INTEGRATING LIFE POSTPANDEMIC BY JENNIFER MCCALLUM

What life will look like after the pandemic is unsure, but one thing we can probably agree on is the combined toll this has taken on both our business and personal lives. Our children are looking to us to give them reassurance that they will be reunited with classmates soon. They are hoping to go off to camp, get that first job, or resume their summer sports. But the closer to summer we get the more evident it is that these things cannot happen.

So, what exactly will life look like postpandemic? Will we pick up where we left off and spend our days rushing from work to home to our children's activities? Will we fall back into the same hustle with our work and bustle with our family? Will we head to the mall to shop every weekend, go out for dinner on Friday nights and host dinner parties? Will we jump right back into keeping up with the world instead of enjoying each moment and savouring the peace and quiet?

I asked a few moms what they will keep from their pandemic experience and what they will leave and here is what they said:

Keep: a stronger relationship with their spouse, Melina M.zoom calls with friends and family far away, Dana B. playing games after dinner, which we hadn't done in years, Dana B. walking the dogs every morning, Angie D. house projects, Dana B. time for reflection, Janet T. quality of our togetherness, long conversations, Sonja M. naps, workouts, Alyx M. being comfortable and honouring the need to have time apart, Claire C.

Leave: our education system before the pandemic, Melina M. the busyness of life, Jennifer M. the isolation, Melina M. and Angie D. taking hugs for granted, Joan P.

What will you leave behind postpandemic and what will you continue to do?

So how do we plan for post-pandemic now that we know what we want to keep from it and what we want to leave? One simple answer..."Continue to live the life that works for you and your family.

"If you are wondering how to do this, I have set out an overview of the steps that need to be taken to make sure you are continuing to live the life that best suits your family. 1. Hold Family Meetings weekly to stay connected and talk about what you like and what you don't like about your time together during the pandemic. 2. Create a contract to include items you want to keep as you move out of isolation. Have everyone from the family sign it. Once the world opens up fully again you may forget the things that you liked; writing it down will help keep you on track. 3. Be careful. Encourage your kids to continue to wash their hands frequently for at least 20 seconds. Notice how often they are touching their face and help them recognize when they are doing this. 4. Be kind. Not everyone will be ready to integrate into 'normal' activities. Never judge or shame someone that is not ready to interact and participate in daily life activities like they did before the pandemic. 5. Stay in touch with your older kids that will be heading back to college or university. These are unprecedented times and they will be doing their best to 'get back to normal' but may need your support to navigate their emotions. 6. Think about how you were not prepared for this pandemic and make a decision to be prepared if it happens again. Pandemicproof your work, stay healthy, and create a savings account and put money away each month for emergencies such as this.

Our Parent Coaches offer a FREE 30-minute, confidential call! Reach out to them at www.parentcoach.club If you are struggling with how your life will be affected post-pandemic, reach out for support. Our Parent Coaches can help you work through a range of emotions. They specialize in everything from college success to self-care, to marriage support and more. Most offer a 30minute free confidential chat to help you through life during and after the pandemic. Together we will be stronger and more prepared for our new and improved postpandemic lives. Just don't forget that you have all the power and control to create what that life will look like. It is, and always has been, in your hands. Sending love and strength and wisdom to you all! We have learned so much and now it is time to collectively make sure we live our best lives - in our own unique way!

PARENT & TEEN GUIDE

What do you do? I specialize in helping parents of kids ages 10-25 enjoy peaceful homes and relationships within their family. I do this with compassion and without judgment. This work is not about quick strategies, it's about working with the parent to create lasting, generational change in the family environment.

What issues do you deal with?

I have personally experienced and worked with teen pregnancy, adolescent addiction, anxiety, and depression.

How can you help? Together we work to identify the limiting beliefs your child's behavior is triggering inside of you and work through them to discover new beliefs that will better serve the parent/child relationship you are in. We work on parenting with rather than over your child.

What can I expect?

I always offer a 20-minute complimentary consultation in order to learn more about your unique family situation and to help you get to me and how I work with parents. I have a reasonable hourly rate, weekly custom packages, and I also offer an 8-week online course I will personally guide you through one module per week.

I am on Facebook at Real Life Parent Guide, you can text me anytime at 972-689-0250 to schedule our complimentary consultation.

