PGMAG is aimed at connecting quality people from across the globe, through various articles and profiling of successful individuals. Our magazine embodies the totality of human interest. It is a publication for Leaders and aspiring leaders. We believe everyone has the ability to lead no matter where they may be in life across the globe. Bubbles Kandhari was born in 1951, educated in India and graduated with honors in Economics, Statistics and Politics from Elphinstone College, Mumbai. In 1976, she along with her spouse and two children came to Dubai to grow the family business and formed the Al Dobowi Group.
BK: Thank you very much for giving me this opportunity and honour to be amongst you all and sharing my views. PGMAG: From our research we discovered that you are one woman with a very powerful influence in the world. A woman who took on project that would have seemed ‘impossible’ to achieve, yet was able to defy all odds and brought the project to reality. Please tell us; who is Mrs Bubbles Kandhari? BK: I am the Vice Chairperson of Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara Dubai, UAE; Director of Al Dobowi Group, Dubai; Chairperson, Young
Hearts Group & Dubai Ladies Group in Dubai. Bubbles Kandhari was born in 1951, educated in India and graduated with honors in Economics, Statistics and Politics from Elphinstone College, Mumbai. In 1976, she along with her spouse and two children came to Dubai to grow the family business and formed the Al Dobowi Group. Her Vision is to grow into educating underprivileged children, promoting interfaith to bring peace and harmony in the world. The CSR and Philanthropic activities undertaken so far by her are teaching children on spirituality, Kirtan & Gurmukhi, Organising free Medical camps on Friday, Donating food packets to labour camps thru NGO’s every month & Education for underprivileged children. biggest inspiration came from reading books on and of Guru Nanak Devji, Khalil Gibran, meeting Mother Theresa, inspired her into giving back to society and help her grow spiritually. PGMAG: As the ViceChairperson of the largest Sikh Temple in the Middle East and the second of its kind in the World, how does it feel to be in such a powerful position as a woman? BK: I am grateful to God Almighty who gave me the opportunity to serve and do SEWA. Mrs Bubbles with Lady Anita at the Gurunank DarbarTemple When I moved to Dubai with Surender in the mid 1970’s, the Sikh community was about 1,000 strong, in stark contrast to the 50,000 Sikhs in the UAE today. Private homes in Dubai weren’t big enough to accommodate mass gatherings year after year. The slow but steady rise over the years prompted Surender and his fellow community leaders to look out for a larger space for worship of the Guru Granth Sahib, the central religious scripture in Sikhism. But it wasn’t an easy journey to build a place of worship in a foreign land. We are indebted to His

Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice president and Prime minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai who donated the land and encouraged us to make the Gurudwara – which is the greatest symbol of the inter-faith-respect and regard for another. This gesture has been appreciated not only by the Sikhs of Dubai but by Sikhs all over the world. This magnanimous gesture has put a firm seal on a relationship which goes back hundreds of years. Today, I feel proud to say
When I moved to Dubai with Surender in the mid 1970’s, the Sikh community was about 1,000 strong, in stark contrast to the 50,000 Sikhs in the UAE today.
It has a consistent excellent review from Tripadvisor website recognizing Gurudwara Dubai as an awardee of “Certificate of Excellence for Superior Service” and making it the most photographed Gurudwara in the world. Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing has included Guru Nanak Darbar in its list of attractions and establishments found in Dubai. Guru Nanak Darbar is also featured in the Dubai Tourism website
Mrs Bubbles with Lady Anita Guru Nanak Darbar has become the symbol of Sikh religious worship in the UAE. Thousands of pilgrims as well as people from other religions from across the UAE visit the Gurudwara. It has also become a must-visit tourist place for tour groups from India and UK. The Gurudwara has 35 full time staffs and dozens of volunteers who help organize events during festive times. It serves 10,000 vegetarian meals every Friday, and about 1,000 daily during the week to people who visit the Gurudwara regardless of their religion or race. Guru Nanak Darbar Dubai
is the first Gurudwara in the world to receive ISO Certifications for following management areas : • ISO 9000 - Quality Management Standard • ISO 14000 - Environmental Management Standard • ISO 18000 - Occupational Health and Safety Management Standard • ISO 22000 - Food Safety Management Standard Infact, the only religious institution in the world to get all 4 levels of ISO Certification. It has won two Guinness World Records titles for “Serving
PGMAG: What compelled you and your husband (Surender Singh Kandhari) to take on such an enormous task of building the second largest Sikh Temple in the world? BK: It was a God sent opportunity and a message from Surender’s grandfather when he was 8 years old to serve the community. It all started more than 58 years ago when his grandfather Atma Singh helped build a Gurudwara in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, in 1956. His grandfather wished that

