Welcome to Zonefest 2016 By Dottie Kidd, Zonefest Chair and Steve Kidd Zone 12 Representative

T

his year Gold Coast Region is again hosting Zonefest, and we’re delighted you have chosen to enjoy a Porsche filled Memorial Day weekend with us. As many of the old timers know, Zonefest was held in Sebring for many years and could be considered the traditional “Zonefest home”. Hopefully you will take time to read the “Quick History of Zonefest” article in this program by Mike Joffee. As many of you know, Zonefest was chaired by Mike Joffee for over 25 years and most likely would not have sustained had Mike not continued his hard work year after year. With Mike’s passing in 2015 a special moment of silence will be had at the Sunday banquet to honor Mike and his outstanding contributions to Zonefest, and everything PCA. If anyone has ever chaired a multiregion event you can truly appreciate the amount of organization and

time that Mike put into chairing an event of this magnitude. Sebring is a great town for which to host Zone 12’s multi-region event due to its relatively central location and proximity to the world-famous Sebring Racetrack. We hope you find the Chateau élan comfortable and suitable for all the planned activities. As you can see from the schedule in the lobby and in this program, Zonefest has something for everyone. We are offering the usual competitive events (concours, autocross, rally and tech quiz) as well as some non-competitive family oriented activities such as hospitality, banquets, an ice cream social, kid’s functions, a tour of the Murals of Lake Placid, and a visit to the Renzetti Museum (also in Lake Placid) which is a private collection of great cars owned by long time member Ernie Renzetti. On Monday The Zone 12 Presidents will meet for their annual meeting while

the Zone 12 newsletter editors, webmasters and Social Media chairs will gather for a round table discussion and networking session. We hope you will have an opportunity to rekindle old friendships and make some new ones, as well as enjoy the beautiful cars. We wish to thank everyone that helped put on this weekend’s activities, and especially our sponsors and supporters. We hope you can support them with your business when the need arises. Special mention is in order for the following team members Fred Kohly/Peter OlliviereConcours, Steve Hoffman -Tech Quiz, Robin Hoffman- Kid’s activities and Brian West- Autocross,Chris and Jenny Branston for the Gimmick Rally ….Enjoy the Weekend!… Steve & Dottie If you have any questions, please call Dottie Kidd (954-5625919) .

Florida Crown Region

The Florida Crown Region (FCR) was chartered on June 16, 1960 as the Central Florida Region and changed its name to Florida Crown Region on January 25, 1975. The Region has been very active in Driver Education, Autocross, Concours and Rally type events. In 1999 the region added Club Racing to its list of many “world class” events. As a “Social Club” the Region has promoted social dinner meetings, some of which have hosted special speakers, such as Bill Warner of Amelia Island Concours fame, Bob Snodgrass & Hurley Haywood of the Brumos Racing Teams, among many other notable car enthusiasts. Florida Crown is one of 144 Regions and 13 Zones in the US and one of 10 Regions in Florida from the northeast and north-central areas of Florida, from just south of Gainesville and to the west of Lake City. FCR includes the following Florida counties: Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Dixie, Duval, Flagler, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Nassau, Putnam, St. Johns, Suwannee, Union. The center of the FCR’s activities is in Jacksonville (Duval County) Florida. As of December 2015, Florida Crown Region currently has 874 active members (As of December 2015) FCR Club is a very active group with various activities throughout the month. We hold scheduled Dinner Socials on the second Tuesday night of each month at various venues around the city and in other local towns. You are invited to attend all of these fun filled evenings to talk PORSCHE, meet new people, participate in our monthly prizes and more. Check the EVENTS section of this web site for current happenings. There are monthly Drive & Dines (D & D) events to various interesting places within a few hours’ drive of Jacksonville each month. It’s really fun to have 20, 30, or more Porsche’s cruising down the road together to an interesting location We also provide Driver Education (DE’s) courses and PCA Club Racing throughout the year. Test your driving proficiency at a DE and then work your way into the ranks of the club racers. DE’s and Club Races are held at several different venues within a few hours’ drive of Jacksonville.