What other parents say about Kim "Thank you for caring so much about my comfort on this journey...you pushed enough buttons to get stuff out and done, but not enough to cause dread. I am a better parent for having worked with you." ~Carmen, mom of two "You helped me understand my kids aren't acting and saying things just to hurt me, it is there way of showing me they are growing up and making decisions for themselves. 8 WAYS TO HAVE FUN AT HOME DURING A PANDEMIC BY APARNA VENKATARAMAN

Aparna Venkataraman is the founder of Beauty In Parenting and is a parent coach for babies, toddlers & teens who focuses on helping families feel more flow, joy and ease through sensory self-care, effective communication, meditation and breathwork and a mindset of empowerment. She values kindness, compassion, gratitude, motivation and humor through her coaching and sessions - download her free Calm & Clarity Guide to find focus at: bit.ly/ConfidentParent and learn more at: www.beautyinparenting.com

I know it can be not easy having less human interaction right now and also feeling worried about the future! During this pandemic, my family and I have transitioned from rearranging schedules with working from home to ways to incorporate new activities into our alreadyexisting weekly routines. I find that we are all happiest, sleep best, feel well and are most in tune communication-wise (a.k.a. less arguing, door slamming and stress) when we try to:

Laugh more about the little things (the inside jokes, things that come up daily) Move our bodies daily (individually or together) and actually honoring each family member's exercise plans (for example, one person may love the exercise bike twice a day while another enjoys time alone walking in nature or gardening) Have music on somewhere in our day (soft music during snack breaks/work; louder music during fun moments) Have a weekly theme or project that we can have fun with by the end of the week when we get really bored (and that may even build on communication and fine/gross motor skills for physical development) - this can be repurposing or creating something new

. A . M , l e i t n o M Sonja COLLEGE CONFIDENCE What do you do?

While maintaining a compassionate relationship, I train parents to become the best educator for their teens so they can feel confident about plans after high school.

What issues do you deal with?

I focus on communication skills and knowledge specific to helping your teens create a plan ready to implement as they approach high school graduation. Topics include college affordability, college admissions options, career training, identifying the right majors for teens, building the college list, college essay writing strategies, and so much more!

What can I expect? Let’s schedule a 30-minute call to talk about your needs and your starting point! We will determine which service plan is best for you which can include our: comprehensive workbook with action plans, templates, and agenda samples, online podcast training program if you are always on the go, 10-session online parent course, and/or one-to-one coaching

How can you help?

Helping teens plan their paths after high school can create tension and conflict in the home mostly because families are waiting too late to begin, or there isn’t enough information on what the options are, what requirements fulfill each option, and how to engage with teens to ignite their motivation to be active in making a plan. As an expert in the field of college admissions for 20 years, I will provide training and coaching that places teens at the center of planning. Parents and teens will no longer have to face this educational journey with uncertainty, worry, and confusion!

What other parents say about me “Sonja gave me the communication tools to allow me to take charge of the college process. I was familiar with the college application process, however was clueless on how to have impactful and meaningful conversations with my teen. My daughter and I are so much more closer! Thank you so much!” “I have been working with College Confidence for years and I truly will not work with anyone else. Sonja's experience is unmatched. She is professional and an expert in college admissions. She will not only advocate for your child, but will be a critical pillar in your family's journey. She's that good!” “Thank you again for your wonderful presentation/talk for our group. I feel we all (parents and students) learned quite a bit from you that night. My daughter and I both agreed the way you presented the college process, was with a lot of positive influence and enthusiasm. You made it sound challenging about writing ‘your story’ but in a way that made the girls feel special and that it is ok to like yourself and tell college why they would benefit from the you as the applicant. To go for it!”

3 Ways to Deepen the Connection with your Teenager

How Do you Give

Your Teen Space When You Are Stuck At Home By: Tia Fagan, Certified Parent Coach

Feeling boxed in this summer? Wishing you could meet your friends for lunch? Are the days dragging on? Missing the days when you could go out and about without thought? Many of us are feeling this way and for our teenagers take what you are feeling and multiply it by ten or more. Prior to the Covid19 Pandemic, it was simple for your teen to get the space they needed - they could go to a coffee shop, the movies, the mall, or to a friend’s house, but with quarantine most of us are mainly stuck at home. Therefore, the “space” that they used to have is not the same. Bottom line teenagers need space – not only physical space, but also mental/emotional space. Creating this space starts with taking with your teenager, here are some ideas to start the conversation:

1. Where? Are they wanting space alone, not just in their room? Perhaps they want some time in the living room alone where they can watch a movie or play video games without the rest of the family around? Maybe they want to be in their room uninterrupted for a few hours or in the kitchen without us hovering over them. What about outside spaces? 2. When? Is there are common time when having space is preferred? Perhaps they want the living room late at night when the house tends to be quieter? Or maybe in the middle of the day? What is their natural schedule like? 3. How? This is where collaboration is important. It’s a give and take, particularly around common spaces. Find out your teen’s preferred times and locations. Also identify your and other family members needs as well for space. Creating space doesn’t always mean someone is in a room alone, teens may want your physical presence but not the interaction. If that is the case, for some of the day agree to not interact with them unless they engage first. Decide together on a plan and try it out for a few days. Then come back to together to find out what is working and what is not. Adjust as needed and remember that the need for space goes BOTH ways!

