vening all, derby day is here, the ones we look forward to every season. Hopefully we’ll have a good crowd and the atmosphere will be decent. Weymouth have had good start to the season and tonight will be a tough test for us. They have some good footballers that can cause us problems and we’ll have to be at our best to stop them, but as always were confident in our own ability and believe we can get a result. Three points will be massive to us tonight, we’ve had a frustrating month with a fair few games called off and the games we have played have been a bit stop start and we haven’t quite been at our best. But we’ve remained sharp and belive a win will kick us on again going into the vital part of
2
the season. It’s tight at the top with lots of teams in the mix, a win tonight will put a nice bit of distance between us and Weymouth, we need to start pullin away from teams if we’re to get that promotion we so desperately want. Get behind the lads, we need our fans in full voice as we know Weymouth have a strong following too. Get Tatnam rocking and we’ll do our very best to get the points! Up the Dolphins Whisk

BOARDROOM NOTES Chris Reeves Vice Chairman
S
urely these notes will be read! The gods cannot be that cross with us! The postponement of the game with tonight’s opponents on the 2nd January was very cruel.I n our cash flow planning we had realistically banked on a take of 10k plus. Quite apart from the financial blow of losing that sum(will we get 40% of that tonight?)we were left with numerous bills from the postponed game that we still had to pay, one of which was of course for programmes.T hat is the reason why there is a supplement for the programme and we hope you will forgive us for that. We have replaced quite a bit but have tried to salvage the rest to claw something back from the production costs- it’s not easy running a semi professional football club! When I first started to watch Poole play in the mid sixties Weymouth were by far and away the top team in the Southern League- the very first league game I saw at the Stadium saw the Terras inflict a 4-0 defeat on the home side which had just won promotion to the Premier Division. To be playing tonight’s opponents in circumstances where we now lead the way over them in the league table is hugely satisfying not that anything will be taken for granted in terms of the result. Jason Matthews side are more than capable
and will provide the strongest of opposition. Their players officials and supporters are most welcome to Tatnam. Last weekend was another frustrating washout- how on earth do people survive without a regular Saturday football fix? That call to break the news of a game being called off is always destined to put a huge dark cloud over any weekend. I guess it must be so much worse for the players who are mentally and physically prepared for the fray with adrenalin rushing only for it all to suddenly come to nothing with just a single text or phone call. Let’s hope that’s the last one for this season. Next Saturday we have a quick return to Tatnam when Biggleswade are our visitors in yet another League clash ko 3.00pm.Another vital challenge in our efforts to secure promotion to the National League South. Finally the usual reminder to enjoy the game and buy a few 50:50 tickets. Chris

SECRETARY’S NOTES WELCOME BACK: Welcome back to Tatnam this evening for our latest game in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division Tonight is local derby time versus Weymouth who have made the short trip up the Dorset coast, the original fixture fell foul of the wet weather at the turn of the year. Welcome to all from Weymouth and our refereeing team who are from the Wiltshire and Somerset areas and we wish all a safe journey home. EVO-STIK SOUTHERN LEAGUE NEWS: With our neighbours Wimborne Town the latest to suffer on the financial front may I wish our friends and colleagues the very best of luck in their fight to get the club back on a firm footing. Only a few days previously they had announced that Harry Redknapp was joining the board of directors. On a happier note Charlie Austin’s – Roy of the Rovers story continues with his move to Southampton and his dream debut if you had written the story the publisher would have sent it back as pure fantasy. Latest SL boss to go: David Batch of St Neots Town is the latest Southern League manager to step down. EVO-STIK SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER FIXTURE NEWS: Continuing on into 2016 and February this Saturday 6th February we continue with another home game when Biggleswade Town from Bedfordshire are the visitors. On Tuesday 9th February we have a long midweek trip to Stratford Town, which is Stratford upon Avon in Warwickshire this is a new venue for us. More road miles although one of the shorter ones is on Saturday 13th February when we travel to Paulton Rovers in the Bristol area, which is followed on Saturday 20th
4
February with a home game v Bideford from Devon. The February games should finish up with a trip to Cirencester Town on Saturday 27th. We have to hope that the recent wet weather finally reverts to a decent run of drier conditions. WITH THE CUP COMPETITIONS UNDERWAY PLEASE KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR FIXTURE CHANGES. U21 NEWS: Numerous attempts have been made to organise league games and friendly matches for the U21 squad without success, hopefully once the weather improves so will the chances of some action for them. POOLE TOWN LADIES: On the other hand are doing well in both the league and cup. AWAY COACH TRAVEL NEWS: The next coach trip will be on Tuesday 9th February when we travel up to Stratford Town, followed by another trip on Saturday 13th when we visit Paulton Rovers. Departure times are 2.00 pm for Stratford and 11.15 am for Paulton. Also see the travel page in today’s programme for more information on away travel. Main pick up point is by the Tatnam Coop at the end of Tatnam Rd. As before bookings at the club office (behind the main dressing room block) see Bill or Daphne. YOURS IN SPORT – BILL REID.

