Podcast Album: Learning To Walk Before You Can Run
Track 5 – Learning To Run Stage 2 Brought To You By: MyWeightLossDream.co.uk
Welcome to the fifth track in our learning to walk before you can run series of podcasts and thanks for downloading me. Well I don’t mean me, I mean the podcast but I am sure you know what I mean! I hope you don’t mind but we are going to jump straight in with this podcast and to get you moving. Chapter 1 – Introduction To Stage 2 If you have passed stage 1 then you are here and listening to stage 2 and ready to get involved. Give yourself a pat on the back and congratulate yourself for passing the first stage. Just think by the time you pass all my podcasts you will have enough stamina to start training for a half marathon and doesn’t that sound brilliant? I want to do one myself, but because I am also trying for a baby it might not happen for a couple of years. You are probably sick of me going on and you probably just want to know what stage 2 is about so here is the challenge: Stage 2 Begin with a 800m brisk walk, then alternate 2 minutes of running with 60 seconds of brisk walking for 1600m. Then finish your regime with 800m of brisk walking.
Chapter 2 – Stage 2 Running Diary But I am sure you want to know how I got on. Well it was a lot easier than I thought it would be and you can read from my diary below: Second run = 8th June 2015 = 3500m = 36 minutes I have decided to jump straight into stage 2 because I feel like I am fitter than stage 1 and don’t feel like hanging around. However if you are not feeling that fit and it really tires you out, then stay at stage 1 for as long as you like! The idea here is that you complete two miles. Half a mile walk, one mile mixture of walking and running then back with half a mile for your cool down. With the running and walking together the aim is to get you doing more running than walking, so that you can gradually build up your fitness. Third run = 9th June 2015 = 3500m = 36 minutes This is my second go at stage 2 and I am finding this harder than I thought – the reason for this? Because of how many hills are in our local area, my running 2 minutes stage always seems to be uphill. I have never been good at going uphill and this is rather harsh. When it comes to me doing the walk after the run I am incredibly out of breath. Along with my puppy panting we look like a terrible unfit pairing. Fourth run = 10th June 2015 = 3500m = 35 minutes
I just wanted to do this one more time before I moved onto stage 3. It is hard work, it’s hot and I rather like the balance of 2 minutes of running followed by 1 minute of walking. My only complaint with this system I have built, is that I get bored waiting to start running and waiting 800m seems such a long time. However on the way home it gives me chance to get my breathing back to normal. You would think I was obese with the state I am in Thanks for listening to track 5 and thanks very much for your support.
