For many of us, without a doubt, July is the designated month to go out on a vacation and forget about our daily routine, that being by planning a vacation on some remote beach away from everything, or simply doing a staycation in your own town. Receta fresca para esta temporada de calor Ensalada de lechugas variadas con tomate, una pasta excelente y un queso de cabra de lujo, es baja en calorías y muy refrescante. Preparación En primer lugar vamos a proceder a cocer la pasta, en este caso hemos elegido unas ricas espirales, como siempre calentamos el agua, echamos sal y llevamos a ebullición y añadimos la pasta y dejamos como 8 a 9 minutos. Pasado este tiempo sacamos y escurrimos. Ahora sacamos nuestra mezcla de lechugas, hemos adquirido unas bolsas que ya vienen variadas y limpias. Depositamos en un bol.

Lavamos el tomate y cortamos en dados pequeños o podemos utilizar tomate deshitradado. Una vez que la pasta ha enfriado añadimos a las lechugas y al tomate. Cortamos queso de cabra en lonchas y volvemos a cortar en trozos mas pequeños, incorporamos al bol. Preparamos una vinagreta con aceite de oliva virgen, sal y vinagre balsámico de modena, batimos y lo añadimos al bol. Mezclamos todo cuidadosamente y a comer!!!!!

Previously, the City of Tucson Surplus Auction Materials Management (SAMM) Department provided Lost and Found service for Sun Tran and Sun Link. To see if a lost item has been returned, passengers should contact the Customer Satisfaction Center at (520) 792-9222. Items will be available for pick-up at the Sun Tran Administrative Office on weekdays from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., or by appointment. The Sun Tran office is located at 3920 N. Sun Tran

Blvd. and is accessible to bus riders from Route 17 at the stop on Romero Road and Smoot Drive. Non-perishable items will be held for up to 14 calendar days before they are donated. All perishable items will be disposed of. To pick up a lost item, passengers must present a valid photo I.D. Tucson and Pima Ida housing-assistance programs help fund homeless programs in Pima County

he Tucson and Pima County Industrial Development Authorities (IDAs), together with their longtime partners in the Tucson Pathways to Purchase (P2P) Program, have contributed more than $5 million to the Tucson/Pima County Rapid Rehousing Program. The program is a collaboration of the Arizona Department of Housing and the IDAs to help individuals and families in Pima County who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Some of the $5 million has been set aside for future assistance. Over the past two years in Pima County, the Rapid Rehousing Program has helped more than 300 local households exit homelessness and return to permanent housing. That’s an 83% success rate. There are no income or employment conditions for qualification, and the resources

and services offered are typically tailored to the needs of each person. Organizations selected to provide Rapid Rehousing support services include the Primavera Foundation, the Sullivan Jackson Employment Center, Old Pueblo Community Services, Community Bridges, and Our Family Services.

Research shows that eight in 10 Americans shop online, and the dominance of online retail means nearly anything can be bought online. However, nearly anything available online can be counterfeited, and research also shows that one in four people have bought something online that turned out to be counterfeit. The investigative study – “Fakes Are Not Fashionable: A BBB Study of the Epidemic of Counterfeit Goods Sold Online” – looks at the prevalence of counterfeit consumer goods and the criminal systems that circulate them. The risk of encountering counterfeit goods can affect any online shopper. From brand-name sunglasses to handbags, BBB’s report found that any shippable item with a reputation for quality and sizable markup is a candidate for counterfeiting. According to BBB’s report, 88% of counterfeit goods come from China and Hong Kong, with their smuggling and their online sale via fraudulent websites. In fact, Customs agents seized $1.2 billion in counterfeit shipments in fiscal 2017. How to avoid buying counterfeit goods online: ● Research the website and/or company: Make sure the website belongs to a legitimate and trustworthy business before sharing financial information. What to do if you believe you have unwittingly purchased counterfeit goods: ● Ask for a refund: Victims who don’t receive anything when buying online with their credit card, or who receive goods that are counterfeit or not as described, should call the customer service number on the back of their card and request a refund - but call quickly as you have about a two-week window to report the incident.

or most students, summertime means a break in the schedule, time off from academics, and enjoying a boatload of free time. Students work hard for ten months a year and they have good reason to look on the summer months with expectation and delight. Most teachers enjoy the summer time just as much their students! The words ‘summer school’ can seem like the kiss of death to any child, but there are a lot of really great benefits in signing up for classes over the summer break. It definitely doesn’t have to be a bummer and here’s why:

CATCHING UP

This is typically the primary reason for students to attend summer school, and it really is a valuable opportunity to have a much smaller class size w i t h more concentrated time spent mastering troublesome subjects. A student who ends the school year with a failed understanding of Pre-Algebra is not going to make a very successful or smooth transition into Algebra the following year. Moving on to more advanced material in any subject when the foundation is shaky or non-existent will be frustrating, defeating, and ultimately set them up for even more failure. Sometimes it’s simply im-

portant to reinforce the skills and information learned in a previous subject to bring about the confidence to move forward into a more difficult class.

