Banksy, a British artist and writer whose identity is still unknown, is considered one of the leading exponents of contemporary street art. His works are often laced with satire and deal with universal subjects such as politics, culture, and ethics.
The exhibition is divided into different themes: The theme of rebellion The theme of war “games” The theme of consumerism
The shroud of mystery that, by choice and out of necessity, is perpetuated when we talk about Bansky has turned him into an absolute legend of our day and age. His visual protest engages with a vast and heterogeneous public and has made him one of the best loved artists among the younger generations. The exhibition is not authorized by the artist, like all those that have been devoted to his work until now. Banksy continues to defend his anonymity and independence from the art system! “A Visual Protest. The Art of Banksy”, showcasing about 80 works including paintings and prints by the British artist, accompanied by objects, photographs, and videos, about 60 album and CD covers, which the artist himself designed, and about forty pieces of memorabilia (lithographs, stickers, prints, magazines, fanzines, promotional flyers), that retrospectively describe the work and thinking of Banksy. A path that is in its own way academic and unusual, but coherent with the mission of a museum like MUDEC, i.e. that of providing all types of audiences with a key to the interpretation (and appreciation) of the cultures of the world and the major themes of our contemporary age by way of the visual, performative, and sound arts.

“Surrogati. Un amore ideale” An exhibition explores the notions of familal, romantic and sexual LoVe Fondazione Prada presents “Surrogati. Un amore ideale” (Surrogate. A Love Ideal), an exhibition curated by Melissa Harris, from 21 February to 22 July 2019 at the Osservatorio venue in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Milan. Comprising a selection of 42 photographic works by Jamie Diamond (Brooklyn, USA, 1983) and Elena Dorfman (Boston, USA, 1965), the project explores the notions of familial, romantic and sexual love. Both artists focus on a specific and unconventional aspect of this universal theme: the emotional link between a man or a woman and a synthetic representation of a human. As explained by Melissa Harris, “together, Diamond’s and Dorfman’s work presented in ‘Surrogati’ vividly and nonjudgmentally documents the interactions of humans with their lifelike, inanimate companions.”

April – May 2019 | 23
WONDER In her series “Forever Mothers” (2012-2018) and “Nine Months of Reborning” (2014), Jamie Diamond documented the life of an outsider art making community called the Reborners, a group of self-taught female artists who hand-make, collect and interact with hyper-realistic dolls that fulfill a desire for motherhood. In her other exhibited project titled “I Promise to be a Good Mother” (2007-2012), Diamond played the role of a perfect mother, dressing up in her own mother’s clothes and interacting with Annabelle, a reborn doll. Inspired by and named after a diary she kept as a girl, the project evolved into an exploration of the complexity of social stereotypes and cultural conventions that surround and shape the relationship between mother and child. “Still Lovers” (2001-04), a series of photographs that brought Elena Dorfman international acclaim, focuses on the domestic lives of men and women who devote themselves to lifesize, anatomically realistic sex dolls. Her photographs explore the emotional ties between humans and perfectly formed synthetic women, forcing us to evaluate our own notions of love and the value of an object that has the power to replace a human being. The artist’s interest was not to exploit the deviancy of these sexual surrogates, but rather to reveal the fascinating world of intimacy between flesh and silicone. Both photographers portrayed these lifelike surrogates as desired, fetishized, and idealized beings, “living” as such with their flesh and blood mothers and partners, and sometimes with their immediate families as well. As stated by Melissa Harris, “by showing these vignettes of traditional domesticity, love, and/or eroticism, Dorfman’s and Diamond’s representations take on an unexpected poignancy.”

