We Are #1 in PCA

C

Paul Raben, membership chair

A message to our members from the Board of Directors

ongratulations and thank you is in order to all the members of Gold Coast Region PCA. The year ending in December 2016 our region was the fastest growing region in all of North America and Puerto Rico! Here’s some background about this, every year PCA National keeps track of every region’s growth as it is an important indicator of the health of the club as a whole. They send out suggestions to help the regions grow their membership and maintain that growth. As an incentive they send out quarterly reports with the top ten regions’ standings in the number of new members gained. Gold Coast Region is regularly in

the top ten, sometimes in 10th, sometimes higher but always growing. As a reward PCA national gives a trophy and cash award at the Porsche Parade to the number one region, which this year is Gold Coast Region. Why we are thanking you the members, is because our region’s territory is only a part of the East coast of Florida which is a part of Zone 12. Furthermore Zone 12 is one of the smallest zones of the 14 total zones which means our growth is a very big achievement. So congratulations to all 2570+ members of Gold Coast Region and be happy knowing you are the reason we are number #1! Thank you.

President’s Corner Dan Doyle - President

Welcome to May! Summer is here!!!! April did not disappoint when it came to Porsche events! On April 8, the first ever Concours D’Elegance went off at Heritage Park in Plantation, Florida. Although this was its first year, the event will likely be one of the premier car shows in south Florida. Concours Co-Chairman, Peter Olliviere did a fantastic job putting on the event and everyone enjoyed seeing lots of nice cars and talking about Porsches. Steve and Dottie Kidd put on another amazing Autocross on April 22 at the BB&T Center in Sunrise. Attendance was high and everyone had a lot of fun learning how to control their cars on a tight course. Finally, on April 29-30, we had a Driver Education (“DE”) event at Homestead Miami Motor Speedway. Not only did students have a blast driving their cars at speed, we also had an Instructor

School and trained several new instructors. Recently, we’ve seen an upswing in new DE students and we’re trying to meet the need for additional instructors by running Instructor Schools in the background of regular DE events. It’s challenging but well worth the effort. My personal thanks to everyone that helped to put on all of the April events. GCR would not be what it is without you. We have a number of Porsche-related events lined up for May. On May 6, please join us for our bi-annual dine and drive to Triad Seafood over in Everglades City. All you can eat Stone Crabs – how can that be wrong???!!!! On May 20-21, we have a Driver Education (“DE”) event at Sebring International Raceway, one of the premier tracks in the state. Please join us for a DE or Autocross event, even if it’s only to watch. You might just find

yourself wanting to join in all the fun!!! Finally, Zonefest 2017 will be occurring in Tallahassee, Florida on May 27-28. If you haven’t had the opportunity to attend a Zonefest, please try to attend this one. Zonefest has all types of activities that are fun for the entire family! As usual, Porsches & Pancakes is on the first Saturday of the month. Please take some time to join other Porsche fans and talk about your favorite subjects: your car and Porsche! Also, we have our Thursday Socials on the third Thursday of every month where you can do the same thing! Please check your emails and the calendar on our website for updated times and locations. I encourage all of you to reach out to new members at each of these functions and make them feel welcome! Hope to see you all at some point in 2017! Drive smart!

Dan

Editor’s Notes We are # 1. What a great achievement for our region. Our membership growth rate was higher than any other PCA region during 2016! How did we get there? We have been slowly growing for many years but when our past president Ed Kohly was membership chair he looked for ways to improve our membership growth rate. The answer was more drive and dine social events. With the help of his wife Beena, our social chair, new events like the annual Key Largo Brunch, Porsches and Pancakes, and the Stone Crab Drive were created along with others. When Ed became president of the region he continued to work on membership growth and our present membership chair, Paul Raben continues to raise the bar with new member socials and special e-mails to keep

Roger Fabel- Editor

our membership up to date with our club events. Another big help in membership growth comes from our Porsche dealers and Kassette sponsors that promote the club to their customers. Our events continue to grow because of the support of our board and volunteers. Finally GCR is # 1 because of you and the more than 2500 members that support the club. Help us to continue growing by attending the events and providing feedback on what events you would like to see in the future. Thank you for your support. A big Congratulations to Beena and Ed Kohly on the birth of their first child. The 12 hours at Sebring event was the 65th running of this historical race in our region. The weather was perfect. We have a great article with photos by one of our