ADVANCEMENT

Working ahead is almost always a great thing when it comes to academics. Taking a class over the summer for credit can reap wonderful rewards for a student during the following school year. I t can free up time in their schedule, move them on to college prep classes sooner, and give them a confidence to know that working hard when it’s not required has huge payoffs, like graduating from high school early!

Summer school fun may seem like an oxymoron, but many schools offer classes that are not purely academic, but rather a mixture of academics and interesting topics for students. uchos padres quisieran que sus hijos hicieran deporte para desarrollar sus habilidades y llegar a ser campeones en algo. Es importante reconocer que cada niño puede ser muy hábil o exitoso en uno u otro deporte. Pero para poder saber qué deporte le gusta al niño o en cuál es más hábil los padres tienen que reconocer que eso toma tiempo, habrá que dar la oportunidad al niño de practicar diferentes deportes para ver cuál le gusta más, en cuál se siente más feliz y para cuál es más hábil. Los padres deben tener mucha paciencia porque esto es un proceso lento que dará sus frutos a largo plazo. Pocas actividades en la vida ofrecen la oportunidad de desarrollar rasgos tan positivos para el carácter y habilidades de una persona, así como para absorber valores de calidad como lo hace el deporte. • El carácter del niño y los valores y principios morales vienen de su familia, pero se fortalecen en el juego limpio del deporte. uienes nacimos en la década de los 50’s 0 60’s, no dejamos de sorprendernos de los diferentes avances tecnológicos, redes sociales, etc. Esto simplemente no existía en nuestra juventud. Este nivel de tecnología que estamos viviendo actualmente, simplemente era ciencia ficci¬¬ón, y por supuesto el comportamiento, los valores la relación con los demás cambio radicalmente. Por ejemplo, ahora está siendo más común; como las compras por internet, no solamente se compran objetos como muebles, y cualquier cosa que usted se pueda imaginar, de hecho, ya no necesita ir a comprar comida al supermercado, ahora la interacción de muchos de nuestros jóvenes es con las máquinas. No niego ni descalifico la importancia de la tecnología, que finalmente todos la estamos usando, incluyendo nuestra generación, y todos sabemos que la tecnología está avanzando día con día, esto es extraordinario. Mi punto es que también tenemos que estar conscientes del lado negativo de la tecnología que está generando un nuevo estilo de interacciones sociales, ya que es posible que algunas personas se alejen de su vida normal, también se ha comprobado que las habilidades cognitivas, o de pensamiento se vean afectadas, el concepto de amistad también ha cambiado, ahora sólo basta que a uno lo acepten como uno de sus contactos y ya se puede considerar que empezamos una relación de “amigos”. Otro efecto que siempre se comenta es el que las conversaciones en familia son totalmente diferentes. Sé que este tema es muy trillado, sin embargo, aún no estamos haciendo mucho para que podamos nuevamente humanizar nuestras interacciones sociales, vernos en persona, socializar en persona y establecer y cultivar relaciones de una legítima amistad y no solo a través de “solicitudes de una amistad virtual”, que lo único que necesitamos es seleccionar con nuestro teclado si lo acepto o no y si no me gusta esa persona solamente lo “elimino de mis redes sociales”. Como dije al principio la tecnología es extraordinaria pero no dejemos que nos robotice.

The Certificate Program Curriculum will also be Available to Colleges Across America TUCSON, AZ ima Community College and self-driving truck company TuSimple announced today the launch of the first autonomous driving certificate program for truck drivers. The Autonomous Vehicle Driver and Operations Specialist program will equip truck drivers with the knowledge and skills to expand their roles in this new and rapidly expanding industry. The certificate will prepare individuals for jobs such as training the autonomous system as test drivers, operating the vehicle in situations where autonomous driving is not suitable and to remotely monitor the system from a command center. The Autonomous Vehicle Driver and Operations Specialist certificate program will teach experienced truck drivers how to operate and work with autonomous trucks in as quickly as one semester. The program requires a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) prior to enrollment as drivers will build on their trucking knowledge with each course. TuSimple and Pima Community College have co-created a curriculum for the certificate program that comprises of five classes. The courses are: Introduction to Autonomous Vehicles, Industrial Safety, Computer Hardware Components, Electrical Systems I, as well as, Transportation and Traffic Management. In conjunction with the program, TuSimple will prioritize hiring graduates of the certificate program for

