ND turns 15 in 2022 and it does so in a different way. In June 2007 we released our debut edition, but sadly, in September 2019, owing to circumstances beyond our control, we published and distributed the last edition in Ibiza. The world appeared to have stopped and above all, Ibiza and its magical bustle had slowed at the onset of a pandemic which would call the world to a halt. At this stage, we changed course and headed to Tulum in Mexico. In 2020 and 2021 ND waspresented in Tulum in 3 editions. With all the will in the world it was impossible to continue our regular Ibiza edition’s. However, we are back full force, with a celebratory issue which will be distributed in both Ibiza and Tulum, with, as always, a touch of international news. For our ‘Night’ cover, we asked for the support of a great artist and friend of ND, ‘Luciano’, who supported our cause without hesitating a minute and with sympathy that characterizes him: thanks Luciano! On the ‘Day’ cover, a new friend of ND ‘Rayan O Gorman’ introduced us to his Vitalik project. New to the pages of ND, but not to the thousands of people who have watched his sets at ‘We Love’ at Space or currently at Pikes.

In other exciting news - ND is now part of the ‘Backstage’ ecosystem(here the website bksbackstage.io) A company that has Entertainment 3.0 as its fundamental objective through the use of Blockchain technologies. You can discover more information and articles inside the magazine.Finally, I wanted to personally dedicate this issue of ND to friend and collaborator of our media, Raffaela Travisano, who tragically died last November and who would have celebrated her birthday on 31 July.

ND cumple 15 años. Y lo hace de una manera diferente. En Junio 2007 estranamos la primera edicion de nuestro Magazine pero fue en septiembre de 2019 cuando publicamos la última edición realizada y distribuida en Ibiza. Después de esta fecha cambiamos nuestra dirección a Tulum. Entonces se paró el mundo y, sobre todo, se paró Ibiza. En 2020 y 2021 ND estuvo presente en Tulum con 3 ediciones, pero en Ibiza con toda la voluntad del caso fue imposible realizar ninguna edición.

Ahora estamos de vuelta, con un número que se distribuirá en Ibiza y Tulum con contenido de estas dos localidades e internacional como siempre. En la portada Night pedimos la colaboración de un gran artista y amigo de ND, Luciano quien apoyó a nuestra casa sin dudarlo un minuto y con la simpatía que lo caracteriza: ¡Gracias Luciano! En la portada del Day, un nuevo amigo de ND Rayan O Gorman nos presentó su proyecto Vitalik. Nuevo en las páginas de ND pero no para las miles de personas que han asistido a sus sesiones en We Love at Space o actualmente en Pikes. Otra noticia importante es que ND ya forma parte del ecosistema Backstage (aquí la web bksbackstage.io si queréis más información y dentro de la revista) una empresa que tiene como objetivo el Entrentaiment 3.0. Por último, quería dedicar personalmente este número de ND a una amiga y colaboradora de nuestro medio, Raffaela Travisano, fallecida trágicamente el pasado mes de noviembre y que habría celebrado su cumpleaños el pasado 31 de julio.

Para mí la familia lo es todo, la cosa más importante que tengo en la vida y es lo más importante que tendré jamás en toda la vida. Ser DJ no es fácil si tienes una familia porque requiere mucho sacrificio y organización. Durante casi 30 años he tenido que viajar siempre para hacer que mi carrera funcionará, para hacer que mi nombre fuese conocido por el mundo entero. Tienes siempre que elegir el tiempo que quieres pasar con tu familia, pero también querría desarrollar una carrera que funcionara para poder estar con ellos, entonces he intentado lo más por tener un balance entre ambas cosas. He intentado hacer muchas cosas para hacer que mi carrera y que mi familia puedan estar bien juntos, podría haber hecho más, creo también en mi carrera que no hice porque puse prioridad a la familia. A veces tuve que sacrificar la carrera por ejemplo, salió un momento que había que tener una semana en estudio con alguien súper importante y que por decirte estaba la semana de cumpleaños de mis hijos, pues yo sacrificaba el mi carrera en el sentido de que decía no simplemente porque para mí era más importante estar en un evento importante de mi familia y lo sacrificada por este lado. Lo mismo del otro lado, por ejemplo que se me ha pasado también que tenía en Ibiza la apertura y caía justo, como siempre pasa eso cuándo empiezan las vacaciones de los niños, que me pierdo un espectáculo de fin de año de mis hijos. Y que me duele el corazón porque son cosas que para mí son muy importantes y no pude asistir a todos porque había una cosa que obviamente requería mi presencia para ese tipo de cosas. Pero creo haber hecho lo más posible para que la cosa funcionara.

