is an art, and not all therapists have the personality type to handle this art well, so training is vital. Training in the way to build rapid rapport with our clients is important, training in prescribing skincare and treatment programs is important and training in how to overcome objections during their process is important.

Customer service also plays a huge role in creating a loyal customer base who will not just serve as evergreen income, but also advocates for your spa or salon. Never underestimate the power of word-of-mouth referrals especially with social media platforms.

As an entrepreneur, there must be systems in place to help you and your team come together in hitting revenue goals as well. It never pays to run a business by default.

• cont’d over page...

Can you tell us about your Client Management?

The days of managing appointments on paper are long gone. If you’re still relying on outdated methods, it’s time to upgrade to an online booking system. This gives you more time to focus on your clients rather than administrative tasks.

Retaining clients also means investing in educating team members on how to create trusting and favourable relationships with them, maintaining strong rapport. This means that the team’s skill should be on point, the care for customers palpable and for the team, a clearly communicated set of actions on how to keep high standards of customer service. Being consistent with your customer service standard is imperative as clients like to trust in the brand you have created, hence trust that they will have that same standard of service you are known to deliver, each and every visit, consistently. Ensure you have a way to measure this. Measuring KPIs are important to business growth, however measuring customer service standards and consistency is important to business longevity!

With AI also fast dominating many aspects of business, we all have to put aside any reservations we might have about this and see it as an innovation, a tool that can be used for growing your salon. For instance, there is at least one simple thing that every salon owner can do to utilise AI for business. Setting up a chatbot for customer service on your website is a must. Often times we lose customers from merely being unable to get back to them fast enough if they reach out with a query. With Reception operation only several hours in a day, but with clients wanting to engage with businesses nowadays at all hours of the day, it can be tough acquiring more bookings. Automating a bot to respond to commonly asked questions like salon schedules, location, contact information and even adding your online booking system button in the bot conversation is a doable way to use AI to your advantage. Utilising AI to save money on designing beautiful graphics for your business is a way to keep running costs low. You can even use AI to create great email content to engage with your clients and SEO driven posts.

“Don’t overlook the potential of apprentices. I’ve taken on matureaged apprentices who may require more training initially but are often more loyal and reliable in the long run.”

These may sound intimidating (and expensive!) at first, but totally worth the time and effort. The end goal here is to future-proof your salon and adapt to changing economic climates and clientele.

Do you have any final thoughts?

Owning a salon, clinic or spa isn’t just about providing great services; if you want to have a successful and sustainable beauty business that withstands the test of time and longevity in our industry, it’s about running a tight business. Let’s face it, when we become therapists, we spend all our time and effort mastering our craft, the business side of things was not the first thing we think about, however it is crucial to master if you wish to create a business that doesn’t just survive in the face of challenges—but flourishes. The beauty industry is constantly evolving, and as salon & spa owners, we need to evolve with it and pivot swiftly when needed... (FYI, hate that word ‘pivot’ after Covid lol)

The one thing that transformed my career.

As skin therapists, there is a lot riding on our shoulders when it comes to achieving life changing results for our clients.

Our clients come with expectations of skin perfection and place their trust in our skills, knowledge and understanding of skin.

But there’s nothing like the pressure of a client dropping their skin issues in our lap and expecting us to perform miracles with a skin that’s been neglected since birth.

Suddenly we’re expected to undo a lifetime’s worth of skin issues with one facial and a miracle cream!

And for the most part of early my career, I carried the burden of being the sole responsibility for giving my clients their best and healthiest skin, no matter what. That was my job, that’s what I had signed up for, no matter what they did when they walked out my salon door.

understanding of how skin works that unburdened me. It was one simple sentence, dropped somewhere in the middle of a conversation, completely unrelated to skin science, that absolutely changed the game for me.

And when it didn’t work, the fault was mine, my treatments were insufficient, my products a waste of money.

Let’s not talk about the fact that some clients had pigmentation you could see from space, the culmination of a lifetime of sun, hormonal contraception and all the pigmentation triggers known to mankind. I had made that mean that it was my serums, my treatments that failed her and therefore I should probably pack up my apron and stack shelves for a living because I was clearly no good at this “skin stuff”.

After years of this belief that my client’s skin was solely my responsibility and if it didn’t work it was my failure, not theirs, it had become crippling. Self-doubt was the fulltime narrative that played in my brain.