Remember space isn’t always physical space needs, it also includes emotional/mental/energe tic space. Providing and allowing for more space often can create deeper connection as you support your teenager’s need for autonomy and an added benefit is their desire of wanting to spend time together may increase in the process. Space is needed by everyone in your home, regardless of age, so work together to support each other through this unusual time.

Creating space doesn’t always mean someone is in a room alone, teens may want your physical presence but not the interaction. Tia Fagan is a mom of twin daughters in college and a Parent Coach, certified by Dr. Shefali Tsabary in her Conscious Parenting MethodTM and the Jai Institute for Parenting. Tia believes that parenting with intention helps us create deeper connections with our teens that last a lifetime. TAKING CARE OF YOU IN A

PANDEMIC BY: DANA BAKER-WILLIAMS, PARENT AND TEEN COACH Right now it is really hard to relax and it's even harder to get a moment alone. In fact, in normal, non-pandemic times mom's only average 17 minutes alone anyway! But with everyone around all the time, I know I feel like that has shrunk to a negative number! That said, It's essential that we do care for ourselves— first, for our own well-being, but also because self-care also has huge payoffs for our kids. When we"fill their own cups," we have more patience, energy, and passion to share with our families. But there's even a more important reason--our kids are watching. If we don't do things for ourselves, make time for what's important to us, that's what they learn. That they aren't important and they should not come high on their own lists. This was brought home to me by my daughter yesterday.

She was at her internship and texted to say she's be staying a few extra hours. I knew she had things she wanted to do, so I said "you do know you can say no right?" She replied, yeah i guess but I feel so bad saying no. And boom--that goes right back onto my shoulders. Why? Because I am terrible at saying no. Terrible! Know something else I'm terrible at? Taking time for me, taking care of myself. My kids always say that. Thankfully my husband is very good at taking time for himself. So I was hoping we'd balance out....

Anyway, here are a few ideas to help you take care of you! When you get up in the morning, set yourself up for a good day. How do we do that? Here are three quick things to do. 1. Say 3 Things you are Exceedingly Grateful For - This sets your mindset. People are often said to “wake up on the wrong side of the bed,” but this gets you focused in a positive place and puts you in a solid mindset. 2. Say Two Things You Want To Crush That Day - What are two things you really want to get done or knock out of the park? You cannot hit a target if you don’t know what it is. Be specific and clear. 3. Close Your Eyes and Visualize - Picture yourself leaving your home, having good interactions, and getting things done. There is a reason that sports psychologists use visualization with athletes - it makes the outcomes more likely.

Design Your Morning Ritual What else could make you feel motivated and excited for the day? Think about including the following aspects: meditation, morning journaling or affirmations. Or simply listen to your favorite music while getting ready or sitting down with a cup of tea for 5 minutes to plan your day — whatever it is that gets you in the right mindset to tackle anything that comes your way.

"SAY 3 THINGS YOU ARE EXCEEDINGLY GRATEFUL FOR"

Relax and De-stress Super quick! 1. Find an essential oil or natural scent that makes you breath deeply it's so good. Lavender lotion, a peppermint candle, or some cedarwood dabbed on your temples or in a diffuser are great ways to nourish your soul. 2. Read a book - Maybe curl up with a blanket and a book instead of your phone. 3. Go for a Walk - Take a lunch time walk or a 5 min break at work to get some fresh air. 4. Stretch - We store tension and stress in our bodies and it takes a toll. Try downward dog or some full body stretch. Releasing the kinks makes a huge difference in how my body--and mind--feels. 5. Make yourself a nice drink like chamomile tea, hot chocolate, or juice—

and sip it slowly.

Do Something That Makes You Smile No explanation needed here. Figure out what makes you smile and make that a daily practice.

Schedule Soul Time What makes you feel cozy? Maybe it’s taking a bubble bath, reading or enjoying a good glass of wine. Maybe its even something like building a cozy nest fort that you can enjoy with or without your kids. Try spending some time with a friend;. Zoom, go for a walk or meet in your backyard, 6 feet apart. We all need time with our friends. Make a list of some of your favourite things and try to make one happen each week. Sometimes having a great day can be as simple as being open to it. Like what you read and want to know more? You can connect with Dana here!

