Is Design & Technology Food for me?

At Prince Henry’s we are passionate about Food and its place on the curriculum. The department is ever growing as are our option numbers at GSCE and Level 3. We believe it is an essential and exciting subject that allows pupils to be innovative and creative when taught by inspiring and motivational teachers. We will enable you to become the committed, confident and creative teacher you want to be with the skills you need to share your love for your subject.

What will I study?

Our course is designed around the Core Content Framework, enabling you to fully understand the terms ‘learn that’ and ‘learn how to’ whilst putting this into practise in your school setting. We will help you develop your understanding of individual needs within the classroom and how you can encourage and challenge pupils to do their absolute best. As you are growing into your new role we will provide you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive.

How can I prepare?

Develop your subject knowledge by reading around the GCSE and Level 3 specifications and address any gaps you may find. Improve your practical ability – imagine your very own Bake Off versus MasterChef and hone your skills. This will stand you in good stead for the start of the course.