May 2017

club photo journalists, Alberto Pugliese to provide you coverage of the event. Those who attended the event were able to experience the PorschePlatz where many presentations on related Porsche topics were given. Attendees who parked in the Corral were treated to parade laps on the track. If you were in the event I have posted a video of the cars on You Tube. “Sebring 2017 Porscheplatz Parade Laps” If you are into RWB’s check out “RWB at Sebring” that I filmed at Porscheplatz. If you liked last years Pot Luck dinner at the Spangler’s where we were entertained by Frank and several other Grammy Award winning musicians, check out the flyer on pages 30-31. See you at our next event. Roger

FRIEDMAN SPIRIT AWARD GETS ITS START AT SEBRING STORY BY DAN SMITHYMAN

T

he 2017 version of the annual Sebring Club Race was special in many ways. For me personally it was like no other. Much to my surprise, I was presented with the first annual Alan Friedman Spirit Award for my contribution to the 48 Hours at Sebring over the years. To say that I was shocked and humbled is an understatement. Let me tell you, if I would have known that this was going to happen, I would have gotten a fresh haircut! Now, as it happens, the 24th running of the Club Race at Sebring was my 10th year as co-chairman. I have been hanging around for a while.

10

Die Porsche

Starting in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, I enjoyed my first few years at the event as just a driver. In 2003, when I accepted the office as DE Chairman for the Gold Coast region, I came to be the keeper of the track radios. This position apparently included an appointment to the 48HRS Committee as “communications officer…” Who knew? For the next few years, being on the committee was an honor, and really easy. All I had to do was show up, charge up, hand out the radios... then drive all weekend. Nice! Let me say that this position in no way prepared me for my next committee job.

Kassette |

May 2017

One dark and stormy night I got the call. The president of PCA national and the club racing big wigs were calling. They said they felt that the presidents of the two host regions should be co-chairs of the Sebring event. At that time I was president of the Gold Coast region, and my buddy, Dave Herndon, was president of the Suncoast region. Both of us had been on the committee for years. On the committee? Yes (that is one thing)... But co-chair? Oh sure. I hung out in the truck with former co-chair Don Busby timing pit stops the one year when the timing loop crashed. And, of course, I watched closely as my friend, Gold Coast

co-chair Dave Tabony, rode regally around the paddock in a golf cart with that cool hat on. I was pretty sure I could do that! But me, chairman? I don’t think so. I said “no thank you” more than once. With six months to go before the event, they hadn’t given up. It became apparent that Dave and I were going to co-chair one of the largest PCA club races in America, I was unsure, at best. The guys from national were convinced that this was a good idea. With 300 or so Porsche Club of America drivers coming from all over the country, a few pro race teams bringing the big buck cars, trucks and drivers... And two rookie chairmen. What could possibly go wrong? The one thing that made me think that we had any chance of averting total disaster was the committee. Ah yes, the amazing 48 Hours Committee. The committee is made up of a couple of dozen dedicated folks, all of whom have at least a few years at their respective positions. All know their jobs well and all have a major commitment to the event. Several of these amazing people have been on the 48Hours Committee much longer than I, some since the very beginning. One by one the committee members gave us their pledge of support, which meant a lot.

It all became fun for me... It all became fun for me the day I realized the truth. The truth was that I didn’t need to know everything about Club Racing. I just had to know who was supposed to know! “Umm, hey there Dan. I need to switch from the pink enduro to the black enduro and I was wondering about the eligibility of my co-driver.” A very short time ago I would have responded: ”Huh?”. But I now knew the formula! “Ah yes, that is a question for Nick. He is right over here.” “Hi there, we are here from Wisconsin as volunteers and don’t know what to do.” “Well then” was my enthusiastic response, “welcome to Florida! Jerry Daily is over

Vicki Earnshaw presenting the Friedman Spirt Award to Dan Smithyman at the Thursday night Awards Banquet

in registration and he can get you started. Climb on the golf cart and I will take you there.” Wow, the formula was working well! Now I just needed a t-shirt!!! “I might not know, but I know who knows!” My ability to delegate and trust my team became legendary. For the past ten years I have done exactly that, create space for some very talented folks to do what they do and be who they are. The magic of the 48Hours at Sebring is that it is a concerto produced by a group of unique individuals working

together as one. And so, it is on behalf of my colleagues on the 48Hours at Sebring Club Race Committee that I humbly accept the Friedman Spirit Award. Thank you l and I hope to see you again next year.