Sure, I had some wins with clients and that’s what kept me hanging in there, however for much of it, I doubted my skills, questioned my products and started to second guess my service menu.

Forget the fact that I had basically plonked the entire responsibility of my client’s skin and its behaviours onto my own shoulders, not confident to recommend changes in their own life. I mean, how could I ask a client to make drastic changes when they were happy to simply pay for products and treatments we could blame when they didn’t work.

So, what changed?

Queue circa 2014 whilst sitting in a lecture with Florence Barrett-Hill, the Matriarch of advanced education for our industry, Flo opened my eyes to a world of skin cells and anatomy that changed the trajectory of my career. BUT it wasn’t this deep skin education or the

“The client’s skin, is the client’s fault.”

Wait what?? The client’s skin, is the client’s fault?

My client’s medical condition that leads to this skin issue, the genetic gifts passed to them from generations, surely that’s not their fault? They didn’t choose this. They didn’t ask for it? So how is that their fault?

“It’s not,” said Florence. “But it’s not yours either!”

Jaw.

Dropped.

In that very instance, the weight of the ‘results responsibility’ melted from my shoulders and I realised that I was trying to change things that were completely out of my hands. I was taking responsibility for what nature and neglect had given these clients and feeling like a failure when what I did didn’t work. I was blaming my own skills when I should have been handing the responsibility back to my client and their ‘luck of the skin’ draw. Who did I think I was? God?

Now, it seems foolish of me to think that me and my little skin care products could undo what genetics and nature had created for this client. The client owns their skin, their leading causes are their own, not mine. How a client manages the skin they’ve been given is their responsibility, not mine. My role is to use my knowledge, skills and tools to support them in that journey and help them make the changes that will serve their skin for the better.

From that very day forward, my consultations became collaborations.

Instead of me showcasing what my services claimed to do, what my treatments offered and what products they should use, every client interaction became about digging deeper, to understand the intrinsic factors that belong to my clients, so together we could understand what we could and couldn’t change.

Oily skin type? Can’t change that. But together can improve the health and flow of lipid secretions.

Pigmentation? Cant reduce it without first understanding the cause and removing it.

Rosacea, a serum won’t change the underlying perimenopausal triggers, but we can build a healthy strong skin that weathers the bad days much better.

I no longer took the blame for the inevitable hiccups that come along with certain skin conditions. Acne flares weren’t my failings, but the natural ebb and flow for a client who has this skin condition.

Rosacea wasn’t my fault to fix, pigmentation not mine alone to tackle, but a team effort where the client needed to carry the majority of the responsibility.

It’s their skin, it’s behaviour, triggers and flares are linked right back to their body, their habits, their lifestyle factors that either support or undermine it.

Does this mean I wash my hands of the responsibility of all and any skin conditions. Absolutely not!

But I did let go of the burden that my treatments and products were the make or break of my clients skin condition. I was able to see that what I offered was a support and a key part of the bigger picture of the whole that make up each client.

Instead of being my own proverbial ‘whipping post’ for all things misbehaving skin, I am now their guide, educator and mentor, helping them understand THEIR skin better and how to care for the skin they were dealt.

My services are there to support them, not cure them.

Now, when I go into a treatment plan, I do it knowing that I’m only 20% of my clients skin story, not 100% responsible.

Together we collaborate and I lovingly remind them when their skin has flared, to look at the bigger picture, not to focus on the serum and blame it for not working as it should.

When their skin takes an inevitable step forward, two steps back, I know that it’s not because what I do doesn’t work, I know that it’s because the intrinsic factors that make up each individual client are theirs to own and together, we are working on supporting those factors.

This understanding changed everything for me, and I will forever be grateful to Florence for such a seemingly flippant comment, but one that was so profound and freeing.

I was able to let go of the feelings of failure and step into being empowered with understanding that no two skins are the same.

Every client has their own story and whilst no one chooses the path of bad skin, what a client has is what a client has and it’s up to them to choose how they care for their skin.

It’s our job to help them understand it.

Why your Sponsorship Strategy isn’t bringing you new business.

We’ve all had the in-house September budgeting conversation surrounding industry investment before - where, how and why do we show up within industry the following calendar year? You’ll ask yourself; what events are happening, who can we sponsor, and where can we best spend our money to maximise awareness, drive advocacy and increase acquisition.

