MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING | RELIABILITY ENGINEERING | MAINTENANCE METHODS ENGINEERING “Let the compass of Vector Maintenance Management B.V. be your guide”

Lukoil sees net profits rise Russian crude producer Lukoil has reported a 15% rise in annual net income to $10.4 billion on the back of high oil prices. The profits came despite lower production and higher production costs seen over the 12-month period. Commercial hydrocarbon production fell 4.4% year-onyear to 2.14 million barrels of oil equivalent per day. Hydrocarbon production costs per barrel of oil equivalent rose 14.3% year-on-year to $4.71 in 2011, something Lukoil attributed to the appreciation of the ruble against the US dollar. The company said its bottom line was also hit by a $955 mil-
lion loss connected to downward revision of its new South Khylchuyu oilfield reserves. Analysts polled by Reuters had forecasted higher profits of $11.77 billion, but sales revenues, up 27% to $133.7 billion, beat their expectations of $132.8 billion. Earnings before interest, taxation depreciation and amortisation rose 16% to $18.6 billion, below the analysts’ forecast of $19.64 billion. Between next year and 2014 Lukoil in investing $48 billion with $13.9 billion of this coming in 2012 alone, Russia's second largest producer said in December
Seadrill orders two ultra-deepwater drillships from Samsung HAMILTON, Bermuda – Seadrill Ltd. (XOSL:SDRL) has entered into turnkey contracts with Samsung for the construction of two ultra-deepwater drillships at $600 million each. Construction of the drillships is scheduled for completion in the second and third quarters 2014. The price includes a turnkey contract with the yard, project management, drilling and handling tools, spares, capitalized interest, and operations preparations. Seadrill has also a fixed price option to order an additional drillship for delivery in 2014. The drillships are the same design as the three previous dual-derrick drillships Seadrill ordered from Samsung late 2010 and early 2011, with in-
creased water depth, technical capabilities and accommodation capacities. These dynamic positioning drillships will have a hook load capability of 1,250 tons and a water depth capacity of up to 12,000 ft (3,658 m) targeting operations in areas such as the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil as well as West and East Africa. In addition, these units will be outfitted with seven ram configuration of the BOP stack and with storing and handling capacity for a second BOP. In making the decision to order the vessels, Seadrill cited a surge in long-term demand for ultra-deepwater drilling rigs as well as tender rigs driven by high oil prices and deepwater exploration successes.

Besides this we carry out helicopter crew changes for our clients, including dispatch services. 4. Which are your daily activities? I sport every day, I do Triathlon. After work I sport or help my mom with the hotel. 5. Which schools did you attend? Luzac College in Alkmaar, when I was highly active in triathlon for the Dutch youth team 6. How did you wind up in the offshore industry? My dad has is owner of Den Helder Support Service, a ships agency which also has an office at the heliport of Den Helder to serve our clients. As the company is growing, he needed more personnel at the heliport in Den Helder. So he asked me if I wanted that job, because I was looking for a job where I could work besides my school . I had 1 day school in a week, so had enough time to work. 7. How long have you been working in the offshore industry? For 1,5 year now, I work for Den Helder Support Service. 8. Tell us your dreams for the future. To live a healthy and happy life with my husband and children, and maybe a sports career in the Triathlon. That is really my dream. I love to sport, especially to run, that is my favourite part of Triathlon. I have to sport every day, because I want to go back to the top sport of triathlon. It’s a great world and I miss it every day. I did professional triathlon for a couple years but I quit because I had to finish school first. 11. Do you keep track of the news? If so, which item, national or regional, has had the greatest impact on you last month? My interests goes to the situations in poor countries, especially African Countries. 12. What is your motto in life? Carpe diem, and do only the things what you like to do! If you want something and you do your utmost for it, you can always reach your goal. 13. Who would you like to nominate for the next edition and why? I want to nominate Dennie Koningstein, because he’s just 24 years old and he loves his work (I think..) and he is just like me, a younger person., what I think is good for offshore, because on the heliport there are a whole lot older people 14. What are your plans for the (near) future? In April I will travel to Durban in South Africa to carry our volunteering jobs for 3 months with foundation BE MORE, to help young orphan & unprivileged children. I really looking forward to that and being able to help! When I return to Holland again, I will start a work related study, in order to grow in the company. Maybe I will end up in our companies office in Ghana to strengthen that team, as I have a passion for Africa. Beside this my sport is important for me, maybe I can still make it to the International top, who knows..