Linda has also helped my teen-age daughter through many typical teen-age struggles. My daughter is a much happier person after her sessions with Linda. She works with Linda on a regular basis now and is doing amazing!! Thank you Linda for the work you do. My family is very grateful to have you on our side. Jennifer Funnell (Ontario, Canada) Linda is a gifted healer - she intuitively gets to the source of my obstacles and answers questions I didn't even know how to ask. I know that I can get on a call with her and I can trust that I'll feel better in just 60 minutes. She's helped guide me ‌.to follow my intuition and trust how to be in the flow. Before our session today, I felt untethered, lost in space, disconnected from my body - anxious, fearful, and overwhelmed - and definitely not creative! After our session I felt re-inspired, like a weight was lifted off my shoulders - and I felt connected to myself again. I highly recommend you go to Linda when you need help that you can't always put words to - she'll figure it out! -Jen Pillow (British Columbia, Canada) Working with Linda is a great experience overall. Coming in to sessions and working with Linda helped me clear my mind and really think rationally after. As well it calms and relaxes your mind and body during sessions. Working with Linda really helped me think about different aspects of situations, and working on finding out more about myself. After leaving I felt very positive and clear minded always looking forward to the next session. Nicholas ~ 18 years old (Ontario, Canada)

What other parents say about Deanne This work has transformed the way I see my teens and it has given me a gift to help them develop their confidence and achieve their goals.” –Deb Hemmaway I find that Deanne presents topics in a very positive, mindful and deliberate way. After the coaching calls I feel grounded and inspired to connect with my daughter in a new way. This is in contrast to some presentations when I leave feeling deflated and thinking “I should do this” or “I should be this”. – Jutta Shaw “This is really working! I’m glad I chose this coaching over therapy, because instead of ruminating over what’s not working, I have some clear, practical things that I can try” – Rebecca, mom of a high school aged son

Three things you can do right now to create an energetic connection with your teen. 1- Put your hand on your heart and take three slow, deep breaths 2- Envision a peaceful, connected moment with your teen in your mind’s eye 3- Send love out to your teen. What do you do?

I lead live and online parenting workshops, I coach over the phone, and I host a weekly podcast for parents called, The Joyful Courage Podcast.

What issues do you deal with?

My work is really focused on supporting parents with being ON the parenting journey. It is messy, and our teens are exploring who they are, making mistakes, and needing a healthy adult to be in relationship with through it all. An adult who is grounded and clear on how they want to show up and influence the situations they find themselves in with their kids.

How can you help?

There are so many ways to work with me. My weekly podcast is free and available to all through iTunes, Spotify, iheartradio, or anywhere you are currently listening to podcasts. I lead a quarterly program online for parents of teens that is based on Positive Discipline and being a part of an active community of parents on the raising teens journey. I recently published a book, Joyful Courage: Calming the Drama and Taking Control of Your Parenting Journey, that is being very well received, all about focusing in on our own self regulation. And I am available for one on one coaching as well. All of these offers can be found on my website - www.joyfulcoruage.com

What can I expect? Expect to feel seen and heard. I do free 15 minute explore calls that gives us time to see if we are a good fit for coaching. I always show up with authenticity and listening. I walk beside you on the path of parenting teens, and have deep respect for the process. I am all about personal growth and development, so you can expect to take a good hard look at what YOU are bringing to the current relationships in your life.

What other parents say about me

"Casey is an amazing coach and facilitator. She is organized, thoughtful, wise, and so vulnerable. I never felt like I was being judged and criticized. I just felt loved and encouraged to be the best parent I can be (mistakes and all!)." - Katie L. "Casey has extensive knowledge to share and an adept way of guiding you through processing what you've learned so you can use it in practical ways as you parent your teens." - Beth H "Working with Casey as a coach is one of the most powerful things my husband and I have done together with regards to parenting. Her kindness and welcoming presence put my husband right at ease and he quickly let his defensiveness down. This allowed for us both to come together and start developing a common language from which to parent." - Juliet P "Casey- you’re an exceptional coach and facilitator. I think it was Katie Lowry who said that you are meant to do this work and I wholeheartedly agree. Sometimes when you talk I feel like you’ve been inside my head. You’re also a really good listener and very genuine. You’ve really influenced the way I parent, and really the way I see myself as a person. Love you!" - Kaite S.