Sure, investing in event or award sponsorships can seem like a surefire way to attract new stockists or customers. But if you’re banking on sponsorship activation alone to grow your brand, you may find yourself disappointed by the results. Here’s why—and what you can do to make sponsorships work for your brand in 2025.

1. Sponsorship Alone Won’t Deliver New Stockists

Many brands assume that simply sponsoring an event, awards night, or industry conference will result in a flood of new stockists. The reality? While these activations give your brand visibility, they rarely convert on their own. Your potential accounts need more than just to see your logo on a banner or product in a goodie bag—they need to understand your brand’s value proposition and connect with your product or service in a meaningful way.

2. “Sponsorship Doesn’t Work for Us” –Or Does It?

When brands claim that “sponsorships don’t work for us,” it’s often because they haven’t aligned the right strategy with their brand objectives. Not all sponsorship opportunities are created equal. For example, the industry segment or your ideal stockist might not be attending the events or

engaging with the awards that you’re sponsoring, or (more likely) you may not be maximising your engagement during and after the event. Rather than dismissing sponsorships entirely, it’s worth refining your approach to ensure you’re investing in the right opportunities.

3. Make Your Money Work: Pre & PostEvent Content is Key

If you’re not creating content before and after the event, you’re missing out on crucial touch points to extend the life of your sponsorship. Preevent content (such as social media posts, email campaigns, and PR) creates anticipation and awareness. Post-event content solidifies your presence and keeps you top of mind. Consider sharing behind-the-scenes insights, exclusive interviews, or testimonials from the event to reinforce your brand’s impact.

4. Develop a Sponsorship Funnel

Creating a sponsorship funnel is essential for turning event exposure into meaningful leads. Think of the event as the top of your funnel, where you generate interest. Next, ensure you have a solid strategy for collecting leads—whether that’s through giveaways, sign-ups, or direct conversations. Then, nurture those leads with targeted follow-up communications that guide them through the buying journey for the purpose of building brand trust. Without a structured funnel, your sponsorship investment can quickly lose momentum.

5. Build a Nurture Sequence for Event Attendees & Award Winners

Finally, it’s critical to have a structured nurture sequence for following up with event attendees or award winners. This outreach should feel

personal, relevant, and timely. Whether you’re sending a series of educational emails, offering exclusive deals, or hosting post-event extras, your goal is to keep your brand top of mind and build deeper connections with the people who matter aka prospective accounts. Don’t let valuable contacts go cold—engage them consistently and with purpose.

By aligning your sponsorship strategy with a clear, actionable plan that spans pre-event, event, and post-event activities, you can transform what might feel like a passive investment into a powerful business growth tool.

Sponsorships aren’t a one-size-fits-all approach, so stop rinsing and repeating them and hoping for a different outcome. With the right mix of preevent hype, post-event content, a well-designed sponsorship funnel, and a nurturing outreach strategy, you can make sponsorships a key driver for new stockists and business opportunities. Evaluate your current approach, refine your strategy, and make every sponsorship dollar work harder for your brand.

Adapting your business to ever-changing clients .

At the core of every beauty business is the client. Success in the industry depends on understanding your clients, adapting to their needs, and creating experiences. As technology continues to transform how businesses operate, using it to your advantage can make all the difference.

Understanding client needs in a competitive market

In today’s fast-paced world, convenience and personalisation are top priorities for clients. Clients adore seamless booking experiences and tailored services. Meeting these demands can feel overwhelming, especially when juggling the day-to-day admin of running a business. Fresha, the beauty and wellness booking software, sat down with Alissa Brandtman, founder of The Whitening Clinic. They asked her what advice she’d give to anyone in the industry looking to start or grow their business. She said, “The advice I’d give to another business owner in this industry is really to look at your clients and their pain points and look at how you can actually nurture those clients and give them the experience that they love.”

Fresha’s platform is designed with this in mind. It helps beauty salon owners manage appointments, payments, marketing, and client relationships effortlessly—all in one place. By leveraging Fresha, you can spend less time on admin and more time crafting exceptional client experiences.

The

power of seamless booking and scheduling

One of the most critical pain points for beauty clients is difficulty in booking appointments. Long wait times, unclear schedules, or outdated systems can frustrate clients and drive them elsewhere. Fresha eliminates these issues with an easy-to-use online booking system that allows clients to book on the go.