FRIDAY ACTIVITIES

Final registration and check in will be held in Salon B at the Chateau which is right off the lobby by the pool area. You will sign waivers, choose your rally start time, verify concours and autocross classes, pick up tickets, name badges, and of course that great Zonefest shirt if you registered before May 1st. Here you can be sure you have signed up for all the great events and can ask questions if you are unclear about anything. Even if you have never done some of these events, give it a try! You might be surprised at how much fun it can be. Then, of course, the more events you do the better your chance of winning the “Overall” award which goes to the person with the highest overall score for the weekend by combining scores from each event. Also on Friday evening Concours participants will have the opportunity to wash and prep their cars from noon until dusk; some may be staged Friday evening. The car wash area is located just to the right side of the Chateau and will have buckets, mitts, etc. There will also be a Concours Basics and Rally Basics class on Friday evening as well as the opening of the Hospitality Suite in Room 255 for those that just want to socialize. An evening activity is planned for the kids (thanks to Robin Hoffman of Space Coast Region) so check the final schedule. Any changes to that schedule will be posted in the lobby. An optional event for anyone wishing to try something new is a Lake Placid Mural Tour which can be done whenever you have a little extra time. Lake Placid is only about 20 minutes away. A video may be shown during the weekend and a few Mural Tour books will be available. Lake Placid has over 44 full size murals on various buildings, as well as artistic trash containers and over four dozen bird plaques around the town. What an amazing opportunity to see something so unique. Don’t miss it.

Gold Coast Region……. Past, Present and Future

By Steve Kidd

It all started in November of 1963 when a small group of Porsche owners met at the Space Satellite Motel on a then barren oceanfront strip of AIA in Pompano Beach. The outcome was the formation of the Gold Coast Region of the Porsche Club of America. This was the 53rd region created for a club that would eventually grow to 144 regions and largest car club in the United States. Gold Coast Region (GCR) today has over 2300 members and currently encompasses Monroe, Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, Okeechobee, Highlands and St. Lucie counties (at total driving distance of +/275 miles from Key West to the northern border of St. Lucie county). Gold Coast Region is the largest region in Zone 12 and offers events and activities just about every weekend of the year. From 1963 to 2016, GCR enjoyed a rich history of National awards and Regional successes. This includes, but is not limited to the following highlights: 1970 Family of the year, Hahn Family; 1973 Family of the year, Fuller Family; 1999 Family of the year, Tarter Family and Mike Joffee was awarded PCA enthusiast of the year at the same parade; 2011 Family of the year, Ortega Family; 2015 Family of the year, Kidd Family. Other memorable PCA Parade achievements include Gold Coast winning the President’s Trophy three times. This is an award given to the Region with the best attendance based on Region size and distance traveled. The Long Distance award has been won by Gold Coast members twice. As a Region, GCR’s biggest National achievement came in 1986 when GCR was crowned PCA Region of the Year. This award was presented at the 1987 Parade and reflects the teamwork and leadership that existed then and carries on today. Whether its autocross, concours, tours, DE, social, tech or just a relaxing Porsches and Pancakes, GCR has something for everyone. Members can follow activities and plan events by reading our monthly newsletter (Kassette), or visiting our updated website or checking out one of several social media apps such as facebook. With a great core of volunteers, GCR is poised to continue to evolve and offer the types of activities member want. With outstanding leadership teams in place and coming up thru the ranks, GCR is ready to embrace the future and offer new ways for members to enjoy their Porsches and fellow Porsche owners.