WONDER The Museo d’arte in Mendrisio (Canton Ticino, Switzerland) presents an anthological exhibition dedicated to PIERO GUCCIONE (1935-2018), one of the greatest Italian artists of the twentieth century, active until last year, famous for its magnificent seascape works. A journey into the sea through about 60 works - including oils and pastels - whose theme is the sea and the arid nature of the extreme strip of eastern Sicily from the early Seventies up to the 2012. The selection of the works is curated by Simone Soldini, director of the Museo d’arte in Mendrisio, and the Piero Guccione Archive. Today in the world there is not an artist who can give us the dimension of light and the relationship between the blue, the sea and the sky as Piero Guccione painted it. Born in 1935 in Scicli, for more than forty years, every morning, Guccione looked at the sea trying to catch the vibrations, the variations, not for simple descriptivism, but to find a soul.
“I am attracted by the absolute immobility of the sea, which however is constantly moving.” This is the great challenge that Guccione faced daily looking at the sea from the extreme edge of his island, as the last man at the end of the earth, with his desire to capture something that is constantly moving, to translate it into something that is fixed.

I was amazed by the striking colors, most of all the fabulous pink in the “Linia” collages. “In her photomontage of magnets in the city of Bucharest Geta reminds people of their own willpower and determination to act. Sports lovers can visit the Museum of San Siro in Milan or Enzo Ferrari Museum in Maranello. Finally, for those who just want to relax themselves can choose the thermal spas of Milan and Salsomaggiore, or Salsomaggiore Golf Club with its 18 holes. Fidenza Village offers a wide range of services to its guests: 8 restaurants that are the expression of Italian culinary excellence, including the new partnership with Ristorante e Caffè Savini, more than 120 boutiques opened 7 days a week all year around where it is possible to find some of the most famous Italian fashion brands and a selection of international brands. For this the Village confirms itself as one of the most important luxury shopping tourism destination in Italy. The Village has in its DNA the promotion of art in all its forms and allow its guests to live an immersive artistic experience at 360°. Fidenza Village has recently renewed - for the third consecutive year - the partnership with miart (international fair of modern and contemporary art): until the end of summer a series of installations created by Camilla Falsini - one of the most important Italian illustrators- will celebrate love in Milan and Fidenza Village. It will be an explosion of colors, symbols and characters that for over three months will reinvent the concept of LOVE in different spaces from Milan to Emilia, from the metro in Milan to the highest tower of Fidenza Village to allow guests to live a unique and unrepeatable experience. “Nowadays the word love will seem exceeded – says Camilla Falsini – Often we have the impression that we are ashamed to use the word love. That’s why I think using art to bring a strong message like LOVE is a brave choice”. In addition to the LOVE project, Fidenza Village once again will support the “Generations” prize and the “miart educational” project, which provides free guided tours in the fair offered by the Village. LOVE will be a capsule collection of designer silk scarves. The colorful characters of Camilla Falsini will be reproduced on these scarves as the expression of different cultures and at the same time of values such as love for others, nature, art and beauty. Since its foundation in 1956, Fragiacomo has been synonymous with contemporary luxury. The strong personality of the Fragiacomo woman and man lead the DNA of the brand into a new contemporary dimension, in which the contamination between 60 years of knowhow and modern culture is the essence. To Fragiacomo, heritage never equates to constriction. It represents, instead, a value to be cherished, which contributes to the creation of perfection. The deeply rooted tradition of style and coherence of the brand lays the foundation for a wonderful story of luxury Made in Italy. Fragiacomo presents seasonal shoes, bags and accessories collections as well as special Capsule Collections with new concepts and new interpretation of modern feminine style. All pieces are 100% hand made in Italy by the best artisans with great attention to details. In 2018 a new chapter for Fragiacomo has begun since Alessio Spinelli was appointed as a Creative Director of the brand. His bold aesthetics join the decisive elegance and continuous evolution of a brand that has been able to unite the craftsmanship and its stylistic codes in iconic timeless pieces. “Alessio has immediately felt the DNA of Fragiacomo, stating the guidelines and being able to interpret without distorting a physiological evolution of the brand giving it back that vanguard that has always characterized the maison from a stylistic point of view” - says the CEO of Fragiacomo Federico Pozzi Chiesa. Alessio Spinelli that has a great expertise in shoes design, that worked with big fashion brands and also won “Who is on Next” contest by Vogue in 2011 gave a fresh start to Fragiacomo with the first collection created by him for the SS19 season. Vibrant colors, reinterpreted iconic floral application, elegance and irony define the new SS19 Women’s Collection.
This collection is created for women that like to play with their style and choose shoes as a main accent and a statement piece of their look. These shoes have a strong character but at the same time are easy to match with different outfits - from relaxed casual looks to the evening sets for the most sophisticated events. In the new course particular importance will also be reserved to the bag: the collection will include different models of bags that, reviewed in the color palette and in the appeal, with a softly glam-rock tone, recall and enhance the great classics of the Fragiacomo tradition, from the Icon to the new styles. In particular the Icon Bag is the star of Fragiacomo collections. The most coveted handbag, personalized in every single detail, features reverse almond handles and is embellished with an 18kt gold logo crafted by a Milanese goldsmith for the crocodile limited edition. Its leather versions are offered in bright and trendy colours. The full collection is available on our e-commerce and at FRAGIACOMO boutique in Via Turati 8, Milan.