The idea of the Gurudwara germinated 13 years ago when there was a growing need of a proper place of worship for the Sikhs. In his words a Gurudwara is not just the house of God but is the life force that ties the whole Sikh community together. He decided to do something about it and along

PGMAG: How would you describe your style of leadership? BK: I lead from the front. I first serve, take charge, set an example and let my team grow under my leadership. I take charge, lead my teammates and accomplish the mission.
PGMAG: As a community leader what are the four keys of leading successfully? BK: • Effective Communicator • Being Accountable And Responsible • Commitment

PGMAG: If you were invited to address World leaders at a congress, what would be your message to such powerful audience?
BK: Compartment style living. Prioritising the work and doing it diligently. PGMAG: As a woman with an extensive leadership and business experience, what would you suggest to someone who is struggling to find their voice in the global market? BK: First of all; Be sincere to yourself. Work sincerely and diligently. Learn to serve, share and respect others. Do not be bogged down by difficulties that may come your way. I follow the three main principles of Sikhism 1) Naam Japna – Practice meditation and constantly be immersed in appreciation of the Creator. The One Eternal God – Waheguru as we call Him. 2) Kirat Karni – to honestly earn by ones physical and mental effort while accepting both pains and pleasures as GOD’s gifts and blessings. Make honest and truthful living and keep 10% of it for charity. 3) Vand Chakna – Share and consume together. Sharing and
BK: We are but visitors on this planet, during this phase we must do something good, something useful with our lives. Treat people the way you want them to treat you. If you contribute to other people’s happiness you will find the true goal, the true meaning of life.

I am Eula Clarke. I was born in the sunny Island of Jamaica, the oldest of three sisters and, grew up there with my family. My parents migrated to England in the 1960s where I was left in the care of my loving grandparents. I finally arrived in England at the age of 9, after my parent settled into their community.

pending most of my childhood and adult life in Birmingham, UK, where I went to school, education was key for our family and also more of a passion for me. A promising athlete at school, I completed my school years passing my exams and went into employment. I was employed by a Financial institution at the age of 18 and during my working years I was a brand ambassador for our community, helping to fundraise and support with training. I am an Award Winning Top Bank Branch manager and I am proud to have received numerous awards during my career. I have won the Women of the Year in the community

within the UK and also three sets of Platinum awards, which took me to Greece, Dubai and Rome. This was achieved as a result of my management skills, team growth and performance, customer service and engaging with diverse individuals. I have now set up my own Consultancy Business Clarkes Associates Consultancy Ltd focusing on how I can coach and support ladies to be confident in their own growth and achieve their goals. The influence of starting my own Business was key after taking early retirement. Young at heart, I apply my 45 years of expertise and excellent communication conducting my new business at the
highest standards of integrity & professionalism. I know from my own experience that, regardless how well prepared you are for retirement, the finite nature of financial resources, and health and wellness is always at the back of your mind. While money is not everything, I decided to enjoy the richest season of my life and I opened my own consultancy firm with a focus on the health and wellbeing of women executives who, just like myself not so long ago, never think of themselves. It is an old dream of mine since I was in full-time employment and didn’t have the gift of time. I was working full-time, and therefore had no time for anything else. Having achieved everything I ever wished for (and more) in the corporate world, but at the price of my own health. I was inspired to become an Entrepreneur by the freedom of being my own boss, structuring my day, duties and development. I love helping others and building a team. This made me focus on me, for a change. It is a different kind of work, but it’s truly rewarding.
Clarkes Associate Ltd focuses on Women in Leadership, supporting female executives to be better managers and experts in their chosen fields. I have been suffering with high blood-sugar levels and I was always curious about alternative medicine options rather than medications. I began studying to become a Naturopath in Alternative medicine to address my own health issues and mitigate the damages created by workrelated stress over the years. In my capacity as a health and wellness coach, I am passionate about supporting my clients with their health concerns and vitality. I have tested various solutions to detox my own system, I have dropped from a size 20 to size 14 and I am maintaining my weight. My solution to wellbeing is transferrable and I use it to educate and guide as many women as possible! I also teach Women Leaders to become better managers and
experts in their chosen fields. This is done by setting and running effective Customer Services Programmes, leadership development projects and advising on business or career growth. This is necessary in order to breakdown the glass ceiling of their male counterparts. I do this through Consulting and training, Mentoring, Coaching and Keynote Speaking engagements. These projects can be done in –house, through group sessions, one to one managerial training and online or offline mentoring, including weekend retreats. I have been married for over 40 years and have a beautiful daughter who is a Lawyer. The heart of having longevity in your marriage is to have great communication and above all, have fun! In my seminar I teach women how to have a powerful relationship with their husband and family and that they too can run a business with their spouse.
I have supported and put on an anniversary event for the Damilola Taylor Trust and raised ÂŁ6000 for the charity. This was a gospel event which was broadcast on Sky News and featured artists such as Four Kornerz and Urban voices. I have set up and ran Women In Leadership workshops around four cities: Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham and London. This was a phenomenal event! I was also asked to help out with the Jewish community and set up a Dragons Den for children and was one of the panel of judges. I won the Wind Rush Award for Corporate Social Responsibility which was given to the local community in Birmingham. ACHIEVING FANATICAL GOALS
I
have discovered that we are good at setting goals. As a matter of fact, we have reached expert status at doing so. The problem with this is that we tend to set goals that are too low - think about it. We serve a universe creating God. We serve a grave-robbing God. We worship a life rescuing God. But we set tiny goals. See what type of contradiction that is? My definition of a fanatical goal is one that is too big for me to accomplish, that require the supernatural and divine activity of God for it to come to pass.

