THE BROAD-RANGE unusual We have already tasted summer 2015 that winks at the past through new collections, including enticing good taste and bold style made of maxi transparencies, pop-inspired prints and graphics, amazing materials and workings featuring special effects. But it’s already struck the hour of fall/winter 15/16 previews. Strong points are the taste for craftsmanship, the soft, worn-look leather worked with gusto and passion, exotic leathers of outstanding beauty realized in fascinating colours and interesting models reinvented with imaginative inserts sewn in flowers and butterflies shapes. In this regard we would like to emphasize how creativity, style and good taste will always be winners when new ways of interpretation aimed at the innovation are conceived.
From fashion extravagance to passepartout outfits, to the urban dandy, the pleasure of a nice bag and a ankle boot pools the choices of those men and women who love the taste for beauty, (a rule that will never go out of fashion). Of note, the search for alternative shapes and lines for bags inspired by the pure geometry, the chapter focusing on the combination between fashion and design, the one dedicated to men’s shoes as urban sneakers mixed with fascinating, powerful motorcycles recently presented at the fairs in Cologne and Milan and, among the accessories, a look to the trendiest glasses. Finally, our magazine lets you come in contact with the most interesting forthcoming or bygone events of the footwear and leatherware sector.

Dati statistici industria calzaturiera in Iran

NEWS fiere/fairs MPEX - leather, footwear and leather goods fair in Tehran november 2014 MPEX, the first international fair of leather, footwear and leathergoods, was held in Tehran last November with the participation of the Iranian industry of this sector which showed a huge potential. Our presence at the event enables us to report of the enormous opportunities that this scenario provides to Italian manufacturers of footwear technologies. The fair hosted 142 exhibitors both Iranians and foreigners in an area of about 6,000 square meters. The most important foreign presence was the Italian one represented by an important group of manufacturers of tanning and footwear machinery. The Vice President of ASSOMAC Gabriella Bocca, who visited the exhibition in both the institutional and the entrepreneur role, has guided a round table with the Director of ICE Tehran which was attended by representatives of all the major companies in the Iranian leather and footwear industry and by some governmental personalities among whom the Undersecretary for Industry, Mrs. Nasrollahi. Foreign exhibitors included also manufacturers from China, Thailand and Turkey and among the visitors - mostly Iranians - there were delegations from Afghanistan, India, Japan and Turkey. A huge attention has been given to this event by the Iranian Ministry of Industry, whose representative during the opening ceremony recalled how it is necessary to make progress in this important sector of the Iranian economy by reporting that Iran - with its population of about 75 million people - is a major producer of footwear.

Shoe industry in Iran - statistics
According to the latest figures, Iran produces between 205 and 210 million pairs / year, this means between 2 and 3 pairs of shoes per person. Updated data of the Iranian Customs confirm that the Iranian footwear production provides the domestic market and is also exported mainly in neighboring countries: Azerbaijan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Saudi Arabia. However, current statistics also show that in recent years has significantly increased imports of Chinese shoes with a constant of 44% annually. In Iran there are about 544 shoe factories with production license issued by the Ministry of Industry. The most important footwear districts are located in Tehran (22% of production), Tabriz in East Azerbaijan (34% of production), Mashhad, in northeastern province Khorasan - Rezavi (about 3% of production), Qom (30% of production) and Yazd (2% of production). The Iranian footwear companies employ approximately 115,000 people of which approximately 62,000 are dedicated to the production of hand - made shoes, while about 10,000 work in small unlicensed workshops and 35,000 in companies producing components for footwear.
The tanning industry in Iran
Iran has a long tradition in the tanning sector that could be further developed with adequate infrastructure to improve the quality of the finished leather. ASSOMAC has always promoted the relations in the Islamic Republic, where Italian technology is a source of pride of every local production facility. There is still much to do - as stated from Gabriella Bocca during the press conference in Tehran - especially to get even closer relationships not only with ASSOMAC but also with all the other associations of the Italian industry. During our visit to the tannery district of Mashhad (Khorasan Region - Rezavi) we noted a great need for “mise à niveau” of tanning production processes and a great sensitivity in setting up production centers like the one with about one hour driving distance from Mashhad’s “Charm-Shar” (“Skin City “) which hosts 18 tanneries and some companies of leather products, especially clothing and accessories.
Finished product
Regarding finished products - leather shoes, accessories and clothing - we can state that an experienced partner like Italy would lead Iranian industry, which is already making great strides, to excellence levels. We really hope to see the MPEX show grow together with a growing foreign participation with Italy playing an important role in this scenario. www.assomes.ir - www.irantanners.com

