AM/PM Program strives to offer a well-rounded program in a safe and secure environment located in the elementary schools within the City of Peoria. All sites are licensed by the Department of Health Services (DHS). Department of Economic Security (DES) funding is available for those that qualify, call (602) 771-0014. Registration Information Children are not registered to attend the program until you receive a confirmation from billing staff that your registration has been completed. STEP 1: Go to www.peoriaaz.gov/AMPM to complete registration paperwork. Choose your school site and submit your registration. Have a digital and readable copy of your child’s immunization record handy to be submitted at this time. STEP 2: After registration, log into your secured recreation account and add your financial information under the Primary Contact, not the child’s name. Check DEFAULT to make this the preferred payment method. This step is REQUIRED and must be completed within one business day after submitting the registration. STEP 3: You will receive a registration confirmation from the Billing Department when your registration has been processed. Your first charge will be on the Monday of your first week of selected attendance and every Monday thereafter. Office hours are Mon. - Thur. 7 a.m. - 6 p.m., closed on Fridays. All weekly fees will be charged automatically. Financial information is REQUIRED (checking account or credit card) at the time of registration.

DES REGISTRATION INFORMATION DES registrations cannot be completed until authorization is received by the AM/PM billing department. Please contact your DES account representative to avoid a delayed start date. School Break Care Camps Break Camp will be provided during the following school breaks. Spring Break - March 14-18 & April Break - April 22 Fee $27 per day, per child When 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Visit www.peoriaaz.gov/breakcamps for locations and information. Summer Camp registration open March 21.

There will be a processing period before a participant can start attending the program. Children participate in a variety of activities and expand education, social and developmental skills in a supervised and secure environment. The goal is the total well-being of each child. The program is licensed by the Department of Health Services (DHS). When Year-Round; Mon. - Fri.; 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Ages Children 3 1/2 - 5 years old. Children must be able to toilet themselves. This course is a requirement for those wishing to be City of Peoria Junior Lifeguards during the season, including returning Junior Lifeguards. It provides an introduction to lifeguard responsibilities, swim lesson instruction, and CPR. Participant must have passed Stroke School Gold swim lessons and/or be able to swim 200 yards. StarGuard Lifeguard Training (15+) This course includes certification in StarGuard Lifeguard Training and ASHI CPR/AED for the Professional Lifeguard. Participants must be at least 15 years old by the last class, be able to swim 50 yards (with head up), retrieve a 10 pound brick from 12 feet of water, tread water for 1 minute (without hands), and attend ALL classes. Starfish Swimming Instructor (15+) The Starfish Swim Instructor Course provides swim instructor candidates the training needed to teach courses in the SAI Water Safety Program. Instructor candidates will learn how to help students develop correct stroke technique, develop an understanding of how to teach students at different levels, develop water safety techniques, and learn how to evaluate participants’ progress. Swim Team & Dive Team The City of Peoria offers four seasonal recreational swim teams: Sunrise Red Sharks, Sunrise Green Sharks, Centennial Stingrays, Peoria Piranhas and three seasonal recreational dive teams: Sunrise Marlins, Sunrise Gators, and Peoria Dolphins. Practices are held Mon. - Thur. from May 23 - July 7, with meets approximately once a week. Registrations are first come first serve and do fill up quickly. Fees for Swim Team: $90 Resident/$150 Non-Resident Fees for Dive Team: $60 Resident/$70 Non-Resident Registration Information: Tues., April 19, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.: Peoria residents returning to their same team from 2021 may register in-person at the Rio Vista Recreation Center (8866 W. Thunderbird Rd.). Registrations will not be taken for any new swimmers/divers or at any other location on this day. Adaptive Swim Lessons Adaptive Swim Lessons are designed to teach swim skills, increase swimmer knowledge of safety around the water, maintain and increase physical fitness, achieve success, and receive recognition with an aquatic environment. Sports - Youth YOUTH SPORTS LEAGUES The City of Peoria Youth Sports offers a variety of league offerings throughout the year. All of our leagues are non-competitive recreational leagues that promote inclusion, teamwork and FUN! Game scores are not retained and league standings are not kept. The emphasis of our leagues is to learn the basics of a sport and grow a life-long love of athletics while learning life skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship. Volunteer Coaches

DES/DDD FUNDED PROGRAMS The City of Peoria Adaptive Recreation Program contracts with the Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities, to offer a variety of Day Treatment and Training Services. All programs are staffed on a 1:4 staff-to-participant ratio, so a moderate-to-high level of independence is required. After School Recreation Program provides age appropriate activities for students 12-17 and 18-21 years of age. Program days follow the Peoria Unified School District calendar. Adult Day Recreation Program is designed to provide unique and challenging activities in a small group setting. To inquire about openings at our two sites, contact Jodi at (623) 773-7436.

Tiny Dragons - “I Won’t Go” Abduction Prevention Child abductions and human trafficking are terrifying, and are also a common occurrence in today’s world. Retired police officer and martial arts professional, Denis Wooten, will teach young children (and their parents/guardians) environmental awareness, how to spot and avoid threatening people in dangerous situations, and what to do if accosted by a stranger. Children will learn basic Kenpo techniques and how to apply them during reality-based scenarios practiced during class. Parents will also participate to learn techniques to defend and keep their child safe if an attempted abduction happens. AZ Ice and the City of Peoria have partnered to offer fun, recreational ice-skating classes. AZ Ice follows the nationwide “Learn to Skate-USA” program to provide the entry level curriculum in a fun and positive atmosphere. Children and parents (or another person 16+) learn the proper technique to perform basic skating. Beginning skills such as marching, fall down and get up, 2-foot hop, back wiggles and much more are taught through fun, games and songs to keep your child engaged and interested. Neighborhood Grants

This grant was created to promote community engagement among neighbors in traditional (non-HOA) neighborhoods. Through the grant, residents are able to apply for funds that will go towards their neighborhood for enhancements and activities. Previous grants have gone towards entry way enhancements, dog waste stations, mail box refreshes and more. Residents interested in becoming a neighborhood liaison/leader are strongly encouraged to apply.

GUIDELINES

• All bulky items should be placed in the gutter/curb no later than 6:00 am of the zone collection date. Please do not place bulky items out more than one day in advance of zone collectioin date. Bulky items placed out after a street has been serviced or exceed the maximum collection size (approx. 6’ long x 4’ wide x 3’ feet tall) will incur a charge of $50.00 per 30 minutes of loading time. • Neatly place bulk trash alongside the curb in front of your property. Do not place items on your property or the sidewalk. Please do not combine bulk trash into one large community pile. Service will not be provided if bulk trash is improperly placed, deemed unsafe to collect, or contains unacceptable items. • Loose yard clippings and pet waste must be bagged and securely tied to be collected. • Cut tree limbs, branches and wood panels into 3' sections and stack in the same direction. • Place cacti pieces in a sturdy box. • Remove doors from appliances or secure with heavy tape.
