Joe Colombo

(253) 307-5835 joe@friendsofjoe.info www.joecolombo.info

Elected Experience: 2018 Precinct Committee Officer. It would be an honor to earn your vote for Puyallup City Council.

Other Professional Experience: IT Project Management & Facilitation; Former Counselor for the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Seattle.

Education: M.A., Psychology, Western American University; B.A., Western Washington University; Rogers High School; Ballou Junior High.

Community Service: Current City of Puyallup Design Review & Historic Preservation Board; Founder of Indivisible Puyallup; Founder of Families of Puyallup Public Schools Group; Professional Santa Claus with Northwest Santa; Multi-Year Volunteer Manager for Emerald City Comicon’s Artist Alley; Former Downtown Puyallup Kiwanis Member and Dessie Evans Puyallup Elementary School PTA Member.

Statement: As a longtime Puyallup resident, it’s important to me that our community be vibrant and welcoming. After college and working in Seattle, I came home to raise my daughter for Puyallup’s good schools and sense of community. Now I want to give back and make Puyallup even better.

I’ll bring my core values of integrity and transparency to city council. I’ll keep you informed, seek feedback, and walk my talk. My first proposal will be to establish an Equity & Ethics Commission with citizens appointed to help our city become accountable and accessible to all community members.

I’ll bring fiscal responsibility to budget sessions, using my skills as a credit counselor. My top priority to save costs will be to resolve the city’s impasse with homeless service providers. The solution is to facilitate moving them to appropriate service locations, and I’ll help bring stakeholders together to make that happen.

Safety is key. We need prevention programs to reduce crime. We need crosswalks on busy arterials, completed sidewalks in neighborhoods, and lighted trails to access our beautiful parks. Bottom line is I want Puyallup to become the best possible place for our children, seniors, and everyone, so we all succeed together.