Things to know about the Milan Roastery
Tommaso Mandrisi Concierge at Palazzo Matteotti
Milan is the third Starbucks Reserve Roastery in the world (the Seattle Roastery opened in 2014, and Shanghai in 2017) but the first where customers can move all the way around the bright green Scolari roaster (made in Italy, by the way) and watch every step of the coffee roasting process from bean to cup
The epicenter of the new Roastery is a 22-foot, first-of-itskind bronze roasting cask that periodically unfolds and rotates, like a blooming flower, to give customers a rare glimpse of the de-gassing phase of the coffee bean roasting process
While the Seattle and Shanghai Roasteries used rich, dark tones, the Milan Roastery is an explosion of color, including marble in jewel tones and a roaster and clackerboard display in a distinctive, vibrant green inspired by the coffee card for Starbucks Reserve Ethiopia Kayan Mountain Farm.
The entrance wall of the Roastery features a floorto-ceiling, engraved brass story of Starbucks. Guests can view the wall as it is or, with the help of their mobile device, can experience the wall in augmented reality (AR), giving them access to even more multimedia artifacts about the company’s history and the art and science of coffee.
In a nod to the marble countertops featured in espresso bars across Milan, all of the bars in the Roastery are marble and warm to the touch, thanks to radiant heat inside. They were carved from the same 30-ton block of Calacatta Macchia Vecchia marble from a Tuscan quarry.
The Roastery’s stunning mosaiced marble floor is handcrafted in the traditional Palladianan style, while its geometric ceiling was designed and engineered digitally, creating a floor-to-ceiling blend of history and future.

YOGA TIME Looking for reasons to try yoga? From increased strength to flexibility to heart health, we have a lot of benefits to rolling out ! Improved flexibility is one of the first and most obvious benefits of yoga. During your first class, you probably won’t be able to touch your toes, never mind do a backbend. But if you stick with it, you’ll notice a gradual loosening, and eventually, seemingly impossible poses will become possible.
April – May 2019 | 61
BEAUTY&WELLNESS
Makes you happier Feeling sad? Sit in Lotus. Better yet, rise up into a backbend or soar royally into King Dancer Pose. While it’s not as simple as that, one study found that a consistent yoga practice improved depression and led to a significant increase in serotonin levels and a decrease in the levels of monoamine oxidase (an enzyme that breaks down neurotransmitters) and cortisol. At the University of Wisconsin, Richard Davidson, Ph.D., found that the left prefrontal cortex showed heightened activity in meditators, a finding that has been correlated with greater levels of happiness and better immune function.
Helps you focus Another important component of yoga is focusing on the present. Studies have found that regular yoga practice improves coordination, reaction time, memory, and even IQ scores. People who practice Transcendental Meditation demonstrate the ability to solve problems and acquire and recall information better— probably because they’re less distracted by their thoughts, which can play over and over like an endless tape loop.
Helps you sleep deeper Stimulation is good, but too much of it taxes the nervous system. Yoga can provide relief from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Restorative asana, yoga nidra (a form of guided relaxation), Savasana, pranayama, and meditation encourage pratyahara, a turning inward of the senses, which provides downtime for the nervous system. Another by-product of a regular yoga practice, studies suggest, is better sleep—which means you’ll be less tired and stressed and less likely to have accidents.