SATURDAY ACTIVITIES

Concours d’elegance (Chaired by Fred Kohly and Peter Olliviere of Gold Coast Region) preparation will continue early Saturday morning for those final touches. The wash area will be open bright and early on Saturday morning from 6:30 to 7:30 am before you move over to the staging area. Judging for the Concours d’elegance will begin promptly at 9:00 and at that point you can only do a “light dusting”. Please remain near your car and stay with the car while it’s being judged to open doors etc. then you are free to roam around the concours area and check out other cars on display. While the “adult” cars are being judged, the kids will be working on their own cars and present their masterpieces for judging. Saturday afternoon will be a fun-filled “Gimmick Rally” with questions and photos prepared by Jenny & Chris Branston of Everglades Region – even though they were not able to be at Zonefest this year. It will take about two hours to complete while touring the scenic roadways of Highland county and the surrounding area. All you need is a driver and navigator and be ready to have a great time. If you need a partner, please let us know. Your rally start time will be chosen at check-in and hopefully you will have time to join the Rally Basics class on Friday evening at 8:00; this will answer any questions you may have and acquaint you with the format that will be used for this Gimmick Rally. There are no check points. You will receive your rally instructions ten minutes before your start time, and you turn in your score sheet at the Hospitality Suite (Room 255) upon your return. A cold keg of beer and wine will be there waiting for you. A rally technical inspection will take place at “rally out” at Chateau’s main entrance just prior to receiving instructions. Just be sure your horn, running lights and brake lights are in good working order; don’t forget to fill up your gas tank! A tech quiz for both adults and kids will be held following the Rally in the Hospitality Suite (Room 255) and has been prepared by Steve Hoffman, National Technical Chair. Even if you did not sign up for the Rally, stop by to take the tech quiz from proximately 4:30 to 6:00 pm. Saturday evening begins with a cocktail hour (cash bar) followed by an informal dinner with fellow participants. A photo presentation of the day’s activities is planned. You must present a banquet ticket at the door and bring your pink raffle tickets with you to place in your choice of raffle containers. Door prizes will be given away and some of the trophies will be awarded.

Suncoast Region

By Mike Mackenzie

Suncoast Region became an official PCA Region in 1961, so we are celebrating our 55th year as a PCA region in 2016! Our region consists primarily of the western counties in the middle of the state, with Tampa and St. Petersburg being the two biggest cities. Suncoast has approximately 2300 members who enjoy a wide variety of PCA activities which are planned and produced exclusively by our members. We have a very active Drivers Education program at the famed Sebring International Raceway and an Autocross program which enjoys a variety of locations and intense competition! But, we aren’t all about high performance driving. We conduct several tours each year, and visit museums, car shows and we have monthly “Date your Porsche” nights at various restaurants in the region, along with other social events throughout the year. The most important feature of our region is the friendliness of its members. In Suncoast, it really is “not the cars, it’s the people”.

Zonefest 2016 Concours d’elegance From the French meaning “competition of elegance” or “concourse of elegance”. An automobile Concours is more than a car show; it’s a competition event where trained judges rate every component of a car. The general idea is to present a vehicle that is the same as when it left production, and perhaps even better! Only the cars judged to be the best examples, and tally the highest scores, are eligible for the trophy presentations. Usually, concours participants bring their cars to the judging area with only final preparation remaining before they are judged. When the judging commences, a team of judges will then have 5 minutes to judge specific areas of the car. They will be looking for cleanliness, quality of preparation, lack of damage, and presentation. Vehicles are judged against others of similar body style and age. In the next columm is a brief description of the two classes judged in a Zonefest concours event:

 Wash & Shine: This competition category involves the judging of the interior and exterior only (including storage). Originality is not judged but emphasis is on cleanliness and appeal. Great way to have fun and excellent for first time participants.  Touring: Is more stringent than Wash & Shine. In this category, judges thoroughly examine the car’s interior, exterior, storage and engine compartment. Originality is highly considered.

Wash & Shine W10 All Years W11 1965-1977 W12 1978-1989 W13 1990-1998 W14 1999-2004 W15 2005-2012 W16 2013-new

Trophies: First, second and third place depending on class size. Judges Choice: Chosen by Judges to be most outstanding car in show. Note: Certain bonus points may be included in participant’s final score sheets based on age within group, miles driven to event or odometer readings. We reserve the right to combine classes.

The following article was written by Mike Joffee, former Gold Coast Region Historian, before his passing. You can see the many variations of the name and the rich history of this event.

