Prof. Dr. ANIL RAO PAILA
SENIOR DEAN & DIRECTOR, WeSchool, Bengaluru Campus
Post graduate students are in a transitional phase of their life – at a crucial turning point to adulthood. This period is a period of understanding the real-world outside and making adjustments to changing patterns of societal expectations and life overall. They are expected to play new roles, develop new attitudes, interests and values which would be continued for the rest of their lives. In the collective life of societies, each new generation of young people bring in new ideas, new potentialities; hence molding them in the right form is critical. Education is supposed to prepare individuals for the outside world. As the world becomes increasingly globalized, one should acquire the relevant skills to excel. WeSchool focuses on a learner centric environment supported by innovative programmes, robust industry interface, opportunity of global internships and a dedicated set of faculty members as mentors. WeSchool Bengaluru campus has grown significantly under the strategic leadership of our Group Director Prof. Dr. Uday Salunkhe. Our strength lies in our ability to adopt a balanced approach towards education that encourage teamwork, help developing complex thinking skills and focus on future needs of the industry. Prameya- the campus magazine is a students’ initiative supported by faculty members that captures the details of our events, activities conducted, latest trend in the external environment as well applauds the achievement of both students and faculty members. National Education Policy (NEP) Impact of National Education Policy (NEP) on B-Schools The National Education Policy 2020 is the first educational policy of 21st century that was formulated by government of India to promote education amongst its citizens. This Policy augurs an innovative academic structure from school level to college education. The focal point is to provide an academic journey that is contemporary, innovative and is of the interests of young minds at different levels of their education. However in this article salience is to the implication of NEP in Indian Business schools. • Entry of Top global institutes in India India with almost 990 universities and 40,000 colleges has the least enrollment ratio compared to other BRICS countries. Nevertheless on the brighter side interested students may not have to go out of the country to get international qualifications. Additionally availability of foreign universities will attract students from outside India to pursue their higher education in India. Even though the competition amongst B-Schools will increase they will have better access to competent students. This also opens opportunity for collaboration with renowned universities/institutions of excellence in pedagogical and other instructional areas. Few challenges that need to be addressed are lack of clarity on parameters or rankings that defines the top 100 global universities. This will also lead to disparity in enrollment and the gap in educational sector between rural and urban India will widen. The real hardship for the Indian policymakers is now to formulate regulatory guidelines for foreign universities to operate in India that promote and cater to the requirement of the country without cumbersome regulations. • Allowing technical institutions to be multi-disciplinary offering four-year multidisciplinary undergraduate programme This will impact single disciplinary institutions like management schools. To identify and cater to the job requirement and expected skill set for management graduates will be a challenge. There will not be much relevance in specializations like marketing, operations, IT, HR etc. B-Schools may also find it intricate to offer personalized skill based specialization. To strive in new educational environment B-Schools will have to think beyond core management areas and should focus on cross disciplinary approach • 5+3+3+4 formula and skill based /multi disciplinary approach Entry level or the skill set of students in B-schools may be much distinct compared to the current scenario. Students can enter/ exit at the end of each year, and an Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) will be set up which will digitally store the academic credits earned. B-School admission process may have to undergo a complete revamping process. The proposed 4 year degree adds research elements and a value addition to the much needed areas like analytics. This system of 3 or 4 year graduation program will result in uncertainty as currently they are no clarity on the differentiating factor between 3 and 4 year degree with respect to business education. • Replacing UGC and AICTE with Higher Education Commission of India(HECI) - The proposed verticals under HECI are - National Higher Education Regulatory Council, - National Accreditation Council, - Higher Education Grants Council, - General Education Council This approach will avoid duplication of regulatory/accreditation efforts. Provides Equal opportunity for all institutions and it also promotes transparent and technology based system. Existing accreditations, norms, policies will change and B-Schools should adapt to these changes and norms • Categorization of higher education institutions as research intensive, teaching intensive and autonomous degree granting Higher education institutions will be defined based on these three categories. B-Schools are a blend of these three and it is impractical to define B-Schools under one of these categories In conclusion Management education in India will witness a major revamp with the new education policy.

