There is also a café in the centre of the park if weather does not permit or people prefer. ‘Holland Park is about 22 hectares (54 acres) in area, and is considered one of the most romantic and peaceful parks of West London. The northern half or so of the park is semi-wild woodland, the central section around the ruins of Holland House is more formal with several garden areas including a famous orangery, a giant chess set, a cricket pitch, tennis courts, a Japanese garden, a youth hostel, one of London's best equipped children's playgrounds. We also hope to see squirrels, peacocks and cows. Tube Holland Park Station (Circle Line) about 20 minutes’ walk form there. The Campaign for Homosexual Equality (CHE) was the largest LGBT organisation ever in the UK. Amiable Warriors Volume One traces CHE from its origins in 1964 as a small law reform committee in Manchester to the point where it had become a nationwide grass-roots campaign with local groups in London and elsewhere. We will be looking at the sixth chapter of Shulamith Firestones’s ‘The Dialectic of Sex’ entitled ‘Love’. Copies of the text will be available at the group. However, the text is simply a springboard for discussion as discussion and our own live experience will be the main focus of the group.