May 2017

Greetings and pictures from the 65th running of the 12 Hours of Sebring, the second round of the 2017 IMSA Championship. Unlike the FIA Championship in which Porsche also competes for top honors with the 919, Porsches only compete in the GT classes in the IMSA series. In the GT Le Mans category, tough competition has forced Porsche to break with tradition and the new 911 RSR is now a mid-engine car. This was necessary because the 911’s iconic rear engine configuration prevented the use of a rear diffuser, which all competitors have, to generate down-force and increase road-holding way beyond the level afforded by mechanical grip. PCNA entered two RSRs to compete against formidable adversaries: three Ford GTs from Ganassi Racing, two Corvettes C7.R, the Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE and two BMW M6 cars campaigned by the Rahal-Letterman team. It was a hard fought race, and the RSR showed much speed and had a real shot a victory for #911. Unfortunately, a wheel gun failure during a pit stop and later on a tire puncture meant a 7th place class finish. The RSR #912 finished 8th in class. Yet we remain confident that the new RSR will prove a winner and can’t wait for the next race. The #3 Corvette took first place followed by the #66 Ford GT and the #62 Ferrari.

Autocross Update

by Steve Kidd, Autocross Chair

Not much to cover in this issue since there were no GCR Autocrosses in March....However, that does not mean the regulars are sitting around watching their tires dry rot. Check other PCA regions and clubs for Autocrosses that may involve a longer drive, but will reward you with great fun and seat time. Dottie and I get a lot of questions from 1st time autocrossers regarding what to expect at their 1st event so I’ll try to address the most common question. If this proves popular, I’ll try to cover a different question every article. What can expect at my first AutoX? The short answer is learn and have fun. After registering and paying on line thru club registration, make sure you and your car are ready. Your car does not need the same type of technical inspection required in a DE but does require a look over at the AutoX site just to cover basic safety, including, but not limited to, tires (no cord showing),no fluid leads that would cause issues for you or others, a firm brake pedal, lug nuts torqued to factory specs, battery properly secured and seat belts. Tech inspections can either be accomplished by a roving team or tech line and always result in a sticker being affixed to your window if you pass. No go carts are allowed per PCA insurance regs and we will refund your registration fee if you don’t pass tech. We do allow nonporches to participate, so many 1st timers choose to bring their daily driver to their 1st event. Also know that the day is divided into run and work sessions and sometimes a “rest” session if we have around 50+ entries. During the work session, participants will be assigned to perform a helping function that does not involve driving. The most common function is working the course, meaning you are assigned a monitor one of 5-6 stations with several other workers to pick up cones that are knocked down, radio call in penalties such as off course or cone down. Work sessions can be 3090 minutes and in most cases everyone works 2 shifts, if they run 2 shifts.

Actually, this is where quite a bit of the learning takes place....by watching others, you can see what braking points, turn-in and apex locations result in the smoothest driving and best times. While I could write pages on this stuff, hopefully you get the idea and understand some of the basic expectations of good sportsmanship and what to anticipate. Know that GCR offers 1 AutoX school every year at our Sept. event at Sebring. Here we cover all the basics of driving theory, course walking, course working and a good amount of seat time with one of our patient and experienced instructors.....and loaner helmets can be provided. Here’s our tentative schedule for the balance of 2017, which is subject to change: #3 Saturday April 22 at BB&T Center in Sunrise. ...Increased registration rates at this and all BBT events, due to increase in site rental. Sunday May 28th in conjunction with Zonefest 2017 at a site in the Tallahassee area. Hopefully many of the regulars will mark this date on their calendars and participate not only in the AutoX, but also the whole Zonefest weekend. Not a series event, but there will be trophies for AX class winners #4 Saturday June 10th @ BBT center in Sunrise....last AutoX before the summer break. ********************************** ********************************** ********************************** ********************** #5 Saturday Sept 9th or 16th…We’re back at Sebring for fall opener…AX school in the AM, runs in the PM #6 Mid October @BBT ...historically one of our best attended events of the year #7 Mid November @BBT Our final event of the year and our typical PCA Ladies go free day Also plan on attending the Oktoberfast Zone challenge AutoX October 28-29 + 1 more Zone Challenge