AutoTrak X-treme, TesTrak Systems Successfully Drill Tri-lateral Well in The Netherlands Directional drilling and LWD services help operator achieve recovery goals
Benefits • Reduced torque and drag in 2,000 m sand screens with “gun-barrel” wellbore geometry • Minimized NPT through comprehensive LWD and formation pressure point data • Eliminated additional run using the modular motor • Achieved directional control 10 m out of the casing windows
Dana Petroleum, operating an offshore exploration well in The Netherlands, discoveredan 11-m thick oil rim approximately 5 km east of the P11 de Ruyter platform. To recover the maximum amount of hydrocarbons before the well gassed out, the operator would have to drill a maximum reservoir exposure well. Baker Hughes deployed the AutoTrak™ system from the 17 ½-in. section onwards, providing a “gunbarrel” hole geometry, especially through the critical horizontal sections. Then, the AutoTrak X-treme™ motor-powered rotary steerable system and the TesTrak™ formation pressure while drilling services
were used to deliver a commercial trilateral well that drained oil from the rim, while also producing the free gas above it. Baker Hughes drilled a total of 7,926 m, while keeping the well within centimeters of the plan without any failures or issues. This exposure well ensured instant directional control could be achieved without the need for a large rathole or separate directional motor run outside the casing windows. The comprehensiveness of the LWD data gathered through the TesTrak service eliminated the need for a wireline run, minimizing recorded NPT for the project. Additionally, the “gun-barrel” wellbore
geometry contributed to 2,000 m sand screens going into the well with significantly lower drag than what was predicted. Directional control was outstanding, keeping the well within centimeters of the plan. Dana Petroleum was able to drill and complete 100 m of the Volpriehausen sandstone reservoir to drain the Van Ghent gas cap. Horizontal sections were maintained within
+/- 0.5 m of the landing TVD. By using the TesTrak and AutoTrak X-treme systems, the well’s tested rates exceeded expectations and met all targets for Dana Petroleum. A well construction manager from Dana Petroleum commented, “This is just a note to express our appreciation at the awesome performance of your DD/LWD tools and crews on the last tri-lateral well.”
Well background and challenges • Tri-lateral oil and gas well, offshore, The Netherlands • Drilled a total of 7,926 m (26,004 ft) • Deployed AutoTrak system from 17 ½-in. section providing gunbarrel hole geometry through critical horizontal sections Baker Hughes solution and results • Deployed TesTrak system for 12 ¼-in. pilot hole, eliminating the need for wireline run • Near perfect lateral sections achieved using AutoTrak and AutoTrak X-treme systems to maintain precise well trajectory • Deployment of AutoTrak X-treme system achieved instant directional control without drilling a large rat-hole or dedicated directional motor run

New direction ECN: with and for the market The complete Board of Directors presented ECN’s new strategy plan 20122015 to Mark Dierikx, Director General for Energy, Telecom and Competition of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation (EL&I). While handing over the new plan, Paul Korting commented on the new direction of ECN and its role in the complex world of a sustainable energy system: “Sustainable energy is vitally important for the entire world. The world is changing fast and the demand for innovative solutions and smart applications for a sustainable society is urgent. ECN endorses the need for sustainable change and is setting a new course accordingly. To realise a transition to a sustainable energy system, ECN focuses on developing applied knowledge and technology with and for the market. ECN used to be regarded as an organisation that worked exclusively for the government, but these days are over. ECN wants to take a leading role in bringing together and joining the so-called golden triad: trade and industry, government and other knowledge institutes, both on a national and global level. ECN's

new course of action fits in well with central government innovation policies. We are working together to put the Netherlands among the top-5 knowledge based economies in the world. Collaboration is the only way forward. ” Mark Dierikx agrees and responds positively: "Wonderful to see how ECN is embarking on a new course! My first association with ECN was that of a James Bondlike environment where 'secret’ technology such as torrefaction is developed. But once you get to see the inside, it becomes clear that ECN develops important technologies. Not just for the Netherlands, but also for the rest of the world. With this new course ECN will work together with the market even more."

