Clyde Blowers Capital acquires US company Energy Services International Embargo: Immediate release Clyde Blowers Capital today announced the acquisition of American company Energy Services International (ESI) - a provider of specialist products and services to the oil & gas industry.

The $20m (£13m) deal also includ ESI’s trading businesses Southern Technology and Services and Vicksburg Marine.

ESI, which is based in Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana, has a strong presence in the Gulf of Mexico - but Jim McColl, Clyde Blowers Capital chairman and CEO, revealed that a priority for the latest addition to his portfolio would be looking into the setting up of a service centre in Aberdeen.

He said: “ESI has an excellent reputation for service and quality, with industry-leading service levels, and it is ripe for growth.

The company had a turnover of $20m (£13m) last year, and we are confident we will increase that to $100m (£65m) over the next three to five years, with a great opportunity to expand initially into the North Sea and the Middle East. Over the period we envisage investing up to another $40m (£26m) in ESI, and the Aberdeen service centre would be the first move in that investment.

“We see great potential to transform it into a global operation by offering an extended range of services to our customers and growing our geographic footprint, both through acquisition and organic growth. We will also export ESI’s capabilities into other key oil & gas regions across the world, including South East Asia and West Africa.”

ABERDEEN HARBOUR REMAINS THE BASE FOR BP’S NORTH SEA OPERATIONS Aberdeen Harbour Board has announced that BP has agreed to extend its presence at the port for a further 10 years.

The agreement, worth an estimated £25 million to the Board over the term, will see BP continue to lease its Albert Quay base from Aberdeen Harbour for the next decade to support its operations in the North Sea and West of Shetland. With activity forecast to increase at the base the company has also elected to expand the area it will occupy.

Aberdeen Harbour chief executive, Colin Parker, said: “We welcome this very strong commitment by BP to the port and the very clear message it sends out regarding the longevity of the region’s oil and gas industry.”

Mark Hardie, BP’s UK Logistics Infrastructure Manager, said: “This award is another key component

A revolutionary underwater true north seeking inertial system, developed

by Aberdeen-based engineering company CDL for remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and many other subsea applications, has won a major award from the subsea industry.

The agreement with BP comes after a period of sustained growth and success for Aberdeen Harbour, which recently revealed an eight per cent increase in yearon-year traffic during 2012. Further growth at the start of this year helps to explain why the Harbour Board is currently engaged in a feasibility study looking at future expansion.

The company’s Tiny Optical Gyro System (TOGS) scooped the prestigious Subsea Industry Innovation and Technical Award, at the Subsea 2013 Awards Dinner, organised by Subsea UK and held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on Wednesday, February 6.

Colin Parker added: “BP’s commitment to Aberdeen Harbour underpins our current strength and the importance the port plays in the north east economy.”

From its development just 24 months ago, the system, which comprises a three axis fiber optic gyro, has rapidly become accepted as an international industry standard for ROVs which rely on heading and motion guidance to carry out essential operations.

Small and light weight, the TOGS has become an effective alternative to high cost, overly specified systems as well as lower cost ‘spinning mass’ gyroscopes which can be prone to reliability issues.

It can be used in many underwater operations, particularly where space is limited and, with no moving parts and excellent shock resistance, provides a high degree of robustness and longevity. The system outputs all 6 degrees of freedom measurements to accurately track all aspects of an ROV or vessel motion.

The surface variant of the system, TOGS-S, is fully IMO (International Maritime Organisation) certified for heading navigation for surface vessels up to 85 Knts.

Housing options for the system, which are available from the company’s bases in Aberdeen, Houston, Rio and Singapore, include a lightweight surface, 3,000m subsea, 4,000m subsea and 6,000m titanium. As an example, the 3,000m version weighs just 7kg.

CDL managing director Andy Doggett said: “The award from Subsea UK really reflects what an incredible impact TOGS has had on the global oil and gas ROV sector as an accurate, easy to use, low cost sensor. It is by far the

most widely used attitude heading reference system in the ROV market and is essentially the de facto standard product for use worldwide.

“Although TOGS has been widely accepted as a ROV sensor, it can be deployed in various applications, including land surveys, seismic aviation, pipeline pigging, vessel guidance and in the military.

“TOGS has generated considerable success for our business and we are constantly looking to further improve it. We recently launched TOGS2 which is 40% smaller and uses 50% less energy than the original system with 10 times the processing power, and we would expect even more developments in future.”