Event | BD START Inc.
Every year the students of PGDM Business Design conduct an exiting event - The BD Start Inc, which provides a platform for the students to showcase their exceptional business ideas before the eminent personalities in the business world.
BD START Inc. 2019
The preparation for this event begins well in advance wherein the senior students form groups based on coordination of ideas and specializations. They then continue to develop their ideas by giving it further structure in terms of the financials involved, marketing strategies and also build the prototype of the actual product for presentation on the day of the showcase.
Students Working on ‘Prototype’ of their project in InnoWe Lab
This year, we unveiled BD start Inc.2019 on 28th of September. The panelists for the day were welcomed and ushered into the halls that were adorned with the creative stalls representing six different businesses. Each of them were also given imitations of cheques to pretend as though they were investors who would bid for the business they liked the most.
While the seniors passionately work on their businesses, the juniors work on organizing the event by planning out the schedule and connecting to various executives from the corporate world to attend the event and provide their valuable insights on the work presented by the students.
After visiting every stall and interacting with the students they wrote their cheques and appreciated the efforts of the students. Later that afternoon, we expressed our gratitude to them over high tea, for taking out their valuable time to be a part of our event and being such inspiring mentors to us. This event taught us a lot more than just understanding how to build our business process. It also allowed us to understand each other better, enjoy our regional and cultural diversity and celebrate the spirit of working in teams. Most importantly as students of PGDM it taught us the skills of effective management. At the end of the day we were both proud of our accomplishment and bittersweet about the fact that it had all come to an end. Student Experience at Global Leadership Practices program - V Life is at times monotonous and dull, one finds oneself chained to a very dull and dreary routine. One craves for change, for a variety, for a diversion from the soul-killing books, classroom lectures, homework and examinations. A cultural function provides this much desired change. Whenever we hear something like a 'cultural show', we immerse ourselves into the thoughts of alluring colourful lights, unstoppable music, variety, diversity, DJs, and even savouring foods. We tend to bend our hunches towards participation, huge crowds, and cultural diversities which indeed gifts you a massive package of memories. Knowing people, working with them and understanding them is like the crux of every event. The cultural event for Australian delegates as a part of Global Leadership Practices program - V was held in WeSchool Bengaluru college campus in the Amphi Theatre on 22nd November, 2019. Australian delegates of Yellow Edge have been visiting our campus since past five years on an annual basis and we get an opportunity to meet such professionals and get to know about their culture. It all started with a power-packed performance by our Associate dean and professor, Dr. Dakshina Murthy’s Veena performance. It gave us an immense joy and pleasure to witness such an alluring and mesmerising form of art. The Australian delegates were all involved in the performance. We then had an Indian Classical performance by the students trained in Kathak and Bharatnatyam dance forms. The event comprised of several dance performances based on different cultural varieties from different Indian provinces such as - Bhangra, Garba, Lavni, etc. We were taken aback by the mesmerising and melodious band performance by the students. Their engagement towards the delegates was the best part of the show. We could see that the audience, students, delegates and our teachers putting their heart into it. Two of our students showcased their talented hands on Tabla and Violin which left everyone

mesmerised. We also had singing performance where we saw our students trying to connect to the delegates by singing some of the Western songs. Last but not the least, we had a Cultural Fashion Show performance which was all colourful. It was such a treat for our eyes seeing them walking all around the stage wearing those flashy, colourful, and beautiful dresses. The essence and taste of India shimmered throughout the show and it all ended with everyone enjoying and shaking their legs to some of the popular Bollywood numbers. We saw the delegates involving themselves to the fullest throughout the event. They even joined the crowd dancing and enjoying. It was fun witnessing such a great event and given a chance wish to contribute again for the same. Varsha Verma, PGDM 2019-21
“Kitchen is the place to bring everyone together”

Joga Bonito - Student’s Experience
“Bend it like Beckham” is one of my all time favourite sports movie. It’s a rom- com full of fun, laughter and a ‘big fat Punjabi wedding’; but at its core it’s a story about two women breaking societal barriers to play their favourite sport - Football. We girls too had our moment-to-cherish on 15th December 2019 when our college organised Joga Bonito - a football event where Seniors, Juniors, Alumni and Faculty members participated. It wasn’t societal barriers that we were breaking this time, but the barriers of self-confidence and self-doubt, since most of us had never played before. On that day, our spirits were as high as the sun in the sky. We were twenty-six girls in three teams respectively.