A Quick History of Zonefest 1972-1973: Gold Coast Region decided to put on a multi-region weekend. It was called The Florida Parade and was held in October at the Hilton Hotel in Port St. Lucie. Being a success The Florida Parade was held again in October 1973 at the Colonnades Hotel in Palm Beach. The Chairman of both years was George Houser. 1974-1980: GCR changed the name to Sonnefest and due to the gas shortage, moved it to Sebring in order for it to be closer to the other regions and the date was changed to Memorial Day weekend. The hotel was Harder Hall and the event chairman was Don Bennett. This event became very popular and successful and remained at Harder Hall until 1980. 1981-1990: Harder Hall closed and Sonnefest was moved to the Holiday Inn in Lake Placid. In 1982 it was moved to the brand new Holiday Inn in Sebring. It remained there until 1990. The event chairman in 1975 was Dennis Defrancheschi and from 1976 to 1990 was Mike Joffee. 1991: Sonnefest was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Palm Beach, and the co-chairs of the event were Brian Canfield and John Rollins. 1992-1994: Sonnefest was held at the Palm Beach Polo Club in Wellington and the Chairman once again was Mike Joffee. 1995: Sonnefest was held at the Marriott Hotel in West Palm Beach and Kyle Rathbun was the chairman. 1996: Due to the lack of attendance for the prior few years Gold Coast Region joined forces with Suncoast Region who also had attendance problems at their multi region event and moved Sonnefest to Inn on the Lakes in Sebring. The co-chairman for Gold Coast was Kyle Rathbun. 1997-1998: Joining together with the Suncoast Region proved to take care of the attendance problem so both regions changed the name Sonnefest to Porschefest, and the event was moved to the Holiday Inn in Sebring. The Gold Coast Region’s co-chairman was again Mike Joffee. 1999-2001: Porschefest was held at the Admiral Lehigh Resort in Lehigh Acres. Gold Coast Region’s cochair for these 3 years was none other than Mike Joffee. 2002: Porschefest was put on primarily by the Suncoast Region and held at the Saddlebrook Resort as a “warm-up” for the National Porsche Parade to be held there in 2003. 2004: There was no Porschefest so the Citrus Region put on their own version of Porschefest called Citrusfest to celebrate their 30th anniversary. It was held at the Lakeside Inn in Mt. Dora. 2005-2006: It was such a wonderful location that Porschefest joined forces with Citrusfest, changed the name to Zonefest, and held it at the Lakeside Inn. The Gold Coast co-chairman for the 25th and, thank God, final time was Mike Joffee. 2007-2010: Continuing at the Lakeside Inn, Citrus Region put on Zonefest with some help from the other regions. After 2006 things went a little downhill for Zonefest. So after a very mediocre 2010 Zonefest, it was decided that individual regions would put it on each year. 2011: Suncoast hosted Zonefest for their 50th anniversary 2012: Space Coast hosted Zonefest for their 40th anniversary 2013: Gold Coast hosted Zonefest for their 50th anniversary 2014: Citrus region hosted Zonefest for their 40th anniversary 2016: Gold Coast Region hosted Zonefest in Sebring

ZONE 12 HISTORY Way back “in the old days” of 1969, PCA divided the United States into eight zones. Each of these zones had a “Zone Coordinator” appointed to represent the clubs within their geographical area to act as a communications medium. It was decided that each National Committee Chair and Officer would take on this dual responsibility and handle both positions. This continued as eight zones until 1974 when Zones 9 and 10 were added. In 1977 zone 11 was added and our own Zone 12 was added in 1985.

The Zone 12 Representatives from that point are:

SUNDAY ACTIVITIES

An RC Autocross for children, organized by Robin Hoffman of Space Coast, is scheduled to be run along with the autocross on Sunday morning. The RC cars used for this event may be offered as door prizes at the Sunday Banquet. This is held next to the autocross site so the kids can also see what a great time the adults are having! Lunch will be provided at the autocross site, thanks to Paul Raben from Gold Coast, and an Ice Cream Social from Club Registration will be organized for kids (of all ages) following the RC car competition near the autocross so the drivers can also participate. Also on Sunday morning the Zonefest Autocross will take place on the skid pad. All cars must be tech inspected before running which will be done on-site. The Autocross Chair (Brian West from Suncoast Region) will designate worker/safety stations close to the course to keep an eye on each car as it progresses thru the course. Each driver is expected to work the course as well as drive the course; we expect each driver to get 4-5 runs each The autocross classes will be based on Mid-Size Regions from the 2015 Porsche Parade Competition Rules which are listed elsewhere in this Program. Sunday afternoon, following completion of the Autocross, don’t miss a chance to visit Lori Renzetti’s private car collection in Lake Placid. You will have the opportunity to tour the “Garage Mahal” as a tribute to the late Ernie Renzetti to see his “toys” ranging from VW to mini cars all the way up to Porsches and memorabilia from many years of collecting. Sunday evening Awards Banquet will take us from competition and touring back to a party mode with more great food and Porsche stories. Another photo presentation is planned with more door prizes. Remember you must bring your dinner ticket and yellow raffle tickets to choose which prize you would like to try for. Something new is in the works – a Special Webmaster/Newsletter/Social Media get together to exchange ideas between the Regions will also be held on Sunday afternoon at the Chateau. Don Roof, Region Website Chair, will be facilitating group discussions with possible conference call participation, during the meeting, with the Newsletter Chair and/or Region Social Media Chair.