Siemens Energy has been awarded a contract for supplying turbo compressors and mechanical drive gas turbines for a major Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project in Malaysia. The project will help to improve overall plant efficiency and minimize gas flaring at the Petronas Bintulu LNG Plant in Sarawak, East Malaysia.

The target of the multimilliondollar LNG project is to re-liquefy excessive Boil-Off Gas (BOG) evaporating out of the LNG storage tanks, and currently flared. It will

deploy the world’s first gas-turbinedriven cryogenic-temperature BOG turbo compressor from Siemens.

“This order represents a major milestone for Siemens and the LNG industry,” says Adil Toubia, CEO of the Oil & Gas Division at Siemens Energy. “Instead of being flared, the boil-off gas will be re-liquefied, converted into LNG and routed back to the LNG storage tanks. The project benefits are immense since it will not only increase the LNG production rate and improve plant efficiency but

also significantly minimize greenhouse gas emissions.”

The LNG project in Sawarak is implemented by MLNG (Malaysia LNG), a subsidiary of Petronas.

Engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPC) is contracted to Munich-based LINDE Engineering.

These companies are thus pioneering world-scale Boil-Off Gas reliquification within LNG plants and are implementing technology from Siemens to improve efficiency and help to reach international emission standards.

“We will continue to implement innovative solutions and high-end technology to create value along the LNG chain,” said Adil Toubia.

“This order again also consolidates Siemens’ technology and market

leadership in cryogenic-temperature Boil-Off Gas compressors services, our strong presence for mid-size liquefaction and our flexibility to provide intelligent solutions for new markets as well.”

The scope of supply covers the engineering, manufacturing and testing of one tandem-casing, cryogenic-temperature BOG turbo compressor and one single-casing LNG-refrigerant turbo compressor.

Both compressors will be directdriven by Siemens SGT-700 mechanical drive gas turbines.

Project completion is expected in April 2014, the plant will start operation in October 2014.

LNG is a dynamic industry with demanding requirements such as process flexibility, energy efficiency or minimum installation space.

The compressor is equipped with

Variable Inlet Guide Vane (IGV) control technology which provides maximum flexibility in order to handle the BOG volume flow fluctuation range. Load balancing between BOG compressor and LNG Mixed Refrigerant compressor allows for utilizing identical mechanical drive gas turbines.

The SGT-700 handles high nitrogen content as it burns natural gas with up to 40 percent N2 (nitrogen) content. Furthermore, the Siemens solution reduces the installation space of the rotating equipment significantly.

The Bintulu LNG complex is one of the world’s largest LNG facilities.

The Petronas LNG Plant consists of three plants, with a combined capacity of 24 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

Dagny jacket awarded to Damen joins force Heerema Fabrication group shipping and Hudi Heerema Vlissingen to set another record breaking fabrication project of the largest launch jacket ever built at HFG

Heerema Fabrication Group’s Vlissingen yard in the Netherlands signed the Letter of Award with Statoil for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of a fixed jacket for the Dagny field development in the central part of the North Sea. Following the award to HFG’s engineering firm –HFG Engineering- for the FEED study of the Dagny jacket in October 2011, Heerema Vlissingen received the Letter of Award from Statoil for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of this 16,000 tons launch jacket and a pre-drilling module of 155 tons last Friday 1 February.

The Dagny jacket will be the largest launch jacket ever to be constructed at HFG’s Vlissingen fabrication facility. Heerema Vlissingen will start the fabrication of this challenging and record breaking jacket in November 2013 with a planned delivery in April 2015. The jacket will be approximately 142 meters tall with a footprint of 60 x 50 metres and a top of 40 x 30 meters. The pre-drilling wellhead deck of 14 x 14 x 4 meters, will accommodate the phased development of the Dagny field and will eventually be integrated into the topsides cellar deck.

“This assignment will expand once more the design and fabrication capacities of our organisation, after the successful

Tino continues: “Securing this contract will furthermore safeguard employment at our Vlissingen facility, which is currently fabricating four jackets, until the 2nd quarter of 2015.

According to VP Technology Cees Spaans of HFG: “Based on the various FEED concepts developed

by HFG Engineering, varying from lift jacket to launch jacket, Statoil selected the launch concept.

The fact that following this FEED study we have been awarded the EPC contract for the Dagny jacket after the successful Valemon jacket execution in 2011-2012, proves that our fabrication-driven engineering approach is the right direction.”

The Dagny field development is a gas, condensate and oil field, located in the Norwegian central part of the North Sea, about 30 kilometres northwest of Sleipner.