Everyone is now required to pre register for any AutoX on Clubregistration.net… Please consult the GCR or Zone 12 website and Kassette for all Autocross photos & results. Porsche classes are loosely based on the PCR’s for medium size regions, with minor regional adjustments. The major difference will be the addition of SN (stock car/ novice driver) for men and ladies. These classes are strictly for newcomers only. Please see Steve for any car class questions or if you wish to run as a novice. We reserve the right to make additional class/ rule changes as needed. Our 2017 series are planned to be 7 events. To be eligible for an end of the year award, competitors must run in at least 4 events in the same class. Each competitor’s top 4 finishes will be calculated and an end of the year class champion and possibly runnerup (depending on class size) will be chosen. In case of a tie, additional events will be added until the tie is broken. Year-end class champion awards will be presented. No passengers except for an approved AX instructor driving or in the car instructing. Questions…..call Steve or Dottie Kidd 954-946-3196

I offer you my company’s full service

TV & Video production services at a significantly discounted rate. You see, it really is amazing to be a member of a very unique group of men and women who appreciate performance, style and the thrill of managing a sophisticated piece of machinery traveling at the ragged edge on a beautiful road somewhere in the world! Moreover, to the uninitiated, words do not communicate the feeling you get when the outline of the oncoming car becomes obvious, lights flash, heads nod as a brother or sister go screaming past. I

have had the distinct pleasure of enjoying thousands of those sweet moments as the very proud owner of a 1969, 912 ... that I purchased (as a very young guy) in 1970! Yes, I owned my 912 for over 46 years and YES, if that car could talk ... Through many years of SCCA/IMSA racing and thrashing my street 912 in every conceivable manner my love for our pedigree has only grown stronger and deeper. I appreciate excellence, performance and balls-to-the-wall fun, which is one of the reasons I have been

involved in a multi-year complete restoration of the 912 with the great folks at Foreign Affairs Motorsport. If you have any TV or video needs, please contact me to discuss your project. My company can produce anything from a 30 second commercial to a Web promotion to a full-blown two-hour documentary. We have our own independent studio in Lake Worth, Florida with a soundstage and complete green screen chroma-key facility that enables live studio programs we can broadcast anywhere in the world.

Bottom Line: My team and I promise you the same performance that we owners expect from our personal Poorsh ... oops, I mean from our beloved PORSCHE!!

Tech Corner :

The Boxster Story (part 1) Article by Pedro P. Bonilla, Tech Editor

The Porsche Boxster was presented to the automotive industry in 1993 as a prototype at the Detroit Auto Show. It quickly gained popularity as magazines articles spread the word of an entry-level, 2-seater, mid-engined Porsche.

At the time, to say that Porsche was struggling economically, would be a gross understatement. Porsche vehicle sales had declined sharply (from 50,000 units in 1986 to just under 14,000 in ’93), especially in the US, where Porsche sold 50% of its production. Porsche was going bankrupt! In 1993, Wendelin Wiedeking, an engineer and former head of production at Porsche was appointed CEO. One of his first moves was to bring in Japanese (Toyota) consultants into the manufacturing plant, which was perceived as an insult by most of the workers, since Toyota had just recently offered to purchase Porsche. Luckily the family was unwilling to sell.

36

Die Porsche

With the input from the consultants, Porsche streamlined its manufacturing, going to a JIT (just in time) production method which dictated the complete elimination of waste and producing just what is needed, when it’s needed and in the exact amount that it’s needed. Porsche entered into a new, modern, automated manufacturing era. Now, a sexy, new, entry-level Porsche was all that was required to restart sales. Porsche saw that the 2-seater roadster market was growing quickly, and looking at the highly successful Mazda Miata, which had been introduced in 1989, Porsche decided to follow suit. Drawing inspiration from the very successful 550 Spyder of the 1950s, Porsche officially introduced the Boxster. Based on recommendations from the Toyota consultants, Porsche also streamlined production in order to be more efficient so the Boxster was co-developed and co-engineered with the next-to-come Carrera 996. These were the first production water-cooled, flat-6 cars, and they shared many of their components. The Boxster became an instant success!

Between 1996 and 2003 it was Porsche’s best-selling model and has hence been dubbed: The car that saved Porsche. In 1996 Porsche had North American (Canada & USA) combined sales of 7,524 units. In ’97 it almost doubled sales to 13,731 units and by 2004 it had grown to 33,289 cars per year. This “instant” success was both a blessing and a curse. Porsche had to immediately open a second manufacturing facility (in Uusikauppunki, Finland) in order to keep up with demand since the Stuttgart facility was overwhelmed.