Send automated reminders through Fresha and reduce no-shows by making sure clients stay engaged. By offering a hassle-free booking process, you improve the experience for your clients from the moment they book and through to when it’s time for them to leave a review after their appointment.

Personalise your clients profiles

Building strong relationships with clients means understanding their preferences and needs. Fresha’s detailed client profiles allow salon owners to keep track of appointment history, preferences, and feedback. This information helps you tailor services to each client, creating a personalised experience that fosters loyalty. For example, if a client regularly books hair treatments or specific beauty services, you can store their preferences in their Fresha profile and keep their previous appointments to hand. And if you want to find out more about a new client, you

can send through consultation forms beforehand so you’re able to offer a more tailored service when they visit.

Use insights to understand your clients Data-driven insights are invaluable for understanding trends and improving operations. Fresha provides comprehensive analytics on sales, bookings, and client behaviour. This information helps business owners identify areas for growth and make informed decisions.

And through understanding, you can market the right messages to the right people

Reaching new clients and retaining loyal ones is essential for long-term success. Fresha offers built-in marketing tools such as automated promotions, email campaigns, and review management. These features help you stay connected with your audience, showcase your services, and encourage repeat visits. You’ll be able to launch a targeted promotion for a new service or send personalised thankyou messages to regular clients—all with just a few clicks. Fresha makes it easy to nurture relationships and build a thriving client base.

Take payments however your client wants to pay

Payment processing is another area where Fresha shines. The platform supports secure, cashless payments like Tap to Pay on iPhone and upfront payments in the app. Clients appreciate the flexibility and ease, while salon owners benefit from faster, more reliable transactions. With a powerful platform like Fresha, beauty salon owners can take that leap with confidence. By addressing client pain points, enhancing

operations, and delivering unforgettable experiences, you’ll set your business apart in a competitive industry.

Using Fresha for your beauty salon isn’t just about keeping up with the latest technology— it’s about putting your clients first. The New Client Experience.

What are your feelings towards new clients in your books? Do you have lots of them? How are they allocated? Are they in your column or in your team’s?

When we deep dive into the role that new clients playing our business, these are the questions that we must ask ourselves. It often surprises me how many salon owners take for granted the numbers of new clients on the weekly reports.

Today I want to take you on a deep dive into your new client experience, making sure you are super clear on how to deliver service in such a way that keeps people coming back for more!

Let’s start by looking at your role with new clients.

If you are in a position where you are wanting new clients, it’s time to flex those marketing muscles to get them through the door. If you’d like new clients BUT you want to place them in your teams’ hands, are they up to scratch to give them a phenomenal service and retain them? If you’re wanting to set your intention to close your books or reduce your clientele/time on the floor, what boundaries are you thinking of putting in place to make this happen?

Time to crank that BIG picture Thinking!

SO! If there were absolutely no limits, no judgments and no consequences, would you personally close your books to new clients? Do YOU really need to grow your own client base?

Let’s do some thinking right now and look at your options.

Theoretical Option A

Throw yourself into growing your biz:

- 0 new clients in your book

- 6-8 hours growth related actions

- Requires time/money/resources/potential out-sourcing

- Revenue = The sky is the limit

Theoretical Option B

Throw yourself into looking after new clients:

- 4 new clients in your book

- 6+ hours of work on the floor

- Requires exceptional consultation/service/quality

- Revenue = $600+ depending on services + potential future revenue if retained

All too often I see salon owners not truly appreciate the value of their time. If you personally have gaps in your appointment book and you want to grow how many clients you look after, option B is great for you!

However, most salon owners if they are really honest with themselves, want to opt for option A. if you have a tan and you are able to flex that business growth muscle, more often than not the return on investment of your time greatly outweighs you spending hours looking after new clients.

There is a phenomenon which I have experienced firsthand, when I look after new clients, they leave hungry for more, a complete raving fan, spending a truckload of money and telling all their friends about how amazing the service was. BUT! (And a big but), I didn’t want to grow my client base, and I had a team that could not deliver the service that I did.

I needed to make an epic shift in my mindset and also an epic shift in where I spent my time in the business.

