DAYS 4–5 I MYCENAE/EPIDAURUS/OLYMPIA At the fortified city of Mycenae, encounter an ancient grave circle and the Tomb of Agamemnon. Later, enjoy a wine tasting and a visit to the theater of Epidaurus. Explore Olympia, birthplace of the Olympic Games, and taste fresh olive oil at a family farm. DAYS 1–3 I ATHENS, GREECE/NÁFPLIO Arrive in Athens and explore the city’s treasures, including the Acropolis, the ancient Agora, and the National Archaeological Museum. DAYS 6–8 I DELPHI/METEORA Delve into Delphi’s awe-inspiring ruins; then visit the 11th-century monastery of Hosios Loukas and the hilltop town of Aráhova. Continue north to Kalambáka, where we’ll explore the extraordinary monasteries of Meteora, built atop sandstone megaliths. Later, enjoy a truffle-hunting excursion. Diane Harris Cline Author, Historian Diane Harris Cline has investigated the creativity and innovation of the ancient Greeks for 35 years. As the author of National Geographic’s The Greeks: An Illustrated History, she collaborated on the production of the PBS/National Geographic series The Greeks and led tours of the related exhibition.