EUGENOMICS
THE NEW COSMECEUTICALS GENERATION
Eugenomics is an innovative cosmeceutical line which encompasses targeted treatments to counteract the signs of age Eugenomics’ philosophy is inspired by the principles of regenerative and antiaging medicine Infact, a large number of men and women, as early as they get close to their thirtieth birthday start to be afraid of aging. Scientific research has refined the knowledge of skin physiology and aging processes leading to the discovery of innovative skin treatments and new active molecules. The general skin’s condition is influenced by many factors: the biological age does not always correspond to the chronological age and often still rather young subjects show skin problems: wrinkles, dark spots, uneven color, loss of tone and premature aging. Also, hormonal changes, wrong diet, insufficient water intake, lack of rest, sedentary lifestyle, stress and environmental aggressions contribute to early aging: the skin is the organ which first shows the age signs.

Beauty as a result of a general state of health The Eugenomics products line comes out from dermatological research aimed at protecting the skin, while easing the path to prevent and reduce damages induced by aging, oxidative and environmental stress. Eugenomics’ mission is to improve skin resilience with active molecules able to restore optimal skin functions. A skin which is first protected, then oxygenated, nourished and hydrated, is a healthy skin capable of defending itself from external aggressions and consequently from premature aging. Eugenomics invests in the research of cutting-edge molecules and new synergies for skin’s health in order to better respond to the needs of efficacy-oriented consumers with visible and lasting results. Resilience: the concept In psychology: ability to face and overcome difficulties and traumatic events. In mechanical engineering: feature of a material to be shockproof without breaking nor deforming. In biology: cell’s ability to “repair itself” after a damage. When applied to the cosmetic industry, skin resilience is the individual’s capability to defend him/herself from dermal damage and to activate the natural processes of “self-repair”. Improve skin resilience through innovative formulations The domiciliary use of Eugenomics new generations cosmeceuticals is a support to the medical treatments helping to consolidate and maintain the results over time.

SALONE DEL MOBILE 2019 EDITION MILANO AT THE CENTRE OF THE CREATIVE WORLD!
68 | April – May 2019
PARTICIPATION
Launched in Milan in 1961 as a vehicle for promoting Italian exports of furnishing and accessories, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile is the global benchmark event for the furnishing and design sector. The Salone is held in Milan in April every year, along with the biennial Euroluce exhibition in odd years and EuroCucina and the International Bathroom Exhibition in even years, and in tandem with the annual International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition and Workplace 3.0. These events are flanked by FTK (Technology For the Kitchen), EuroCucina’s collateral event and S.Project, the exhibition devoted to design products and decorative and technical furnishing solutions. Since 1998, the trade fair has been rounded off by SaloneSatellite, the launchpad for young designers and a point of reference for companies on the look out for new talent.
The press conference for the 58th edition of the Salone del Mobile at the Triennale di Milano, was the harbinger of much important news. From the addition of a new term to the Manifesto launched last year to new exhibition formats at Workplace3.0 and S.Project, two great installations dedicated to Leonardo in the city and at the fairgrounds and a three-year collaboration with the Teatro alla Scala Foundation.

PARTICIPATION Under the umbrella of the Salone del Mobile Milano, these events cover a net area of almost 210,000 square metres overall at the Rho Fiera Milano fairgrounds, showcasing more than 2,300 of the most dynamic and creative companies on the global market each year. Over 370,000 professional visitors attend the fair each year, just under 70% of them from 188 other countries, along with more than 5,000 national and international journalists and around 27,500 members of the public at the weekend, making the Salone del Mobile Milano the unmissable sectorwide appointment. Not to mention the collateral events that take place alongside it, invariably curated by leading international artists and designers, because the Salone is not just synonymous with business but also with culture. This is the Salone, now in its 58th edition: an international platform with the “privilege of actuality” that shines a light on the state of the art of design. Every year, for years.