The sooner I realised that I could impact the lives of more people by showing my team how I delivered that exceptional client experience, the faster and more sustainably my business grew

So, this begs the question, what’s YOUR “New Client Experience” like? Is it:

- Special

- Unique

- “WOW”

- Memorable

- Do you have a strong consultation? How long is your consultation?

- What do they expect?

- What are your touch points?

- How do you create connection or personal rapport with them?

- Do you have a welcome pack? If you do, what’s in it? If you don’t, what’s stopping you?

So, if you can’t say a resounding and confident yes to the above questions, Let’s Level Up! Its challenge time!

If you are a super organised salon owner you may just have your education and training mapped out for the months to come, for every training and education that you have booked and organised, I want you to match that with training and education on how to deliver incredible service to your new clients.

Please remember, clients don’t remember what you do, they remember how you make them feel. It’s time to step up and level up your client experience to create a tribe of raving fans.

TREATMENT TABLE THE edit

Designed with client comfort in mind, Comfortel’s electric treatment tables and beauty beds come in your favourite hue and include medically approved electric motors.

Setting Yourself up for Success in 2025.

I often get the question: “What is one hack you recommend for growing on social media?” And without bursting anyone’s bubble, I’m here to tell it straight. Just like going to the gym and wanting to get healthy, just like wanting to improve the condition of your skin, social media success in whatever that looks like for you does not happen overnight. Just like getting fit, just like improving your skin, there is no hack; it takes hard work, strict steps and guidelines, discipline, and dedication to get said result.

So, the question I will answer for you today is, “If I were to start my social media from 0 followers in 2025 as a salon, what would I do.”

First things first, if you have read one of my social media articles before or you follow me on social media, you will know that I focus a lot on understanding who your target audience is. And I talk about this a lot because it essentially is the building block for your entire social media marketing strategy. Understanding who you’re talking to reflects the type of content that you need to create to get results. When making a post on social media, you need to ensure that you are speaking directly to the target audience that you want to attract to your business. If you are posting content for everyone, you are posting for no one.

Dig deep and think about who your target audience is, how old they are, what are their spending habits, what their perfect day looks like, how invested they are in taking care of themselves, and how invested they are in committing to home care and treatment plans or memberships. This will all dictate the type of content you need to create and who you need to speak to.

What do you have? To establish your target audience, you then need to list their problems and pain points. An example of this is if your salon or clinic wants to focus on adult acne, some of the problems that your target audience would be struggling with would be painful skin, cystic acne, sensitivity from using incorrect products, impaired barrier, incorrect products, incorrect treatments, excess oil or dryness, irritation. Also then, list the psychological problems that your target client would be suffering from, and this would look like lack of confidence, sore skin, feeling the need to cover their face with makeup, worries or anxiety about going to social events, thinking they have tried everything and nothing has worked. This is just to name a few…

Once you have listed your problems, which you could do in a table format, and divide two pieces of paper into two unless the problems are on the lefthand side, then on the right-hand side. For each problem or pain point, I want you to list the solution that you have available to you inside your salon or clinic that is going to fix these problems.

The key here is when you are creating a social media post, you want to touch on and make your audience aware of the problems that they are struggling with, and you can only do that by directly speaking to them through your

social media and then offering them a solution. This will not only showcase you as an expert in your niche but also drive more interest in your treatments and your services so they can get their problem fixed.

The next thing I would do would be to decide or commit to how I could commit to posting on social media and stick to it. There is no firm rule on how often you need to be posting; however, you do need to be posting consistently, so don’t decide at the start

of 2025 that you are going to post seven days a week knowing that this is not going to be achievable over a long period of time. Set a realistic goal for yourself, whether it be three days a week or five days a week, and stick to it.

Next would be the type of content that I would be creating; I like to use a combination of still posts, carousels with text and audio (you can now post up to 20 slides per carousel), and reels. With the reels, I would be providing value and educating my audience to build my brand authority and connections. Content ideas like Green screens, how-to Tutorials, and educational tutorials White huge volume to your target audience.

So, we’ve established our target audience, their pain points, and what type of content to create the next thing is showing up! Yes, you heard right, showing up and showing your face on your social media. You may think that this is your worst nightmare, but you cannot grow on your social media if you are not willing to be seen. We’ve seen a huge shift in social media trends over the last two years; audiences prefer to see the people behind the brand versus the brand itself, meaning people don’t just want to see behind the scenes of your salon reception, they want to see you, they want to see your team and they want to be building connections with you PERIOD! Suppose you are not willing to put yourself out on social media or are fearful of doing so.