MONDAY ACTIVITIES

This year Steve Kidd, your new Zone 12 Representative, will be hosting the Spring Presidents Meeting on Monday morning for all ten Regions in Zone 12. PCA National Secretary Cindy Jasicin will present a power point presentation with news and updates from the National office, and Greg Halverson, PCA Driving Tour Chair, will provide the latest draft of tour guidelines and field questions about tour procedures.

FLORIDA CITRUS REGION

By Lisa Lewis

The Florida Citrus Region was founded in 1973 and chartered on July 14, 1974, organized by members from the Cape Canaveral Region (now the Space Coast Region) who lived in Central Florida. We’ve grown from 25 initial members to more than 600 primary members – and more than 1,000 total members - living in Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Lake counties. Our Driver’s Ed and Autocross programs, as well as tours, rallies and tech training events, are at the heart of the club. But we have various types of social events year-round. Member Alex Job has provided race-winning Porsches for years, from Sebring to Le Mans. Nort Northam, one of the charter members, is still very active and continues to win PCA racing championships, and Ron Zitza has successfully raced at the national level. Citrus has been a great supporter of Zonefest for many years. The predecessor to Zonefest was called Porschefest. In 2004, there was no Porschefest, so the Citrus Region put on our own version, called Citrusfest. It celebrated our 30th anniversary, and it was held at the Lakeside Inn in Mt. Dora. It was such a wonderful location that Porschefest joined forces with Citrusfest and changed the name to Zonefest. The event was hosted by Citrus and held at the Lakeside Inn until 2010 and again in 2014.

EVERGLADES REGION

By Chris Branston

Our region currently has approximately 450 full members and stretches from Everglades City in the south to Punta Gorda in the North. It covers all of Collier county and parts of Lee and Charlotte counties – which affords us great access to rural backroads which are ideal for exercising our Porsches. We do this by organizing cryptic clue and photo rallies to places which most of our members have not heard of – let alone visited! The majority of the members are located in the Naples and Fort Myers areas and this gives us a large choice of restaurants to visit – so we organize drives to restaurants – mostly on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. Once a year we organize the Weekend of the Year (“W.O.T.Y”) which takes in a stay at a characterful and luxurious hotel. So far we have held the WOTY at Lake Wales (Chalet Suzanne), Osprey (Bentleys), Lakeland (the Terrace Hotel), Crystal River (the Plantation Inn) and Howey-in-the Hills (the Mission Inn). We are fortunate to be close to Buckingham Airfield – a WW2 bomber training base with long concrete runways. With generous sponsorship from our local Porsche dealerships (Porsche of Naples and Porsche Ft. Myers) we arrange three or four autocross events per year which are enjoying ever- increasing popularity. We usually invite auto crossers from neighboring regions to participate – which has proven popular. Everglades Region received its charter from PCA in 1999 and in 2012 we received the Greatest Factored Growth award from PCA national, which was presented that year at the Porsche Parade in Salt Lake City. On the first Tuesday of every month we have an informal get-together at a local restaurant and bar. We welcome new members and transferees from northern regions who migrate south during the season. All in all we like to celebrate “Driving in its purest form”!