BRERA DESIGN DISTRICT “DESIGN YOUR LIFE”
In these years Brera Design District has been establishing its role as first and most important district promoting design in Italy, gaining a precise identity and interacting with brands and professionals present in the territory as well as investors, sponsors and temporary exhibitors. The theme. If we were to adopt a design approach in our day- to- day choices, in our everyday life, we would probably be happier and less stressed. Suffice it to consider an error contained in a project, as an element recognized as fundamental in the research process that helps bring to perfection. On the contrary, an error in every day life is seen as a catastrophe, not an element to learn from, but an obstacle, an episode to be erased. Perhaps the lives of all the inhabitants of the planet are connected to each other by their mistakes. Just think of what we have (or have not) done for environmental sustainability. Today we pay the consequences of mistakes made in the past, which are still repeated nowadays. “Design your life” is a call to design our own life. We ask designers to be more committed to the sustainable impact of their work. We ask everyone to behave as daring designers, because everyone’s thoughts and contributions are now essential.

With 20 projects, 60 designers and 50 companies, Tortona Rocks will make us think on how designing a new awareness actually involves knowing how to decode the era of great transformation that we are living, tracing new sustainable lifestyles. Sustainability is a topic that will be used to propose solutions related to the technological vision as well as the green mobility and robotics. For this reason, Hyundai organized “Style Set Free”, presenting the car of the future and offering different possibilities concerning mobility in the independent drive and the electric car interior design; still focusing in the automotive industry, Peugeot Design Labpresents the exhibition “#Unboringthefuture” approaching once again the electrification with an animation created especially for this event.

historical moment, the explosion of an unparalleled phenomenon: the boom of the Made in Italy in the world. “Italians are coming!” was the headline of Vogue America in 1976. It was the beginning of an era: the United States turned into an extremely fertile land capable not only of welcoming great Italian creative minds, but also of giving the recognition that these artists deserved. Bob Krieger was the author of three covers for the Time and a correspondent for the New York Times Magazine. The artist was one of the protagonists of this incredible period of time that marked an era in the photography scene and in fashion worldwide. The colours, the geometries, the lines and the Italian opulence immortalized by Bob Krieger are the same elements that are found in the exhibition design project created by the famous Italian architect Carlo Colombo. The architect has created an exhibition itinerary of rigorous elegance, where the play of light gives an idea of volumes to the timeless images of the exhibition by creating a sort of theatrical scenography. “The exhibition was designed as a journey of emotions and it will be enhanced by objects of design that stand out for their elegant 86 | April – May 2019

“The collaboration with Bob Krieger combines fashion and design, two of the highest expressions of the Made in Italy. A universal language that unites us in the sign of beauty and aesthetic sense “. The exhibition will be animated by events and activities: in collaboration with Yamaha Music, the exhibition will host the performances of the Yamaha Silent Experience, with an exclusive program in which internationally renowned artists will perform in piano concerts accessible through the technology of “Silent WifiConcert”. An Exclusive Restaurant in the Old Liberty Railway Station Bullona history Located in Via Piero della Francesca, along the railway line connecting the Cadorna and Bovisa stations, the old Bullona railway station is one of the most iconic industrial structures in the Sempione district. After it was closed down in 2003, it was landmarked, and refurbishment and repurposing of the structure - now in private hands - is still underway. The FNM Bullona station was built in 1929 along the urban stretch of the Ferrovie Nord Milano, which still today connects the Cadorna station with the Bovisa industrial district. The structure, together with the Porta Genova railway station, is one of last remaining examples of early 20th-century railway architecture in Milan. In particular, the old Bullona station has original formal features inspired by the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles, and it is not lacking in pre-Rationalist suggestions. Still today, the building complex is made up of two main structures: a central one straddling the train tracks, which served the function of entrance and ticket office, and a lateral one used as waiting area and staff quarters. Now the station has been completely renovated and trasformed into an exclusive restaurant From the exterior, it is still possible to see some vintage stucco decorations, such as the emblem and the words “Ferrovie Nord Milano.”