In that case, I’m sorry to say that you are going to be left behind, so if this is something that you are struggling with or hate the thought of, I would strongly suggest looking into two courses or avenues to help you overcome this fear.

Lastly, building a community is one of the most important steps you need to take on your social media strategy in 2025. And no, that doesn’t mean growing or getting new followers. It means connecting with and nurturing the community and all the followers that you already have on your social media to convert them into clients. And this is done through showing up, sharing stories, and building connections, and 80% of your conversions on social media are done through your stories. So, if you are not posting regularly on your stories, you are missing out on huge potential to convert your followers into clients. And this is done by showing up and having authentic conversations with your audience.

Something to note here: It doesn’t always have to be about the treatments you are performing at your Salon De clinic. One of my most viewed and interrupted stories was a story that I posted calling out to my audience to give me solutions for migraines. Why did this

do so well? Because everyone wanted to help, everyone wanted to give me their advice, everyone wanted me to get better. Your audience cares about you, and they want to see you win, so feel free to ask for advice about things outside of the Salon clinic. You could even talk about roadworks down your street, it doesn’t have to be complicated.

To add to this a little bit more, to build connections correctly, you need to engage back with your audience, and this is my last tip: please engage with your audience. Do not ignore comments on your post; reply back to them with an open-ended question and keep that conversation going. Not only does this build more connection with your audience, but it also shows the algorithm that people are interested and engaging with your content, meaning they will show that content to other lookalike audiences to the people who follow you.

This also goes for your stories. In 2025, I do not want anyone to double-tap or like a comment that someone has sent you on social media in a message. You need to be engaging and building conversation and connection in your inbox. THIS is what is going to build connections and build your business online.

As you step into 2025, remember that success on social media doesn’t come from shortcuts or quick fixes—it comes from consistency, authenticity, and connection. By truly understanding your audience, addressing their pain points, and showing up as the face of your brand, you can create a social media strategy that not only grows your salon or clinic but builds a loyal community. Don’t be afraid to engage, start conversations, and show the human side of your brand. When you focus on connection over perfection and invest in nurturing your existing audience, you’ll set yourself up for sustainable growth and success in the year ahead. Now, it’s time to take the first step—2025 is waiting for you to shine!

Can’t wait to see you win!

New Year, Fresh Bloom: How To Make Your Brand Thrive In 2025

Welcome to 2025! With the holiday rush behind us, now’s the perfect time to catch your breath, reflect on the whirlwind that was, and start looking forward to what’s next. And if there’s one thing worth prioritising this year, it’s your brand.

Because here’s the truth: your brand isn’t just about looking good on Instagram. Social media is a wonderful tool (no arguments here) but your clients interact with your business in so many other ways. From walking past your signage to flipping through your treatment menu or taking home one of your aftercare cards, every touchpoint counts.

And when all those touchpoints work together, that’s when the real magic happens. A cohesive, well-rounded brand doesn’t just look professional, it feels memorable. It’s the difference between being just another business and being the one your clients can’t stop recommending.

Step 1: Start with Consistency

Consistency is the foundation of a great brand. It’s what makes you recognisable, trustworthy, and polished.

Take a quick audit of your brand’s current state:

● Does your Instagram feed match your in-salon materials, like price lists or treatment menus?

● Do your email communications feel like they’re part of the same story as your social posts?

● Is your logo used consistently across all platforms?

● Can your customers book with ease across your digital media?

If things feel a little disjointed, don’t worry, you’re not alone. This is the perfect time to align everything. Think of it as giving your brand a “new year, new me” moment.

Step 2: Look Beyond the Scroll

Social media might be where your brand shines brightest, but it’s far from the only place your clients see you.

Imagine this:

● A beautifully designed referral card that makes your clients excited to recommend you.

● A personalised treatment plan that reminds them of your care and expertise long after they leave.

● A thoughtfully placed mirror talker or door handle hanger that sparks a smile while they’re in your space.

These physical touchpoints create a sense of connection that digital alone can’t achieve. And let’s not forget the power of snail mail, there’s nothing quite like receiving a stunningly designed card or voucher to make your clients feel special.