NORTH FLORIDA REGION

By Bob Wilson

Chartered by PCA's National Headquarters in November of 1971, we are the Official Region of PCA for a large portion of North Florida and its Panhandle area. To state it simply, the North Florida Region of PCA exists to celebrate and foster the enjoyment of these wonderful automobiles and to help those owners living in our service area get the most out of their Porsche Experience! PCA's North Florida Region welcomes members from any locale but we are primarily responsible for the following North Florida counties: Bay, Calhoun, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Okaloosa, Taylor, Wakulla, Walton and Washington. The region does indeed have many highly valued members from outside our official boundaries and we are extremely proud to host them! From social meetings in the Tallahassee, Panama City and Destin areas to key events held several times throughout the year, there's always an opportunity to get with other Porsche enthusiasts and share your love of the marque. We have a membership that enjoys all aspects of Porsche ownership and their experiences are just waiting to be shared. If you are already a member then you know what we're talking about. If you are not a member, or are new to the area, we hope you'll get in touch with us to see how easy it is to move your Porsche Ownership Experience to the next level of enjoyment. It's the mission of our region's Board of Directors and Officers to make sure that you enjoy your PCA North Florida Region membership as much as you enjoy your Porsche so don't hesitate to contact us to see how we can help you join in the fun today! The North Florida Region Website can be found at nfl.pca.org and the Facebook Page at PCA North Florida Region. Annual Events include: 1. SPACE COAST REGION by Scott Kee

The Space Coast Region (SPC) of Porsche Club of America (PCA) includes over 1,000 Porsche enthusiasts as members that live along the east coast of Florida extending from Daytona Beach in the north through Vero Beach in the south. History The Space Coast Region, initially Cape Canaveral Region, is one of PCA’s oldest chapters. The region was chartered in February 1968, one week after Porsche’s legendary 1-2-3 finish at the 24 Hours of Daytona. In 1968 the space race was in high gear; NASA launched Apollo 8 – the first manned spacecraft to orbit the moon – and “The Cape” stood as the undisputed epicenter of aerospace science and engineering. The name was changed to Space Coast Region in 1986. For almost 50 years, the region has thrived at this juncture of speed and technology. SPC is one of the fastest growing regions in North America and has quadrupled in size in the past ten years and has won the following national awards: • • • • • • •

2007 – “Heinmiller Award” for Escape Velocity as PCA’s best newsletter 2008 – PCA’s “Factored Growth Membership Award” for 2007 2009 – First Place for Escape Velocity as PCA’s best newsletter in our size category 2010 – “Ferry Porsche Trophy” as PCA’s Region of the Year for 2009 2013 – Runner-up as PCA’s Region of the Year for 2012 2013 – “Public Service Award” for SPC’s charity activities 2014 – PCA’s “Family of the Year Award” to Steve and Robin Hoffman

Over the years, SPC has provided its talent to serve at PCA Zone 12 and National levels. Tom Gorsuch, currently PCA’s National Vice President, also served as National Membership Chair and National Treasurer. David O’Neal, presently PCA’s Treffen North America Chair, was Zone 12 Representative. Ginny O’Neal, now Treffen North America Facilities Coordinator, was also PCA National Awards Chair. Steve Hoffman now serves as PCA National Tech Chair; Robin Hoffman has been Parade Kids Coordinator for a number of years. SPC’s President Scott Kee is also the Treasurer for PCA Zone 12. Activities Space Coast Region hosts an average of four events per month and stages many driving activities, such as scenic tours, drive & dines, autocrosses, road rallies, caravans to special events, and driver education sessions at major race tracks. Social activities consist of 3 monthly Kaffe Klatschens, a mid-summer banquet, Oktoberfest, picnics, Concours, annual Holiday Party, Polo and Porsches, and other non-competitive events. Many of these events are designated charity events supporting various local charities. Technical sessions are hosted at area shops and provide information on both new and old models. SPC members participate in regional gatherings (Zone 12 Zonefest), multi-region events held across Florida (Sunrise to Sunset Rally, Oktoberfast, Sebring Porscheplatz, Daytona Corrals), at national meetings such as PCA’s annual Porsche Parade, and the coveted Porsche Rennsport Reunion. Planning is just getting started on a big celebration of Space Coast’s 50th Anniversary in 2018. Sponsors Space Coast Region has established an exemplary dealer/club relationship with its Premier Dealer, Porsche of Melbourne, http://www.porscheofmelbourne.com, one of only two Porsche dealers in the nation to ever achieve Premier Dealer status 9 consecutive years. This mutually beneficial bond has been cited by PCA as the prototype for other dealerships and regions to follow. SPC members enjoy special discounts on parts, service, and merchandise from many other sponsors listed on our web site, http://spc.pca.org/sponsors.