jobs at its Tucson, AZ testing and development center. “It’s clear that the future of truck transportation will offer new employment opportunities for today’s drivers but it will require a set of new skills,” stated Lee Lambert, Chancellor, Pima Community College. “Working with TuSimple to develop this Autonomous Vehicle Driver and Operations Specialist certificate program ensures our students will build competencies in multiple areas – from logistics and information technology to automated industrial technology. These areas are being transformed by autonomy and drivers will need training in order to interact with autonomous trucks.” The program will be offered at Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ, starting September 2019 and registration will begin in August 2019. Pima Community College and TuSimple will collaborate with other schools interested in offering the same program. The first phase of the DOT study will focus on the longhaul trucking and transit bus sectors and will result in a Report to Congress, expected in summer 2019. TuSimple, recognizing that autonomous technology creates new jobs, wants to be a catalyst in providing talent to and access to job opportunities in the transportation industry. The trucking industry is currently facing a significant driver shortage. According to the American Trucking Association (ATA) it could reach 175,000 by 2024. Experts say it is difficult to attract young people into the profession, the average driver age has climbed to 55 years old, and drivers aren’t staying in the field, the industry is approaching a 100 percent turnover rate per year. TuSimple is driven to help address the driver shortage and help improve road safety. TuSimple is the only company able to drive fully autonomously from depot-to-depot with the industry’s most advanced self-driving perception system for trucks. Most recently, TuSimple collaborated with the United States Postal Service (USPS) on a two-week pilot program to haul mail between Phoenix, Arizona and Dallas, Texas USPS distribution centers. a palabra más importante que debes recordar para que tu viaje en la vida sea una experiencia agradable tanto en lo emocional, como en lo espiritual puede ser sorprendentemente la palabra: “NO!!”. Tu jornada de vida es larga. Demasiadas personas comienzan bien en su viaje por su existencia, pero se salen de su travesía antes del final. Dios quiere que vayas por la vida aprendiendo lo importante que es la distancia, en otras palabras, que disfrutes por largo tiempo este viaje en el que vamos todos nosotros como seres humanos. Tienes un maratón por delante y no puedes correr el maratón con una barra en tus manos. A menudo, la gente abandona su viaje de fe temprano porque todo lo que llevan consigo los desgasta. Tenemos que eliminar el desorden. Un crucero puede llegar bastante rápido en medio del agua. Si le añades cien botes salvavidas, se volverá lento. Enchufa una batería en una bombilla, y recorrerá un largo camino. Conéctala a 15, y se acabará rápidamente. Conéctala a 100, y se acabará aún más rápido. Eso es lo que nos sucede cuando intentamos hacer demasiado al mismo tiempo. Necesitamos aprender a decir “no” a algunas cosas que son buenas, pero no obstante nos impiden hacer nuestro mejor esfuerzo. En la Biblia encontramos este pasaje. Hebreos 12:1 dice: “Quitemos todo peso que nos frene” (NTV) Los pesos no son malos. No son pecaminosos. Simplemente son innecesarios. Podría ser un trabajo, una relación o un pasatiempo. Es algo que te frena de lo que Dios quiere de tu vida. ¡¡Y no vale la pena, relájate y atrévete a pronunciar esa palabra “NO!!” Si no lo hacemos garantizado que en algún momento de nuestra jornada nos arrepentiremos de ello. Antelope Canyon: A Secluded wonder in the Desert

ntelope Canyon is a slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is on Navajo land east of Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon includes two separate, scenic slot canyon sections, referred to individually as “Upper Antelope Canyon” or “The Crack”; and “Lower Antelope Canyon” or “The Corkscrew”. Upper Antelope Canyon is called Tsé bighánílíní, ‘the place where water runs through rocks’ by the Navajo. It is the most frequently visited by tourists for two reasons. First, its entrance and entire length are at ground level, requiring no climbing. Second, beams or shafts of direct sunlight radiating down from openings at the top of the canyon are much more common in Upper than in Lower. Beams occur most often in the summer months, as they require the sun to be high in the sky. Winter colors are more muted. Summer months provide two types of lighting. Light beams start to peek into the canyon March 20 and disappear October 7 each year. Lower Antelope Canyon, is called Hazdistazí, or ‘spiral rock arches’ by the Navajo, is located several miles from Upper Antelope Canyon. Prior to the installation of metal stairways, visiting the canyon required climbing along pre-installed ladders in certain areas. Even following the installation of stairways, it is a more difficult hike than Upper Antelope. It is longer, narrower in spots, and even footing is not available in all areas. Five flights of stairs of varying step widths are currently available to aid in descent and ascent. At the end, the climb out requires flights of stairs. Additionally, visitors should be aware of sand which consistently falls from the above crack as it can make the stairs particularly slippery.