Step 3: Plan for Seasonal Magic

With your brand aligned and shining across all platforms, it’s time to think ahead. Seasonal campaigns aren’t just a great way to boost business, they’re also an opportunity to show off your brand’s personality.

Some examples might include:

● A Valentine’s Day offer, paired with charming social posts and a matching in-salon display.

● Mother’s Day gift vouchers that are as irresistible as the treatments themselves.

● Winter specials brought to life with emails,

posters and even themed aftercare cards.

Planning these campaigns early means less stress later and ensures your branding feels thoughtful, intentional and oh-so-polished.

Your Brand, Fully Bloomed

By now, you can probably see it; branding isn’t just about logos and colours. It’s about creating a seamless, memorable experience that follows your clients from their first Instagram scroll to the moment they leave your salon and beyond.

And here’s the best part: you don’t have to do it alone. While you focus on running your business, we’re here to bring your branding vision to life. From aligning your materials to crafting standout seasonal campaigns, we’ll ensure your brand shows up beautifully and consistently, every single time.

Let’s make 2025 the year your brand doesn’t just bloom, it thrives. Ready to get started?

How to Sound More Confident in your Copy. (and why it matters!)

So here we are, a fresh start in 2025, and the phrase “be more confident” is popping up all over New Year’s resolution lists. Now, I’m not the biggest fan of resolutions (let’s be real – how many do we actually stick to?), but I can get behind the idea of stepping into the year with more confidence, especially when it comes to how your business shows up in the world. Confidence isn’t just about how we carry ourselves in person; it’s also about the words we put out there – words that are often the very first impression someone has of your business.

Studies show that the average time a visitor spends on a webpage is a mere 52 seconds. That’s less than a minute to grab their attention, make a positive impression, and make them feel like, “Yep, I’ve found the one!”

So, how do we do that? With words that ooze confidence. Let’s explore four ways to make your copy sound confident AF in 2025.

1. Replace “IF” With “WHEN” And Own Your Expertise

“If you book a consult…” Nah, let’s not be shy. You’re an expert – so write like one!

‘If’ leaves the door open for doubt. It sounds like a maybe, a ‘take it or leave it’ or the dreaded “I’ll book online at home” situation.

But “WHEN you book a consult…”? Now that’s confidence. It’s assertive, confident, and suggests that booking with you is a no-brainer.

Clients are drawn to confidence because it makes them feel secure in their investments. You know your treatments work and the transformations you deliver, so let your words reflect that. Assure them that when they choose you, they’re in expert hands.

2. Consistency

Builds Trust, And Trust Brings Bums on Beds

In today’s market, where clients are more attuned than ever to authenticity, consistency is key to building loyalty and trust, and this extends to how you sound as a brand.

Consistency in tone of voice across all touchpoints is like nailing the perfect formulation for a confident, memorable brand. How you sound on social media should align seamlessly with the tone on your website, blog, and emails and match the vibe in your physical space.

Imagine building a bold, “badass skin expert” persona online, only for clients to walk into a tranquil, spa-like atmosphere with Enya on

repeat. It creates a disconnect, leaves your client with expectation whiplash and a brand that looks like it’s going through an identity crisis.

A strong, congruent tone of voice across every channel helps create a clear, trustworthy identity. When clients encounter a consistent brand personality, from the first social post they see to the vibe they feel in your space, it builds credibility and deepens their connection to your business. In a world where clients are more brand-savvy than ever, this alignment is essential. Be the brand they can rely on in treatment and words.

3. Cut The Waffle – Clarity Over Filler

Remember back in school when you’d fluff up your essays with extra words just to hit that word count? Yeah, leave that habit in the past. In marketing, brevity is a superpower. If you can say something in a concise, no-fluff way, do it.

Confident copy is clear copy, and clear copy gets results.

Think about it like this: you wouldn’t give your clients homecare instructions that sound like a science lecture, right? You’d never say, “Apply L-ascorbic acid to defend against unpaired electrons causing oxidative stress and collagen degradation.” Instead, you’d say something like, “Use your Vitamin C serum in the morning to brighten and protect your skin.”

It’s the same with your copy. Get to the point and tell the person what you need them to do.

There’s a misconception that concise copy is somehow cold or blunt, but clarity doesn’t have to come across as rude. ‘Cutting the waffle’ simply means valuing people’s time by giving them straightforward, actionable information. When your brand has a confident, consistent tone of voice, you can tell clients exactly what they need to know (like booking a consultation on your website) in an aligned and inviting way.