Fishion
the fishbar that explores a whole new way to interpret seafood Dynamism: this is the word that best describes Fishion. A true Fishbar whose concept fully embraces respect for base ingredients that arrive directly from one of the oldest and most historic fish markets in Milan: Pescheria Pedol. A “fishbar” that tells its story through new cooking techniques and preparations, one in particular: the Pink Himalayan salt block.
Fishion: where tradition and quality meet innovation There are two menus that co-exist at Fishion: The first is composed of traditional Italian recipes that are revisited and enhanced by fresh seafood sourced from the historic fish market Pescheria Pedol that will mark its 90th birthday this year. This menu proposes dishes like Gragnano Spaghettone with red Mazara shrimp, risotto made with Riserva San Massimo rice and red Sicilian tuna, and octopus braised in Moscato. The second is all about innovation, a dynamic, effervescent and interactive menu, where Fishion’s sprawling white marble counter is the protagonist. Here, cocktails, glasses of wine and bubbles are paired with an array of casual dishes, like seafood tapas, fish tartare, and carpaccio; while fish like Red Sicilian Tuna, Salmon, Mazara del Vallo shrimp, Amberjack and Seabass (selected exclusively for Fishion by Pescheria Pedol) are all prepared in front of the client on pink Himalayan salt blocks.

Seafood “Patisserie” & Oyster World Tour The most exciting novelty on tap at the Fish Bar is its Seafood Patisserie. True patisserie concocted with ingredients sourced from the sea. A dizzying selection of creations made with only the freshest seafood, conceptualized to pay homage to the art of French and Italian pastrymaking which is revisited with seafood and accompanied by cocktails or glasses of wine served by a passionate and experience bartending team. A patisserie - from the ocean - that surprises and begs to be center stage in an Aperitif that veers away from tradition. Another option for an aperitif at Fishion is the Oyster World Tour, a jaunt around the world with foams inspired by the globe’s most famous cocktails that are paired with oysters. A whole new approach to happy hour.
The atmosphere Marble, tropicalized steel and rope. These are three decor elements that Fishion draws on. The large counter at the center of the room is the pulsing heart of Fishion, the stage where it all takes place. Here marinades take form, fish is smoked and dishes are prepared in a true spectacle that wholly engages the client.

THE FLOWER BISTROT
A charming Fusion of Flowers and Taste Potafiori is a “flower bistro”, and it comes from the vision of singing florist Rosalba Piccinni, who has developed, over the years, her passion in welcoming people, by turning the time needed to prepare a flower bouquet into a very relaxing moment for enjoying good music along with good food. Potafiori is a new way of spending time together. It is a daily open flower shop, equipped with a kitchen, and it pleasantly surrounds you with a very friendly atmosphere. In the morning, you can be served breakfast, while appreciating the preparation of the fresh flowers of the day; later you can have lunch and learn how to arrange seasonal flowers with cords, strings and barks; in the evening you can enjoy some appetizers with a glass of good wine or have dinner listening to Rosalba’s solo voice, which, through its pleasing musicality, will make you wander to distant places. Rosalba’s eclectic personality can be perceived all around the place, even in the name “POTAFIORI” which refers to her regional dialect: “Yes, I’m from Bergamo and I love playing with words. Pot, pota, potare, so many languages with so many different meanings. The choice is yours!” The charming fusion of flowers and taste is granted by Chef Giorgio Bresciani’s cuisine, which consists of simple but unique creations. Rosalba’s style is polished and her concept is focused on conviviality: “Flowers and music are my life. I’m a singing florist, I like to be surrounded by flowers, to write serenades and then I love to share these amazing moments with people in the most plain and cheerful way. I’ve always been attracted by the idea of an extended family, a house with no doors, a place where we can find our sense of self”.