Kassette |

May 2017

The Boxster’s official model designation is 986 and its name comes from combining the words “boxer” (as in the engine configuration) and “roaster”.

It made its debut in Europe as a model year 1996 and then came to America in model year 1997. When it was introduced in the USA in 1997, its MSRP was $39,900.00. For 1997, 1998 and 1999 the Boxster was sold with a 2.5 liter flat-6, making 201 HP. It was available with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed Tiptronic and a myriad of factory options that would bloat the car’s price to typically $50,000 per unit. Several 986s were ordered with so many options that they easily surpassed $100,000 as their sticker price. With model year 2000, Porsche expanded the Boxster platform by offering 2 versions: The base Boxster and the more powerful Boxster S. The base’s power and torque were bumped as the engine now displaced 2.7 liters and made 217 HP. The “S” version had a displacement of 3.2 liters and made close to 250 HP but also included larger brakes and an extra radiator for better cooling the higher displacement engine. Also, these were now the e-gas cars, meaning that they had an electronically controlled throttle body vs. having a cableoperated one as in the earlier versions. Their MSRPs also grew to $41,430 and $49,930 respectively. These were still 986 cars and every

year Porsche made improvements in both power and torque and offered additional creature comforts not found in the earlier models, such as cup holders, glove compartments, glass rear windows, etc.

The last of the 986s were offered as model year 2004. They still maintained their previous engine displacements of 2.7 and 3.2 liters but their MRSPs kept growing to $42,600 and $51,600 for the base and S models respectively and a Special Edition S, dubbed the 550 Spyder was offered at $59,900 which included many factory options as “standard”.

The story of the Boxster doesn’t end there. Just its first generation, the 986. Throughout it’s history the 986 Boxster has been picked on and demeaned by some as “not a real Porsche”, “a chick car”, “a Porsche with panties” etc., etc., but as each year passed, it got better and better. When we mentioned that the instant success was also a curse we were also

referring to some of the quality issues that they went through initially. Because production was ramped up so quickly, Porsche did not inspect each and every engine block (as they had done before) prior to engine assembly. As a result, a number of “porous blocks” made it into production, later causing Porsche to have to replace those engines when their coolant mysteriously started disappearing. Because they did not want to lose those porous blocks and reduce Boxster production numbers it was decided to bore the cylinders out and place a steel sleeve which would solve the porosity in the blocks. Some time later some of those sleeved engines failed due to a “slipped sleeve” causing Porsche to have to replace some more engines. For those of us who have owned (and I still do) a first generation 986 Boxster, it has been a fabulous platform that is pure and simple incredibly fun to drive, whether at the track or on the street. The simplicity of the car together with its light weight and mid-engine placement has made it an icon. This doesn’t mean that it hasn’t been

There are se

without issues, as any other car. In particular the infamous IMS issue. But the good news is that the IMS issue can be solved and now that the 986 is a classic we are starting to find those who are restoring and preserving them for future generations. Since its inception the Boxster, unlike other classic Porsches had been depreciating year after year, and now, at 20, the depreciation has finally stopped. According to Hagerty Classic Insurance Company, values of the 986 have leveled off and they are expect to climb. So if you have thought about owning one, now is the time, before they start to appreciate in value as they rightfully should. Sometime down the road we’ll bring you the 2nd (and 3rd) part of the Boxster Story. For more information on Boxsters and more, please visit my website: www PedrosGarage.com. Happy Porsche’ing, Pedro Correction to last months article “Tech Tactics” The correct lap time for the 2017 Panamera Turbo on the Nurburgrng’s Nordscheife was 7 minutes and 38 seconds. Adventures of your Zone 12 Representative March Madness Part 1 As some of you know, my position as PCA Zone 12 Representative requires me to do quite a bit of traveling and March is one of the busiest months. This March was so engaging I decided to write a 2 part article and share my experiences. This article covers the 1st and 2nd weekends in March, while part II next month will cover the 3rd and 4th weekends. Backing up a bit, Quarter 1 for our zone has always been chock full of activities. While many of the other PCA Zones suffer thru cold weather and snow, our 10 regions are blessed with mild weather and the perfect time for outdoor activities. March started off with 3 activities on March 4th. First of all was a Porsches and Pancakes with our Northernmost members in Stuart. Many thanks to Ted and Pat Tiemeyer for organizing this group and keeping this activity alive and well. As with all the events we visited, Dottie and I spread the word about upcoming major events.... especially Zonefest, our premier Multi region event held over Memorial Day weekend.... This year hosted by North Florida Region in Tallahassee. After breakfast, we were back on the road again to visit Space Coast Region’s new Autox site in Melbourne. While we arrived too late to participate, we did get a premier showing of their new AutoX site, the parking lot for the BRAND NEW American Muscle Car Museum. The site proved to be very safe and their new timing equip worked great. Space Coast Region’s events are posted on our Zone 12 calendar so check often and hope to see you at one of their Autocrosses later in the year. Our final stop was to pay a visit to GCR’s oldest member, Billy Grabowski. Billy and Rusty live in Port St Lucie and they say Hi to all our Members. Billy is just a few birthdays away from 100 years old and the same old Billy we all know and love …. just slowing down a bit, but as many of you know Billy was a competitive autocrosser up until age 92!

