Podcast Album: Learning To Walk Before You Can Run

Track 9 – Learning To Run Stage 6 Brought To You By: MyWeightLossDream.co.uk

Welcome to the ninth track in our learning to walk before you can run series of podcasts and thanks for downloading me. Well I don’t mean me, I mean the podcast but I am sure you know what I mean! I hope you don’t mind but we are going to jump straight in with this podcast and to get you moving. Chapter 1 – Introduction To Stage 6 Stage 6 is a personal favourite of mine. It is all about getting started on a 50% split between walking and running. In the later stages we will use this option again to help up build your fitness and then because it gives you equal time to get your breath back you’ll find it rather easy to recover. This is especially good if you have a high blood pressure because when you do it can take a while to return to normal. Stage 6 Begin with a 500m brisk walk, then alternate 5 minutes of running with 2.5 minutes of brisk walking for 2200m. Then finish your regime with 500m of brisk walking. Chapter 2 – Stage 6 Running Diary Running five minutes without stopping probably sounds like a lot but when you first started that first minute was a lot and think

where you are now. Also when you complete this think that it will probably take you 30 minutes eventually to run 5km so by doing this stage you are nearly 20% of the way there! Eighth run = 17th June 2015 = 3450m = 32 minutes Because I feel that nothing is stopping me at the moment, I have advanced to stage 6 and this is actually where I feel my fitness level is right now. I say this because I had just attempted this for the first time when I found out I was pregnant and it’s nice to be back where I was just over a year ago. But this time I have achieved it uphill, something I never thought I would be able to do! It would be interesting now though, to see how I would do on these stages if I was round the running track rather than uphill. Thanks for listening to track 9 and thanks very much for your support.