In addition, IHC Drives & Automation will deliver the integrated automation system, the full electrical installation and the complete electrical machinery package, IHC Merwede said. The company would also be responsible for the design and engineering of the OSX-built vessel, with a top tension capacity of 300 tonnes, with the pipelay spread would also be provided by IHC Engineering Business. This, coupled with a pipelay vessel being built for Subsea 7 meant that IHC Merwede was providing technology to four of the six pipe-laying vessels ordered by Petrobras, IHC Merwede president Govert Hamers said. The Dutchbuilt vessels were due for delivery in May and August 2014.

use 245,000 metric tonnes of household, business, and industrial waste to generate electricity and heat by means of combined heat and power generation to ensure a reliable heat supply for Plymouth’s Naval Base. Construction of the power plant, with an installed electrical capacity of 25 MW and a maximum process steam extraction of up to 30 tonnes per hour, is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2012, with commissioning scheduled for 2014. Siemens is responsible for the delivery, installation, and commissioning of the SST400 steam turbine, including gearboxes and oil system as well as the electrical generator and auxiliary systems. The steam generator installed in the plant produces steam that drives the turbine to ultimately
produce electricity. The plant is being built adjacent to the Naval Base in Plymouth in south west England. It will provide the base with a reliable and economical heat supply. Additionally, most of the electrical energy produced will be used at the Naval Base. The British Defense Ministry’s Devonport Naval Base, located on the west side of the city, is the biggest naval port in Western Europe and also Plymouth’s biggest employer. “The SST400 is one of our most versatile industrial steam turbines,” said Markus Tacke, CEO of the Industrial Power Business Unit within Siemens Energy. “With an installed capacity of up to 25 MW, the flexible steam turbine has proven itself to be a costeffective and environmentally friendly solution in a wide variety of applications.”

mogelijk is.

is boven verwachting goed gegaan."

Hansen Protection launch
a new work suit!
Hansen Protection AS is the direct continuance of Helly Hansen PRO AS. Our history dates back many years. Helly Juell Hansen founded his original "Impregnated clothing and tarpaulin factory" in Moss in 1877. Thus the foundation for the development and core business of Hansen Protection AS was laid. Hansen Protection is a high-technology company that over the years has developed some of the most advanced survival & immersion suits available for protecting lives - at or in the sea. More than 250 000 suits have been exported to more than 20 countries throughout the world. We are proud to present the new SeaWind suit which is tailored specifically for the emerging offshore windmill industry and rope access technique workers. Main goals in the design and development process has been to meet the requirements of the demanding personnel performing the maintenance and inspection work on the offshore wind mills. In this process we have also seen that many of the same requirements are valid also for workers exposed to tough and risky environments on offshore oil installations. In the process we have evaluated the normal work procedures in close cooperation with personnel engaged the wind farm industry and rope access technique workers. Good knowledge of the actual work situation has put us in the position to develop a construction with a balanced combination of functionality and safety.
Key features built into the SeaWind suit to It has been important for us meet these requirements are: that the suit should be easy to wear and thus be worn at all times as a coverall to Ergonomy – pre-shaped construction improve efficiency and with 100% freedom of movement convenience for the user. Wintershall increases oil production in Aitingen Aitingen/Schwabmünchen. Wintershall is continuing to invest in domestic oil production: between November 2011 and January 2012 the company sunk the new wells “Aitingen Süd 2”, “Schwabmünchen 7” and “Aitingen Nord-Ost 1” in the Alpine foothills south of Augsburg. All three wells struck oil. The crude oil from “Aitingen Süd 2” and “Schwabmünchen 7” will flow via steel pipeline to the operations in Aitingen from May 2012, where it will be treated and then transported to the refinery in Lingen. The exploration well “Aitingen NordOst 1” will first undergo a test in April to provide information on the possible production volumes. The wholly owned BASF subsidiary Wintershall has invested around 7.5 million euros in the wells. “The new wells aim to increase the previous annual production volumes and secure production for the next 20 years,” Rainer Ihl, Manager of Wintershall’s production site in Aitingen, explained. The company has been operating the production region south of Augsburg since 1979. In 2011 around 30,000 tons of crude oil were produced in Ait-ingen
and Schwabmünchen. The new discoveries bring the total number of production wells by Wintershall in the Alpine foothills to ten. In its exploration for further crude oil deposits in the Alpine foothills, Wintershall is now using an innovative process that can make the search for hydrocarbons faster and much more cost-efficient. Ex-perts plan to measure electromagnetic fields in a predefined area from a helicopter using measuring antennas attached to the helicopter skids. The experts expect to find electromagnetic fields in a certain frequency range in places where hydrocarbons are con-tained in the ground. This is because under the influence of natural ground vibrations the mixture of hydrocarbons and the water-salt-mix contained in the ground beneath the surface generates a characteristic vibration pattern, which creates special electromagnetic fields – and which can be measured. The process does not involve any intervention in the natural surroundings. The experts are merely measuring fields that