T
oday we belatedly welcome weymouth fc to the Tatnam for this eagerly awaited local derby. It was a great shame for both sides that the game was postponed on the 2nd January as I think potentially we could have had a 1000 plus crowd on the day. Today being midweek is inevitably going to attract a reduced number but I think it should still be a great game with an atmosphere to match . Weymouth have a talented and large squad and up until a unexpected reverse at Bedworth have been on a good run of results. Their result at Bedworth pretty much sums up the league this time around as all the teams in the top six are and have been dropping points in games where that would appear unlikely when you look at the table. Another example for me of the strange nature of it all is looking at Merthyr who are in 15 place in the league and yet having played them 3 times this season I rate them as one of the best sides we have faced. I still think the race for that coveted automatic promotion place and the play off places is wide open with clubs down to 11th 12th or even lower still hoping they can force their way into the top 5 places and probably 6 or 7 still thinking they can win it. Our run of draws continued at Merthyr 2 weeks ago but I think on balance it can be considered a good result being away from home against a strong team. It’s the home draws which have disappointed me particularly the Slough game. Other teams have closed in on us and we need to get another run of results going. Having said that as I keep saying I think the players have done well to get us to this position and I have every faith in them.
Lee wort’s loan spell has ended but I wouldn’t completely rule out him returning at some point . However, like a lot of clubs finances are very difficult at the moment so we will have to wait and see. Lee is a really genuine person and player and we thank him for all his efforts. On the positive side we had some good news this week as although Jamie Gleeson does still have some issues surrounding the healing of his injury he has been given the all clear to attempt a playing return. He is an exceptional player and just what is needed at this stage of the season. We need to be cautious as there is a risk of a set back with his injury but at this stage if he doesn’t start playing soon the season will be over before he is match fit so we are taken a gamble supported by the advice of his specialist. He will need a bit of time to get up to speed as he has been out for a long time but I am excited at the prospect of having him fit and back in the squad . I went to watch Weymouth a couple of weeks ago and the have very vocal supporters and I hope you will all do your best to match them tonight to help us get a much needed 3 points Enjoy the game

COMMERCIAL MATTERS
S
ince the original posponed fixture, we managed to get one home game in against King’s Lynn and then one away fixture at Merthyr, both resulted in 1-1 draws. Today we welcome local Dorset rivals Weymouth for El Jurassico part II. Come on you Dolphins, let’s show who is the Pride of Dorset and get back to top of the pile, a draw would be enough, but let’s get a win! I would like to thank The Funky Peach for Sponsoring the Kings Lynn Match and Tony Newman Estate Agents who sponsored the Ball. Between them, they chose Jack Dickson as their Man of the Match. I would also like to thank James Anstey who was mascot and got his picture taken with his favorite player, Will Spetch, who just so happens to be his cousin. For today’s game, we have the original sponsors as per the original programme and an additional mascot as detailed elsewhere in this supplement. Let’s hope you all have a great evening and hopefully the right result. We are now sold out for Match and Ball Sponsors for the remainder of this season and I would like to thank all those companies and individuals that have supported us over this season. We also got a sponsor for Matt Fisher, thanks Barrie Corbin so now only have one member of staff left to sponsor – Kit Man, Paul Ayley. If you would like to sponsor Paul, it’s just £85. We also have three Mascot (£40) places still available. Please check the website for availability and get in contact. If you have never tried Tatnam Trebble, I promise you it will be the most tasty Cheddar you have ever had. Seek our Martin Smith on the Cheese table at home games. Try one of his Pork pies as well, you will not be disappointed.

The club turned 125 years old on 20th Sept and to mark the occasion we are looking to form a new Vice-Presidents Board. Cost is £5,000 and in return you will receive free entry to Tatnam for 3 years, with boardroom hospitality, for two people plus seats at the Sportsmans Dinner and End of Season Presentation Dinner, as well as the chance to shape the future of the club. Interested parties are to contact any member of the board. I would like to thank all of you who are using http://pooletownfootballclub.easysearch.org. uk/ as your search engine. We earn ½p per search and that amounts to a couple of pounds per week. That combined with http://www. easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/pooletownfootballclub/ we have now raised over £1,000 for the club. Thanks to all those that support these initiatives. We are planning another Legends Night (Hall of Fame). This is taking place on Friday 19th February. Speak to Dick behind the bar or see the advert in this programme for further details. We will have the usual Spring Lunch, details to be released shortly. Have you heard about Last Man Standing? Just £10 to enter, pick a premier League side to win, get it right and stay in. It’s as simple as that. See Pippa for details.
