Monday 6 June Peer led coffee and tea social at The Breakfast Club in Battersea Rise The Breakfast Club, 5-9 Battersea Rise, London SW11 1HG The team from The Breakfast Club are providing free tea and coffee for ODL members at this peer led monthly social. Just turn up to meet other ODL members. Sometimes The Breakfast Club team will be able to pop in to say hello too. Travel: 0.5 miles walk from Clapham Junction Railway Station. Buses 35 and 37 pass Clapham Common Northern line underground station 1.1 miles away and stop outside the café at the “Eccles Road” bus stop. 4 – 6pm Mixed Tower Hamlets ODL East Drop-in An ODL event held at Positive East, 159 Mile End Rd, London E1 4AQ. Come and join our friendly East London afternoon social. We will include ‘A Voice for Older People’ as a regular slot in the last half hour of our drop-ins. This is an opportunity to give your views on services in Tower Hamlets, whether you live, work, or socialise in the borough and this will be fed back to the Older People’s Reference Group. FULL DAY WALK Mixed Exercise Walk Enfield Lock to White Water Centre and Waltham Abbey along the River Lea, Returning via Gunpowder Park.
There will be two main stops on route. White Water Centre which will be fun to visit especially on a hot day. If you’d like to end the walk there you’ll be able to. Or you can head on for the longer walk with a longer lunch, rest and sunbathing stop at Waltham Abbey where members can explore the town centre. You may choose to end the walk at Waltham Abbey whilst others can continue a longer walk stretching into the evening as we pass through Gunpowder Park back to Enfield Lock before stopping for a pint at the end. Cost: Please top up Oyster cards as there is transport in the middle of the walk which is outside the Freedom Pass zone. Meeting point: Enfield Lock Station. Walk start time: 11.30am Walk end time: 2.30 pm at Waltham Abbey. Or later in the evening for those who wish to have a longer walk. Page 2

Tony says: "They have assembled a wide range of different mechanical instruments, some loud and some quiet; fairground and cafe organs, musical boxes, gramophones, player pianos and two fully working cinema organs and lots more. A brief explanation of each instrument is given before it is played." Museum admission: £7/ £6 Meeting point: St. Pancras station by ticket barrier to platforms A and B. Join us for a fun day out at the seaside. We'll be taking the 10:37am train from London Bridge, arriving in Brighton at 11:48am. We will leave at 16:44 from Brighton, arriving back at London Bridge at 17:50. If you'd like to make your own way there please let me know and we will arrange a meeting spot in Brighton. We will meet at the main ticket office in the station at 10:10am. Members will need to buy their own train tickets. Much beloved by Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, our June walk takes us to one of London's three World Heritage Sites, Greenwich Maritime. In the hands of Greenwich expert Guide, Muhsin Mustafa, Peter and his team will be guided around the Cutty Sark, The Old Naval College, with its fabulous Painted Hall and Chapel, the Queen's House and the National Maritime Museum. Make a day of it by travelling on the river upon the fast and frequent Thames Clipper Services from any of its many piers. You can use its services by using your Oyster or Freedom Card, the latter simply requiring the payment of a £3.20 supplement from the ticket machines on the pier. For land lubbers, the Docklands Light Railway provides a scenic ride through the transformed London Docklands.