The Dagny field will be developed with a fixed platform in a water depth of 116 meters and will be tied into the Sleipner facilities for gas export with oil being transported by tankers.

VOS Sweet named at Oranjewerf Shiprepair Amsterdam Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) new Subsea Support Vessel was named at Oranjewerf Shiprepair Amsterdam, part of Damen Shipyards Group, on February 8th, 2013.

The vessel called at Oranjewerf early January after a voyage from China to The Netherlands to undergo a series of modifications at the shipyard.

VOS Sweet The new vessel is named after a Rolling Stones song. Among the various modifications Oranjewerf executed are the installation of a 24 tonnes crane and a fully equipped workplace in the aft. Further work included the positioning of an additional mast,

a new High Precision Acoustic Positioning (HiPAP) sonar, a Hadex unit with UV filters (a continuous disinfectant for drinking water) and various pipe laying work. After the naming ceremony at Oranjewerf the ship is now fit for deployment as a Subsea Support Vessel.

Vroon Offshore Services Since 45 years Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) has rendered many and varied maritime and offshore services. Having a fleet of over 100 vessels, the company can be considered as a leading player in operational areas in the North Sea, South-Europe and SouthEast Asia. Oranjewerf and VOS have a long standing business relationship, which ensured the successful completion of this project.

Damen aims at the maximum to think along with the client about adjusting certain aspects on board already deployed vessels.

Bouma in conclusion: “One can think of economical use of fuel, anticipation of legislation for treatment of ballast water, complying with emission directives and related issues.

DAMEN INTRODUCES ANTI-FOULING FOIL

Port of Amsterdam starts with sustainable film on patrol vessel Damen Shipyards (Gorinchem, Netherlands) and the Port of Amsterdam are launching a pilot project today to test Thorn-D®, a relatively new antifouling film that is applied to ships’ hulls below the water line. The film has an expected lifetime of five years. That is much longer than conventional antifouling coatings, which need to be replaced every six months on average. Dr Rik Breur, the founder of supplier Micanti, developed the film and tested it extensively on trial surfaces and work vessels. That attracted the attention of the Port of Amsterdam, which is concerned about the safety and sustainability of its vessels. “The film is an excellent additional application.”

Damen is applying the antifouling film to one of the Port’s patrol vessels today, and will complete the work on Tuesday. “We’re using two boats in the pilot project: one with the film and the other with a conventional antifouling coating,” says Willem Spoelstra of the Port of Amsterdam’s Nautical Division.

“The pilot will run for a year and we’ve agreed with Micanti that the film has to remain problem-free for at least two years.

They’ve given us certain guarantees concerning durability and so on, in any event. We can now assume that the film will not come off. The great thing about this test is that the two vessels will be operating in precisely the

same area. That’s ideal for a pilot project.”

The film is being marketed internationally under the brand name Thorn-D®. Breur, the managing director and owner of Micanti, and Eric Pieters, the firm’s commercial director and co-owner, can already point to their product’s proven performance.

Two vessels – one a tug belonging to Dutch company BMS Towing and another located in Florida – have already been operating for some time after application of the antifouling film. The film has so far been tested up to 30 knots.

“We can now say that we’ve achieved a breakthrough with our

application: we’ll be applying our film to a fleet of approximately fifteen work vessels and crew vessels in the months ahead,” says Pieters. “They include boats run by towing companies in the Netherlands, the Middle East and a tug owned by the Port of Los Angeles.”

It’s no surprise that Damen is involved in this innovation. The Dutch shipyard has shown itself to be in the vanguard when it comes to environmentally friendly, innovative and cost-efficient shipbuilding. It will no doubt be using the Thorn-D® antifouling film on more of its vessels.

Siemens to supply compression solutions for LNG plant in Malaysia •

World’s first gas-turbine-driven cryogenic-temperature BOG (Boil-Off Gas) turbo compressor from Siemens Siemens technology increases the efficiency of LNG production rate and minimizes greenhouse gas emissions Major milestone for Siemens and the LNG industry

Siemens Energy has been awarded a contract for supplying turbo compressors and mechanical drive gas turbines for a major Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project in Malaysia. The project will help to improve overall plant efficiency and minimize gas flaring at the Petronas Bintulu LNG Plant in Sarawak, East Malaysia.

The target of the multimilliondollar LNG project is to re-liquefy excessive Boil-Off Gas (BOG) evaporating out of the LNG storage tanks, and currently flared. It will deploy the world’s first gas-turbinedriven cryogenic-temperature BOG turbo compressor from Siemens.