Despite these limitations, Lower Antelope Canyon draws a considerable number of photographers, though casual sightseers are much less common there than in the Upper canyon. Specific photographer-only tours are available for booking around midday, when the beam of light is at its peak. Photographers are required to bring a tripod to participate. The lower canyon is in the shape of a “V” and shallower than the Upper Antelope. Lighting is better in the early hours and late morning. The Navajo name for Upper Antelope Canyon is Tsé bighánílíní, which means ‘the place where water runs through rocks’. Lower Antelope Canyon is Hazdistazí (called “Hasdestwazi” by the Navajo Parks and Recreation Department), or ‘spiral rock arches’. Both are in

the LeChee Chapter of the Navajo Nation. The canyons are accessible by guided tour only. Antelope Canyon is a popular location for photographers and sightseers, and a source of tourism business for the Navajo Nation. It has been accessible by tour only since 1997, when the Navajo Tribe made it a Navajo Tribal Park. All visits are through one of several licensed tour operators. It is not possible to visit the Canyon independently. Photography within the canyons is difficult due to the wide range exposure range (often 10 EV or more) made by light reflecting off the canyon walls. The road to upper Antelope Canyon is gated by the Navajo Nation and entry is restricted to guided tours led by authorized tour guides.

¿ A dónde nos lleva el presidente de México?

ntes de entrar en materia les diré, que cerca de cuarenta personas enviaron sus opiniones respecto al tema abajo expresado, en lo personal en un principio simpaticé como les paso a muchos con el candidato ANDRÉS MANUEL LOPEZ OBRADOR, después del desastre de gobierno de Enrique Pena Nieto y anteriores, donde reinaron los cuatro jinetes del apocalipsis, hubo de todo no le falto ningún ingrediente a la ensalada. Recorrió varias veces durante veinte años toda la República, se dio cuenta de todas las necesidades habidas y por haber principalmente de los pobres, prometió, ¡prometió y sigue prometiendo! El siempre atacó y sigue atacando a sus antecesores y a todo lo que huela a rico llámense (empresarios, periodistas, profesionistas, etc.). Ahora ya como PRESIDENTE DE MÉXICO debe de gobernar no únicamente para sus adorados pobres y migrantes de Centro América, también debe hacerlo para la clase alta principalmente para el empresariado, porque de ahí saldrá el dinero suficiente para apapachar a su pueblo, a sus minis y a los hondureños, salvadoreños, Guatemaltecos y otros países centroamericanos. (Les regaló, 30 millones de dólares ..y nosotros ¿Qué? Caso contrario, Si no atienden a los empresarios de México y sus grandes capitales; podría repetirse la historia, ya que en regímenes anteriores esta “ELITE”, sacó esos grandes capitales al exterior provocando una crisis severa a la nación; si todo este grupo empresarial se sienten amenazado, lo volverán hacer ¡cuidado pues!, Recuerden a Luis Echeverria Álvarez, José López Portillo y Miguel De La Madrid Hurtado, hubo peores pero estos fueron más peores que los peores. De entrada, ya como presidente ya lo había anunciado como candidato la cancelación del Aeropuerto de Texcoco, tenía construido el 50% supuestamente porque había mucha corrupción, pero no era más factible seguir el proyecto ya sin corrupción? Además, hubiera subido a nivel mundial las comunicaciones aéreas (¡México sería otro!) Ahora será Panamá el ganón, desde ahí las rela-

Debiera de darle oportunidad a sus ministros que expresen sus ideas, que los conozca México y el mundo; casi nadie los conoce, sería una buena oportunidad de saber quiénes son. Con dichas peroratas pierde demasiado tiempo también en aeropuertos y caminos, ¿imagínense si gana la consulta 2021? Él quiere volver a recorrer nuevamente toda la Republica, cuando va tener tiempo para las cosas importantes que necesita México? Se podrá decir que el mandato de AMLO va comenzando y no se le puede exigir mucho, tenía veinte años queriendo ser presidente de México, pero da la impresión que no se preparó para administrarlo la economía anda mal y puede colapsarse. No existen nuevos empleos, los NINIS no son empleados viven del gobierno, les cortó el presupuesto a todas las secretarias principalmente al ramo de salud, educación, cultura, etc. ¿para qué? Para meterlo al pozo sin fondo de PEMEX, Santa Lucía, Tren Maya, refinería Dos Bocas en Tabasco, (¡en cinco años- 10 años, la gasolina irá decreciendo, la energía eléctrica viene con todo!). Por el lado de los Ninis y migrantes, todo se ve muy tétrico. Inclusive la venta del avión presidencial será destinada para sostener a estos últimos. Todo esto ha venido sucediendo porque AMLO abrió la boca diciéndoles a todo el mundo, que México estaba abierto sin restricciones vaya le tomaron la pala-