HOW TO STOP YELLING by Claire Cetti, Parent Coach

Wish you could stop yelling at your kids, but just can't? Feeling like yelling is the only way to get your kid's attention, to listen to you? Tired of the frustration, and guilt, you feel after you've lost your cool, yet again? Good news. There IS another way to reach your kids and seek resolution, no matter the situation, by spending time in connection rather than in conflict and coercion. And it begins with you.

Everything we do is a choice. This may be hard to hear, however, to effectively stop yelling the first step is to just stop. Even if you're mid yell, mid- frustration, agitation notice it, see it and choose to STOP. This choice to stop yourself creates the pause necessary to get you, and your brain thinking again. When we are in that space of yelling, frustration, aka trigger, we are hijacked, our brains are NOT thinking clearly. Recognizing our hijacked state is the beginning of turning things around from conflict to connection by way of accessing our brains again.

Wish you could stop yelling at your kids, but just can't?

“Recognizing our hijacked state is the beginning of turning things around from conflict to connection...

“Choose the relationship with your child over being right.”

Now that you can think clearly, you can now begin to see things clearly, take a look around and ask yourself what’s going on? What’s happening for you? What’s your agenda and what is the problem you are trying to solve? Ask the same questions about your child? They too have their agenda and problem they are trying to solve. By separating you from your child and the two different experiences happening at this moment, you are more able to problem solve OUTSIDE the emotions rather within all the emotions of the conflict together.

Once you understand what’s happening, effectively moving from conflict to connection requires another choice. Remember, everything we do is a choice. Choose the relationship with your child over being right. Yes, parents, you may be “right” and you want your child to know and learn the lesson at this moment. Release the need to be right, right now, and choose to be in a relationship with your child and their experience at this moment. Doing so allows you to flip the script from being about me, for both of you, to WE and how can we see this through, together. This incredibly powerful choice allows you to explore with your child what is happening for them and why. Engaging and authentically seeing your child’s perspective fills their deep need and desire to be seen, heard, validated, and understood, and THIS is what brings them to a place of being more receptive to YOU. It is in this place of connection that any correction, boundary, teaching, or problem you may be trying to solve can be resolved by way of spending this time in connection with your child rather than spending time in conflict. Will this get rid of all tantrums? Meltdowns? Disagreements? No, of course not. Your child is only human and a young one at that. However, these will likely become less intense because of the safety your child will feel from you through the pattern of connection you are creating with them when they are in those moments of big emotions.

Will this stop you from ever getting upset, angry, or triggered? No, you are only human too! However, your ability to recognize the onset of these triggers and your own emotions will likely allow you to more quickly choose the route to be in connection with your child over joining them in that initial place of chaos and conflict - leaving you more calm and confident as a parent and connected with your child.

About Claire Cetti, Parent Coach Claire helps mamas who desire to change the parenting patterns that are not serving them or their kids well, feel more calm, confident, and connected to their kids. You can find Claire here!

We are here for you! We are heading into the 6th month of the pandemic and it may not be over for some time yet. If you are wondering how to navigate life right now, please know that we are here for you. Our community of qualified Parent Coaches are ready to support you and walk with you through this challenging time. Reach out to them for a free 30-minute confidential call here!

Some Ideas to support your family during the pandemic... Pandemic-proof your work, stay healthy, and create a savings account and put money away each month for emergencies such as this.

Our Parent Coaches offer a FREE 30-minute, confidential call! Reach out to them at www.parentcoach.club

What clients say about me: "JoBeth was always there to help me, she taught me everything I need about the school and made sure I was involved, but besides being a great teacher, she is a great person and she helped me improve my personal life and my life at school. I am really grateful that she was my coach."- Lilibeth "Before even graduating high school, Mrs. Evans was already helping me figure life out. She helped me with many scholarships applications that allowed me to go to the University of Arkansas for FREE. As a graduation gift, she gave me a book called “The Total Money Makeover” by Dave Ramsey. Of course, as a freshman in college, I had no interest in anything other than enjoying my freedom and having fun. I started doing bad in school. I called Mrs. Evans one day & talked to her about what was going. She told me to “get my act together” and that we all knew that without my scholarships I wouldn’t be able to afford college. Mrs. Evans has always been an honest, caring, & extremely nice person. She is an amazing teacher and friend. Years later and that book is still helping me be better and more responsible."-Carla "Jo saved my life mentally and emotionally -- I have chronic OCD coupled with depression and anxiety, and Jo is the first mental health professional I've ever worked with who I have felt completely safe and not judged by - I will be forever grateful for her empathetic and therapeutic genius!"-Becca

What issues do you deal with? I deal with parent's feelings of guilt, shame, anger, anxiety, other relationships that get affected by the stress; and overall mental health of the parent.
