Podcast Album: Learning To Walk Before You Can Run
Track 4 – Learning To Run Stage 1 Brought To You By: MyWeightLossDream.co.uk
Welcome to the fourth track in our learning to walk before you can run series of podcasts and thanks for downloading me. Well I don’t mean me, I mean the podcast but I am sure you know what I mean! I hope you don’t mind but we are going to jump straight in with this podcast and to get you moving. Chapter 1 – The Long Road To Running Begins Welcome to the running chapter. Now you have taken on walking and won the challenge it is time to increase the effort and start jogging. Well running sounds more athletic doesn’t it – so why not just call it running? I originally discovered to run thanks to a running guide on the NHS website in the UK. But I found that it was great for the first few bursts of running, but overall it was very difficult to follow if you were out of breath easily or if you were clinically obese – so I changed it a lot! And this below is what you have now!!!! Its split into stages and in this Podcast we will be doing stage 1, and then when you have completed stage 1 and you are happy with what you did, then simply move onto to stage 2. Then carry this on until you are at the end of the stages. Plus by the end of the stages you’ll be able to run and doesn’t that sound fantastic?
Chapter 2 – Introduction To Stage 1 So here we are stage 1 is entering our lives and its time to begin with a nice and gentle routine. Begin with a 1200m brisk walk, then alternate 90 seconds of running with 60 seconds of brisk walking for 1000m. Then finish your regime with 1200m of brisk walking. Simple isn’t it? Just to think you are only doing 90 minutes at a time, which to begin with may feel like a lot, but you’ll soon be able to manage 10 minutes, 20 minutes or even an hour straight. Chapter 3 – Stage 1 Running Diary But I am sure you want to know how I got on. Well it was a lot easier than I thought it would be and you can read from my diary below: First run = 8th June 2015 = 3750m = 42 minutes Now it feels weird starting at the beginning with stage 1, simply because before I had my daughter I was already a few stages ahead, meaning that this never feels like much effort. But I wanted to start at the beginning and this is me starting from scratch. For this stage it is about completing 3.4 kilometres and getting past the first two miles. I end up doing 3.75km just because I had misjudged the distance from my house up and down the country lanes.
We do an early morning walk come run and Kyle looks rather out of it and he has that Kevin & Perry morning look going on. Apart from the puppy “J walking we have a lovely time and he sleeps all day on the floor to get over it! I recommend that you have a good pedometer to complete your running with. That way you can measure your distance and to see how your time is progressing and of course if you are in it for weight loss, then you can also measure your calories.