“This order represents a major milestone for Siemens and the LNG industry,” says Adil Toubia, CEO of the Oil & Gas Division at Siemens Energy. “Instead of being flared, the boil-off gas will be re-liquefied, converted into LNG and routed back to the LNG storage tanks. The project benefits are immense since it will not only increase the LNG production rate and improve plant efficiency but also significantly minimize greenhouse gas emissions.”

The LNG project in Sawarak is implemented by MLNG (Malaysia LNG), a subsidiary of Petronas.

Engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPC) is contracted to Munich-based LINDE Engineering. These companies are thus pioneering world-scale Boil-Off Gas reliquification within LNG plants and are implementing technology from Siemens to improve efficiency and help to reach international emission standards.

“We will continue to implement innovative solutions and high-end technology to create value along the LNG chain,” said Adil Toubia.

“This order again also consolidates Siemens’ technology and market leadership in cryogenic-temperature Boil-Off Gas compressors services, our strong presence for mid-size liquefaction and our flexibility to provide intelligent solutions for new markets as well.”

The scope of supply covers the engineering, manufacturing and testing of one tandem-casing, cryogenic-temperature BOG turbo compressor and one single-casing LNG-refrigerant turbo compressor.

Both compressors will be directdriven by Siemens SGT-700 mechanical drive gas turbines.

Project completion is expected in April 2014, the plant will start operation in October 2014.

LNG is a dynamic industry with demanding requirements such as process flexibility, energy efficiency or minimum installation space.

The compressor is equipped with Variable Inlet Guide Vane (IGV) control technology which provides maximum flexibility in order to handle the BOG volume flow fluctuation range.

Load balancing between BOG compressor and LNG Mixed Refrigerant compressor allows for utilizing identical mechanical drive gas turbines. The SGT-700 handles high nitrogen content as it burns natural gas with up to 40 percent N2 (nitrogen) content. Furthermore, the Siemens solution reduces the installation space of the rotating equipment significantly.

The Bintulu LNG complex is one of the world’s largest LNG facilities.

The Petronas LNG Plant consists of three plants, with a combined capacity of 24 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

LOGANAIR LAUNCHES NEW MANCHESTER –DEN HELDER SERVICE New route expected to be hugely popular with oil and gas industry working from Dutch hub

Flybe franchise carrier Loganair has commenced ticket sales for a new weekday service, operating between Manchester Airport to Den Helder (De-Kooy) Airport in the Netherlands.

The flights to Den Helder, which serves as the Netherland’s offshore support hub, will operate on weekdays from March 4 2013 via Norwich.

Passengers will be able to leave Manchester at 8.55am arriving in Den Helder at 12.10pm, local time. A return service will depart Den Helder at 2.30pm, arriving into Manchester via Norwich at 4pm.

Expected to be popular with business passengers, the route will act as a transport linkage for personnel employed in the offshore oil and gas, maritime and horticultural sectors which are located in the Netherlands.

Fares to Den Helder will start from £99.99 one-way including all taxes and a free checked bag up to 20kgs in weight. Customers will also receive a generous 6kg

cabin baggage allowance as well as a choice of complimentary onboard snacks and refreshments served in-flight. The new route is an extension of the popular Manchester to Norwich service, which is flown 3 times every weekday, and once on a Sunday.

Loganair’s chief operating officer Phil Preston said: “We’re extremely happy to be once again extending our international network, launching a route which will be hugely attractive to those working in the oil and gas industries.

“The Manchester – Norwich service has already proven to be very successful and the new link with Den Helder will be an extremely useful service for passengers spread across the UK. With tickets now on sale and

the first flight taking off on March 4, the new route will no doubt be warmly welcomed by the many companies working out of the Dutch coastal city, while further bolstering Loganair’s offering from Manchester.”

Expositie Jan de Quelery in projectbureau Sail Den Helder 2013 De schitterende zeegezichten van de Zeeuwse schilder Jan de Quelery, maken het projectbureau tot een echt scheepvaartkantoor.

Deze schilder is bekend vanwege zijn gedetailleerde schilderijen van Tall Ships, waarbij het historische aspect strict bewaakt wordt.

Geboren in 1957 in Vlissingen, emigreerde hij in de late tachtiger jaren naar Nieuw-Zeeland, waar hij zijn eerste aquarellen maakte.