Strategies were drawn out by each team. Some players were injured but still the passion was seen in their eyes. First match was played between Ebiz 2 seniors and Ebiz 1 juniors. Both the teams played extremely well and the match was won by Ebiz2 seniors. All the teams were passionate and determined so many matches resulted in a draw. Even junior teams gave a tough competition to seniors. Even the match between PGDM Juniors and Ebiz Seniors was engaging. PGDM juniors won the match by 1-0. Finals was played between Ebiz 2 seniors and PGDM juniors. Due to time constraints the play time was reduced to 10 minutes. It was a tough fight between the two teams. The competition was neck to neck and then the seniors received the penalty shot. Palak Arora took the shot and it was a goal. It was a perfect shot. This made match more interesting for audience as no one was able to make out who will win the tournament. Finally Joga Bonito - Girls was won by Ebiz 2 Seniors. They won by 1-0. The titles were as follows:Best Defender- Sayal Ojha Maximum no. of Goals- Palak Arora Best Goalkeeper- Nutan Godde Joga Bonito turned out to be an event which had a blend of emotions, starting from anxiety, cheerfulness, support, happiness, etc. Teams were all blend of emotions ...We saw them smile on their wins and saw their tears on losses, even though there was pain and pressure... we saw them motivating each other and being there whenever one falled .. Student’s Experience - Online Admission Process 2020
Eva Maheshwari PGDM, E-Business Batch 2020-22 With the coronavirus wreaking havoc across the world, while we stay safe at our homes with schools and colleges shut, there is a mad dash to compensate for the lost time by introducing various models of online learning and conducting admissions through online process. With the lack of availability of traditional means of college admissions, students, just like me, were frantic about admissions looking for a silver lining during such catastrophic times. However, online mode of admissions came to our rescue. I had gone through the similar admission process here in WeSchool. Everything went off without a hitch. I remember calling and sending emails time and again when I had any issue regarding my application and they sorted it out. For my every query, the college administration was prompt and helpful. My GDPI was scheduled in the morning shift. I received the link few minutes prior to the reporting time. I was nervous as it was going to be my very first interview at an online platform. The process started at the right time. The panel had two college faculties. They briefed me about the whole procedure. It was going to be a two fold process. The first phase was an extempore in which I had to speak on the given topic for five minutes followed by the PI part in which I was asked some general questions about my course preferences and how the current business situation is affected by Coronavirus crisis and few more. This two way interaction went on seamlessly for approximately half an hour. Personally, I had a wonderful experience with the mode, mostly because both the interviewer was pretty cordial. The entire session was so hassle free, with no waiting in queues for the panel call, unlike the conventional way. We did not have to travel all the way to some other city and get interviewed in unfamiliar surroundings. Sitting in front of a camera enabled screen, on your couch in the formal attire, at your own home, was all it took to make me a part of this eminent institution.

Student’s Experience - Online Admission Process 2020
Sumantra Mukherjee PGDM, E-Business Batch 2020-22 After much fervour and a truck load of anticipation later, we were intimated about the slots for our Online Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The first of its kind owing the prevailing conditions of the pandemic, this came as a welcome excuse to put the pedal to the metal. However, it tagged along with it a strange amalgamation of fear, hope and resolve. On the D Day, I was glued to the laptop much before time, checking on the technical aspects for the smooth transition of the selection process. The interview started sharp at the designated time and I found two enthusiastic and warm panel members waiting for our interaction. Post exchanging pleasantries, I dove right into the topic presented to me for the Extempore. I could feel the comfort and ease of communication since the panel members on the receiving end were quite attentive and pleased. Thereafter, there was a one-to-one discussion with the members on topics of national importance as well as the nitty-gritty of my technical background, motive behind pursuing management education to name a few. Following the interview, we signed off for the day. A couple of days later I found myself to be a part of the WeSchool family after a holistic and wholesome GD&PI experience which marked the beginning of a new phase of life for me. It set me off on a trajectory which would involve the coveted and acclaimed WeSchool advantage tagged with a platform to meet up, collaborate and indulge into the hurdles and achievements hereafter as a collective and diverse family.
Vidhi Rastogi PGDM, E-Business Batch 2020-22 Hello everyone! This is Vidhi Rastogi from Farrukhabad district of Uttar-Pradesh - Kanpur being the nearest town. I have pursued Bcom (Hons) from Gargi College, University of Delhi and graduated in 2019. So MBA was something which I always wanted to do for my further studies to get the broader perspective of the corporate world and gain much more professional experience and practical learning. Therefore I appeared for competitive exams and applied for various colleges. I got to know about Welingkar through one of the social media platforms and then when I gone through the website, I was quite impressed about their curriculum and decided to apply. Also both the campuses are located in amazing cities (Mumbai and Bengaluru) which actually would provide a major advantage to the students. So, after receiving the call letter, I appeared for the GDPI process in Delhi, which was a great experience. There were huge number of applicants and the Panelists were also well qualified and experienced. After which as we all know, Covid-19 hit us and the results got delayed which ultimately led to a sense of impatience and chaos among the students. I remember sending the mails from time to time to get the actual status of the results and every time the college administration was responsive. So by mid of June, our results got declared and I converted for PGDM in E-Business, Bengaluru Campus which was a huge sigh of relief for me. Thereby, now I feel honoured to be a part of such a prestigious college. Though Covid-19 did hit us but still anyhow I managed to be a part of the WeSchool family. Since because of the current scenario, we cannot be together in the campus but anyhow we will be connecting virtually through online platforms. We had some unofficial interactive sessions with some of our peers and seniors and probably would be starting with the classes soon. So looking forward to connect with the WeSchool family and have amazing events, Fresher’s being the most awaited one. Let’s hope for the situations to get better and for us to be together in the real world. See you soon We School family.