Puerto Rico Region

by Jose Garcia The PCA - Puerto Rico Region was formally established within the PCA national organization in July 1994 after going through various iterations since the 70’s. Today we enjoy a membership count of over 300+ members. (Our region had the honor of receiving the Factored Growth Award for the 2011). Puerto Rico, being located in the Caribbean, affords us a stable weather thru the seasons. This means that our calendar runs at least one activity per month even in winter. Rallies, Tours, Drivers Ed, Socials, Concours d’ Elegance, Tech Sessions and Charities support are mostly the range of activities that comprise our yearly schedule. Rallies and tours are quite a challenge. Almost all of them have some kind of “Hill Climb” section in it, since the island topography has a large section of mountain roads that runs across it. Even though we are land lock, the primary and secondary roads in the island comprise some 8,500 miles of highways and country roads, some very challenging. Tours permit us the pleasure of sampling all the great restaurants the island has to offer. At least one tour is an overnight affair with several continuous hours of driving. Drivers Ed has been a staple from the get go. At the beginning (circa 1994) we had the luck of been taken under the wings of a group of instructor from the Suncoast region that sacrificed their personal time to guide us and teach us the way forward to establish our DE program. Today we have 25+ certified instructors and a large number of students and all level solos. The Socials tend to a different demographic within the region, since not everybody takes their Porsche to track. Our yearly Concours d’ Elegance is one of the marquee events as it always has large numbers of participants as well as spectators. Even though we are a small island we have an awesome variety of Porsche models represented with several rare or special cars in the mix. Since shipping our Porsches overseas to the mainland is not a small feat, our participation in the big events like the Parade has been sporadic with several members making the effort and driving to them. We have already started planning for our 25 year anniversary celebration. Even though it’s still 2 ½ years away, it’s on the top of our agenda to celebrate BIG and with a lot of pride in being part of such a wonderful club that celebrates our passion, Porsche. The world largest single marque club…. Porsche Club of America.

Sonnenschein Region Sonnenschein was originally incorporated as the Gulf Coast Region on 30 Nov 78. In the mid 1990’s interest was at a low, and the region became essentially inactive. In 1997 it was brought back to life by Gerald Davis who volunteered to be the first Sonnenschein president. Growth was rapid in those early years of reinvigoration and Sonnenschein won a PCA membership award in 1999. We were also blessed with a superb editor and won a PCA newsletter award in 2000. We are on our fifth Sonnenschein president, and are fortunate to have 3 of 4 past presidents still active in the club. We’ve also received our 30th anniversary banner from PCA. Sonnenschein generally provides a balance of both social and track events to satisfy our members. Social activities have included visits to a local vineyard, a ferry ride to Dauphin Island, tours through our countryside, car shows at the National Museum of Naval Aviation, and visits to a local car museum. For local track events, we conducted over 100 DE and autocross events. So 2016 finds Sonnenschein with an active and enthusiastic membership enjoying many social activities, and looking forward to adding track events to our calendar. We organize monthly meetings, driving events such as Driver’s Education (DE) and Autocross (AX), as well as road rallies through the Northwest Florida countryside. While centralized in the Pensacola, Florida area, we have been known to head west to Mobile, or east to Destin. We enjoy meeting with our neighbor PCA regions as well as other car clubs, such as the Pensacola British Car Club. As a club, we would like to welcome you to the region, and for first time Porsche owners, to Porsche ownership. There is a lot of joy to be had with these fine automobiles, and we aim to exploit each and every on The Porsche experience reaches across the cars and the years to people who drive and cherish them. We know the unbridled joy that a Porsche can provide, and we’ve built a community around that very feeling. The Porsche Club of America (PCA) offers driving experience, technical assistance and camaraderie second to none.

Thoroughbred Region By John Green The FLORIDA THOROUGHBRED REGION of PCA was formed in 2015 to serve local members of four counties in North Central Florida Marion, Sumter, Levy and Citrus. These 4 counties in North Central Florida, comprise rolling hills, live oak trees and thoroughbred horse farms. The primary cities served are Ocala, The Villages, Inverness, Bushnell, Bronson, Homosassa, Williston, Dunnellon, Crystal River and their surrounding areas. The region hosts social and driving events. Porsche of Ocala is a great supporter of the region’s activities.