40

Die Porsche

Trivia Question …...What what Billy’s G’s last Porsche? Sunday, March 5th was a little less hectic, but still a lot of miles and smiles. The alarm clock went off at 5:30, to be out the door by 5:50, with GT3 in tow. While Gulfcoast autocrossers is not a PCA event, per se, lots of PCA members appreciate this world class AX site and make the trip over to Ft. Meyers on the 1st Sunday of most months. Lots of friendly competition among the seasoned Porsche drivers on what I believe is the best AX site in Florida. Buckingham airport has grippy concrete and courses about a mile long. More opportunity to promote Zonefest, keep abreast of other clubs, as well as exercise the GT3. Now for the piece many of you have been waiting for.... Werks Reunion @ Amelia Island. There has been much written already about this event so I’ll focus on some of the behind the scenes stuff. Overall, the 1st east coast Werks exceeded all expectations....A terrific showing of truly great Porsches in a great venue with fabulous weather. Because the event was on a Friday, March 10th, Werks “only” had about 700 cars …. more than double what was originally anticipated. Werks is not a concours, but a gathering of beautiful Porsches. The Judged class was limited to around 150 cars and was about presentation, rather than how shiny each bolt was polished. A big difference from Parade level concours where the judging form is 7-10 pages rather than the simple 1 page form used at Werks. Dottie and I had made 2 site visits to the Omni at Amelia Island over the past year and participated in several conference calls and tons of e-mail in preparation for our part. The Werks weekend started about 3:00 AM on Thursday driving from home to be on site and help with goodie bag stuffing, then sign assembly, and finally site layout for the judged cars (Gold Coasters Roger Fabel, Dottie and I did the layout following an intricate set of plans that had a place for

Kassette |

May 2017

by Steve Kidd, Zone Rep

each judged car registered). Friday morning saw us on site before sunrise. While Roger and I placed cars, Dottie worked with the registration team to make sure all volunteers got their assignments and all participants got their goodie bags, placards and parking assignments. After all the cars were parked, I served on the judging team while Dottie and Roger took care of other details. Werks was truly was a PCA national event with many of the national staff present and helping out, as well as the top brass from PCNA. The magnitude of preparation and logistics was mind boggling, however to the participant, it was just another great PCA event that members have come to expect. Next year we anticipate Werks to be bigger and better....so mark your calendars now …. It will be the Friday before the Amelia Island Concours. Plan on joining the fun as a participant, volunteer or spectator.... and you may want to make a weekend out of it as we did.... read on! True to plan.... after trophy presentation, the core staff tore down and packed away everything in record time. Yes, while vendor, sponsors and hired help did their part, PCA had a pack up all its stuff (we filled a box truck that needed to be unloaded, palatalized and shrink wrapped for shipping). We’ll be back next year...and hoping to see many of you there also. The next day included visits to the Amelia Island cars and coffee at the Ritz and a visit to the Festival of Speed back at the Omni where the Werks was held. More networking, Zonefest promotion, and more of a fun day than Werks (Not that we’re complaining as it was great to be part of a high-energy team that we truly enjoyed). The final stop was a drive to participate in the Florida Thoroughbred Region’s car corral at the Ocala Live Oak Invitational horse show. Briefly the car corral was interesting, but not as interesting as the horse show. I’ll leave it at that....next month Part II...Steve ..Trivia Answer... Dottie’s 944S2