Fanatical Goals are the fuel behind a fanatical purpose. Have you ever had a fanatical goal that seems so huge that it feels like it will never happen? They are bigger than life! Fanatical goals push the envelope of the impossible. They should intimidate you. They should make you question
whether it can be done. Please understand that with fanatical goals it is not just you that is going to achieve it. It is you and whomever God designates to aid in the fulfillment. Those pieces of the puzzle will come together once you step out in faith to execute. Romans 12:2 MSG: “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-towork, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best
thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well- adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops wellformed maturity in you. If you look at most self-help books and articles on the market that speak or teach about goals, you are most apt to hear the term SMART GOALS. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. I got to thinking one
day about this. Yes, I want my goals to be specific. Absolutely. But the rest of it... I don’t want it! Why? If I serve a mighty powerful, God, all bets are off on my goals being measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. If God has drops in your spirit Fanatical Goals, who are you or anyone else to see if it is “measurable”? God’s ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts, and if He gives the goal, you best believe He doesn’t care how big it seems to man’s eyes! We must stop putting God’s plans for our lives in a box and trying to place parameter on your ability to perform it!
Who are we to question if a fanatical goal is “attainable?” When God says in Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Who are we to question if a fanatical goal is “realistic”? When in Mark 10:27 Jesus told the “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.” Who are we to question if a fanatical goal is “timely? When God tells us in Habakkuk 2:3: For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Who are we to question if a fanatical goal is “measurable” when in Ephesians 3:21 – “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, MAR-APR 2020

I am an award-winning coach, International speaker, and CEO at Words that Deliver, a personal branding agency, and my life was turned upside down in February 2019 when stroke number two threatened to stop me in my tracks. But that is only part of the story.
W
hen I looked into the mirror, I recognised the features, but I had no idea who the person looking back at me was. The only reason I knew it was me was because I was the only black person in the room. To this day, I still wonder if the nurse had also been black would I have arrived at the same conclusion. My stroke changed everything. Not only did I have no major memories of life pre-February 2019, I also had no idea who I was or what I was here to do. I didn’t know how to walk and had no idea about the world outside the hospital, but I was determined not to give up. In one of the three hospitals I stayed in I attended a reading group with a patient, a nurse and two external people. We had a round table read and then a free flow conversation and the three non-patients turned to me and said you need to be a motivational speaker. I remember laughing as I was sitting in pyjamas in a wheelchair and I hadn’t had a wash yet. It was nothing I said, nothing I

did, and they had never met me before, so their conclusion was based solely on the only thing I had to present, Myself! Even though I didn’t know who I was, the essence of what made me uniquely me was still alive and vibrant. All I needed to do was get to know her. People and Facebook memories have been instrumental on this journey as they have helped me piece together a picture of the person I was before the stroke. By all accounts, I have always, inspired and encouraged others, found the silver lining in every cloud and navigated my way over, under or around any obstacles that came my way. As I learn more about what makes me uniquely me, it seems like I was the only person that didn’t know the brand, Carole Pyke. This made me realise that so many more of us do not know who we are and have no idea about the value we bring to the table. When I left the hospital in April 2019, a powerful narrative began to unfold and that narrative began with a vision board but not the traditional
vision board, it was a Personal Brand Vision Board (PBVB), a visual affirmation of who I am and how I wanted to show up in the world. The amazing thing is when this board was created, I had no idea of its impact and value. I was helping a friend create her traditional vision board. God told me to create one too. I said no, as I didn’t have a vision for 2019. He was insistent. I appeased Him by choosing to create one that centred around me. Little did I know that God was setting me up with a powerful tool that would be invaluable three months later and go on to inspire and encourage so many others. My PBVB is a visual affirmation that has quite literally transformed my life and set the standard on how I navigate my way through it. I know who I am - I’m awesome - I am clear about the value I bring to the table and none of this is based on or swayed by someone else’s opinion. I run PBVB workshops and work with individuals on a one to one basis to create their own. I have supported, encouraged

