Sono promotori del freestyle e al contempo una crew: sono i Pirates Alta Badia. Il loro nome circola sull’altipiano dolomitico da ormai 15 anni. In occasione di un sopralluogo allo Snowpark Alta Badia sono stati realizzati dei video per mostrare i volti di chi si cela dietro a questo nome. Scopri tutto leggendo l’articolo. “Il gruppo è nato già 15 anni fa, quando eravamo dei ragazzini ed eravamo tutti pazzi a saltare fuori pista! Poi ci siamo persi un po‘ di vista per un po’ di tempo, finché qualche anno fa ho conosciuto Altin e abbiamo preso la cosa sul serio”, spiega Lukas Valentini che, insieme al suo amico Altin Alla, ha guidato il destino della crew dei Pirates, plasmando la scena del freestyle di oggi. Nel frattempo, la crew e il suo logo sono onnipresenti allo Snowpark Alta Badia: come si conviene a dei pirati, il teschio dei pirati fa mostra di sé al portale di ingresso rosso del park e su alcune seggiole della seggiovia Ciampai. I membri della crew ufficiali sono circa 15 e portano il logo sulle loro giacche, trascorrendo quasi tutte le loro giornate invernali allo snowpark e facendo shredding nelle varie line. Altin e Lux sono in montagna per tutto l’inverno, cambiando ogni tanto di ruolo, passando dalla giacca dei pirates a un’altra uniforme: “Siamo entrambi maestri di snowboard e ci piace molto insegnare allo snowpark. Negli ultimi due anni, da quando il nostro logo è esposto all’esterno della scuola di sci, la domanda per lezioni di freestyle è cresciuta sempre di più”. Quanto il loro progetto abbia subito influenzato le nuove generazioni, lo si vede anche dalla presenza di giovanissimi membri nella crew dei Pirates. Mattia Mersa, il più piccolo del gruppo, ha appena 14 anni ed è quasi tutti i giorni allo Snowpark Alta Badia insieme al fratello maggiore, Elia Mersa, e all’amico Felix Schrott. “Sono dei bravi ragazzi pieni di passione che praticano di continuo lo sport sempre sulla neve e, da quello che ho sentito, vanno anche bene a scuola!”, aggiunge ridendo Altin. Il futuro del freestyle altoatesino, in questo modo, è assicurato. Inoltre, sembra proprio che a Lux e Altin non manchino le idee e l’energia per continuare! “Abbiamo grandi progetti per il futuro!”, dice sorridendo Lux con tono di scherno, senza voler far trapelare nulla. “Finché il fisico regge, continueremo a fare salti, quando non reggerà più, faremo tutto da seduti e saremo sempre i capi dei Pirates, ovviamente!”, conclude scherzando Altin. Sie sind Förderer des Freestyle und Crew zugleich - die Pirates Alta Badia. Seit nunmehr 15 Jahren kreist der Name um das Hochplateau in den Dolomiten. Die Gesichter und Hintergründe zu diesem Namen erhaltet ihr hier in diesem Artikel und in den Videos, die vor kurzem bei einem Lokalaugenschein im Snowpark Alta Badia entstanden sind. „Vor 15 Jahren haben wir die Crew gegründet als wir noch sehr jung waren und keine Gelegenheit ausgelassen haben uns abseits der Piste rumzuspringen! Danach verloren wir für kurze Zeit den Kontakt zueinander. Einige Jahre später habe ich dann Altin kennengelernt und wir haben das Ganze neu aufgerollt“, erklärt Lukas Valentini, der gemeinsam mit seinem Freund Altin Alla das Schicksal der Pirates-Crew bestimmt hat und die lokale Freestyle-Szene von heute entscheidend prägt. Mittlerweile ist die Crew und ihr Logo omnipräsent im Snowpark Alta Badia, standesgemäß für Piraten, prangert der Totenkopf am roten ParkEingangsportal sowie von den Container-Wänden in der Chill-Area des Parks. Die rund 15 offiziellen Crew-Member tragen das Logo auch auf ihren Jacken, wenn sie die Lines des Snowparks beinahe täglich im Winter shredden. Altin und Lux verbringen den ganzen Winter hier am Berg. Zwischenzeitlich tauschen sie ihre Pirates-Jacken gegen eine andere Uniform und wechseln in eine andere Rolle. „Wir sind beide auch als Snowboard-Lehrer tätig und wir nutzen den Park hier auch für den Unterricht. Die Nachfrage nach Freestyle-Lektionen ist auch in den letzten beiden Jahren, seitdem wir unser Crew-Logo an der Außenwand der Skischule angebracht haben, stetig gewachsen!