already exist. “We are not able to determine with certainty whether hydrocarbons exist in the ground’s structures with the seismic methods previously applied; we can only make assumptions,” Marcel Eckard, geophysi-cist at Wintershall, explains. But the new method could possibly prove the existence of hydrocarbons in the subterranean structures more directly. “In the end wells are always required to determine whether crude oil or natural gas does actually exist.” The flights over the Alpine foothills are planned for a few days from 29 February up to and including 5 March. An area covering 93 square kilometers including Großaitingen, Kleinaitingen, Graben and parts of Wehringen will be surveyed. The helicopter will fly lines in a north-south direction at a speed of 25 to 35 kilometers per hour and with a gap of 100 meters. The flying altitude will be 25 to 50 meters. In built-up areas the altitude will increase 150 to 300 meters. All flights will be made in daylight only.
Growing optimism and challenging frontiers make exeptional talent a valuable commodity Industry responds to buoyancy with innovative measures designed to tackle the skills shortage 20 February 2012: Despite the economic downturn being experienced globally, 2012 is set to be an exciting year for companies operating in the oil and gas industry. There is a real sense of optimism, with renewed confidence around the world. Surging demand for oil and natural gas means that commodity values continue to remain high, despite political tensions in key regions, increasingly demanding exploratory environments and the resultant impact of rising costs on operators. Regardless of these factors, the industry is nothing short of vibrant.

Expro has been awarded its single biggest power connector order to date with a contract worth in the region of £7.3million. Aker Solutions, of Norway, has ordered high-voltage subsea connectors for the subsea gas compression system the company is developing for Statoil at the Åsgard field, which is located 124 miles offshore of Norway, in the Halten bank of the Norwegian Sea. The Åsgard project is a highly significant win for Expro as not only is it Expro Connectors & Measurements single largest power connector order to date, but also on a project which is to supply the world’s first subsea gas compression (SSGC) system, which will be released in 2014. Expro Connectors & Measurements will be supplying the high-voltage SpecTRON 5 and SpecTRON 10 systems which will provide power to the subsea pump systems of the Åsgard SSGC project. industry remains fundamentally attractive. Energy demand continues to grow and oil and gas look set to remain important parts of the energy mix for the foreseeable future, with many of the world’s largest finds being discovered, creating new energy hubs.
Fabrication, operations and production personnel are amongst the highest in demand, but given the increasingly technical nature of offshore exploration in the UKCS, professional sciences and engineering credentials are also highly valuable and proving difficult to find.
and pay rates in the oil and gas industry (H1) 2012, suggests that the real challenge this year will be in preparing for the future, ensuring the continued flow of adequately skilled professionals.
Caspian, Europe and the Middle East will remain high, with the expectation for both contract and salaried pay rates to increase as a result across a number of these regions.
This buoyancy is reflected in the jobs market too, according to the latest joint report from OilCareers. com, the international jobs board for the oil and gas industry, and partner Air Energi, a global provider of manpower solutions to the energy sector.
While the ‘great crew change’ remains high on the agenda, there are signs that the industry is beginning to take its role more seriously by making attempts to combat the issue. Solutions are innovative and wide-ranging; from internships and virtual mentorship, to supplementary offsite education programmes and more flexible government allowances towards working retirees.
For the UK, 2012 was met with welcome news, as 46 new production licences were handed our during the country’s most recent licensing round. This is evidence of a revival in domestic activity, and will ward off pressure from other countries, Australia in particular.

Scandinavia too, is enjoying renewed success, with the focus switching from maximising existing reserves to new discoveries. Three major finds by Statoil, as well as a historically large licensing round, have reaffirmed the region’s position as a leader in the industry. Mainland Europe paints a slightly different picture. A few cautious approaches to staffing have been observed, with a slight preference towards contractors. This will allow companies to be more flexible, enabling them to make rapid adjustments to headcount as required, in response to some continued uncertainty around the economy. Mark Guest, managing director of OilCareers.com, said: “Despite all the challenges, I believe our
Mike Friars, SpecTRON product manager, said: “The award of the Åsgard SSGC contract is a fantastic achievement and is testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone at Expro Connectors & Measurements. To be selected to supply our products on this prestigious and ground-breaking project again acknowledges our expertise and reputation as a market leader in the supply of high-voltage subsea connector systems.” Expro Connectors & Measurements are recognised as a world leader in its field; providing subsea connectors for global oil and gas projects spanning more than 30 years.
“A number of companies are developing unparalleled project queues this year, with such investments impacting positively on the employment market. We’re seeing examples of this through increased hiring globally and, with plenty of opportunities on the table it’s an exciting time to be involved in the energy sector.” Ian Langley, group executive chairman of Air Energi, added: “The Air Energi-OilCareers.com survey provides an indication of the trends that the industry can expect to see across the remainder of the year. “With increased exploration activity across all regions, a lack of suitably qualified labour will continue to remain a concern. Many companies, however, are now giving the long-standing skills gap their full attention, ensuring they have the capability to maximise the abundant opportunities on offer worldwide.”