Congratulations on your Leonie, your daughter who has just been born… How important is family to you? Is it difficult to be a father and a DJ?

For me, family is everything, the most important thing I have in my life and it is the most important thing I will ever have in my whole life. Being a DJ is not easy if you have a family because it requires a lot of sacrifice and organization. For almost 30 years I have always had to travel to make my career work, to make my name known to the whole world. You always have to choose the time you want to spend with your family but I would also like to develop a career that works to be able to be with them so I have tried my best to have a balance between both Ithings.have tried to do many things to make my career and my family be good together, I believe I could have done more in my career but that I didn’t because I put my family first. Sometimes I had to sacrifice my career, for example, there was a time when I had to have a week in the studio with someone super important and that, to tell you, it was the week of my children’s birthdays, well, I sacrificed my career in the sense that I said it wasn’t just about me because for me it was more important to be in an important event of my family and I sacrificed it for this side. The same on the other side, for example that it also happened to me when I had the opening in Ibiza and as it fell always happens,it was when the children’s vacations started I missed end-of-the-year show. And my heart aches because these are things that are very important to me and I couldn’t attend to everyone because there was one thing that obviously required my presence to be able to do that kind of thing. This year you have a new residence. Explain to me the genesis of this new party and the concept?

Every Saturday I have my residence at Club Chinois. It is the smallest club on the island. I always loved going to play there when it was Heart. There was always a good vibe because the club wasn’t as big as Amnesia or Ushuaia and there was less pressure regarding the lineup, like how many people came to play during the season. When we have done the party at Pacha, there were always about 8 DJs in one night, so this has given me the possibility of doing something more intimate, smaller, without having the pressure to always call the same names that everyone brings and do something a little smaller like a Boutique Club and after having met the technical team, the owner, all these people believe a lot in me, in my experience and they have given me a little free hand for the whole sound issue. Everything is almost perfect in this part of the sound, which for me in the party is the most important thing: a super high quality sound to be able to express the music in the best way and for people to have a good time. From Chinois I feel that since the day we opened, every Saturday we have been improving and now I can say that we have the best sound on the island, the sound experience is truly spectacular. For me this is my main engine, when it sounds good, I feel super free and the dance floor doesn’t have a restaurant anymore so they only sink people who come to dance, people who come and dance all night and there is also a super sound, all the technical part of the screen and the lights: it is something that fills me with great emotion and fills me with great motivation when I see that I have the tools to be able to do something special and Chinois has been a meeting for me where I can really express coherently with what I do myself. An audience that returns every Saturday, who are having a good time, dancing, I see a lot of smiles, I also see young people who are discovering all that music. I am very pleased to see young people, because I say “look at our movement that continues from generation to generation” and that fills my heart. The only weak point is on the terrace upstair. They have a very small terrace, but we have made an effort so that people can mingle a little, it is relaxed and the truth is that the Chinois team is very open to improving, and always listening. Every week we have Este año tienes una nueva residencia. ¿Explicame la génesis de este nuevo party y el concepto? Cada sábado tengo mi residencia en el Club Chinois. Es el club más chiquitito de la isla. Siempre me encantaba ir a tocar allí cuando era Heart. Había siempre una buena vibra porque el club no era tan grande como Amnesia o Ushuaia y había menos presión al respecto de los line up, de cuánta gente viene a tocar en la temporada. Nosotros cuando hemos hecho la fiesta en Pacha, había siempre como 8 Dj en una noche, entonces esto me ha dado la posibilidad de hacer algo más íntimo, más pequeñito, sin tener presión que llamar siempre los mismos nombres que todo mundo trae y hacer algo un poco más pequeño un Boutique Club y después el haber conocido el equipo técnico, el dueño... toda esta gente cree mucho en mi, en mi experiencia y me han dado un poco carta libre para todo el tema del sonido. Todo està casi perfecto en esta parte del sonido, que para mí en la festa es lo más importante: un sonido de super alta calidad para poder expresar la música de la mejor forma y que la gente lo pase bien. De Chinois siento que desde el día que abrimos todos los sábados hemos estado mejorando y ahora puedo afirmar que tenemos el mejor sonido en la isla, realmente es espectacular la experiencia sonora. Para mi esto es mi motor principal, cuando suena bien, me siento súper libre, el dance floor ya no tiene restaurante entonces solo unen gente que viene a bailar, gente que viene y que baila toda la noche y hay también un súper sonido, toda la parte técnica de la pantalla y de las luces: es algo que a mí me llenan mucho de emoción y me llena de mucha motivación cuando veo que tengo la herramienta para poder hacer algo especial y Chinois ha sido un encuentro para mí donde realmente, me puedo expresar de forma coherente con lo que yo hago yo. Un público que vuelve todos los sábados, que lo están pasando bien, bailando, veo mucha sonrisa, veo gente joven también que están descubriendo todas esa música. Me complace mucho ver gente joven, porque digo “mira el nuestro movimiento sigue de generación en generación” y eso me llena el corazón. El único punto débil está en la terraza de arriba. Tiene la terraza muy chica, pero hemos hecho un esfuerzo para que la gente pueda disfrutarla un poco, es relajado y la verdad que el equipo de Chinois está muy abierto a mejorar, escuchan, en cada