“, schildert Altin stolz. Welchen Einfluss sie auf die nächste Generation bereits hatten, sieht man auch anhand der jungen Crew-Member der Pirates. Mattia Mersa, der Jüngste der Crew, ist gerade mal 14 Jahre alt und gemeinsam mit seinem Bruder, Elia Mersa, und ihrem Freund Felix Schrott sind sie im Winter täglich im Snowpark Alta Badia, um an ihren Tricks und an der angestrebten Profi-Karriere zu arbeiten. „Die Jungs sind wirklich sehr ambitioniert und sind fleißig am Trainieren, und was wir so hören, sind sie auch gut in der Schule! Soweit passt also alles“, scherzt Altin. Die Zukunft für den Südtiroler Freestyle ist somit gesichert und an Ideen und Energie mangelt es Lux und Altin auch weiterhin nicht! „Die Pläne für die Zukunft sind groß!“, lacht Lux schelmisch, ohne bereits zu viel verraten zu wollen. „Solange wir können, werden wir uns auch hier noch über die Kicker werfen! Und sollten wir mal zu alt dafür sein, machen wir alles vom Sessel aus und bleiben weiterhin die Chefs der Pirates!“, fügt Altin noch hinzu. Mehr Informationen rund um den Pirates Park aka. They are ambassadors of freestyle and a crew at the same time the Pirates Alta Badia. It’s been already 15 years since their name started circling the high plateau of the Dolomites. And make sure to check out the video clips from the last visit at Snowpark Alta Badia. “15 years ago, we founded the crew when we were still very young and seized every opportunity to shred off-piste! Then we’ve lost track of each other for some time. Couple of years later I met Altin and we relaunched the whole thing”, Lukas Valentini recalls. Together with his friend Altin Alla, he has determined the Pirate-crew’s fate and has also crucially coined the local freestyle-scene until today. By now, the crew and their logo are omnipresent at Snowpark Alta Badia. As is right and proper for Pirates, the skull is flaunted on the red entrance portal as well as on the container walls at the park’s chill area. About 15 official crew-members are bemedaled with the logo on their jackets when they shred the park almost daily in winter. Altin and Lux spend the whole winter up on the mountain. In between, they change their Pirates jackets for a different uniform and switch into different roles. “Both of us are also working as snowboard-teachers and we use the park for the lessons as well. The demand for freestyle-lessons has also grown steadily since we’ve put our logo on the wall of the ski school!”, Altin proudly explains. Looking at the young crew-members of the Pirates, it’s easy to see how big of an influence they’ve already had on the next generation. Mattia Mersa is 14 years old and the youngest of the crew. Together with his brother Elia Mersa and their buddy Felix Schrott, they roam Snowpark Alta Badia daily to work on their shred skills and on their ultimate goal - turn pro. “The boys are super ambitious and practice a lot. And as far as we’re concerned they’re doing fine in school as well! So, everything’s cool”, Altin jokes. Hence the freestyle future of South Tyrol is secured and Altin and Lux are overflowing with ideas and energy! “The plans for the future are grand!”, Lux laughs impishly not wanting to give away any details. “As long as we can, we will still send it over those kickers! And if we ever get too old for that, we still remain the Captains of the Pirates!”, Altin adds.