Oil and gas professionals tip Australia to become world’s largest gas exporter by 2030
from across the world. Richard Palmer, GL Noble Denton’s country manager for Australia, said: “The result of this research reflects the rapid rise to prominence of Australia’s oil and gas industry and the optimism of its professional community as the country strives to become a world-leading oil and gas hub over the next 20 years. “Favourable economic conditions and high levels of confidence in Australia’s energy future will fuel further capital expenditure within the industry, propelling the development of new LNG projects at an unprecedented rate.” Australia currently stands as the world’s fourth largest exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG) after Qatar, Indonesia and Malaysia. The country is the tenth largest exporter of natural gas overall, with the market dominated by Russian export.
Delegates at the 2012 Australasian Oil and Gas Conference forecast huge growth in Australia’s role in the energy markets, tipping the country to become the largest gas exporter by 2030, according to a poll conducted by GL Noble Denton. Australasian Oil and Gas Conference, Perth – 23 February 2012: Oil and gas industry professionals are confident in
Australia’s ability to become the world’s largest gas exporter according to a poll conducted yesterday at the Australasian Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition (AOG) in Perth. 84% of participants said that Australia would grow to become the premium exporter of gas by 2030, while 16% thought that it would not. The Industry Snapshot Poll was conducted by global independent technical advisor GL Noble Denton on the first day of AOG, which is expected to attract more than 11,000 industry professionals
Australia’s rapid growth in gas production has led to a strong increase in demand for GL Noble Denton’s technical advisory services over recent years. Last year, the company announced a landmark deal with leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer QGC, to supply inspection services for the installation of the 540 kilometre underground line between natural gas fields in the Surat Basin and a natural gas liquefaction plant on Curtis Island on Queensland’s coast. The venture is expected to further boost the country’s reputation as a leading producer and exporter of natural gas.

T.O.S. conducts high speed ship delivery services for Svitzer Americas T.O.S. (Transport & Offshore Services) and Svitzer Americas have done business for a while now. Over the last five years many tug boats were delivered to North America and South America. Because of this cooperation T.O.S. was able to conduct high speed ship delivery services for the Svitzer Kestrel.
It only took two days from inquiry to a signed order for the delivery of the Svitzer Kestrel. Within days the crew left for Singapore together with Victor Mees, Senior Consultant Nautical & Technical at T.O.S. The preparation for the departure started from a
‘layed up’ with all systems down. The tug was moored in Singapore for a month without any electricity. In close cooperation with Svitzer Americas and the trained delivery crew, the job was carried out in a couple of days.
Last Sunday, on the 19th of February, the Svitzer Kestrel left the port of Singapore for a voyage of approximately two months, via Cape town with final destination in the Caribbean.

