TAXIO ARDANAZ (Pamplona, 1978) http://www.taxioardanaz.com
Taxio Ardanaz works around the plastic manifestations generated in certain historical processes of conflict to develop a research based mainly on painting and its installation component. BSC in Fine Arts by the University of the Basque Country, he has complemented his education with artists and curators such as Itziar Okariz, Esther Ferrer, Andrés Duque, Julie Mehretu, Miroslaw Balka and Peio Aguirre. Over the past few years he has been awarded different residency fellowships at Italy (Royal Academy of Spain in Rome), Iraqi Kurdistan (Amna Suraka), Cuba (Artist x Artist), Austria (Kunsthaus Bregenz), Mexico (Oficina de Arte). He has exhibited individually in Madrid: Tabacalera Promoción del Arte (2017); Bilbao: Carreras Múgica Gallery (2017), Rekalde Gallery (2014); La Habana: Artist x Artist (2016); Mexico City: Ateneo Español de México (2012) and Pamplona: El Sario, UPNA (2021). Among the many group exhibits in which he has participated, it is worth highlighting his contribution to “Complexo Colosso” CIAJG (2021) Guimaraes, Portugal.
Taxio Ardanaz travaille autour des manifestations plastiques générées dans certains processus historiques de conflit pour développer une enquête basée fondamentalement sur la peinture et sa composante d’installation. Diplômé des Beaux-Arts de l’Université du Pays Basque, il a élargi sa formation auprès d’artistes et commissaires tels que Itziar Okariz, Esther Ferrer, Andrés Duque, Julie Mehretu, Miroslaw Balka ou Peio Aguirre. Ces dernières années, il a effectué des résidences en Italie (Académie royale d’Espagne à Rome), au Kurdistan irakien (Amna Suraka), à Cuba (Artist x Artist), en Autriche (Kunsthaus Bregenz) et au Mexique (Art Office). Il a exposé individuellement à Madrid : Tabacalera Art Promotion (2017), Bilbao : Carreras Múgica Gallery (2017), Sala Rekalde (2014) ; La Havane : Artiste x Artiste (2016) ; Mexico : Athénée espagnol du Mexique (2012) et Pampelune : El Sario, UPNA (2021). Entre autres expositions collectives, sa participation se démarque au « Complexo Colosso » CIAJG (2021) Guimaraes, Portugal.