I was battered and abused, literally left for dead on many occasions throughout my life starting early in my childhood from molestation, to alcoholism, to being a mistress, to surviving an abusive and toxic marriage for 18 years to now being a single mom of 4 children who have had and has special needs requiring either an IEP or 504 plan to accommodate them in the classroom. All of this was stressful and on many occasions had me feeling like life was not worth living for MAR-APR 2020

me or my children. On many occasions questioning my very existence and feeling like God why have you abandoned me? Why is this my life? Why I keep going in cycles? Why can't I get a break? PGMAG: Obioma, what can we expect from you in 2020?
I had so many why"s. I started reading, journaling, and praying. The more I read, my faith begin to increase, the more I journaled my feelings, I started seeing a change in me. I started changing as I began to renew my mind with the Word of God. The stress started to fade away because for the first time I started getting clarity and learning about who I was in Christ.
The areas of my focus are Education, and Empowerment. THANK YOUR INNER UNICORN J. WINSLOW As humans we have a desire that drives us to such a point where we will do absolutely anything to either get or to become a certain image or persona. The question is: do we as humans truly understand what the term desire mean? Throughout this article will see that I am going to be speaking about four Noble Truths. H owever this is not to say that I am an expert in this field or in this religion where it derives from, but this is to explain the true reasoning why we always have a desire in our hearts.

hen you meet someone, you have no real idea about their journey. Like most, you wouldn't know my story by looking at me. I look 'normal', my scars are invisible. You’d never know now that when I was little I was filled with quirky fun and joy but early (by 9 or10) that had stopped. At that time the descriptors became: shy, unsure, scared, introverted, an
outsider. A total misfit. Chosen last for teams, or invited to parties, and for sure no one wanted to date me when it was time for that sort of thing. Nothing made much sense to me, and basically I felt that life was just some sort of very bad, ugly joke. Teachers humiliated me, saying unkind things that stuck for years, and few who seemed to notice me much. My parents sent me to summer camp

where all of that was amplified even more, since I was a lousy athlete and wore super geeky clothes that were many sizes too big (found out years later that mom thought I’d grow into them… really??) Home was hard too. Lots of yelling. Hearing what I did wrong, or could do better, or had to do right this minute!! All of which led to buckets of tears and getting sent to my room. More isolation. My family never really 'got' me which only added to my misery. I was seriously depressed and suicidal by the time I was 11. My only friend was the school slut, which is pretty funny since I was not getting much action myself… and my biggest fantasy

was a fatal car crash. I'd dream about that all the time. Great use of creative energy, right? Rather than going on and on, let’s jump ahead to when I was 28. Still depressed and now divorced, starting over in NYC. At a party I met a guy who had some very interesting ideas about personal power and brilliance. He invited me to an event that had me realize that I could CHOOSE not to be depressed. That I was the decision maker, and that those others that had crossed my path should and could be swept aside to make way for another way of being. What a concept! Since then my world has not been the same. After that course I started
waking up happy and ready to see what life would bring me. Really good stuff, more often than not. A switch had been flipped somehow. Sure bad things happen, it's not all crazy beautiful all the time, but my life is SO Rich, that even dark moments don’t last as long. Nor do they get as dark as before. I have had many life changing moments since then, and I expect many more MIRACLES to come!!!! Flash forward a couple of decades and a crazy thing happened. My work, the thing that turned out to be something I'm really good at...is. get this: showing business owners how to be sure that they Don't Fit In, how they can
The sh#t that has happened on the journey, is what makes us Special, and it's WHY we went through all that in the first place. Your Journey holds the clues, and contains all the lessons that can catapult you to Success! Howdoya like that? Another really wonderful thing that I notice for myself and clients is how we listen to our intuition. Remember that part about being a misfit? When we see that each of us is a Unicorn we can focus on what special
sauce we bring rather than push it away. Only weeks ago I was sitting in the final session of another event that proved to be an up-leveling catalyst. After all the really real interactions I had there and all the amazing people that spoke on stage it was clear that I’m not the only one who has made my ‘Sh#t’ Shine!