Baker Hughes Opens Unconventional Resources Research and Technology Center in Dhahran The Baker Hughes Dhahran Research and Technology Center opens its doors today with a focus on research and development of new technologies to unlock the potential of unconventional resources. The newly constructed, world-class technology and research center is the result of years of planning and a partnership between Baker Hughes (NYSE:BHI) and Saudi Aramco that sets out to solve the challenges in world energy production, said Baker Hughes' President and Chief Executive Officer Martin Craighead. "Baker Hughes has made massive technological advances in unconventional resources, and as a result we have completely redefined the baseline," Craighead said. "We recognize that the key to success and performance in unconventionals lies in the decisions made in the early phases of development. At Baker Hughes, we have established a multidisciplinary,
integrated approach to understanding and analyzing shale reserves that allows us to model and predict how reservoirs will perform." Amin H. Nasser, Senior Vice President, Upstream, Saudi Aramco said: "We congratulate Baker Hughes on the opening of the unconventional resources research and technology center, which clearly demonstrates a long term commitment in meeting the world's energy challenges. For Saudi Aramco, the center is an example of our strategy to capitalize and strengthen mutually beneficial collaborative opportunities with international companies, and additionally, it will help to further leverage and develop our intellectual capital and technological capabilities."
The new research and technology center brings together the competencies of Baker Hughes' engineers and scientists with those from the oil and gas industry of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals to develop application-specific solutions. The center is strategically located at the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Science Park at Dhahran Techno-Valley. "The commitment of this center to offer research opportunities for students and post-graduates in different focus areas, ranging from petrophysics, drilling, geomechanics, fluids and production technology is important to the continued success of the Techno-Valley," said H.E. Dr. Khaled Al Sultan, Rector of the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. "The opportunities and cooperative experience
in science and engineering studies demonstrate the spirit of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Science Park." Offering state-of-the-art rock and fluids laboratories, the center provides the equipment required to further the understanding of the complex science and technology involved in developing unconventional resources. "By first understanding the reservoir, we have had great success in accessing shale gas in a cost efficient manner in North America, ensuring stability and enabling further economic growth by assisting with the supply of energy to a growing world population," Craighead added. "While our new research and technology center addresses specific challenges unique to unconventional resources, it also will provide research facilities and collaboration opportunities for other applications."
The new technology center further expands Baker Hughes' infrastructure in the Kingdom. Baker Hughes also has a manufacturing plant that opened last year and a 100,000-square-meter operations center that opened in 2010. The operations center houses labs, offices, repair and maintenance facilities, as well as a remote collaboration center. Baker Hughes is a leading supplier of oilfield services, products, technology and systems to the worldwide oil and natural gas industry. The company's 57,000-plus employees today work in more than 80 countries helping customers find, evaluate, drill, produce, transport and process hydrocarbon resources. Dana strengthens position in Central North Sea with Bittern acquisition Dana Petroleum plc (‘Dana’), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Korea National Oil Corporation (‘KNOC’) has reached an agreement with Hess Corporation (‘Hess’) to acquire Hess’ 28.3% interest in the Bittern field, increasing Dana’s share to 33%. Fairmount Summit delivers drilling rig Delba III in Brazil Tug Fairmount Summit has delivered the new build drilling rig ODN Delba III safely from the Persian Gulf to a location offshore Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The total voyage over a distance of 10,625 miles was performed with an average speed of 6.0 knots. ODN Delba III is a semi submersible drilling rig for deep water operations build in Abu Dhabi for Odebrecht Drilling Services, part of Odebrecht S.A., a leading Brazilian multinational. Odebrecht contracted Fairmount Marine to tow ODN Delba III from Muscat, Oman, to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For this job the Fairmount Summit was mobilized to the Persian Gulf. During the towage at a stopover at Cape Town, South Africa, some cargo runs were performed by the also contracted Fairmount Fuji. This multi-purpose DSV/ supply vessel had just returned
to Cape Town after a survey job on the Atlantic Ocean. The towage of ODN Delba III was Fairmount Marine’s second successful operation for Odebrecht in a short period. Earlier Fairmount Marine performed the towage of semi submersible drilling rig Norbe VI, a sister unit of ODN Delba II, for Odebrecht. Fairmount Marine is a marine contractor for ocean towage
and heavy lift transportation, headquartered in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Fairmount’s fleet of tugs consists of five modern super tugs of 205 tons bollard pull each, especially designed for long distance towing, and a multipurpose support vessel. Fairmount Marine is part of Louis Dreyfus Armateurs Group.
Under KNOC, Dana is focused on increasing production and reserves in the UK and internationally while positioning Dana as a partner of choice in its chosen markets. The transaction will add a further 2 mmboe per year to Dana’s UK production, with 5,500 boepd expected in 2012. This will bring our total UK production volume to 17 mmboe per year in 2012, an increase of 14% on 2011. Dana Petroleum’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr Marcus Richards said: “This is a significant deal for Dana, which supports our goal to double production to more than 100,000 boepd by 2016, as we strive to become a leading international oil and gas company operating in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. “This acquisition consolidates Dana’s existing position in these high-quality assets. The synergies realised from Dana’s desire to operate both the Greater Guillemot Area subsea facilities and the Triton FPSO will help us maximise value from our interests in the Central North Sea. “We have made extensive preparations, working closely with Hess, to enable a smooth transition should Dana become the new operator of the Triton FPSO.” The Bittern field is located around 200km east of Aberdeen in the Central North Sea. The Bittern Field partners are Dana (33%), Shell UK Ltd (25%), Shell EP Offshore Ventures (14.6%), Endeavour (2.4%) and ExxonMobil (25%).
