SATURDAY 15TH NOVEMBER 2014 ANSTEY NOMADS F.C WELCOME STAPENHILL F.C TO DAVIDSONS HOMES PARK FOR TODAY’S LEAGUE GAME Graham Street Prims F.C. (condensed) HISTORY. Graham Street Prims were originally founded in 1904, being formed from a primitive Methodist Church from which they derived the name “Prims”. Graham Street itself is actually situated off Osmaston Road in the city of Derby and is close to the Baseball Ground, former home of Derby County F.C. until they moved to their new home at Pride Park. Prims were disbanded in 1914 due to the outbreak of the first world war. Prims were reformed in 1953 and achieved many honours, mainly in the Central Alliance, The East Midlands League and the Derbyshire Senior League. The finest years came between 1971 and 1981 when they won no less than fifteen major honours including seven Derbyshire FA Cup wins and eight League titles. Since the highly successful seasons of the 70’s and 80’s progress has been somewhat steady, to say the least, this has been mainly due to them competing with other local sides who are in a position to offer incentives to players, where we are clearly in no position to offer any form of payment. This inability to attract players seeking some form of remuneration caused Prims another problem with managers, resulting in them having EIGHT managers over a period of eighteen years. The 2013-14 seasons sees a new club structure launched and designed by Tony Collins to bring a more professional look to the committee and throughout the club. With everyone pulling in the right direction and if we can get the dressing room plans sorted the outlook for the club is very bright indeed. This season Prims will be competing in the FA Cup for the first time in their history as well as the FA Vase.
A full version of Graham Street Prims’ history is available on their website. It’s worth a read when you get home!

AROUND THE COUNTIES
by STAN WILTON
Six of the eleven games were lost to the terrific wet weather over the last couple of days, but the remaining five games rewarded the brave players and spectators with a total of 23 goals. Challengers ASHBY IVANHOE and HOLBROOK SPORTS were amongst those clubs out of action, so ST ANDREWS took the opportunity of increasing their lead at the top of the table with a 3-1 home win over a BORROWASH VICTORIA who put their off-field problems behind them to take a 19th minute lead through former Graham Street Prims front runner James Rushby. Perry Johnson levelled things up just one minute into the second half and Mitch Warner put the Saints ahead with 14 minutes left. As brave Vics pushed up for a point Dan Henfrey put the icing on the cake for the table toppers with a 90th minute third. SOUTH NORMANTON ATHLETIC failed in their bid to make ground as well going down at GEDLING MINERS WELFARE whose seventh win of the season takes them up to tenth. Tony Law broke the deadlock four minutes before the brake, and second half goals from Jack Hopper and Marlon Waites sealed a fine 3-0 win for the Miners. ARNOLD TOWN had to come from behind as well in their game at GRAHAM STREET PRIMS. Toby Howard had put the home side ahead as early as the second minute, and half a hour later Brett Staniland doubled the lead. But the Eagles dried their feathers and came out with talons raised for the second half. Luke Smith got them back in the game within six minutes of the restart, Danny Hayes levelled on the hour, Smith got his second of the game on 65 and Courtney Hastings got a fourth ten minutes from the end for a 4-2 victory. Steve Hart gave BARDON HILL a sixth minute advantage but Scott Mooney levelled within ten minutes for homesters HOLWELL SPORTS. Dan Chatfield put the Quarrymen back in front for the interval and Rich Hanslow extended the advantage seven minutes into the second period. Mooney got a second for Holwell but it wasn’t enough to prevent a 3-2 defeat. After a fine win last week RADCLIFFE OLYMPIC reverted to losing again despite having home advantage in their game against BLABY & WHETSTONE ATHLETIC. Stuart Verrall and Brett Marvin had put the visitors well on top in the first eleven minutes. Marvin got a second and his team’s third midway through the second half leaving Matt Gamble’s late goal for Olympic as nothing more than a consolation.

Post-Match with Rob Harris from our last game! 1-1. A very physical and exciting game tonight, what are your thoughts on tonight? Yeah it was physical, I think we started out poorly and conceded a really soft goal but after that we grew in stature as the game went on, at half time perhaps we should of gone in even-stevens and not a goal down. To start the second half and go down to ten men within 10 minutes, I think we showed great character to come back and earn a point. You mentioned going down to 10 men, how does that affect a team especially when you're down a goal? Fair play to the lads, I think they all raised the game, which I think they were really doing before the card anyway. I think the card was slightly harsh, there were some very strange decisions from the Ref but I'm not going to blame him for that. The sending off and the goal was mostly down to our own errors, and we seem to get punished for them. But we still showed good character and it was great to get a draw, and really we should or could of won the game. As you say it was great resiliency from the lads and to get that late goal did it feel like a win? Oh yes, they were buzzing in the changing rooms afterwards, everyone was. How many times this season have we played like that and lost, to actually get a point today is much more what we deserve. I think we've turned a corner and we're getting the results we should of been getting earlier on in the year, we've said many a time in our interviews that we've done well even when we've lost. Perhaps we should of even won today, but the amount of times we've said that when we've lost I'm just pleased to get a point and I'm pleased for the lads because they're buzzing. It's a shame we haven't got a game Saturday, but it gives us a breather for a week and we can get some good training done in preparation for the Stapenhill game and we'll see how we get on, and we'll watch the Reserves and hope we can get good results from them as well! Do you have any final comments Rob? Onwards and upwards, things are looking good. I agree, Thank you Rob. Thanks Reece. Interview and transcript by Reece Preston-Hayes.