In 1989 keerde hij terug naar Vlissingen en legde zich volledig toe op nautische research en het schilderen van Tall Ships. De meeste afgebeeld met een sterke wind in de zeilen en op hoge

zeeën.

Zijn werk is geëxposeerd in diverse Europese landen, NieuwZeeland en de Verenigde Staten.

Het is tentoongesteld in exposities binnen musea, galeriën en internationale Sailmanifestaties.

Feestelijke opening projectbureau Onder de klanken van de Sea Side Jazzband stroomden de gasten binnen in het projectbureau van Sail Den Helder, dat sinds begin januari 2013 gevestigd is op Willemsoord 29. De officiële opening werd verricht door burgemeester Koen Schuiling, met de overhandiging van een scheepsmodel dat hij vorig jaar ontving van de Götheborg. Het model is in bruikleen gegeven aan het projectbureau.

Willemsoord BV heeft de ruimte in nr. 29 beschikbaar gesteld, waarbij de Sailorganisatie zich maximaal gaat inzetten om Willemsoord nadrukkelijk bij het evenement te betrekken. Dit zal o.a. zichtbaar worden door de aktiviteiten die op Willemsoord geconcentreerd worden, een aantal van de kleinere Tall Ships die hier worden afgemeerd en het grootste reuzenrad van Nederland op dit terrein. Willemsoord 29 is een goed voorbeeld, hoe de

historische gebouwen weer gebruikt kunnen worden.

Tijdens de informele bijeenkomst werden de medewerkers van het projectbureau voorgesteld en konden bestuurders, vrijwilligers en andere relaties binnen Sail Den Helder 2013 met elkaar

Kleurrijke Mexicanen ook naar Den Helder

Brazilianen komen ook naar Sail Den Helder 2013!

Met nieuwe bevestigingen van de schepenlijst groeit het aantal deelnemers aan Sail Den Helder 2013 nog steeds. Ook de Braziliaanse ‘Cisne Branco’ heeft haar komst bevestigd. Tijdens de Tall Ships Races in 2008 bezocht zij Den Helder voor de eerste keer.

Ook haar zusterschip, de ‘Stad Amsterdam’ zal deelnemen aan Sail Den Helder 2013.

Daarmee zullen de zwarte (Stad Amsterdam) en de witte (Witte Zwaan= Cisne Branco) zusters weer dicht bij elkaar komen. De ‘Shabab Oman’ (Oman) en de ‘Sagres’ (Portugal) zijn eveneens aangemeld, waarmee opnieuw bijzondere schepen worden toegevoegd. Nog steeds lopen er een aantal onderhandelingen over schepen die nog verwacht worden.

Intussen is een eerste planning

verschenen voor donderdag 20 juni 2013, wanneer de schepen op de Rede van Texel ten anker zullen liggen. Net als in de historische tijden ligt de vloot dan relatief dichter bij Texel dan bij Den Helder, hoewel de grootste windjammers goed zichtbaar zullen zijn vanaf de dijk. In het begin van de middag zullen een aantal schepen ankerop gaan. Dit geldt met name voor de Tall Ships die op Willemsoord zullen worden afgemeerd en een aantal grote schepen, die uiterlijk om 16.00 al op hun ligplaats moeten zijn. Daar tussendoor zullen talloze schepen en kleinere bootjes langs de vloot varen, om dit spektakel van dichtbij te kunnen waarnemen.

De unieke ervaring om met eigen ogen de historische vloot ten anker te zien liggen sluit aan bij

de hernieuwde belangstelling voor de Gouden Eeuw. De eenmalige ‘re-live’ van deze tijden maakt Sail Den Helder 2013 uniek en onderscheidt haar van andere Sail evenementen in Nederland.

Met de komst van de ‘Cuauthemoc’ uit Mexico zal het hart van velen sneller gaan kloppen in Den Helder.

Hiermee gaat een veelgehoorde hartewens in vervulling. Dit schip en haar bemanning maakte een onuitwisbare indruk in 2008, toen zij voor de eerste keer de havenstad bezocht. Met haar crew, staande op de ra’s in hun fraaie outfit, bracht de ‘Cuauthemoc’ een exotisch accent naar Den Helder waar nog steeds over gesproken wordt.In totaal bestaat de Sailvloot nu uit 30 schepen in de A- en B-klasse afkomstig uit alle windstreken.

Hieronder vallen ook een aantal prachtige Nederlandse Tall Ships.

Daarnaast hebben tientallen

schepen van het Varend Erfgoed zich aangemeld, die op en rond Willemsoord worden afgemeerd.