My real name is Dario Liberati but my artist one is DJ MAX. Where are you from? I live in Venice, Italy. My great grandfather came to Zagreb, Croatia as an Italian diplomat and I was born there after two generations. Why should someone who doesn’t know you listen to your music and not someone else’s? It is always good to listen to different artists and different genres, because this is the only way you can develop your taste in music. So, I never encourage people to listen only to what I can offer. For example, I grew up listening to Funk, Disco, Rock & Roll and early House releases. When I started DJing, this knowledge helped me a lot in picking up tracks and building DJ sets, in the era ¿Nombre? ¿Cómo te sientes cuando estás pinchando? Maravilloso. Este es mi mundo, más allá de lo material. Es la energía que conecta nuestras mentes y almas a través de la música en algo surrealista. I’m glad that my performance left a positive impact and after two years of Pandemic lockdown I am continuing with my performances in Ibiza. What do you think is the connection between Ibiza and Tulum? Well I was here from the beginning, everything was starting 13 years ago, and I came here every season in January, and I stayed one or two months. Really the truth is the people have brought this vibe to this area was definitely the BPM, festival with big respect to (Phil, Alessandra, Craig, Ralf, Maximilian), they really have created this connection in Ibiza and what we are now, i believe it was everything starting from the beginning in Playa del Carmen, but after the festival everyone was moving to Tulum and here it was absolutely nothing and we were making the begging party with Solomun and many more good artists and no one place in Tulum had that vibe. The BPM did a lot of good for this area and such shame for everything that happened. I hope this country understands how helpful it was. This place grew so fast and how many families had a good opportunity to have what they have now, if it was not for them it would be very different. I came here for the BPM festival, if it was not for them I would never know this place. be

Behind the title lies a big meaning, as this edition is dedicated to their main stage, that is known as Modernity. This stage was born exactly 12 years ago, when the organisers of the festival alongside Luciano, Sonja Moonear and Guillaume Coutu Dumont took the speakers on their shoulders and took it up to the mountains in a gondola with a selection of people for a little after party. Twelve years later, the stage hosts 3000 people, worldwide acts and is known for its glasshouse tests positioned at 2,200m above the sea level with a striking scenery of the Swiss Alps.

To celebrate the success that the stage has brought to the festival, Caprices will host two stages at the top of the mountains, the mighty Modernity and a brand new stage called The Club from 12.00 - 22.00. At Modernity expect to see artists such as Guy Gerber, Luciano, Stephan Bodzin, Audiofly, Francesca Lobardo, Arapu, Margaret Dygas, Sonja Moonear, Kevin De Vries, Deniz Horvat and many more. Whilst The Club will be filled with international friends like Skizzo, Gawdat, Persic, Rolbac, Norman Weber and more, as well as our local stars like Jay Fase, Riva, Adolpho & Franky, Madnax and many more. Para la edición de este año, que tendrá lugar del 16 al 18 de septiembre, Caprices ha llamado a su evento Special Modernity Autumn Edition. Detrás del título hay un gran significado, ya que esta edición está dedicada a su escenario principal, que se conoce como Modernity. Exactamente este es el escenario que nació hace 12 años, cuando los organizadores del festival junto a Luciano, Sonja Moonear y Guillaume Coutu Dumont cogieron a los ponentes a hombros y lo subieron a las montañas en góndola con una selección de personas para un poco después de la fiesta. Doce años más tarde, el escenario alberga a 3000 personas, desde todo el mundo y es conocido por su carpa de invernadero ubicada a 2200 m sobre el nivel del mar con un paisaje sorprendente de los Alpes suizos.

Para celebrar el éxito que el escenario ha traído al festival, Caprices albergará dos escenarios en la cima de las montañas, el poderoso Modernity y un nuevo escenario llamado The Club de 12:00 a 22:00.