bra, pero no contaba con la astucia del presidente de los Estados Unidos, ¡Donald Trump, que lo puso contra la pared y ahora tuvo que dar marcha atrás dijo mi mamá que siempre NO! Tuvo que echar mano del antiguo encargado carcelario de mano dura Francisco Garduño, nuevo titular del Instituto Nacional de Migración en México, (Dios nos agarre confesados). Para terminar, diremos que la inseguridad esta a la orden del día en todo México, la Guardia Nacional hasta hoy no funciona y AMLO les dió orden no disparar a los criminales, a lo contrario deben apapacharlos ¿así como? Cuando termine su mandato si es que no se eterniza con las matazones diarias, no gobernará a ningún mexicano saben ¿Por qué? Todos estaremos ¡muertos! Servidos a todos aquellas personas que mandaron sus sentires. Otra más no va a pasar nada pero es una piedra en el zapato de AMLO, “Usuarios de Redes Sociales, Integrantes de la Organización (CHALECOS MÉXICO Y POLÍTICOS)”, están manifestándose en diferentes partes del país para “REVOCACION DE MANDATO”, muy activo en estos menesteres el ex Presidente Lic. t means when we switch on the lights, none of the electricity making that possible comes from carbon-emitting sources. That means no coal, oil or natural gas (unless, in some cases, if it’s used with carbon capture and storage technology). A few places, such as Hawaii, are planning for all renewable power (like solar and wind energy), but most are aiming for the majority of power to come from renewables by the 2030s and then 100 percent to come from “clean” power by midcentury. For example, California’s bill requires 60 percent renewables by 2030, and the rest from clean sources by 2045 (more on what that encompasses below). Using “clean” as broad language seeks to satisfy the range of stakeholders who want to see action on climate change, but differ on how fast we can get there, how much it will cost and what solutions should be used. “Clean” therefore includes both renewables such as solar and wind, (often coupled with batteries to store the energy for later use), as well as carbon-free sources like nuclear and potentially even some natural gas if it’s used with a system that captures the carbon emissions. Hydropower is also usually categorized as “clean.” Just a few years ago it was hard to imagine nearly a third of U.S. states moving toward robust climate action. This juncture has been made possible by two main factors: increased public interest in and sense of urgency over climate change, and matured renewables technology that makes the transition not only possible but economical. First, two major scientific reports released late last year -- the United Nations IPCC report and the U.S. National Climate Assessment -- laid out in stark terms, the rapid and unprecedented changes the world must undertake over the next decade to avoid the most devastating impacts of climate change. These reports have helped

to launch climate change and the demand for solutions into the public conversation. The good news is that polling shows most Americans across the political spectrum feel good about at least one of those solutions: renewable energy. The technology needed to remove carbon from the power sector, which is responsible for about a third of all U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, is cheap. Why wouldn’t we deploy this readily available solution? Renewables even without subsidies are now routinely the cheapest source for new electricity generation in the U.S., and analysts predict that solar will be cheaper than natural gas “just about everywhere” by 2023. We’re already seeing this play out: since the start of 2019, Indiana regulators rejected a new gas plant over concerns it would be more expensive than renewable alternatives, and an Arizona utility decided to fill a need for new capacity historically met by gas with one of the largest battery storage initiatives in the country that will be paired with solar installations. The fact is that people love clean energy, it’s a job-creator, and enjoys bipartisan support. Clean energy jobs outnumber those in fossil fuels by nearly three to one -- the fastest growing occupations in the U.S. are solar installer and wind technician. All 10 of the top Congressional districts for installed wind-generating capacity are held by Republicans. It’s a winning issue: in the 2018 midterms, seven states flipped to Democratic governors, and all of them ran in some part on clean energy. Though it can be easy to feel discouraged by lack of climate action at the federal level, look no further than the states for renewed inspiration. Just think that less than a year ago only one state - California - had committed to 100 percent clean electricity, and now at least 18 are looking in the same direction.