4. Know Who You’re Talking To (And Speak Their Language)

The more you try to speak to everyone, the more you speak to no one. Your clients aren’t just numbers or appointments – they’re people with real dreams, struggles, and desires. Behind every booked slot in your calendar, a person has chosen you to help them feel better about their skin, confidence, or wellbeing.

It’s up to you to speak directly to them. Tap into what makes them tick, what they’re worried about, and what they’re hoping for. When you write copy with them in mind, you’re crafting a message that resonates. And as you get to know your ideal clients better, your confidence will naturally shine through in your words – because you’re no longer guessing. You’re speaking to someone you understand.

Ultimately, sounding confident in your copy is about trusting your expertise, staying consistent, being clear, and connecting with your people. Make it your mission this year to let your words reflect the passion and skill you bring to your work. Your clients deserve it, and honestly? So do you.

Growing Slowly is better than Standing Still

The world as we know it is changing at a rapid pace. Cost of living has been one of the top subjects with majority of the country having to reassess, budget and sacrifice to make ends meet. We have global issues such as war and conflict, resulting in passionate debate, fiery conversation and protests contributing to feelings of unrest and uncertainty. Technology is rapidly advancing, with AI becoming more prominent, cash payments are disappearing and even bricks and mortar businesses are dropping locations in favour of doing business online.

Running a business nowadays is not an easy feat, and while so much is happening, we’re encouraged to keep up with it all; maintaining a work-life balance, keeping up to date with all the changes and sustaining overall wellbeing, but how do we when it feels like the goal posts are constantly moving?

Whilst the world around us is evolving at hyper speed, it’s the small steps that you make that will have a bigger impact on the way you live. In your personal life, your business, your community and beyond. Don’t know where to start or what steps to take? Here’s a few of my tips to try…

1. Be open to learning.

From the moment we are born and take our first breath we are learning. Acknowledging that we don’t know everything, and in some cases, we’re going to fail, opens us up to the process of learning and cultivates a growth mindset towards learning new things. We are all lifelong learners. When we learn more about ourselves, we have the opportunity to become better versions of who we are and how we show up in the world. Think of it as a chance to declutter your mind, discarding what may have been incorrect or didn’t work and replacing it with new knowledge and insight. The power of hindsight, eh?

2. Connect with compassion.

To live a compassionate life, requires both softness and strength. We can all claim to have a strong backbone, but this should be complimented and balanced out with a soft front. After all, our very existence is filled with opposites such as light and dark. Compassion involves acknowledging that all lives are just as important, sacred and of value, just like our own. It’s a motivational state, and this motivation could take the form of action, such as stepping in and helping, or simply offering kindness.

3. The language we use matters. Don’t underestimate the power of words. The ones we choose and the way we use them persuade, influence and affect how people view the world, including ourselves. Words don’t just reflect reality; they create reality. Whether it be vocally, written down or posted online, words have the power to make people feel understood, valued and supported, however, they can also make people feel undermined, misunderstood, stigmatised and excluded. Try making a commitment to using positive language and making positive statements. It may seem like a small step but could make a huge difference to someone’s day, especially your own.

4. Set boundaries.

This one isn’t just about setting boundaries with others but also setting boundaries with yourself. Boundaries can be perceived as harsh, but they are also an integral part of self-care and a way of keeping your needs from being put last. If you consider yourself a compassionate person, you may feel called in when someone is in need or offer your help before it is asked, and making yourself available to others is something you may be used to. Considered an amicable quality, the flip side of this is that your offer or expectation of help can become a burden. You may experience compassion burnout, and this is something I’ve personally experienced and had to learn from. Prioritise self-care and aim on keeping your cup full before you hold space for others. You may feel riddled with a sense of guilt, but these boundaries will not only protect your energy but can also lead to healthier relationships and improved self-esteem.

As 2024 comes to an end and we welcome a new year, choose wisely. Always choose to heal, not to hurt. To forgive not to despise. Choose to persevere and not to quit. Choose smiles over frowns, choose love over hate. Life a life that matters and be remembered not for your competence but your character, not only for your success but for your significance.

It has been an honour and blessing to once again be able to share my thoughts and contributions with you in 2024 and I look forward to sharing more in 2025!

As always, I believe in you!
