Toastmasters – Daytime Harbord Diggers
HARBORD DIGGERS TOASTMASTERS - DAYTIME
Meetings continue on line via zoom. A small base of 7 to 8 members join with most members preferring to wait for return to face to face meetings. None the less, with this small number, there remains lots of enthusiasm and joviality.
Have started theme meetings again, each 1st meeting of the month.
August > funny hats. September > Mexican. October > 70s flower power. November > Melbourne Cup. To add interest and education, we have invited several experienced speakers to our meetings. Contests: Speech contests on Club level will be held on the 30th September and Area level is to be held on the ……....... Our club will be hosting the Area contest which we are hoping to have face to face.
TWO OF OUR MEMBERS HAVE RECEIVED ACCOLADES WITHIN TOASTMASTERS INTERNATIONAL:
● Don Turton was presented with an Achieved Status of
Select Distinguished Area Director Jazzer Smith. This is a Commemorative Award based on showing courage to achieve and motivate others despite suffering great personal difficulties. Don has cerebral palsy. ● Sally Mollyneux was voted as Area Director of the Year. Our new Vice President Public Relations, Giovanna Simonetti, is in the process of updating all our social media outlets and produced our first newsletter for the year. Toast Masters International has ruled that any photos to be published, need a Photo Release form signed by the members. Hence we were not yet able to include any photos in this report We are surviving on zoom but looking forward to using the club room again. Stay safe.
