LETTER FROM THE EDITOR Dear Reader, Welcome to the final newsletter of my term as your Public Relations Chair, 2016-2017! This month recaps our adventures from winter break, gives you preview of what’s to come this spring, and gives us one last hurrah before District Convention and our unforgettable End of Year Banquet! On a sentimental note, being your editor has been a pleasure. This role’s given me the chance like no other to share your work we do here and beyond. And when my term ends, you could be the next chair of Public Relations! Of course, I’ll teach you everything you need to know. Reading your articles, seeing your pictures, checking out your submissions, and experiencing all the joy you’ve had this year has really made this term something special. Let’s show the world one more time what we can do!! Sincerely,

Daniel Lang

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Hello Nevada CKI! Nevada Circle K has made a flawless 2017 thus far. We've only been back for two weeks yet there have been a number of great events. All of our members bring such a high energy that it makes every event seem like a party. Already, we've had a board position workshop, game night, tons of photoshoots, and of course cute service events. February will continue to be a crazy fun time with not only elections coming up, but also our annual Snag-a-Sweetheart fundraiser, and multiple out of state events. I'm especially excited for nominations and elections. I've seen members grow so much since September that I know next year's leaders will be incredible. Good luck to all the candidates! Yours Truly,

Amie Schlageter

Family Showcase

Greetings our Family is District 5 (POWER): Rise of the Titans! Through service, leadership and fellowship our family looks to create new bonds and memories with everyone. With each experience we face together we hope that everyone in our family will gain the resources they need to become natural born leaders. Prepare for the Rise of the Titans!

My hobbies include running, singing, playing sports, and eating a ton of food. I can play the guitar, and I love jamming out with other people who love to sing! I have a very charismatic personality and I love to make people laugh and smile.

My name is Jaron Bengson! I am a Sophomore majoring in Biotechnology and Minoring in Community Health Science. I was born and raised in Las Vegas (VEGAS BABY). I love eating, sleeping, singing (in the shower), playing games, watching anime, and making you laugh and smile. I also play the ukulele, and read manga. I am very outgoing and have an explosive personality (You have been warned)! My name is Lareana Toralba, a Sophomore majoring in Neuroscience and Minoring in Community Health Science. I was born and raised in California currently living in a suburban town called Brentwood in the Bay Area.

CKI 201: Running for Elections

I’m happy to be able to say that my first CKI 201 was a success! I was so glad to see so many faces come by interested in becoming a board officer for our next term. We first started the night with an icebreaker called “Cross the Line”, which Mickey introduced to the group. We all gathered in a circle and Mickey would ask questions like “Cross the line, if you like Coke better than Pepsi” and if applicable to you, you would step forward. In this game we were able to learn so more about each other without even saying much at all! After the fun icebreaker, we kicked it off with a presentation about board positions and the election process. It was awesome that we were able to do a Q&A type description of each position with the majority of the board members present. I think it really helped everyone interested to get to hear firsthand descriptions of what they might be getting themselves into.