Assocalzaturifici Conference “The Great Return – Companies, Government and Banks for the Made in Italy in Italy” The latest identikit of the footwear industry comes from the annual meeting of Assocalzaturifici which took place on November 15th, in the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio, Florence. Among the topics treated, an interesting overview of the positive signs, although in their infancy but already clear, of the great “comeback” of the production to Italy. The reshoring phenomenon has been analyzed in a study pursued by the Back-reshoring Research Group of the University Consortium Uni-Club MoRe: in many cases the choice to ‘repatriate’ production, that has involved mainly the high-end companies, was lead by a remarkable factor: the value added that customers recognize within the made in Italy. The competitive factor seems to be both the undeniable quality and timeliness of the Italian short production chain, hence the urge to return to the skillful workforce and to the Italian excellence; that’s why Assocalzaturifici demands institutions to support it and encourage it. According to the research, it is a slowly growing trend among medium-sized enterprises in the footwear and apparel industry: more than 19% of the shifts on a global scale is related to these sectors and Italy is the country to which is regrouped 20% of reshoring, first in the EU before the United Kingdom and Germany. “This conference in Florence – said Cleto Sagripanti, president of Assocalzaturifici – is a starting point for those who work in our industry. We want to start from here to submit concrete legislative proposals for the revival of manufacturing in Italy, putting it back on the political agenda”. “The Jobs Act – he said – seems to give concrete signals to facilitate working relationships and encourage hiring. Even some of the measures included in the Stability Law, show that it has finally taken the right direction to boost competitiveness”. The event also saw the participation of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Giuliano Poletti, the Undersecretary to the Prime Minister, Luca Lotti, the President of the section Leather of Confindustria Firenze, Franco Baccani and important Italian entrepreneurs, including James Ferragamo. www.assocalzaturifici.it

eventi/events

Taking advantage of this thriving market, Epoc Messe Frankfurt, one of the world’s leading trade fair organizers, has planned the launch of a new exhibition in Dubai: the first edition of Leatherworld Middle East will take place from the 4th to the 6th of May 2015 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center and it will be Middle East’s first and only dedicated trade event covering the entire chain of the global leather industry. Organizers are expecting at least 120 exhibitors: upstream exhibitors (tanneries, chemicals and machinery) from the Middle East, Asia and Africa, and downstream exhibitors (finished goods manufacturers) from Europe. One of the main goals of this event is to encourage the growth of profitable relationships across the entire spectrum of leather trade in one of the world’s most business-friendly environments. Global leather brands, tanneries and manufactures will gather under one roof, strengthening deals and agreements and, at the same time, showcasing their own products in front of thousands of buyers and retailers from all over the world. The exhibition space will feature also exclusive products zones, including: “The Shoe Box”, a section entirely dedicated to footwear, “The Trend Zone”, an area where tanneries can display the latest international leather trends, “The Fashion Avenue”, where famous suppliers of fashion leather products showcase their luxury clothes and accessories. Meanwhile, the Leatherworld Middle East Conference will highlight key issues and trends that are shaping the future of the leather industry worldwide. www.leatherworldme.com 210 MODA PELLE dubai news 1 pag.indd 2