De grootste windjammers zullen een ligplaats vinden op het Marineterrein, de grote replica’s vinden een ligplaats aan de Nieuwe Diepkade. Sail Den Helder 2013 wordt gehouden in samenwerking met de Koninklijke Marine, die tegelijkertijd haar 525 jarig jubileum viert. Ook de Marinedagen 2013 vinden plaats in dezelfde periode. De verbinding van deze drie evenementen is van grote toegevoegde waarde en belooft een onvergetelijke ervaring te worden. A host of successes within the subsea sector were celebrated last night at Subsea UK’s seventh annual awards ceremony, which aims to recognise innovation and outstanding achievements across the UK subsea industry.

Leading oil and gas industry body ICoTA will turn its attention to Light Well Intervention vessels (LWI) and their operational capabilities for its next lunch and learn session, which will be hosted by its European chapter on Tuesday 19th February.

Sponsored by Forum Energy Technologies, the dinner attracted over 800 guests from across the sector and closed the opening day’s proceedings of Subsea 2013.

The firm, which is a global supplier of umbilicals and power cables, works across the energy market in renewables, oil and gas and has recently seen particularly strong growth in Europe.

The award for Emerging Talent, sponsored by Wood Group, was won by subsea engineer Paul Otway of Jee who was praised for his work on a variety of projects, including the design and assessment for the world’s longest subsea tieback.

Subsea Technologies Limited was awarded the New Enterprise award for the design and development of a range of subsea engineering solutions. The Aberdeen firm, which was established in 2010, has become known for creating bespoke products to a number of leading offshore operators.

The Innovation and Technology award, sponsored by Simmons & Co International, went to CDL. The firm, which was established in Aberdeen in 1998, has now extended its operations across

Hydratight picked up the Safety Leadership award, sponsored

by Apache, in recognition of its commitment to ensuring high levels of health and safety processes throughout all areas of the business as well as innovation in the training and development of staff.

This year’s Outstanding Contribution Award went to Mark Patterson, CEO of Nautronix.

After joining Nautronix in 1996, Mr Patterson oversaw the first public to private sale in Australia, de-listing Nautronix and becoming CEO in 2002.

Commenting on Mr Patterson’s award, Neil Gordon chief executive of Subsea UK, said: “Mark is a well-recognised and well-respected figure within the subsea industry and his award is thoroughly deserved. Not only has he contributed significantly to the industry over the course of his career, he has been responsible for making Nautronix

synonymous with cutting-edge, through water technology that is unrivalled. Mark has overseen Nautronix’s ambitious expansion plans to great success and has worked hard to position the firm as the leader in its field.”

Mr Gordon added: “These awards set out to recognise and reward those companies and individuals who continue to push the boundaries to ensure that the UK subsea sector leads the way globally.

“A highly impressive shortlist this year not only meant that it was tougher than ever to identify clear winners, but also demonstrated how robust the sector is. The winners represent the impressive range of talent and innovation that is keeping the UK subsea sector at the fore-front across the globe.”

Presented by Iain Morrice of Helix Well Ops UK, it will cover the equipment, packages and technology that is currently being used by vessels who conduct well intervention, as well as looking to what the future may look like for the industry.

Morrice will also share plans for coiled tubing operations from an LWI vessel in the North Sea with case studies of some of the regions biggest assets.

Proserv seals double North Sea contract wins Rapidly-evolving energy production technology services company Proserv has secured two major contract wins worth in excess of £15 million for work in the North Sea, further strengthening the company’s market-leading position in the subsea controls and communications field.

The first deal is with TAQA for the control of subsea wells approximately 16.5km from the Tern platform in the Cladhan field.

Proserv will implement a system to control three subsea wells as part of a significant development project for the company. Using Proserv’s proprietary Open Communications Controller (OCC) technology, the system will provide a high-speed network capable of communication speeds up to 1.3Mbps.

The second contract award is with another leading operator and also involves work to control the subsea wells. Proserv will use a cutting-edge system, which will control a number of wells and manifolds. This features a fibre-optic communications system using Proserv’s Open

Communications Hub (OCH) technology for fully transparent communications and high-speed data monitoring from the subsea multi-phase flow meters and control modules.

Commenting on the recent award wins, David Lamont, Proserv’s chief executive officer, said: “Both contract wins reflect Proserv’s industry-leading position and strong track record for delivering high-value integrated technology systems on time and within budget.