My nutrition philosophy is based on what will work for each individual consistently. I don’t adhere to a set of guidelines as I believe each individual will have an optimal eating strategy that is unique to them. I take into account my clients schedule, food likes, dislikes, allergies, goals, what’s worked in the past, budget and many other factors. Finding an eating strategy that is effortless is important to balance so we don’t find ourselves stressing and obsessing over what to eat and can spend more time on the things that are important to us. My exercise and training goal for my clients is simple. Move. Find what brings you
joy, what is fun and you will do regularly and stick with it. I encourage doing all kinds of activities. I believe that we should stimulate our bodies, not annihilate them. Spending countless hours in the gym can be exhausting and is counterproductive in reaching our goals. Again, the end result is balance which makes us more effective so we try to incorporate daily movement that is sustainable long term. When I approach mindset training with my clients it very interactive. We talk about life and the obstacles, issues and struggles they're dealing with. In my experience I've found people will expose how strong their mindsets are when just having a conversation. I listen for keywords such I wish, I can’t, I should have, there’s no way and other self-defeating sayings or mannerisms and we address them as they come. We reinforce positive thinking, “I am” statements and a multitude of other strategies to help strengthen their thought process and how they identify things that they're dealing with. I believe that how a person perceives the issue at hand determines how they’ll handle it and eventually dictates the outcome. We address the perception of what is happening in their life and start

with a proactive approach to viewing whatever life throws at us in a positive manner and as an opportunity to grow. My spiritual guidance is grounded in Christianity. I don’t push my beliefs on others and I love each individual I have the opportunity to work with. I will pray for my clients, I will quote scripture, I will support their beliefs but most importantly I provide a safe place for them to talk about their issues free of judgement or criticism or fear of having to get into a debate about what is right or wrong. For years I stayed away from the religious arena but felt convicted to open up about my faith and not to quench the flame and passion I have for God. It’s a taboo subject for many and controversial for most business owners. I’ve found that those who aren’t ready for that level of accountability or awakening will stay away or won’t be drawn to my services but on the other hand I fully believe that God is putting the right people in my life at the right time so being able to share and help others explore their faith has opened up a deeper level of relationship with my clientele. Constantly bombard with images of youth and beauty, when it comes down to it, Saving Investments, Life Insurance just aren’t sexy enough. Far from promising eternal youth and restructured beautification Financial Planning force you to confront the fact that you are going to get old, maybe sick and or be poor and dependent on someone.
Money, is a tool the means to give you the lifestyle you want - clothes, jewelry, accessories the beatification and maintenance of your personal appearance, entertainment, travel, property, whatever. Step outside my “I’m O.K., it will never happen to me” comfort zone, Take Responsibility Plan YOUR financial independence, take action. Don’t confuse financial independence with financial security. A monthly salary in your bank account or worse still an allowance/supplemnatay credit card from your spouse/ partner alone cannot render you capable of meeting all of your financial goals. It is how you plan and manage your finances which will result in fruition of objectives later in life. We are the women of the millennium trying to do it all and have it all. But how do we become financial independent or savvy when the kids are screaming, our husbands are demanding and our business associates are making us crazy?

Here are some irrefutable facts • Majority of women will spend almost 1/3 of their adult lives on their own financially • Women enter times of transition when they marry, become mothers, widows, get divorced, start working and retire. • Women seem to have less time than men to manage their financial resources • Women live longer than men by an average of seven years • 50% of all women older than 65 are widows. Widows frequently suffer sharp drop in their standard of living.
• A large number of first marriages end in divorce, subsequent marriages also end in divorce. • A woman’s standard of living declines as much as 45% after a divorce • It is never too late to consider that a marriage will terminate and to plan for that termination. • Women are often responsible for the care of an elderly parent, both financially and psychologically. • Women typically earn less and spend less time in the work force. • Lower earnings may result in lower pensions in retirement
It is difficult during a time of financial and emotional transition to think and plan. Clearly there is a great deal at stake for women…single or married, of all ages, incomes and ethnic backgrounds. However women can overcome these “barriers’ and learn how to build their Financial Security. This is the time women need to be at their most astute, financially. Most of us live - and think - as if the world were static, or as if it should be. As individuals, as women, and as members or leaders of organizations, too often the way we act, plan, and react betrays the assumption

POWERFUL WOMEN GLOBAL FOUNDATION Powerful Global Women Foundation (Powerhouse Charity) was founded in 20l6 in Nigeria, West Africa, by Lady Anita Duckworth-Bradshaw.
